After Emotional Support Gov. Tim Walz's nationally-televised amplification of a lie about JD Vance and a couch, and former President Barack Obama's nationally-televised joke about Donald Trump's penis size... I am not terribly receptive to demands I be outraged at Trump re-posting a lewd joke about Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton. Plus, a shoving match at Arlington National Cemetery?

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: apparently
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Donald Trump
[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Retruthed is that what they call them retruthed
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Re-trueth socialed he well he posted up. He liked it or he re retweeted a
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: post on his truth social platform and
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: The post had a crude sexual comment about Kamala Harris
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, I would be way more
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Receptive to the criticism of Donald Trump
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_00]: retweeting or reposting or retruthing whatever
[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: this
[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: This post and I'll tell you what it said. I'll clean it up a little bit, but I'll tell you what it said
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Would be made more way more receptive to this criticism had the vice presidential nominee Tim Walls
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: aka
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_00]: He's a liar, but he's also the emotional support governor
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Would be made way more receptive had he not gone out onto a stage at the Democrat
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome party right where they announced that he was the nominee and
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Made reference to a crude sexual lie about JD Vance
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: right
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: your lamentations
[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: About the degradation of our political discourse
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Rings hollow
[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: You do not occupy any moral high ground in my opinion
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: when your guy comes out and
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Makes a joke and the crowd roars with laughter
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: over a vile
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_00]: disgusting lie about JD Vance and
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Then he he acknowledges
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_00]: He knows the joke that he just made Tim Walls did he said see what I did there
[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh, right so
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: We know what he meant. I know what he meant
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: So now you don't have any ground to stand on here to say that Donald Trump retweeting or reposting this crude
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Sexual comment about Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton by the way
[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not really about her it's more about Monica Lewinsky
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so here's the story from The Daily Beast which is so outraged Zachary folk
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: FOLK
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Folk make sure you do not jeopardize the FCC license by mispronouncing that last name anyway former president Donald Trump
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The Republican nominee for the presidency
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Reposted a lewd comment
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Comparing vice president Kamala Harris the Democratic nominee to his former arch rival Hillary Clinton
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Reposted during a wild spree of activity on his social media platform on Wednesday truth social the image
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Shows a screenshot of a post on Twitter. Oh, this is so annoying. All right
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So the pit it shows a picture and the picture is of Kamala Harris
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: cackling alongside of
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Hillary Clinton
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Right there they're posing together in this picture and they're smiling and happy and I I can't hear if
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Harris is cackling, but I assume she is it looks like the cackle face anyway
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_00]: There's the picture old black and white grainy photo
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Harris and Clinton and then the original poster had said quote
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: funny how
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Um
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Sex acts let's say funny how sex acts impacted both their careers differently
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh, right oh
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: This is the
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Shocked and outraged. I can't believe he would say such a thing. He actually didn't say it. He he reposted it
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: So he amplified the joke
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Noting that the same kind of sex act hurt one campaign and
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Helped another or or I should say political figure right hurt one helped one whatever and so the Daily Beast has to explain this
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And so the reporter if they are called that over at the Daily Beast says the post
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: likely refers to Harris's previous
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Relationship with former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown whom she dated in the 1990s
[00:05:54] But
[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Wasn't Willie Brown married at that time I thought this that was the whole scandal that it was an affair that he was
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Right wasn't that the anyway
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: In an op-ed written in the San Francisco Chronicle in 2019 Brown said that her
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_00]: association with him
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_00]: May have helped her career, but it didn't get him any political favors
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Well you were the mayor and
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: It helped her political career. It didn't get you any political favors
[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_00]: But is that why you were is that why you were having?
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The relationship was to get political favors of this person that at that point I don't believe maybe I don't think she was
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: the DA at that time so
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I suspect that's what their references good job Daily Beast
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And then of course the other references to Hillary Clinton and the sex act that anyway
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: So Donald Trump retweets that or reposts this onto truth social and I'm supposed to be shocked like oh my gosh
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Gasping clutching the pearls monocle into the martini glass outraged hit the fainting couch. How dare he?
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_00]: so on
[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: presidential
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_00]: again
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe if your VEEP hadn't
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Used the joke the lie about JD Vance at the nationally televised live event and
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_00]: The Democrats hadn't roared in approval, right? I
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I've heard what you cheer for
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Or how about the story about Kamala Harris
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh referring to North Carolina's now retired former senator Richard Burr
[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_00]: By a nickname that starts with a D
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Right
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she called him that and
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_00]: She told that story out on the trail and in appearances and stuff. Ha ha ha isn't this funny I called him
[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_00]: male genitalia
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So again, I know what you cheer for so no I don't care what
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Donald Trump is posting see this is what happens when you try to live by double standards where you always benefit from the lower standard
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Eventually people start following your standards
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I've given multiple examples of it over the years
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Donald Trump is the manifestation of all of that. I
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't look I lobbied against him
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Railed against Donald Trump in 2015. I tried to get people not to vote for us if we're better than that
[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: We shouldn't have this guy as our candidate. I lost the argument. So we are where we are
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't get to cry about it now. These are your standards
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: These are your rules. We're all playing by him now
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't like it, I am interested to hear about how we move forward and
[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Reject all of this kind of stuff
[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: But you don't get to keep playing by a set of rules that lets you make all of the jokes and the other side can't make any jokes
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_00]: pretty simple
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of like using Arlington National Cemetery in
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Photographs and video kind of like that see when your guy puts out a campaign ad of him at
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Arlington National Cemetery in order to promote
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm with the military and the military loves me and all of that
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't get to cry about a photo that is taken by a grieving family at Arlington and
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: The photo includes your opponent. See that's that that is a consistent application of the standard
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I am about. I'll explain in a moment
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: All right
[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey real quick if you would like to get your product or service in front of about 10,000 people multiple times a day
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Send me an email at Pete at the Pete calendar show calm and ask me about advertising
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It's super affordable
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_00]: it's baked into this podcast forever and
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Podcasts have a higher conversion rate than other social media platforms making it the best bang for your buck send me a message
[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Pete at the Pete calendar show calm and I can show you how it works run the numbers with you again
[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_00]: That's Pete news talk 1110 99 3 WBT
[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Lude jokes about your opponent now
[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Are outrageous?
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is a change from last week
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's a great point from Jeff in an email to Pete at the Pete calendar show calm
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Jeff says let's not forget
[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Obama's recent gesture concerning Trump's
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Size shall we say remember that I do Barack Obama during the DNC just last week
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Made a joke about crowd sizes and then did a motion with his hands
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Holding them, you know palm to palm about 12 inches apart and then shrinking the size down to a small and the crowd
[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Rored an approval that was on prime time
[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Television covered by all the networks. Nobody had any problem with that
[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_00]: See mockery and ridicule is totally fine when it's directed at the orange man or Republicans
[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: That's okay. We can make all of the jokes we want remember all the jokes about Mike Pence
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And now he wouldn't be in the room alone any room alone with a woman without somebody else there or with his wife, right like
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_00]: He never wanted to
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: There to be any kind of accusations against him and this was oh that's so weird. Oh my gosh. He's such a prude
[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Made all sorts of jokes about his manhood and masculinity and all of that
[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: That's all fine
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: You can say anything you want about all of those guys because they're Republican see it's when you have the big D shield
[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Aka the media right it protects you from all of these kinds of attacks
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_00]: It must be nice it like I could not imagine
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_00]: How easy
[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: The job would be for a Republican comms staffer or politician if they got the kind of kid glove treatment
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_00]: That Democrats get on the regular, you know
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So the the daily beast then references at the end of this story about the crude sexual comment at the very end it
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_00]: references
[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_00]: how Donald Trump's spree of posts on truth social
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Also came amid another difficult news cycle for the former president during which he was accused of
[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Disrespecting service members laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: really
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_00]: He disrespected service that was really because I thought he was there to lay a wreath
[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_00]: At the gravesite of one of the marines that was killed at the Abbey gate in Afghanistan
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_00]: During the botched withdrawal under the Biden Harris administration
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Three years ago like on the anniversary the family of one of the fallen service members apparently asked Donald Trump to attend
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_00]: he attended and
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Then somebody took a picture and the Trump campaign had somebody with them and apparently had gotten approval to be there to
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_00]: take video and photos and
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Now this is a this is disrespectful of
[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Service members of all the service members laid to rest at Arlington
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So there is a statement that the US Army has put out
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_00]: The spokesperson for the US Army says participants in the event at Arlington Cemetery quote were made aware of federal laws regarding political activity
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and quote abruptly pushed an employee this incident was unfortunate
[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: The ANC employee and her professionalism has been unfairly attacked
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: ANC stands for Arlington National Cemetery
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The the spokesperson put out the statement saying that they routinely host public wreath laying
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier for individuals and groups who submit requests in advance
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_00]: ANC conducts nearly three thousand such public ceremonies a year without any incident
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Participants in this ceremony and the subsequent section 60 visit were made aware of federal laws army regulations and DOD policies
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Which clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds an ANC employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_00]: consistent with the decorum expected at ANC the employee acted with professionalism and avoided further disruption
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_00]: The incident was reported to the police department, but the employee subsequently decided not to press charges
[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Therefore the army considers this matter closed. They called it unfortunate
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_00]: They say it's a national shrine to the honor dead of the armed forces and is dedicated staff will continue to ensure
[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Public ceremonies are conducted with the dignity and respect that the nations fall and deserve
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_00]: So what happened?
[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into it in a minute news talk 11 10 99 3 WBT
[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a statement here from the family
[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_00]: several family members of different
[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Fallen Marines at the abbey gate that invited Donald Trump
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_00]: To a ceremony marking the third anniversary of the deaths of their loved ones
[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: They said we would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to President Donald Trump for his presence at the recent section 60
[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Gathering section of the cemetery section 60
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Honoring our children and their fallen brothers and sisters on the three-year anniversary of the abbey gate bombing
[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_00]: The president and his team conducted themselves with nothing but the utmost respect and dignity for all of our service members
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Especially our beloved children
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_00]: We had given our approval for President Trump's official videographer and photographer to attend the event
[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Ensuring these sacred moments of remembrance were respectfully captured and so we can cherish these memories forever
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: We are deeply grateful to the president for taking the time to honor our children and for standing alongside us in our grief
[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Offering his unwavering support during a such a difficult time his compassion and respect meant more than words can express
[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And then there's a list of the family members one two three four five six seven different members
[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_00]: on the
[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_00]: On the statement so here's how the Daily Beast which is a lefty publication
[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's how they covered this story because and this comes from NPR the story was broken
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I believe by NPR and they cited a quote source with knowledge of the incident which I don't even know what that means
[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean a source with knowledge of the incident?
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: But
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Were they a witness did they see it happen? Did they read a report?
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: right like
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You need to describe this source a little bit better than just somebody with knowledge of the incident
[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_00]: anyway
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_00]: The Trump campaign has and by the way this here's why I am skeptical of all of these stories
[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Is that the first story that gets pushed out with anonymous sourcing?
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So many times over the last seven years turns out not to be true turns out not to be the case
[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: It turns out that there's some other
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Angle of video or there's a full context of the quote that they chopped out
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_00]: There's something else
[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: About the story that is withheld which alters
[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The story when it comes to Donald Trump. This is you know Trump derangement syndrome
[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_00]: This is what people talk about I say, you know Trump has broken people's brains
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: That's on both sides the pro-trump and the anti-trumpers like
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_00]: It is astonishing to me how people lose the ability to think and behave
[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Ethically when it comes to this guy
[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_00]: It really is this is his superpower is to expose people for the hypocrites that they are
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Not saying and that's not I'm not saying anything about him
[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying he's not a hypocrite on things, but his ability just by being
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_00]: It warps people just think for yourselves. My goodness. Anyway, the Trump campaign has denied a report
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_00]: That claims two aides on his team
[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_00]: verbally abused and
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_00]: shoved an official at Arlington National Cemetery during a wreath-laying ceremony on Monday
[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_00]: the source with knowledge of the incident told NPR on Tuesday that the Trump staffers became verbally and physically
[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_00]: belligerent after a cemetery official tried to prevent them from filming in
[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Section 60 a 14-acre area where US service members killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are laid to rest
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_00]: By the way
[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Think about how this story unfolds. How did NPR get this story?
[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Some person with knowledge of the incident went to them to tell them this story why
[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Always think about the why
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Why did somebody go to NPR and give them this story?
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Because they wanted people to know that Donald Trump sucks, right like that's the point
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: That this is an outrageous thing that happened. How dare he people shouldn't support him
[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Right, that's the reason why you would tell this story
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Trump was at Arlington to observe the anniversary of the
[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_00]: 2021 Kabul Airport attack a suicide bombing that killed 13 American service members and more than 150
[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Afghans amid the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan
[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_00]: NPR source
[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Said that it had been made clear to the Trump team that only cemetery officials were allowed to take photographs
[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Inside the plot the Trump campaign refuted the sources characterization of events in a statement to the Daily Beast
[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So I am assuming that that was not part of the NPR report, right?
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_00]: That the Trump campaign they said
[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_00]: There was no physical altercation as described and we are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made
[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well now I expect to see the the footage
[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_00]: That came from the campaign spokesman Steven Chung
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Who did not respond to the request by the Daily Beast to share the footage?
[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Which I think you kind of have to now you said that there's some footage you will release it
[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think you have to release it now
[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_00]: The fact is this is what Chung says quote the fact is a private photographer
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual clearly suffering from a mental health episode
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go back to that why question
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Why do you give the story to NPR?
[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_00]: right because you want
[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_00]: People to know what happened. Why do you want people to know what happened?
[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Right was with somebody injured with somebody harmed by this
[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_00]: right
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Not at this point
[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what Trump did with any of the video or any of the
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Photographs the family said that they asked him to be there bring his photographer along so they can
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_00]: memorialize the occasion
[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_00]: The Trump campaign says they got approval to do so
[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So you have a an
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Arlington National Guard or Arlington National Cemetery employee who
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Then tries to stop it from happening is
[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Quote verbally abused and shoved
[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: According to them the Trump campaign says that did not happen. They have video that shows it didn't happen
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_00]: so we'll see if there's a video about that but
[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Why would you then try to block it from occurring and why why is Steven Chung calling this person?
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Clearly suffering from a mental health episode
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Could it be that the employee may have act and I don't know if this is true by the way
[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me be clear about that. I have no idea who's telling the truth in this scenario
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_00]: But is it beyond the realm of possibility to imagine?
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_00]: That somebody who really really doesn't like Donald Trump and who would therefore go to NPR and tell them this story after the fact right?
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_00]: But is it possible that somebody might act a little deranged?
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Might act a little
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Suffering from a mental health episode esque right in their attempt to block an attempt to be a protector
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Is that possible?
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Sure, it's possible
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Arlington National Cemetery said that it could confirm there was an incident and a report was filed
[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I
[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Have not seen the report. Newstalk 1110 99 3 WBT 704 570 1110 email is Pete at the Pete calendar show dot com
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_00]: According to
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Arlington National Cemetery
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_00]: federal law
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Prohibits political campaign or
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_00]: election related activities
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_00]: within army national military cemeteries to include
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: photographers content creators or any other persons attending for purposes or indirect support of a
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_00]: partisan political candidates campaign
[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_00]: That seems to me to read like
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_00]: The Trump campaign should not have been there
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_00]: They should not have been there. They should not have videoed it. They should not have
[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Taken pictures of it right photographed it the family asked that Trump
[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Be allowed to be there and they apparently asked
[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_00]: That he be allowed to
[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_00]: bring his
[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_00]: videographer and his photographer
[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Stephen Chung with the Trump campaign spokesman
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Claimed in a tweet that the campaign had been explicitly granted permission to bring a photographer to the site
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: He shared a screenshot that appeared to show an unattributed email
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_00]: So he chopped out the who was from and this email
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Instructing the campaign that Trump was allowed quote an official photographer and or videographer
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_00]: outside of the main media pool
[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_00]: The Republican presidential nominee helped to lay wreaths at the tomb of the unknowns and then he spoke with families of the
[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_00]: abigate victims
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_00]: He was criticized for flashing a thumbs up and smiling during a graveside photo op while there
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_00]: He was standing with all of the family members so that picture was taken by one of the family members
[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_00]: That was their picture and they they all stood there and they had a picture taken with him
[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And they were all smiling and several of them gave the thumbs up. I
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Would submit that you should not be doing this. I
[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Think Trump should not have done that they should not have
[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_00]: If they wanted to go he could have gone don't bring the photographers don't bring the videographers. Don't do that
[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Just don't do it
[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_00]: That being said that should be the standard and when the Joe Biden campaign put out his video
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_00]: showing him at Arlington National Cemetery with names of the fallen on the graves
[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_00]: the
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_00]: headstones
[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_00]: That too
[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_00]: That too should not have been permitted, but here we are right here. We are
[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, I am for the consistent application of standards
[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you're not going to do it for Joe then I don't think you get to make a big deal about it when it's Donald
[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_00]: The Trump campaign has blamed the cemetery for a
[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_00]: confrontation the incident occurred when a photographer walked around the cemetery with Trump sparking concerns about violations of
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_00]: restrictions on political activities in military cemeteries according to the
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Cemetery's media policy filming and photographing is not authorized quote for partisan political or fundraising purposes
[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_00]: In accordance with the Hatch Act
[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the federal law that restricts the political activity of individuals employed by executive agencies and those who work for programs
[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_00]: financed by federal loans and grants
[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_00]: In a statement the cemetery confirmed an incident occurred a report was filed
[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_00]: No charges were filed I guess and there's no other information that we have gotten
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, the campaign says that there is some video of this confrontation and I feel like now we need to see it
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_00]: David welcome to the program. Hello, David. Welcome to the show
[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Joy you show thank you sir. What's going on? Yeah, I got a question
[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Race is always brought up when it comes to election
[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And keep in mind only 12 percent of populations black. Is that correct?
[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_00]: It depends well some states obviously have more you talking about the national population national population I
[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Want us that sounds correct
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I but I don't recall and well and I think it's 12% of the voting population
[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_00]: It may be more when you include kids, but I don't I don't remember the exact number
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's somewhere between 10 to 20 percent if I recall correctly. Yeah
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Why should either party blame?
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Not win the election because they didn't get the black boat
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand that
[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_00]: So well because one party particularly the democratic party they
[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, they would not win
[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_00]: general elections
[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_00]: but for
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_00]: the
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, the way black voters black uh black voters vote I should say
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_00]: They vote black voters tend to vote somewhere in the neighborhood of about 90 percent for democrats
[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_00]: If the black if the black voting demographic
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Voted like all other racial voting demographics do
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Democrats would never win these
[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh national races statewide races whatever
[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's why it's because all of because because it moved because the demographic moves as a block
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_00]: They vote as a block and so that then skews
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_00]: The results for democrats
[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, all right
[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I appreciate it. I'm enjoying. All right, man. Yeah, appreciate it. Um
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And this is by the way why the democrat party is so intent on keeping black voters afraid of republicans
[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_00]: This is why you get comments like joe biden made, you know
[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_00]: They're they're gonna keep you or they're gonna put you back in chains
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's why there's this constant fear mongering and racializing
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Rather than letting the country move forward people thought I remember in 2008 people thought
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we've elected a black president
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_00]: We can finally begin to start healing and moving on like look at us. We're progressive, right?
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_00]: We've gotten past all of this now
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And it just seems like things got worse
[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and things got worse because
[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have to go backwards
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_00]: a little bit sorry
[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening
