Pete started the show reacting to the CMS' Elyse Dashew's announcement of masks being required in schools. We also reacted to Earnest Winston's audio comments. It led into a discussion of why they are mandating masks versus mandating vaccines. Pete said that he's NOT a fan of mask or vaccine mandates - but what he is a fan of is logic and following it - something he said no one in the school system or government is doing right now. He said people like Cooper, Mandy Cohen and Winston are "muddying the message" right now. Pete said that while people like Dashew and Earnest Winston are in the school system - HE does not want to be spoken to like a child. A caller phoned into Pete and said masks are going to ruin kids' immunity - she said the kids with the strongest immunities are the ones who roll in the mud and drink from hoses. Pete finished the hour playing Roy Cooper audio and asked - "If we had mask mandates in school LAST year to "save the children" - then why are we doing this again? To start the 1pm hour, a caller who is vaccinated was mad that his insurance premiums were going up because of the unvaccinated. Another caller said that if stores require you to show your vaccination card for entry, he has a website to get a fake card that he is going to use. The conversation continued with the idea that it's really millenials who are not getting vaccinated. During the 2pm hour, a caller said that we cant have vaccine mandates because we've never had polio mandates. Pete then returned to the Roy Cooper audio and was hoping to simply ask him, "What do we need to do to get out of this?". Pete said that if the goal is "zero deaths from COVID", that he fears we're never going to get out of this EVER and that our world right now may become a reality. He also warned people like Mandy Cohen saying that the Delta variant is more dangerous because there is a lot of unknown right now about the new variant.
