This episode is presented by Create A Video – Gov. Tim Walz and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez played a football video game against each other to try to reach young males voters. They were both shut out.

[00:00:28] I have to tell you, I feel bad for, well, a lot of people, but I feel really bad for our colleagues down the hall there at the Sports Talker. I would be bored out of my mind doing the same topic every single Monday. Every Monday, you're just like, you've got to talk about the Panthers' loss.
[00:00:57] And it's just the same thing over and over and over and over and over. Is that seven? Are we at seven losses now? I forget. We may not win another game.
[00:01:08] Other teams are just like using us as punching bags and stat stuffers, I think is what I heard somebody call it the other day.
[00:01:17] Like these games are stat stuffers for our opponents. You're welcome.
[00:01:22] Ugh. Well, I will, okay, I will say this. I appreciate, see, because you know me, I'm always trying to look on the bright side of things.
[00:01:32] Right? Right? Anyway, I will say I appreciate the fact that after like they, they, the Panthers had a touchdown on the first possession, their first try at the game.
[00:01:46] And I was like, oh, that's fantastic. I got to see a touchdown by the Panthers. That was really good. And they ran the ball.
[00:01:51] I like to see them run the ball because they're actually pretty decent at running the ball.
[00:01:55] But then they just stop running the ball and then lose. And that's what they did. And, um, and so they lost very early.
[00:02:02] It became very obvious very early that they just were not going to win. So I appreciate that.
[00:02:08] I just didn't even watch like from the third quarter until like halfway through the fourth quarter.
[00:02:16] I went to went about doing different things, you know, ran, ran some errands, that sort of stuff.
[00:02:21] It was nice. Yeah. Like I, I don't, I don't know what people do that paid money for those tickets.
[00:02:31] I would be just beside myself. If I spent money on this team, oh man, once again, and this is where I'm going to leave it.
[00:02:40] Cause you know, this is not a sports talk show. Cause if it was, I would be doing the same topic every single Monday, but I don't.
[00:02:46] Um, I would just say that, um, whatever the management over there is doing, stop doing it.
[00:02:55] Do the, do the opposite, whatever it is. I don't know what they're doing, but whatever it is, just stop doing it and do the opposite of what you're doing.
[00:03:03] It's the only advice I can offer, but I don't know. I've never owned a team.
[00:03:09] So, um, oh, you know what though? That does remind me. Hang on a second.
[00:03:15] Me. I guess I'll start here. Um, do, do, do, do, do. Yes.
[00:03:24] So you'll recall, um, and I've covered this a couple of different times over the last few months, mainly because it is, uh, well, you know,
[00:03:33] I've been talking about how the parties are realigning. I've talked about, uh, the gender gap that is opening up.
[00:03:41] It's actually, well, it's already been open, but it's widening now. Um, more so than we've seen historically between men and women,
[00:03:50] men voting for Republicans and Donald Trump and women voting more for Democrats and Kamala Harris.
[00:04:00] Um, and so, and I'll pass back to that in a second, but there was a potential game changer here over the weekend.
[00:04:09] And I think a lot of people aren't, I'm not talking about the Joe Rogan podcast, although I can talk about the Joe Rogan podcast.
[00:04:15] I thought, yeah, it was very, there, there are a couple of different dynamics going on there, which I thought were pretty interesting just in a media perspective.
[00:04:22] But the, um, the game changer that I'm talking about occurred on Twitch, which a lot of people don't even know exists.
[00:04:34] Twitch is a live streaming platform and it is, uh, integrated. It is native to, um, like your gaming consoles, Xbox.
[00:04:49] I think I'm not a PlayStation person. So I don't know what Sony PlayStation does with theirs.
[00:04:54] I assume it's also integrated there, but a lot of gamers live stream on Twitch.
[00:04:59] And over the years, Twitch has now, uh, built up, uh, more non-gamer type of live streaming as well.
[00:05:08] Okay. So it's a live streaming platform, much like YouTube. Think of it like a YouTube. Okay. But,
[00:05:13] but different anyway. So on Twitch, um, and, and the reason why I point out that it's native is because,
[00:05:21] um, it means that when you have your Xbox or your PlayStation or whatever, um, it's already,
[00:05:27] it's part of that software. And if people don't understand what like a gaming console is, it's,
[00:05:34] it's just a CPU. Okay. It's a computer, but it doesn't have all of the, you know, word processor,
[00:05:41] you know, programs. It doesn't have any of that stuff on it. It's just basically,
[00:05:45] it's a, it's a computer. And eventually I think it's going to be completely,
[00:05:48] it'll be integrated to be the same, but it's got a lot of good graphics cards and,
[00:05:52] and that like, that's the main thing. It's just, uh, it's designed to do one thing, right?
[00:05:57] So we'll also play music. You could put, you could put CDs and DVDs in them too.
[00:06:02] And that yes, now they have apps so you can actually watch TV. Okay. Anyway,
[00:06:05] I'm down the rabbit hole point here is there was a game changing, uh, uh, moment over the weekend
[00:06:12] where Tim walls, who's a liar. Um, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to the Twitch and played a game
[00:06:27] game of, uh, football Madden is John Madden, the sportscaster Madden NFL games.
[00:06:35] These are, this is like the gold standard for, um, well, it's the only NFL game Madden.
[00:06:41] It's like exclusive to, uh, uh, to the NFL franchise. And so like, and it's gone crazy.
[00:06:47] Like you can actually manage the entire roster and do drafts and run seasons and all this other stuff.
[00:06:53] So they played a game against one another on Twitch. They live streamed themselves playing a game
[00:07:02] as Fox news reported, quote, in an effort to secure more support from male voters before election day.
[00:07:11] Okay. So this is a, this is a play to get dudes interested in Harris walls. All right.
[00:07:20] Vice presidential candidate, Governor Tim walls, Democrat from Minnesota, who's a liar. Uh, and
[00:07:25] representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrat from New York played managed, sorry, played Madden
[00:07:31] NFL together on the live streaming platform Twitch on Sunday during football. So, all right.
[00:07:47] So I'm going to get this straight. Your attempt to speak to male voters was scheduled
[00:07:56] during football games, during actual NFL football games, where dudes, I'm just guessing here are
[00:08:04] probably watching NFL football. And you thought AOC versus Tim walls was a liar. You would think you
[00:08:13] thought that that would be good counter-programming in order to reach the dudes that are already
[00:08:20] watching the NFL, that they're going to leave the real games being played by professionals to watch AOC
[00:08:29] and walls play a video game football game that has absolutely no bearing on their fantasy league or on
[00:08:38] their online betting. I mean, I get it's a, that is a strategy. Yes, no doubt. That's a strategy.
[00:08:47] I don't know if it's going to work. They agreed to play Madden because, well, I'm sure the consultants
[00:08:56] told them, but Tim walls, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but he is a liar, but also he claims
[00:09:02] to have been a football coach. Although I think it was an assistant football coach. Um, and so,
[00:09:10] because he's, you know, kind of familiar with the game and he's also familiar, he claimed with the video
[00:09:18] game Madden because he played it with his children in the past. So he, he has some familiarity with the
[00:09:28] game. I don't know what AOC's experience is playing Madden NFL. I don't Madden 24, 23. I don't know.
[00:09:36] During the live stream walls told Ocasio-Cortez that if he and Harris win the election, he would
[00:09:42] make her AOC speaker of the house, which you're not, it's not one of the rules of the, the vice
[00:09:51] president does not get to pick the speaker of the house. That's not how that works. That would be
[00:09:56] the house members of the, whoever has the majority of the votes, right? They, they, yeah, you don't get
[00:10:02] to pick the speaker, Tim. I mean, it's not like he was a teacher, you know, teaching like history or
[00:10:08] anything or social stuff. Oh, actually he was, but yeah, but he's mainly a coach. So he knows football.
[00:10:16] Um, he then said he would eliminate the filibuster and, uh, AOC agreed with him saying quote, Oh yeah,
[00:10:23] we got to get rid of that thing. Walls and Ocasio-Cortez finished their game. They played only one half.
[00:10:31] So they did not finish the whole game. They just played two quarters. They played a half of football.
[00:10:37] Walls played using the Minnesota Vikings because he is from Minnesota and Ocasio-Cortez played, uh,
[00:10:43] with the Buffalo Bills team. And, um, the final score was zero to zero, which is really is a metaphor,
[00:10:59] isn't it? Wait, my gosh, I'm not sure. Like the whole thing, the entire stunt, it really encapsulates the problems
[00:11:10] with Kamala Harris and Tim Walls campaign. It really does. You're going to target dudes by playing a video game
[00:11:19] on a Sunday while they're all watching NFL. And you think you're going to get them to watch you play a video game
[00:11:28] where the score ends zero to zero, zero to zero. Why wouldn't you have just played FIFA soccer?
[00:11:36] My gosh. Oh, maybe that's what they thought they were playing. And they said, we're going to play some
[00:11:40] football. Maybe they thought, no, like you, you have to really be bad to not score a single touchdown.
[00:11:49] Seriously. They have settings in that game where you could set it to easy mode. Like I, it's literally
[00:11:54] called easy setting. You play at the easiest, I think rookie setting you play at the easiest setting
[00:12:01] and like you'll complete every pass here. People zero to zero really winning over the dudes.
[00:12:12] You know, stories are powerful. They help us make sense of things to understand experiences.
[00:12:17] Stories connect us to the people of our past while transcending generations. They help us process
[00:12:21] the meaning of life. And our stories are told through images and videos. Preserve your stories

[00:13:06] the eyes of everyone around you and all who came before you. And they will tell others to come who you
[00:13:12] are. Visit creativevideo.com. Okay. So regarding, I just saw this. I cannot believe this is accurate,
[00:13:19] but it is accurate. So Governor Tim Walls, who's a liar, on his Twitter account, he sent out a tweet,
[00:13:29] or maybe it was a staffer. Because remember, this is all directed to the dudes to try to get young
[00:13:36] men to pay attention to Harris Walls. And so Walls, you know, I used to be a football coach and all.
[00:13:41] And so he's going to play some Madden NFL video game live streamed with AOC.
[00:13:49] And he sends out a tweet and it says,
[00:13:55] AOC can run a mean pick six and I can call an audible on a play.
[00:14:03] Anybody catch the problem with that sentence?
[00:14:07] AOC can run a mean pick six and I can call an audible on a play. So again, their game ended zero
[00:14:15] to zero. This is their attempt to talk to dudes that I would think enjoy watching football. Enjoy
[00:14:23] football. But not to the point where they would actually watch the NFL on Sunday. They would
[00:14:28] instead go and watch some adults playing video games of an NFL game, but not the real games.
[00:14:36] Right. Matt Whitlock, who is a former comms guy with the National Republican Senatorial Committee,
[00:14:44] he said, I'm sorry, but you cannot convince me that Tim Walls has actually ever coached any kind
[00:14:51] of football if he's tweeting that AOC can run a mean pick six. You don't run a pick six.
[00:15:00] That's not a play that you call. Otherwise, you would just call that play every single play on
[00:15:05] defense. Like, hey, you know what? Let's just send out the pick six team. Yeah. And then we'll
[00:15:10] score a touchdown every play that we're on defense. This is so dumb. It reminds me in,
[00:15:15] I guess it was probably like ninth or 10th grade, a bunch of buddies and me were all playing football
[00:15:23] in the backyard. And there was one guy, his name was Paul. And Paul is a nice guy, but he was not,
[00:15:31] he was not terribly athletically inclined. Okay. He was on my team. So we go into the huddle. There
[00:15:37] was like, I don't know, it was like four on four or something. And we go into the huddle and I start
[00:15:43] giving him the play. And I said, okay, here's what we're going to do. And he's like,
[00:15:50] we're going to sack the crap out of him. He's like, no, Paul, we're on offense.
[00:15:57] I don't want to take a sack. That would be a good play for them. I'm not going to run a sack play.
[00:16:03] Okay. That would be something you do want. Let's save that for defense. Let's just,
[00:16:09] why don't I just hand the ball off to somebody? How about that?
[00:16:13] You don't run a pick six play. This guy was a football coach. What was that team's record?
[00:16:23] It could not have been good. I got a message from Mark who said, Pete, my wife's reaction
[00:16:31] to this topic was if AOC had a pick six, then why didn't she score any points?
[00:16:37] That's right. Yeah. Just she knows how to run a pick six play. Yeah. I don't even know what that
[00:16:47] means. And she didn't score. It was a zero to zero score. They only ran, they only played two
[00:16:54] quarters. They didn't even play the full game. They played half a game and neither one of them scored.
[00:16:59] They just spent their time talking politics, but I'm sure this is a brilliant play to win dude votes.
[00:17:09] Ralph. Hello, Ralph. Welcome to the program.
[00:17:12] Hey, Pete. You know, I bet Liz Cheney was just, blood pressure was just going through the roof
[00:17:20] because I thought the whole Pinocchio tour with Liz Cheney and Kamala was that Liz was going to be
[00:17:26] the Speaker of the House if the Democrats took the House over.
[00:17:30] Well, that's yeah. Well, maybe so. But remember, it's Tim Walz and he's a liar. So he could have just
[00:17:38] told AOC that and because he doesn't have I mean, like he he says, like, I'll make you the Speaker of
[00:17:44] the House or you're going to be Speaker of the House or something. And he doesn't have authority to do
[00:17:48] that. So he's just making empty promises to AOC. So maybe Liz knows that.
[00:17:55] Well, and you know, Liz, you know, you know, with the Democrats, it was both of them got a
[00:18:00] participation award for that game. And AOC probably went pouring out on that pick six.
[00:18:08] And that's why it was still zero to zero. Probably so. That does sound correct. All right.
[00:18:14] Yeah. Ralph, I appreciate the call. Yeah. And I'm not sure if she was.
[00:18:21] I'm not sure if she ran like a full court press.
[00:18:27] Or maybe there was a power play involved. I don't know. It's hard to say.
[00:18:32] But in case that that didn't work, Michelle Obama is going a different route. She's calling dudes
[00:18:41] fascists and. Basically, villains.
[00:18:48] That's another way you could try to win over the hearts and minds of these men.
[00:18:51] That's again, like I'm not a Democrat strategist. So what do I know?
[00:18:58] I don't think this is a great idea, but they're going with it.
[00:19:02] We'll see if it works. The Obama's, according to Ed Morrissey at hot air dot com.
[00:19:08] The Obama's certainly seem to have a particular message that they want to vent in the final days of the campaign.
[00:19:14] Barack Obama, you'll recall, scolded black men for being misogynist in their lack of enthusiasm for Kamala Harris two weeks ago.
[00:19:23] Well, this weekend, his wife, Michelle, scolded women for allowing themselves to be oppressed by their MAGA men folk.
[00:19:31] The closing pitch. The closing pitch from both Harris surrogates puts younger men squarely in the role of villain.
[00:19:47] Morrissey says this message will resonate in one key demo. So and I agree with him here.
[00:19:53] Right. There is a key demographic that will be receptive to this message.
[00:19:58] That key demographic is the women's studies majors subset of college graduates.
[00:20:05] OK, so not all college graduates, but the women's studies graduates.
[00:20:09] Right. The bad news is that the young men demo is quite a bit larger than the women's studies majors subset of college graduates.
[00:20:21] It's a little bit bigger, like half the country.
[00:20:24] And the really bad news is that Kamala Harris already had a lock on the women's studies majors.
[00:20:31] Right. She was already going to win them.
[00:20:33] So you just continuing to target that demographic isn't really going to get you the dude votes that you are seeking.
[00:20:43] Morrissey goes on to say that the line of attack actually might erode standing even in that demographic, the women's studies majors demographic, at least among those who are married to men.
[00:20:56] It's not just an insult to the husbands, you see, but also an infantilization of married women and maybe even more than an insult to men.
[00:21:05] See, Michelle Obama assumes, like a lot of radical progressives do, that any female opposing their agenda only does so because they're being oppressed into that position.
[00:21:18] That their that their husbands are telling them for whom to vote.
[00:21:23] Which.
[00:21:24] Is a pretty like that's a.
[00:21:27] Yeah, it's kind of an offensive thing to say.
[00:21:29] I mean, if it were me, but what do I know?
[00:21:31] Well, she may have well.
[00:21:33] She may have well.
[00:21:36] Done with women.
[00:21:38] What her husband did with men and just declare both groups to be idiots while asking them to vote for Harris.
[00:21:46] Ed calls this Ed Morrissey at Hot Air calls this the angriest, most desperate end to a presidential campaign he has ever experienced.
[00:21:56] See, everyone's a fascist if they don't vote for Kamala, especially black men and husbands of all stripes.
[00:22:03] The masks have finally come off under a little competition and scrutiny.
[00:22:07] This is what progressive elite Democrats really think of America.
[00:22:11] They believe it's composed of yahoos that have to be scolded and herded into their direction,
[00:22:19] demanding that the yahoos allow the enlightened elites to make their choices for them.
[00:22:26] So much for joy.
[00:22:30] This gets to.
[00:22:34] This gets to some of the the reaction to the appearance that Donald Trump had on the Joe Rogan podcast.
[00:22:44] Joe Rogan.
[00:22:46] Is like the like the godfather of podcasting, basically, like he started doing this as a hobby before anybody else really knew what was going on.
[00:22:54] He built this massive following.
[00:22:57] People watch.
[00:22:58] I mean, it's a three hour podcast and they walk in there and I watched he did a little.
[00:23:06] Commentary after I could post it up like the next day, he had a couple of buddies in there talking and he just he books all sorts of people.
[00:23:13] And he just talks about really anything that comes up as they're chatting.
[00:23:18] It's a free form discussion.
[00:23:22] And that's what he said.
[00:23:23] Like people.
[00:23:24] That's the natural way that people interact with one another.
[00:23:27] And that's why his podcasts are so popular is that it's just a conversation.
[00:23:32] And he you know, he he's not interested in listening to the, you know, the contrived talking points and people talking like politicians and that sort of thing.
[00:23:43] But he said Trump came in there.
[00:23:45] He didn't go to the bathroom before.
[00:23:47] He didn't go to the bathroom after.
[00:23:48] He didn't drink any water while he was there.
[00:23:50] He just sat down and just riffed for three hours with Rogan on like all these different topics about whatever.
[00:23:57] And J.D. Vance, by the way, he went on another podcast about two hours.
[00:24:02] He spent with a comedian who does his own show, a guy named Theo Vaughn.
[00:24:08] And it was really entertaining.
[00:24:11] And they just talked.
[00:24:13] And like Theo Vaughn is not some political animal.
[00:24:16] He didn't know anything about politics, it seems like.
[00:24:19] But they just talked about because Theo Vaughn is in recovery.
[00:24:24] And so, you know, J.D. Vance's life story, as told in the book Hillbilly Elegy, has a lot of those same similarities.
[00:24:31] So they talked about just life issues, about addiction, about the impact it has on families and stuff.
[00:24:38] And, you know, and he him being a comedian, Joe Rogan also being a comedian.
[00:24:43] It's entertaining.
[00:24:44] It's fun.
[00:24:45] They tell jokes.
[00:24:47] They cut up.
[00:24:49] And I wonder if if this changes the trajectory.
[00:24:57] Because last night I also caught because it was on after the Panthers game.
[00:25:01] I caught a little bit of 60 minutes about the immigration stuff.
[00:25:05] And I'm not going to go over the story because it was just like it.
[00:25:10] It was like a 15 minute Kamala Harris campaign ad.
[00:25:17] I was driving in today, turned it over to NPR, find out what they're talking about.
[00:25:23] And I was shocked it wasn't climate change.
[00:25:28] No, but it was about immigration.
[00:25:32] No, it was about non-citizen voting.
[00:25:35] And they never talk about, they never once mentioned, I'm going to circle back to this like Psaki would,
[00:25:41] they never mentioned anything at all about more and more jurisdictions allowing non-citizens to vote.
[00:25:49] And that's why Republicans are running these amendments in the states to their constitutions.
[00:25:54] It's to block the Democrats trying to get non-citizens to vote.
[00:26:00] But they never mentioned that.
[00:26:02] And so if you just listen to NPR, you are completely oblivious to what is occurring.
[00:26:09] The long form interviews that Trump did with Rogan.
[00:26:14] And yes, even Harris did with that sex podcaster, right?
[00:26:19] The call me daddy or call her daddy or whatever.
[00:26:21] I don't even know what the name of that means.
[00:26:23] But I don't know her name, but she does like some sex talk podcast.
[00:26:27] And Harris went on that one to talk about, of course, abortion, because it's the number one issue.
[00:26:33] I mean, if you think that's going to motivate a critical mass of voters, once again, I'm not an expert, but we'll see if it works.
[00:26:44] So Politico had a piece going back to the summer, okay, back in July.
[00:26:53] This has been a problem that Democrats have identified.
[00:26:58] They have a man problem.
[00:27:01] Politico magazine had a very lengthy write-up saying it's hard to deny that Democrats have a masculinity problem.
[00:27:09] Attitudes towards masculinity have been an important predictor of votes for Donald Trump.
[00:27:14] And while black and Latino voters still overwhelmingly lean Democrat, men in those communities are turning to Republicans at higher rates than women.
[00:27:24] Republicans seem all too happy to capitalize on the gun-toting, fist-pumping tropes of stereotypical manhood.
[00:27:33] Gun-toting and fist-pumping.
[00:27:35] This is, did you know that this is, these are male stereotypes?
[00:27:39] Just fist-pumping?
[00:27:41] Okay.
[00:27:41] Okay.
[00:27:42] GOP presidential candidates are bragging about their athletic prowess.
[00:27:46] Missouri Senator Josh Hawley's recent book, Manhood, the Masculine Virtues America Needs, joins a body of let men be real men work that includes the preachings of Jordan Peterson,
[00:27:58] the postings of Andrew Tate, who is just awful, and the writings of a popular online guru who goes by Bronze Age Pervert, never heard of him,
[00:28:07] all of whom cast liberals and progressives as the enemy of masculinity.
[00:28:11] Well, look, do you think that it's, do you think abortion is the top issue for dudes?
[00:28:17] Seriously.
[00:28:19] Just in general.
[00:28:20] I'm not saying all men, hashtag not all men.
[00:28:24] Do you think all, like, in general, do you think men view abortion as the top issue?
[00:28:32] Do you think they're going to vote for candidates in, like, for governor, for attorney general, or for president?
[00:28:39] No, they do not.
[00:28:41] In fact, like, the economy is more important even to women.
[00:28:49] So, when you make your campaign all about reproductive health, oh, did you see what they did?
[00:28:55] They brought all these abortionists onto the stage all wearing their white doctor coats, you know, at a Harris rally over the weekend.
[00:29:02] They got, like, I don't know, a dozen of them up there, which, yeah, I mean, so that was, like, the safest day for babies in utero in American history, I think.
[00:29:13] Because they were all in one place.
[00:29:14] They were all, like, not doing abortions.
[00:29:16] And so they're all on the stage.
[00:29:17] And somebody in the stands, when they were, I guess, really upset that Beyonce didn't actually sing, then they collapsed in the stands.
[00:29:24] And, well, a lot of them left, actually.
[00:29:26] A lot of people left because she didn't sing.
[00:29:28] She came out there and spoke for, like, two minutes, probably cost the Harris campaign, like, $7 million.
[00:29:33] Beyonce makes a couple of comments, walks off.
[00:29:35] People are all mad.
[00:29:36] They leave.
[00:29:37] And then somebody has some sort of a medical emergency.
[00:29:40] And the abortionists on the stage, they just stand there.
[00:29:44] These are doctors.
[00:29:46] Like, is there a doctor in the house?
[00:29:47] Like, sorry, no, we're just into the killing part of the doctor and not the saving of a life, I guess.
[00:29:54] All right, that'll do it for this episode.
[00:29:56] Thank you so much for listening.
