[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Mark Starling, morning guy up in Asheville, joins us. He usually joins us for a Wednesday Western North Carolina hit, but he is joining us today on Thursday because yesterday Donald Trump was in Asheville, a.k.a. the cesspool of sin. And Mark Starling joins us now.
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And so, Mark, I was happy to see no assaults of the elderly rally attendees after this Trump rally as opposed to what we saw, I guess it was, what, eight years ago or so, or maybe four years ago.
[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_02]: 2016 is when that one happened.
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_02]: It was eight years.
[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember when all the melee took place, you and I were actually live on the air together during that rally.
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So yesterday was definitely a 180 turnabout from what it was in 2016.
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Here's the interesting part, though.
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_02]: The rally did not take place in the arena.
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_02]: The rally took place in the Thomas Wolfe Theater because the city apparently would not give access to the campaign or to the arena to the campaign.
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, hang on, because I covered this yesterday that he was appearing.
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And for folks who aren't aware, the Civic Center, which is downtown, has two portions to it that are connected.
[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: One is the larger seat arena that's got like, what, seven, eight thousand seats.
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you've got the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium where it's much smaller.
[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like 2000, 2500 seats, whatever.
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's attached.
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's like a single entrance into the same facility.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: But they put him in.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: So I thought that they had booked initially.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought they had booked the bigger part now.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And then yesterday I found out, oh, they've got him at the Thomas Wolfe.
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_01]: That's odd.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought it had something to do with the pricing or maybe the number of attendees or something.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But you're saying that the city restricted their access to the smaller venue.
[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, from what I'm being told from sources that I've got through the news department, they basically, it was a safety precaution.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_02]: That they didn't feel they would, they might not be able to facilitate, you know, a crowd of 6,500 inside with the way things were.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So what they ended up with was a crowd of 1,800 inside.
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Now the crowd outside, I got a call at 10 o'clock in the morning that said that there was roughly between 10 and 15,000 people lining Haywood Street,
[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: basically starting at the Civic Center and running all the way down Haywood Street, all the way down to Pritchard Park,
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: and all the way down to Lexington Avenue from one direction and then all the way up, probably full box the other direction as well.
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So those folks, the first 1,800 got in.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Those folks that were outside, a majority of the street.
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I left the area right about, I guess it would have been about 535, 45 shortly after it ended.
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And there were still probably 3,000 to 5,000 people in the street.
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_02]: But overall, no issues.
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I think there was, if I had to guess, there was 45 to 50 protesters.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was the usual Asheville breed, a 70-year-old woman holding a sign made from the top of a shoebox,
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_02]: probably a designer shoebox that said something salacious about Trump or something like that.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And that was about it.
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there were more vendors than there were actually protesters.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So, okay, so you are going to appreciate this analogy.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the traveling Trump rallies for the last several years, I think it has become basically like Grateful Dead shows.
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_02]: It has, just minus the LSD and the marijuana.
[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Are we sure about that?
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_02]: No.
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's Asheville.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, that's kind of, you know, they hand that stuff out when you actually get into town.
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Ah.
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_02]: It's part of the welcome package, from what I understand.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So, not only do you have the lot scene with the vendors and such and all the people dressed up and, you know,
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: everyone's partying, having a good time, seeing their old pals from previous stops and stuff.
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But then when you go into the show, you get, you know, all of the hits.
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: But then you also get these jam sessions that Trump does where he's just kind of riffing and he's like just making it up as he goes.
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And so that's what you're there for.
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like in those moments between the prepared text that he's writing off the teleprompter, in those riffs, that's what you're there for.
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a very Jerry Garcia style, if you will.
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And he did.
[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Look, he played the hits yesterday.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_02]: It was marketed as a policy town hall over economics and crime.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_02]: There was no policy whatsoever.
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_02]: There was some great taglines, right?
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: There was some great lines like drill, baby, drill, or, you know, don't tax tips, that type of thing.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_02]: But as far as how he's going to do that or what he's going to do, there was none of that.
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, it was 90 minutes of Trump playing the hits.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Though he did stick to economics and crime for the most part, though he did lead into some immigration.
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_02]: But he said it at the start of the rally.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he said, look, this is an economic, this is focused on economics and crime.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk a little bit about immigration, but we're also going to throw in some of that stuff that we all really like.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, there's the greatest hits.
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And what I found to be, I don't know about, well, maybe odd, but also this is what the headlines now are focusing on, is that he made reference at least twice that I heard.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: He made reference to, like, this idea that his advisors have told him he needs to talk about the economy, but he doesn't, he doesn't.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't even think that's the biggest issue, but they say it's the biggest issue, so we got to talk about it kind of a thing.
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And I remember there was an old programming director who told me, if you don't want to talk about a topic, don't talk about the topic.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you are going to talk about it, definitely don't say, I don't feel like talking about this topic, and then proceed to do so.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what he did twice, and so, of course, we get the headlines now of, like, here's Charlotte Observer.
[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: At NC Rally, Trump says he's not sure economy is most important issue facing voters.
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, look, maybe he's playing multidimensional checkers again or something, and now you've got media that are going to, like, lampoon him for not believing the economy is a big issue,
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and thereby making the media focus on the economy more.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So maybe that's the effort here, but I'm not – like, I think he just – he wanted to talk about the other stuff,
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and he wanted to bash Biden and bash Kamala, and that's what the crowd wanted to hear.
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what they got most elated about and worked up over.
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, and again, I think that plays well for them.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: But anybody that's sitting on the fence – and I don't know how many people are really sitting on the fence anymore, I'll be honest with you –
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_02]: anybody who is undecided, it doesn't play well for them, right?
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's funny, because I've been doing live hits with radio stations all across the country today,
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: and almost every host has said the exact same thing on that same line of people are just getting tired.
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It's getting old.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing new coming from it.
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And unless you really want to tune in and watch, you know, 40 to 45 minutes of him bashing Kamala Harris
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and then another 45 minutes of, you know, a pre-prepared speech, there's not much left for it.
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: So it seems like the campaign has become boring, in a sense.
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Right. Well, it's because it's the same – it is a lot of the same language.
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's the same sort of delivery where – and that's part of – I mean, it's just part of the issue of being a candidate for now three election cycles, right?
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that people know who you are.
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a term for a group of voters.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a large block of them, but they're called, I think, double haters.
[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: These are people that hate Trump and hate Biden.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't want either of those guys.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And so – but they were going to go vote, and they were just going to vote for the one that they hate less.
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And what the Kamala Harris campaign now offers to that group of people is somebody that they don't know anything about,
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and she's not going to give them any kind of information if she can help it.
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And so they're just going to say, well, now that Biden's out, now she's not somebody I hate, and so I'm going to vote for her.
[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's interesting because I did talk to a couple of protesters yesterday,
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_02]: and I asked them, I said, you know, what is it about the Harris campaign?
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_02]: What policy from the Harris campaign is it that's earning you or earning her your vote?
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't say joy.
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't you say joy.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_02]: All of them said the same thing.
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_02]: She's a female, and she's a woman of color.
[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_02]: There is no policy vote for a Harris voter.
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_02]: There's just not.
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_01]: There doesn't have to be.
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_02]: No.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's the thing.
[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's what they were hoping for anyways, right?
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: They were hoping that no one wanted to talk about policy and no one wanted to talk about issues,
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_02]: and that all they really needed to do was parade somebody out that looks a little bit different
[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_02]: and is kind of new and flashy.
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think I've heard you refer to it like the Obama 2.0, and that's exactly what she has become.
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and it doesn't work unless you've got a compliant media to help sell that package.
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, uh, listen, I don't think anything changes about the landscape at this point.
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think it's either one of theirs to lose, but I think only one of them is going to get
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: the cover from the media, and we know that's not Trump.
[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that this election is going to come down to whoever gets the most votes in, uh,
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: the key states.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_01]: You would think.
[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm thinking.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to, it's all, it all comes down to turnout as a, yeah.
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I did, I did want to tell you, I did see your favorite, your favorite Asheville journalism
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: or yesterday.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I just want you to know, he had the 10W30 oil change in his hair.
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So everything.
[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Glad to hear it.
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Mark Starling, morning guy, WWNC in Asheville.
[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Mark.
[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate it.
[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You got it.
[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm in here.
[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: This audio is from the Trump rally in Asheville yesterday.
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Donald Trump starts off by saying Joe Biden is mad.
[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: He's angry.
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Biden is a very angry man.
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_05]: You know that, right?
[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Because they, they took it away from him.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_05]: They usurped it.
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_05]: They took it away from him.
[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Terrible, terrible.
[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm not sure that they picked the right guy in him, but he got 14 million votes.
[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_05]: He got 14 million votes.
[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_05]: He got no votes.
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_05]: And you look at what happens.
[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_05]: That's not the way it's supposed to happen.
[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, they are a threat to democracy, right?
[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_05]: As they say.
[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_05]: They are a threat to democracy.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's, I think that's a pretty good attack line.
[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You're the threat to democracy.
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at what you just did.
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: You pulled a coup against your own president, right?
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Then he gave a bunch of shout outs to the various local elected and party officials.
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And then.
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_05]: But we're way up.
[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_05]: So I want to thank you.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_05]: We've had a tremendous experience here.
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_05]: We won every time we were in the special place.
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, my son, you know, he, uh, he and his wonderful wife, you know who I'm talking
[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_05]: about Lara.
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Lara.
[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Lara.
[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_05]: But Eric and Lara, they named their beautiful daughter Carolina.
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I said, which one are you talking about?
[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, you know, today I'm going to say it's North Carolina, right?
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Now she was, she was born here, raised here.
[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm sure it's a big reason we've done so well here.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_05]: She's great.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_05]: She's really terrific.
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_05]: And he is a great young man.
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you know, I'm a little prejudiced perhaps because it's my son a little bit, but they're
[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_05]: a great couple.
[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And thank you very much.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_05]: We appreciate it.
[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_01]: So what was that actually?
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Lara.
[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Lara.
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Lara.
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I did like the joke about Carolina and he's like, well, so today I'm going to say
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_01]: North Carolina, right?
[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: But she is from North Carolina.
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's pretty clear that she probably named it after our state.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So I guess probably in a related story, Trump just lost South Carolina.
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_01]: No.
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't understand that the, the name thing there that he's doing, but maybe he's
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_01]: just, you know, messing around.
[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_01]: He's joking, whatever.
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: But then he mocked the Democrats for their corrupt nominating process.
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_05]: How did he, how did he do in the debate?
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Then they put in another candidate.
[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_05]: This is like you have two fighters and one guy's losers.
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_05]: They say, come on out.
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's put in another one.
[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_05]: So then, uh, tag team, they put in another candidate and we're doing very well considering
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_05]: the fact that, uh, she has the greatest press.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_05]: She went from being a totally disrespected person six weeks ago.
[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Nobody thought she had a chance.
[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Nobody.
[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_05]: And I don't think she can possibly win.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_05]: If she does, our country's finish.
[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_05]: You want to know the truth.
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_05]: But she was totally disrespected.
[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_05]: The most unpopular vice president in the history of our country.
[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_05]: And then they decided to get politically correct.
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_05]: We have to put her in.
[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_05]: They put her in and now they're putting her on the covers of Time magazine with an artist
[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_05]: sketch.
[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_05]: They don't use a picture.
[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_05]: They don't use a picture.
[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_05]: They use an artist sketch.
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I want to use that artist.
[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I want to find that artist.
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I like him very much.
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_05]: But we're going to beat her also.
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And they may then get a third candidate.
[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Who knows?
[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_05]: This is a little bit different than we're supposed to be doing.
[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_05]: You're supposed to have a candidate.
[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, we spent probably a hundred million dollars on beating him.
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Then we had a very good debate.
[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And we beat him.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_05]: And they said, well, instead of letting it go, who knows what happens, right?
[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_05]: It's the world of politics.
[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_05]: They say, we want him out.
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Joe, you're getting out now, Joe.
[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, I want to get out.
[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_05]: I have 14.
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_05]: You're getting out now, Joe.
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_05]: We can do it the nice way or we can do it the hard way.
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And he's getting out.
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_05]: He's getting out.
[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_05]: In fact, they're not even giving him a good spot to speak.
[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_05]: You know when he's speaking on Monday.
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Monday is not the worst day.
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_00]: He takes a shot at it.
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Because I guess he is.
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be speaking at the Democrat National Convention.
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And they put him up on day one.
[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So I think he'll probably come out at the end.
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like a symbolic passing of the torch.
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they should do it like the Olympic torch.
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Like an actual passing of the torch.
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: You know?
[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Kamala takes the torch and then turns.
[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And they'll have like a big sign there that says, the democracy.
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And then she'll just like set it on fire.
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Very symbolic.
[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_01]: By the way, the Harris-Walls campaign says that they have agreed to three debates.
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Two between the presidential contenders and one vice presidential debate.
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see if they happen.
[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Donald Trump in Asheville yesterday.
[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Going on his riffs.
[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And I mentioned earlier the headline over at the McClatchy papers that at NC Rally, Trump says he's not sure economy is most important issue facing voters.
[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And Politico had this headline.
[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump moves to tie Harris to Biden on the economy.
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Quote, they are a team.
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_01]: How dare he?
[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_01]: How dare he notice that Vice President Kamala Harris is the vice president?
[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_01]: So here is when he said, one of the instances where he said that the speech, the focus of the speech yesterday was supposed to be about the economy.
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_05]: This is what talking about a thing called the economy.
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_05]: They wanted to do a speech on the economy.
[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_05]: A lot of people are very devastated by what's happened with inflation and all of the other things.
[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_05]: So we're doing this as a intellectual speech.
[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_05]: You're all intellectuals today.
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Today we're doing it and we're doing it right now.
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's very important.
[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_05]: They say it's the most important subject.
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I think crime is right there.
[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I think the border is right there personally.
[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_05]: We have a lot of important subjects because our country has become a third world nation.
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_05]: We literally are a third world nation.
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_05]: We're a banana republic in so many ways.
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_05]: And we're not going to let that happen because we're starting a free fall.
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm thinking I might keep this part for drops for my show from now on.
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_05]: You're all intellectuals today.
[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we are.
[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: We are all intellectuals today.
[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_05]: You're all intellectuals today.
[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I got to go back and pull that clip.
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I forget.
[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was in his press conference.
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Let me make a note here.
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_01]: D.
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_01]: J.
[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_01]: T.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Presser.
[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Brain.
[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Because he said something about how he's not a fan of Joe Biden's brain.
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he said what he said.
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I got to get that.
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I'm not a big fan of his brain.
[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like.
[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've got a couple of them.
[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Like this one.
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Chinatown where they don't speak even English in that Chinatown.
[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know what I'm going to use them for.
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I just find them funny.
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_01]: This is one of the things.
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I agree with.
[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was.
[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Was it Elon Musk?
[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it wasn't Musk.
[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I forget who it was.
[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I think it was Piers Morgan.
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I was watching an interview that Piers Morgan did.
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And he talked about Trump.
[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And he said that Donald Trump is a very funny guy.
[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And I have always for now eight years.
[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Since he came on the scene and, you know, was running for office and stuff.
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he speaks in these words salads.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But like he's making jokes a lot of the time.
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And because of his delivery and the way he says it, a lot of the people in the media don't get the joke.
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_01]: They don't understand the joke just because that's it's in his delivery.
[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But if you're listening and you're, you know, like when he made the comment about, hey, Russians, you might want to check out Hillary's emails, whatever.
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, oh, my gosh, he wants the Russians to hack her.
[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_01]: No, he's making a joke about her fake.
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Not fake, but her email server.
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And how she was running this homebrew server and nobody could get access to the stuff because she wiped it like with a cloth, you know.
[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up, he says under Biden, Harris, the American dream is dead.
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Her radical liberal policies have caused horrific inflation decimated the middle class and gutted the finances of millions and millions of American families.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Real incomes are down by over two thousand dollars a year per family.
[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that's a lot of money.
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_05]: They're down by that.
[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's actually much more.
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_05]: If you figure it a certain way, if you add some other categories and it's much more than that.
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_05]: But down by two thousand since she took office and it was just announced that real earnings were down once again at a record rate.
[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_05]: The Harris price hikes have cost the typical household.
[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Twenty eight thousand dollars.
[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Congratulations.
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Hope everyone's happy.
[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_01]: The Harris price hikes.
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I got to believe that we're going to hear more of that.
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He then says average mortgages in America have tripled.
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_05]: The present suffering that she's caused along with Joe Biden.
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And by the way, they're a team.
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, she's trying to throw him overboard.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_05]: She doesn't want to know who he is anymore.
[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_05]: She doesn't want to talk about him anymore.
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_05]: She says, let's not bring this guy in.
[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's not bring him in.
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_05]: No, no.
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_05]: They were a team.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_05]: He appointed her as border czar and she did the worst job in the history of borders.
[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I will tell you.
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Does anyone here feel richer under Kamala Harris than Crookie Joe than you were?
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Or during the Trump administration is anything less expensive under Kamala Harris and Crookie Joe?
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't believe so.
[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is one of the most infuriating parts of these economic discussions when you actually hear them.
[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And the narrative crafting and such around like the inflation number that came out, I think, yesterday.
[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And they were saying, oh, well, see, it's it's only it's only gone up.
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It's cooling.
[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, inflation is cooling because it was like two point nine percent or something like that or two point two percent.
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I forget.
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: It was over two percent.
[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And so the spin is that, look, it's it's only it's cooling.
[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's slowing down.
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But it never it never goes back to what it was.
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: The inflation from four years ago, three years ago, is now built into the current price.
[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So a two percent increase this year is on top of the three or four percent the previous year and the 12 percent in the previous year before that.
[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_01]: It hasn't gone back down.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't get that back.
[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_01]: You have to have wages that catch up and then surpass.
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You've got to have wage growth that is surpassing the rate of inflation in order to make up some of that inflation.
[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And we're not seeing it.
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_01]: That's why we have less purchasing power.
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: You have taken a pay cut.
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody has taken about a 10 to 15 percent pay cut over the the three and a half years of the Biden administration.
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Kamala Harris said that she's going to tackle inflation on day one.
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Day one.
[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But as Donald Trump noted in his rally speech yesterday in Asheville, her day one was three and a half years ago.
[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_05]: When Kamala lays out her fake economic plan this week, probably will be a copy of my plan because basically that's what she does.
[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Just remember, she goes to work every morning in the West Wing.
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Her desk is 10 steps from the Oval Office.
[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_05]: She has.
[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_05]: She cast the tie breaking votes that gave us record inflation.
[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_05]: And for nearly four years, Kamala has crackled as the American economy has burned.
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_05]: What happened to her laugh?
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I haven't heard that laugh in about a week.
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_05]: That's why they keep her off the stage.
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_05]: That's why she's disappeared.
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_05]: That's the laugh of a crazy person.
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I will tell you, if you haven't told her, it's a crazy.
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_05]: She's crazy.
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what the audience came to hear.
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't laugh.
[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't laugh.
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_05]: No, her laugh is career threatening.
[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_05]: They said don't laugh.
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_05]: She hasn't laughed.
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_05]: She doesn't laugh anymore.
[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_05]: It's smart, but someday it's going to come out.
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_05]: That's the laugh of a person with some big problems.
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_05]: She says her plan is going to be and bring down prices.
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_05]: She thinks she's going to bring down prices.
[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And why?
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Here's a simple little few words.
[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Why didn't you do it, Kamala?
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Why didn't you do it?
[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_05]: You've been there three and a half years.
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Why aren't you doing it now?
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_05]: You can do it right now.
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a fair.
[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Look, that's a fair question.
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Why not do it right now?
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: If you've got some plan to bring down inflation, why is it a day one thing?
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: You're already in the White House.
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: You're the vice president.
[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And you're the president in waiting, right?
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Why wouldn't Joe go along with whatever plan you think is going to drive down inflation for everybody?
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: He said that Kamala is waiting for him to announce his plan.
[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_01]: So then she can copy it like she did with the no tax on tips.
[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But she won't do the things that she promises on the campaign trail.
[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_01]: She's just stealing his ideas to get elected is what he said.
[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_05]: You're paying the price for Kamala's liberal extremism at the gas pump, at the grocery counter, and on your mortgage bill and on everything else.
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_05]: How about your car insurance?
[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_05]: How's that doing?
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Not too good, right?
[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_05]: I saw today it's up like 82%.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_05]: We're not going to let this incompetent socialist lunatic keep breaking our economy for four more years.
[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_05]: It'll destroy our country.
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_05]: On election day, we're going to tell her that we've had enough, that we can't take it anymore, Kamala.
[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_05]: You're doing a horrible job.
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_05]: You were a terrible attorney general.
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_05]: You were a terrible district attorney.
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_05]: You're the worst vice president in history.
[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Kamala, you're fired.
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Get out of here.
[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Go.
[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Get out of here.
[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, that's what the crowd was there for.
[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what they love.
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, does that reach persuadables?
[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But that's what the crowd loves.
[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_01]: They ate it up.
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_01]: He also said Harris defrauded the American public by not telling us about Biden's cognitive decline.
[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Called her a radical who hasn't done an interview yet.
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And like what now?
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: It's been 25 days or something.
[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know why she hasn't done an interview?
[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Because she's not smart.
[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_05]: She's not intelligent.
[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_05]: And we've gone through enough of that with this guy, Crooked Joe.
[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_05]: He didn't do interviews either.
[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_05]: They kept him in his basement.
[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_05]: And essentially, they're keeping her in the basement the same way they kept her.
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_05]: They don't want to expose her to like a question.
[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Like, what did you have for dinner tonight?
[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Remember, Joe?
[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_05]: What kind of ice cream is your favorite?
[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Vanilla.
[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I like vanilla.
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_05]: That was George Flopidopoulos.
[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_05]: He asked him that.
[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_05]: What?
[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_05]: What's your favorite ice cream?
[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_05]: With me, they asked me a little bit different question.
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_05]: That's all right.
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Did everybody the other night see Elon and me?
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_03]: All right?
[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_05]: That's great.
[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So, like, there and again, he's just riffing.
[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he's making a comment about interviews.
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, by the way, did you see me with Elon Musk?
[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, just these flights of ideas, right?
[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: This boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the way his mind is going, just bouncing, you know, between all these different ideas
[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_01]: and topics.
[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_01]: He called Tim Walls a clown a couple times.
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he talked about the chart of the immigration, the, you know, the border crossings
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and the explosion of border crossings under the Biden-Harris administration.
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he says that's his favorite chart.
[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_05]: That is my all-time favorite graph, not only because it shows the best border, but for another
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_05]: reason, I tell you what, I'm glad I looked around to look at it.
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I go, wah, pew.
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_05]: That was, that's my favorite of all time.
[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_05]: He's, he's like, wait, what?
[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Wah, pew.
[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_00]: It's, he's, he's talking about the bullet right there.
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Wah, pew.
[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_01]: He turns to look at the chart at the rally.
[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And just as he turns to look at the chart is when the bullet is fired.
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Wah, pew.
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why that's funny to me.
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, not enough time.
[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Not enough time to be fair to another caller.
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to stay on the line, Winston and Darna, I'll get to you guys after the,
[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_01]: after the top of the hour newscast here.
[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump also, he, he held up the Tic Tacs, called it like the best advertising that they're ever
