[00:00:35] or just all of these individual people that are going up to Manhattan and appearing outside

[00:00:43] before and after Donald Trump's trial because Donald Trump has been you know hit with a gag

[00:00:49] order because he can't stop trash talking to everybody in the trial rightly or wrongly. I

[00:00:55] mean some of the stuff yeah no other defendant would be allowed to say and some of the stuff

[00:01:00] no other defendant would be chastised as he is so like I see I can see you know both sides on

[00:01:07] there are good people on both sides if you will but I think this is a really smart move

[00:01:13] because it gets his message out while allowing him not to run afoul of the gag order

[00:01:23] and so today House Speaker Mike Johnson showed up at the courthouse I've got his uh I've got the

[00:01:30] the statement here he only spoke for about six minutes I have not actually heard all of this

[00:01:34] so let's take a listen. Good morning everyone. Good morning. I called President Trump and told

[00:01:41] him I wanted to be here myself to call out what is a travesty of justice and I think everybody

[00:01:47] around the country can see that President Trump is a friend and I wanted to be here to support him.

[00:01:53] I'm here speaking with you outside because the court won't allow us to speak inside the

[00:01:58] building that's just one of the many things that are wrong here this is the the fifth week

[00:02:03] that President Trump has been in court for this sham of a trial they are doing this intentionally

[00:02:09] to keep him here and keep him off of the campaign trail and I think everybody in the country can see

[00:02:15] that for what it is. I'm an attorney I'm a former litigator myself I am disgusted by what is happening

[00:02:21] here what is being done here to our entire system of justice overall the people are losing faith

[00:02:27] right now in this country in our institutions they're losing faith in our system of justice

[00:02:33] and the reason for that is because they see it being abused as it is being done here in New York

[00:02:39] the facts here are very important facts are always important in a trial or at least they're

[00:02:43] supposed to be wait what the president's actions is in this matter were previously reviewed and no

[00:02:50] charges were filed why is that because there's no crime here now eight years later suddenly

[00:02:57] they've resurrected this thing they brought it back and why is that well just apply common sense

[00:03:02] everyone can see it's painfully obvious they were now six months out from an election day

[00:03:08] and and that's the reason that is the reason why they brought these these charges

[00:03:12] here and across the country what we've got here is a partisan democrat district attorney we have a

[00:03:20] biden donor judge and we have an assistant da who was recently a top official at the department

[00:03:27] of justice biden's doj and recently received over ten thousand dollars in payments from the

[00:03:33] democratic national committee well so what the star witness here is michael cohen i just listened to

[00:03:39] a few moments of his uh testimony this morning and it is consistent with what he's already done

[00:03:45] this is a man who is clearly on a mission for personal revenge and who is widely known as

[00:03:52] a witness who has trouble with the truth he is someone who has a history of perjury and is

[00:03:57] well known for it no one should believe a word he says today he lied to congress he lied to

[00:04:03] the irs he lied to federal election officials even cohen's own lawyer testified to a grand jury

[00:04:09] that he is not reliable so there's nothing that he presents here that should be given any way to

[00:04:15] at all by a jury and certainly not this judge the crime that they are accusing president trump of

[00:04:20] is falsification of business records but i think everybody knows he is not the bookkeeper for

[00:04:25] his company what president trump is innocent of these charges and again anyone with common

[00:04:32] sense can understand what is happening here in the midst of all this nonsense and corruption

[00:04:37] they have placed a ridiculous and unprecedented gag order on president trump

[00:04:41] they were overriding his constitutional right to defend himself from political smears from his

[00:04:45] harshest critics at the most important time he is soon to be officially the nominee of one of

[00:04:52] the major parties in our country running for president and they have him tied up here

[00:04:57] in this ridiculous prosecution that is not about justice it's all about politics and everybody can

[00:05:04] see that president trump is leading in swing state polling the american people see right through

[00:05:10] these politically motivated attacks i've been in 102 cities in over half the states in the last

[00:05:15] few months and i can tell you that no matter where we are around the country i've been doing

[00:05:19] large events people from all walks of life come to these events and they are concerned about

[00:05:24] this they are disgusted about this they are fed up they've had enough because they see what's

[00:05:30] happening it's impossible for anybody to deny that looks at this objectively that the judicial

[00:05:35] system in our country has been weaponized against president trump the system is using

[00:05:40] all the tools at its disposal right now to punish one president and provide cover for another

[00:05:48] and meanwhile along the among the atrocities here the judge's own daughter is making millions of

[00:05:55] dollars doing online fundraising for democrats they're using this trial as a hook it's so corrupt

[00:06:02] it's so corrupt and everybody knows it if albin brag thinks the american people will believe

[00:06:06] these absurd charges take a look at the turnout at trump events compare those to biden events

[00:06:12] by the way but in over 100 000 people in new jersey by some estimates far more than that

[00:06:17] because the lineup of people getting into the event was thousands deep as well that shows you

[00:06:22] where they are they know this trial is a sham they know that president trump is being mistreated by

[00:06:26] the judicial system and it's not just just this case of course this is a year long partisan

[00:06:33] wish which year's long and it's been going on for quite some time we're seeing the same thing

[00:06:39] in the classified documents case that one is so egregious the trial has been indefinitely

[00:06:43] postponed i'm working with chairman jordan of the house judiciary committee chairman comer

[00:06:48] of our oversight committee on measures to rein in the abuses of special counsel jack smith

[00:06:54] the latest revelation is that they've manipulated documents they might have tampered with the

[00:06:59] evidence in the case it seems and that doesn't surprise any of us in congress we have oversight

[00:07:04] responsibility and it is our objective and in our responsibility to hold them accountable

[00:07:10] these are politically motivated trials and they are disgrace it is election interference

[00:07:17] and they show how desperate the opposition that president trump has and how how uh how desperate

[00:07:23] they truly are the american people are not going to let this stand election day cannot hit get here

[00:07:28] soon enough and we will continue to shine a light on all of this in congress because we have that

[00:07:33] constitutional responsibility again i came here again today on my own to support president trump

[00:07:40] because i am one of hundreds of millions of people and and and one citizen who is deeply

[00:07:46] concerned about this so i'm glad to be here thank you all right he does not take questions and he

[00:07:51] walks away from the uh from the mics that are all set up outside of the courthouse there

[00:07:56] um so of course you know outrage has ensued here how dare he comment on these things i'm

[00:08:02] seeing people like he should be disbarred he's an attorney why why should he be disbarred

[00:08:09] what has he done what did he say there that that's a disbarable he said that it's a it's a sham

[00:08:18] by the prosecutor by the way that's the kind of stuff we hear all the time i've heard this

[00:08:21] for years i've covered trials for years and defense attorneys talk like this um

[00:08:27] he didn't level any personal attacks against the judge which is what got trump in uh trouble

[00:08:33] he did mention the judge's daughter but he's allowed to he's he's not on trial right he's just an

[00:08:40] observer he mentioned um the documents case that jack smith is in trouble now and they postponed

[00:08:49] the the trial and i mentioned that the other day did you know that there's also testimony

[00:08:56] in this trial in manhattan that alvin bragg's office also tampered with evidence have you heard that

[00:10:33] he's i guess he's gonna make some comments about something he's gonna sign and then he's gonna

[00:10:38] sit down and sign it and everybody's gonna be like yes that's our dictator um so manhattan

[00:10:44] district attorney alvin bragg's paralegal testified on friday that his office deleted from their evidence

[00:10:53] three pages of phone records between convicted liar michael cohen and stormy daniels's lawyer

[00:11:00] keith davidson without notifying former president donald trump's legal team

[00:11:05] that's a problem that's always a problem you get in criminal cases people walk free for

[00:11:12] stuff like that you know you don't turn over evidence as part of the discovery process for

[00:11:20] the opposing party's lawyers you know you you fail to turn stuff over you um you

[00:11:28] you delete stuff whatever like that's uh that that those are grounds for reversals and mist trials

[00:11:34] depending on the nature of the evidence well i shouldn't say unless of course like your

[00:11:39] name is you know hillary clinton and you're just you know wiping stuff with a cloth like that's

[00:11:45] that's a different thing all together trump attorney emil bovey or bove bovey questioned

[00:11:53] paralegal jaden jarmel schneider about three pages of phone records from 2018 between

[00:12:02] keith davidson that's stormy daniels's lawyer and michael cohen bragg's office

[00:12:09] had the records and then they deleted them that's according to cnn brian a lineman writing at the

[00:12:16] federalist dot com says additional phone records between daniels manager jena rodríguez and the

[00:12:22] national inquirer editor dylan howard regarding stormy daniels's claim about her alleged affair

[00:12:27] were also deleted well i mean that would make it a little bit more difficult you know to

[00:12:34] to prove if there was some sort of collusion going on to make up a story or if it was just

[00:12:39] kind of a shakedown operation going on you just oops delete all the records and i will never know

[00:12:47] oh oh here comes the oh the president so joe biden just did not kidding no joke he did a he did a one

[00:12:55] step trot he like he like pulled up his elbows like he was gonna break into a a trot and then

[00:13:02] he just took one step and then he put his hands back down i guess he remembered like x-nay on the

[00:13:07] say i don't even know how to do that thing but yeah don't do that anymore another win for trump

[00:13:13] joe biden now adopting trumps policies on trade um that's what this is about uh so

[00:13:22] up in washington joe biden is uh addressing a crowd here he's uh not in great shape today well here

[00:13:30] and just take a listen those areas know well more than 1800 iron workers still working

[00:13:35] in pennsylvania and ohio lost their jobs i'm not going to let that happen again that's why today i'm

[00:13:40] announcing new tariffs and key sectors of the economy that ensure that our workers are not held

[00:13:45] back by unfair trade practices they include the thing i'm announcing today 25 tariff on chinese

[00:13:52] steel aluminum products and we'll counter china's over capacity in these industries and we're

[00:13:57] making major investments in clean american steel aluminum clean american steel aluminum oh clean

[00:14:03] steel clean because of the way we manufactured here it's half as much carbon as steel made in china

[00:14:10] last month my administration announced a large investment in clean manufacturing

[00:14:14] in all of history up to 1.5 billion dollars and six clean steel projects across america

[00:14:21] creating supporting thousands thousands of union jobs next a 100 tariff on electric

[00:14:27] vehicles made in china people say wow yeah protectionism whoo yes because we're not going to

[00:14:35] let china flood our market making it impossible for american automated auto manufacturers oh my god

[00:14:42] compete fairly we're also implementing a 25 tariff on electric vehicle batteries from china

[00:14:48] and 25 tariff on critical minerals that make those batteries folks look i'm determined

[00:14:54] that the future of electric vehicles will be made in america by union workers period

[00:15:00] he's gonna make it do it by following international trade laws to do it american companies are

[00:15:08] investing tens of billions of dollars in electric vehicles and batteries what's going on with this

[00:15:13] bipartisan infrastructure law we're building a network of 500 000 charging stations all across

[00:15:19] america creating thousands thousands of i b w jobs across america as i think you had a start

[00:15:27] i'm going to do this as simple electric charging station has to be easy to find as a gas station

[00:15:32] and that's what this will be you're not going to have to worry about you're taking off and

[00:15:35] you're not going to be able to make it all across the country and one without having to

[00:15:39] figure something else out our partners around the world are making similar investments

[00:15:44] they also want supply chain for electric vehicles that isn't dominated by unfair trade practices from

[00:15:50] china america could continue to buy their business i want to make it clear notwithstanding what the

[00:15:56] other guy's saying what by any kind of car they want whether it's gas electric or hybrid

[00:16:02] but we're never going to allow china to unfairly control the market for these cars period next

[00:16:08] next

[00:16:10] no his left eye he keeps closing his left eye tariffs on chinese solar panel

[00:16:15] wait hang on and the left and the left part of his mouth is drooping down to the left

[00:16:20] or is drooping down it's like the left side of his face

[00:16:26] it's like pinched up and droopy we're putting a 50 percent tariff on semiconductors made in china

[00:16:33] these are those tiny computer all of you know this but for the public

[00:16:36] those little tiny because we're stupid i don't know where the chip is that power every day live

[00:16:41] everything from smartphones the automobiles the dishwasher satellites look look american

[00:16:46] vanity's cheap these what over time we stopped making them i don't know what the other overseas

[00:16:52] now thanks to my chips and science act one of the most significant investments ever

[00:16:57] in science and technology we're bringing this vital energy back home where it started

[00:17:01] in united states america finally we're putting tariffs on health equipment like masks and gloves

[00:17:10] the nurses and doctors wear every single day pandemic caught us any taught us anything we need

[00:17:16] to have a secure plot supply of essential supplies here at home folks i'd rather say he's reading

[00:17:22] all of my administration is combining investments in america with tariffs that are strategic

[00:17:27] and targeted it's a smart approach compare that to the prior what the prior administration did

[00:17:33] my predecessor promised increased american exports and boost manufacturing

[00:17:38] but he didn't either he failed he signed a trade deal with china they were supposed to buy 200

[00:17:44] billion dollars more than american goods instead china imports from america barely budged and

[00:17:50] now trump and the maga republic is wanting to cross the board tariffs on all imports

[00:17:54] from all countries if we elect it well that would drive up costs for families on an average of

[00:18:00] $1,500 per year swinton again simply doesn't get it wait so we tariffs drive up the cost

[00:18:08] even democratic friends say china's not on the rise wait hang on a second so tariffs when

[00:18:13] trump wants to do them that increases the cost of consumer goods but the tariffs when joe does them

[00:18:19] they do not increase the cost on consumer goods okay i think i got that right our trade deficit

[00:18:23] with china is down to the lowest level in over a decade and we're standing up against chinese

[00:18:28] government unfair economic practices now at the same time we're standing up for peace and stability

[00:18:37] across the taiwan straits i revitalized our partnerships with the pacific allies

[00:18:43] and india australia japan south korea the philippines pacific island nations i've made sure

[00:18:49] the most advanced american technologists we develop or invent can't be used by the china

[00:18:55] chinese government to undermine our national security frankly before it rains frankly uh

[00:19:01] all this tough talk on china never occurred to my predecessor to do any of that bottom line i want

[00:19:07] fair competition with china not conflict and we're in a stronger position to win that economic

[00:19:12] competition the 21st century against china than anyone else because we're investing in america again

[00:19:18] in american workers let me close be closer to this i come from scranton a town like a lot of working

[00:19:24] class blue class neighbors all across america scranting like racine wisconsin which i visited

[00:19:29] last week once the manufacturing boom town until trickle down economics came along and the middle

[00:19:34] class and racine got hollowed out six years ago my predecessor showed up carrying a golden

[00:19:39] shovel promising thanks to his new 10 billion dollar manufacturing complex would be building

[00:19:44] racine he said it would be the eighth wonder of the world big promises that never came true

[00:19:49] he used that golden shovel to dig a hole and then he fell into it well it's not on my that's the

[00:19:55] pop part of my well i'm delivering for racing wait what delivering thanks to the investment

[00:19:59] my administration microsoft he's racing through this i think to beat the rain new data center

[00:20:04] and racine creating thousands of good paying jobs because the view from scranton and towns like

[00:20:09] it a lot different than from marlago it's a view where that money doesn't determine your worth

[00:20:14] everyone's entitled to be treating with dignity and respect and everyone deserves a fair shot we

[00:20:19] leave nobody behind that's the america we're building together that's why i've never been

[00:20:23] more optimistic about our future and i'm really going fast because of the rain i knew it what

[00:20:28] i said that's why i have to remember who we are we're the united states of america and there

[00:20:33] is nothing there's nothing beyond our capacity oh he's getting shouty he's getting shouty he's

[00:20:39] better get out of the rain thank you very very much yeah it is starting to rain you could tell

[00:20:46] all right thank you oh we gotta sign something it's an everybody oh this is hilarious everybody's

[00:20:54] gonna get up behind him wow he's taking and then he just sat down wow and he can't open the pen

[00:21:18] and now he's handing out pens that weren't used to sign he's just handed them to some people

[00:21:23] all right good there you go that's joe biden slapping some tariffs on the chai comms take

[00:21:29] that chai comms totally different than the tariffs that president trump did when he was in office

[00:21:40] totally these will not affect our wallets unless of course you're buying i guess like an

[00:21:47] electric vehicle or something which i as i understand that nobody's doing anymore so we'll

[00:21:52] see people think i'm punishing them by playing joe biden okay and maybe yes there's a little bit of that

[00:21:58] in there but it's not intentional if i have to suffer you're coming with me no

[00:22:07] no i wasn't sure what the speech was about i knew it was economy related i just i saw

[00:22:11] that he was going to be doing some address and i thought okay i'll you know kind of make a

[00:22:15] mental note of that and then i forgot to to circle back like jen pasack he would you know so

[00:22:20] i wanted to find out what it was about in case it was you know important um

[00:22:26] and a couple of comments uh seph says uh pete can you explain the difference between trump's

[00:22:33] mara lago beach property and scranton joe's place at rohoboth beach

[00:22:41] well i think you have to you have to be a little bit clearer seph he's got like three houses

[00:22:46] old lunch pail joe with his three homes i think he's got two beach houses or something right um

[00:22:56] seems like both are out of 95 of the u.s population's price range

[00:23:02] so i think the difference is that a court would value joe's property accurately versus mara lago

[00:23:11] that's the just for purposes of uh you know tax trial um tim says joe biden's protectionism speech

[00:23:21] so this is more bidenomics in action more inflation inducing measures trying to court the unions

[00:23:28] what would von mesis or murray ruthbard thing uh yeah the protectionism raises prices for consumers

[00:23:37] that's what it does it may make you feel good and look i understand the arguments for infant

[00:23:41] industries and such that the founding fathers talked about but the idea was i mean well i mean

[00:23:46] we're so far away from the original idea the concept of the use of tariffs and all of that

[00:23:51] but yeah protectionism makes you feel good and it may win you some votes and that's what this

[00:23:55] is about obviously it's a this was a campaign speech right wrapped up in a in a policy address

[00:24:04] he had he had a member of the steelworkers union there that spoke first before we joined

[00:24:09] it in progress there was a steelworkers uh some woman who was like the vice president of

[00:24:14] the steelworkers union there was another fellow up there i don't know who that was uh i wasn't

[00:24:19] paying attention there were two other people that spoke before biden and the second one was

[00:24:24] from the steelworkers union so yes this is about the union leadership getting on board

[00:24:29] with joe biden and joe biden throwing out the goodies for the union leadership now do you

[00:24:36] think the rank and file steelworkers are on board with joe over donald i'm thinking that's a bit of

[00:24:44] a harder sell thinking that what the leadership might prefer for president is not the same as what

[00:24:52] the union membership does um all right so trump is in court uh in manhattan for the quote hush money

[00:25:01] case which it isn't even well whatever jonathan terry had a write-up on this what uh yeah i don't

[00:25:07] know i'm not going to have time to get through all of it so i will uh i'll pick this back up in the

[00:25:11] next hour and then move on from there because there's there are some key points to keep in mind here

[00:25:17] as this trial starts heading into the home stretch which that's what it's doing the prosecution

[00:25:22] is expected to wrap up their case um by the end of the week i believe that's the timeline

[00:25:31] and at that point um the defense should i expect them to because this is sort of standard operating

[00:25:39] procedure in any kind of a case like really any kind of a case is that the defense makes a motion

[00:25:46] to dismiss saying that the prosecution has not proven their case and it's not even there's no

[00:25:53] point in even sending it to a jury right i think this is a directed verdict just drop it like

[00:25:58] this isn't even they've made they've made no showing of evidence that would lead a jury a reasonable

[00:26:05] jury to conclude that there's been a crime let alone to convict so i expect that to happen

[00:26:12] not that the judge is going to do it but that the defense will make that motion and then after

[00:26:18] i suspect the judge uh denies that motion then the defense is going to start presenting its case

[00:26:25] but the prosecutors are running out of time to actually you know make their case

[00:26:33] to present their and look maybe they don't have to that's what jonathan turley thinks
