Say it ain't so! Thousands of illegal aliens registered to vote?! | Hour 2

All right, So, as I mentioned in the previous episode, this is just a recording for the podcast listeners because due to an internet outage at the studio, we were not able to do the live show on the radio today, and so just a peek behind the curtain. How this works is I go and I do the live show from the studio every day, and then we take the content from the live show, we chop it down, and then we put it up onto the podcast platform. And so each hour of the live show becomes an episode of the podcast. Here. So today I happen to be working remotely because my wife's car has an alternator that has to be replaced, and so she took my car into work, so I stayed home to work remote so she could drive my car, and then I started the radio show. In about not even ten minutes in, I think I noticed I got disconnected. And the internet at the studio has been glitchy to say the least, if not down completely for the entire duration of the show. So that's why I'm recording these episodes for the podcast audience. There's only going to be two today, just because we spent a good bit of time and I've got other stuff I got to do, and we spent a good bit of time trying to get back online, and so I don't have time to put three full episodes out today, but I did the show prep, so I might as well burn some of it here and give you guys some content. So that's why there's only two episodes today, all right, So all of that being said, Oh and also that means no phone calls or text messages, because basically the entire text line is where's Pete? What happened? Why are you playing a best of? Right? Well, that's why is because the internet went down and we were unable to connect remotely of all the days. So although it would have been difficult too because if I was at the studio. All the Internet would be down and I wouldn't be able to get text messages or emails, and we wouldn't be able to upload the podcast. So it's just it's just a mess. So maybe we need some more data centers. No, I'm kidding. I'm kidding, but not really. But okay, So I'm old enough to remember when President Donald Trump did a prime time like nine o'clock. I think it was speech about election integrity and about what the administration had been able to find about, you know, problems and vulnerabilities in the election system, and you know, people dismissed all of this as just the ravings of you know, Trump, who's always going on and on about rigged elections and you can't believe any of this. Yeah, it was like a week ago, right, that was a week ago, and then we find out, was it yesterday or maybe the day before, New Jersey has a bit of a problem. Yeah. So remember a week ago we had the Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schuma saying that Trump's latest attempt to lay the groundwork to rig the twenty twenty six elections and undermine democracy. Like this is how it was being framed, that everything he said is crazy town. You can't trust anything he says about any of this stuff. And then lo and behold, we get the announcement from New Jersey that well, actually, yeah, more than six thousand non citizens were accidentally accidentally added to New Jersey's voter rolls, and they blamed a software error at the State Motor Vehicles Commission, or the MVC, so we call it the dmv UP. In New Jersey they call it the MVC. So this was an announcement made by the governor of New Jersey, the woman named Mikey, Mikey Cheryl. She made this announcement Tuesday evening. I guess it was Tuesday afternoon. That six thousand, six hundred non citizens had been on the voter rolls. But don't worry. While they were registered to vote, there's only evidence that they had voted. That only about four hundred of them had voted in various elections since twenty twenty three. Okay, so don't worry. Sixty six hundred software error on the voter rolls, but don't worry, only four hundred of them voted over the last two years. Okay. That seems to me to be kind of I don't know exactly the thing that Donald Trump was talking about and has been talking about. An election integrity activists and advocates have been talking about, and I have been talking about for a very long time. This is the kind of problem because you have states that do not do voter roll maintenance to an adequate level. Now you can ascribe motive. I could do that too. It's quite easy to do. It's like, yeah, they don't want to clean up the voter roles because they want as many people on the voter rolls as possible, so they've got as many opportunities to commit fraud. Right, that's one motivation. The other could just be laziness. Now the Democrats will say, well, we don't want to disenfranchise a single vote voter, so we can possibly kick people off the voter rolls. Because if we kick them off the voter rolls, they'll be disenfranchised, even though they're not citizens, or they're dead or they moved away. We can't possibly communicate with other states to make sure that people who were registered to vote in our state aren't registered to vote in their state. We can't do that either, because that could possibly disenfranchise somebody. What if we make a mistake. We would rather err on the side of non disenfranchisement than to err on the side of disenfranchisement, Right, that could be their argument, Like that is there argue. That's the only argument that they have, really is that we are like intentionally not cleaning up the voter rolls because you know, we don't want to miss make a mistake and kick somebody off the voter rolls. Oh also, we don't want to share our voter roles with the federal gu government, so they could do a cross check to make sure that there aren't illegal aliens on our voter rolls either, because you know, no person is illegal. You know, these are humans, and you're going to create fear. Why would we be creating fear? If they are citizens and they're registered to vote in New Jersey, they would not pop up on an ICE database. Well what if their database isn't you know, up to date, like your database isn't up to date. At least this would identify some people and then you could do some follow up research. You could do the investigation which oh, by the way, New Jersey is now saying it has to do so sixty six hundred non citizens on the voter rolls due to a software error. Mm hmm. Funny thing though the software company, they're like, uh no, that's that's not on us. Slight problem. Here is the Governor of New Jersey, Mikey Cheryl, making the announcement. A serious software error in New Jersey's motor vehicle system led to the improper voter registration of what we believed to be roughly sixty six hundred people in our state. When New Jerseyans applied for a driver's license or identification at the MVC, they were asked if they wanted to register to vote. In the case of this error, some individuals indicated that they weren't citizens and weren't eligible to vote, but the software registered them anyway. The error in the software was corrected a year later, in June of twenty twenty four. That is more than two years ago. I learned of this last Wednesday, and I immediately ordered my chief counsel to launch a comprehensive investigation. Okay, Currently, the Division of Elections is working to ensure anyone who is illegally registered is removed from the voter rolls. Initial analysis shows that fewer than four hundred newly registered individuals voted in an election due to this software error. Okay, so I think I counted four mentions of software error. I think there was like three or four of them. Yeah, in that what one minute, twelve second sound clip? All right, software error. Keep that in mind. Politico reports the stunning announcement comes amid a push by Republican President Donald Trump's administration to crack down on non citizen voting, which the president claims frequently without factual basis. Well, wait a minute, wouldn't this be factual basis? By the way, she said her office was alerted to this a week ago. Who do you think alerted her? Would that have been I don't know. Maybe the Trump administration. In the wake of Trump's speech where they produced all of these documents, they put all of this stuff up onto the White House website, right, They put all this information out there. People started going through it and lo and behold, sixty six hundred non citizens are found on your voter rules due to the software error. Of course, but this is what media does, right. Trump makes the accusation and they say, you know, without evidence, but there is evidence. This is what we call evidence. The stuff that was posted onto the White House website is also what you would call evidence. Right anyway, the announcement aids Democrats. The president says, this aids democrats and elections. Early this month, the Department of Homeland Security alleged that New Jersey had more than thirty five thousand non citizens on its voting roles. Oh so interesting, so earlier this month, so like about a week ago, a week and a half ago, the DHS Department of Homeland Security said New Jersey actually has like thirty five thousand illegal aliens on their voting roles, but you announced their sixty six hundred due to the software error, which I'm not so sure that's actually the case. As described by the Politico reporters Joey Fox and Daniel Han, Cheryl said, there's no immediate proof that any of the roughly four hundred non citizens who cast ballots impacted the outcome of any individual election. Okay, but we don't know if they did, do we. Cheryl, a Democrat, said on Tuesday that the MBC error, which lasted from June twenty twenty three through June twenty four, pre dating her own tenure as governor by several years, arose during the application process for drivers licenses and ID cards. Sixty six hundred individuals marked themselves non citizens when they applied, but were added to voter rolls anyway. The accidental voters, oopsie, they're just accidental voters. They were scattered across the state and registered under a variety of party labels, with the majority of them being unaffiliated voters. She said, quote, we have no evidence that any elections were swayed. Here's another clip from the governor named Mikey Sheryl. Let me be clear, Donald Trump has zero credibility on the issue of election integrity. For the past ten years he's cribe wolf and peddled bizarre conspiracy theories. About fraud with no evidence. I saw the. Consequences of Trump's lives on January sixth. Oh. There it was in the Capitol when he and his. Followers tried to steal the election and put the lives of hundreds of members of our law enforcement at risk. Right, So there you go. See the real problem here is Donald Trump. The fact that you've got potentially what thirty five thousand illegal aliens on your voting roles, That's not the problem. Identifying sixty six hundred of them, four hundred of them of whom voted over the last two years, that's not the problem. The problem is Donald Trump doesn't have any credibility on this. He's the boy who cried wolf. Well, like, this is the wolf, lady, this is the wolf that he's crying about. He's saying, this is the problem here, it is, here's your evidence. But the real problem is Donald Trump. Right now, I have some I have some questions, and I'm not the only one, okay, and I'm just asking questions. So this is from Ed Morrissey over at hot air dot com. He says, the funny thing that never happens. Happened again at the DMV sixty six hundred times. Apparently my Democrats and media, but I repeat myself, paint illegal voting as mainly a conservative fever dream. We're constantly told voter fraud and non citizen voting are well. First, we are told, right, these are the three stages of the response from Democrats, which is, you know, first, it's not happening. He's making these claims without evidence. Right, That's the first thing that we always hear. And then when you are able to actually show them, oh, well here's somebody, here's somebody else, and here's somebody else, then you move to phase two. Phase two is okay, fine, it is happening, but it's just a teensy weensy little bit. It's just a smidge, you know, it doesn't have any impact. It's so small. It's like point one percent of all the votes cast. Right, That's what is usually then articulated in phase two. But then when you see numbers like this, and what the administration has said, and what Trump said during that speech was the ones that the Department of Homeland Security identified is actually somewhere around a quarter of a million illegal aliens that are registered to vote. That's that's more than a smidge, right, So I suspect at some point we're going to get to phase three, which is okay, fine, it's happening and it is kind of widespread. But here's why that's a good thing. Oh and by the way, you're the bad guy because you noticed it's not This is rule number two of journalisming right. When the scandal involves a Republican, the story is the scandal, But when a scandal involves a Democrat, the story is the Republican's reaction to the scandal. This is when you start seeing, you know, the attacks on people for noticing the thing that is scandalous. And then we'll usually get some advice from the obviously good faith actors Democrats and media members who are like, you know, Republicans better be careful not to overreach on this sort on their reaction to this. You don't want to overreach. You want to overplay your hand here. You know this could backfire against you if you, you know, highlight election vulnerabilities like that could be a bad thing for you. Because we know the Democrats care about the messaging prowess of the Republicans, right, Cheryl said that it's unacceptable that the vendor released software with this glaring error, as she called it. Okay, so the vendor in this case, now remember this is just through the motor vehicle's registration process, and we can thank you know, Bill Clinton's administration. They were the ones that did the motor voter law. So you go to get your driver's license and they ask you on the form do you want to register to vote while you're here? And you say sure, and then they ask you, hey, are you a citizen? And then you say yes or no. And what she is saying is that the people who said no still got registered to vote. See here's the thing, though, the vendor doesn't actually register the people to vote. The vendor just passes that information on to the state. Yeah, the state elections, folks, they're the ones that complete the registration. So when somebody says no, why are they being processed as a yes? Are you just outsourcing the approval process to the vendor. So anything that clears from the vendor that goes to the Board of Elections gets approved because it should never have gone to the Board of elections. Is that the idea? So you're just rubber stamping every single application that comes through, Right, that's what it sounds like. That would be an error, a software error, or it could also be an error by the Board of Elections. It could be an error because think of this. What if I lied, What if I checked the box that said yes, I am a citizen? Then what then I'm registered to vote? That's how that happens. Right, How many people's and that's what I suspect the Department of Homeland Security is talking about thirty five thousand plus that are illegal aliens that are registered to vote because they either mistakenly said yes or they lied and said yes. Either way, they checked yes on the application to get a driver's license and they are here illegally. You see the problem here, I would say, is actually the first step in this process, which is that you have illegal aliens that are getting driver's licenses. That's the problem. They should never even be able to fill out the form and either make a miss stake or lie and then have that form transmitted to the Board of Elections, which is why part of the Save America Act includes a verification process for citizenship, so you cannot whether you're at a DMV or at the Board of Elections itself. You cannot register to vote without showing proof of citizenship. That's part of the Save America Act, that requirement. And Democrats have been fighting this, and even some Republicans they've been fighting this. Why are you fighting this? Do you think non citizens should be able to vote? Now, they will say Democrats will say no. But then you look at some of the jurisdictions around America and that's exactly what they have done. Blue cities, right counties, they have allowed they are allowing illegal aliens to vote in local elections. They can't do it in the federal elections, that's against the law. But they can register people to vote and oopsie, you voted because you're allowed to vote maybe in the city races. So we're going to register you to vote. But now, don't you try to register for the or don't you try to vote in the national elections? And then oopsie, they vote in the national elections and they have driver's licenses. This is the vulnerability that election integrity advocates have been talking about for twenty five years. That's how long. This is longer, actually thirty years since the motor voter law So what did the vendor say in response to this? I will tell you in a moment Governor of New Jersey, the woman named Mikey Cheryl, she's blaming a software company. She said, it's unacceptable that the vendor released software with such a glaring error. This is unacceptable. We're not taking it lightly, look at me fully transparent. All of this was done under the previous administration. They really fell down on the job. They're terrible. By the way, the previous administration also democrat The vendor then put out a statement, the vendor's name is id E M i A edemia, which I still think sounds like some sort of a blood disorder, or maybe it's idemia or I yeah, id M I A, which would actually be right. I mean, like that's a little on the nose there, you know, like dickenzie and names and all IDMEA. Anyway, they are being phased out, so this vendor is not being renewed for the contract. They're getting some other vendor in there. Now, maybe that freed them up to say this thing, to offer this response, but they said, quote, our role is to transmit information through the motor vehicle system. The voter registration information is transmitted to the New Jersey Department of State Division of Elections, which is ultimately responsible for verifying eligibility to vote. Right, So we are the pass through that's what they're saying. So even if this error was simply to pass along every single application, whether they said yes or no about citizenship right, whether that was an oversight, a mistake, intentional, don't know. But what they're saying is like, guys, we're just forwarding this stuff over to you. You're the Board of Elections. You're the ones that are supposed to be verifying eligibility. And what it sounds like the elections people were doing was just rubber stamping every single application that came through. And if you registered and you said yes, I'm a citizen, you approved. And if you registered and said no, I'm not a citizen, you're also approved. That's what it sounds like to me Ed Morrissey. Again, he says Democrats and media paint this illegal voting issue as a conservative fever dream, right, They gaslight us on this stuff. We're constantly told that voter fraud and non citizen voting are rare to the point of non existence. The necessities of voter id checks at the ballot box and demonstration of citizenship at registration. These are all completely unnecessary. They say, we don't need to see your ID, that's disenfranchising. We don't need to check to make sure you are a citizen when you register to vote. Nobody would do that. No, nobody whose very first act in America was to break a law. They would not break a voting law. For people who talk about the sanctity of the vote, they sure don't treat it like that, right, They sure don't protect it as if there is some sanctity to it. Now, who could have possibly seen this kind of vulnerability. I mean, besides, like everybody who opposed the Motor Voter Act that Bill Clinton pushed in the nineties. Right aside from all of those people, basically like half the country, the Republicans and stuff, well, every automatic registration scheme that has since come down the pike, right, every one of these automatic registration ideas, they all share this same vulnerability, which is why election integrity advocates oppose them. This is the only he says, this is only catching those who answered on the form. No, that's all we've caught that six six hundred, They said, those were people who were registered to vote but said no, I'm not a citizen. It doesn't catch anyone who says yes. Imagine how many people who have lied on that form said yes, I'm a citizen when they were not. How many of those are on your voter rules. These motor voter systems have no checks on these processes to catch people who fraudulently register to vote. They're designed to exclude citizenship verification, which is why the Save America Act has that provision, because integrity activists know that this is a vulnerability in the system. Right, she says, we have no evidence at this time that any elections were swayed. Okay, there's no evidence that elections were not swayed either, because he says, the current systems are set up to prevent evidence of fraud from emerging at all. Right, this is just a voter role issue, right, That's all this is. This is a simple comparison of voter roles in New Jersey with citizenship. Like that's how they that's how Department of Homeland Security identified this cohort. That's it. And DHS says it's like thirty five thousand total, And I guess the difference there is the people who lied on those forms and said yes, because they're showing up in Homeland security databases as illegal aliens, but they're on your voter rules. So I'm guessing you got about what twenty nine thousand people who lied and said yes, I am a citizen when they in fact were not. That's the problem, aside from the fact that they're getting drivers' licenses. Gosh, like it almost makes you wonder, you know, is this the reason why you have like twenty Democrat controlled states that have been fighting the federal government over the access to their voter rules. They, like these Democrat states have been refusing to turn over or to share the voter roles with the federal government and the ICE database. Do you think this might be why all of this new Jersey election integrity story ties back to obviously the Save America Act. It's the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility America Act, Save America Act. Anyway. This Act, if it were to be adopted, would amend the nineteen ninety three National Voter Registration Act the MVRA to require documentary proof of citizenship in order to register to vote, as well as a voter ID to cast a ballot. The original law, the MVRA, requires automatic voter registration at DMVs and prohibit states from adding documentary proof of citizenship requirements for federal voter registration forms. Right, so this was intentional, Okay. It was like, we're going to set these things up at the DMVs. You can register, and states you're not allowed to check on citizenship. This is by design, okay. By amending this law with the Save America Act, states like New Jersey would not need to worry about non citizens mistakenly ending up on voter rolls or even voting, you know, no software errors and all of that, because they would not be able to register to vote unless they would provide actual proof of citizenship rather than just checking a box under penalty of perjury, which nobody has ever charged with. But they're still holding this up. In fact, yesterday the House of Representatives passed several measures, one of which was their their budget reconciliation measures like ninety something billion dollars, and they also did the Defense Authorization Act. It's you know, all of this stuff now heads to the Senate. But the Senate leader, John Thune, he's like, I don't know if we're going to be able to get fifty votes. I don't know if reconciliations going to be allowable and get this. One of the points of opposition is the Save America Act. They don't want this thing tacked on. And who is they? Well, one of the they is Thom Tillis from North Carolina Senate Republicans. This according to Politico, Senate Republicans don't believe they'll be able to get parts of Trump's priority elections legislation into the bill, the funding bill, amid pushback from some of their own members. That's assuming the provisions would adhere to the Chambers strict rules for what can be included under the reconciliation process. I already talked about this in the past. This is one avenue. This is like, there's the whole filibuster thing, and do we, you know, nuke the filibuster, make the make the Democrats actually do a talking filibuster. Right, There's that whole debate, that whole argument. But that's that's one path to getting the Save America Act passed is the filibuster. How to overcome the filibuster. One of the other paths to overcome the filibuster is do it via reconciliation, and then you only need a simple majority, and you could actually have JD. Vance come down and cast a deciding vote if it came to a fifty to fifty split. Right, But you've got, now what I think there's a I think there's a four seat majority for the Republicans. And you've got you know, Susan Collins, you know the usual suspects, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell's not there because you know he's out on medical leave. And then Tom Tillis, And here's what he said. He warned last week that he would quote use every device I have available to slow down the wheels of government if a reconciliation bill comes over from the House with components of the Save America Act included. Quote do the math. He said. So this guy is fighting against requiring proof of citizenship. Like, look, I've been covering North Carolina politics for quite a while. I remember when Tom Tillis was leading the charge to take over the House of Representatives in the North Carolina legislature. I had him on the program during that campaign, and he laid out the plan, like here's what he was doing. He did a lot of work to get the Republicans the majority in the House, and he became a Speaker of the House, and all of the criticism against him, I don't feel I'm not saying none of it. I'm saying not all of it. I feel like is justified. However, however, that being said this to me, like this is inexplicable to me. I do not understand, Like this is your line in the sand, Like I understand Trump hurt your feelings, you're mad at Trump and you don't like Trump, and you're never Trump, or I get all of that. I do. I don't agree with it. I don't agree with all of the things he has said. But like I can understand that argument that you don't want to do things because you know Trump wants it, you don't want to do something because you know it empowers the executive branch or whatever, Like those things have some I don't know, rational basis. This Like this is where like I'm such a stickler for the rules, Like if anything from SAVE comes over as part of the Reconciliation Bill, I'm gonna know why. Like you don't even know if the parliamentarian is going to allow it to be attached as part of a reconciliation bill, So why don't you just wait for that ruling first? Why this you know line in the sand. I'm gonna stand up against the Save America Act. I oppose photo ID, but he didn't. That's the thing. When he was in charge of North Carolina, like they started pushing for a voter, I d like, why would you not? Well, if you think of it in these terms, And I've asked this question before, why is Tom Tillis on the House or the Senate Judiciary Committee. He's not a lawyer. Why is he there? I would submit at this point and I don't know this, but looking from the outside in, it kind of seems like he's there to thwart Trump's agenda. And when you look at the way the Judiciary Committee has been behaving by not, you know, giving Trump's nominees confirmation hearings and stuff, blocking judicial appointments. You see the way John Thune is behaving on this stuff, and it seems like, I don't know, but it seems like they're trying to run out the clock until Trump is a lame duck after the midterms. That's what it seems like. To make sure that Republicans lose to not deliver for Republican voters, So then Republicans are punished. They either go into the minority or either or they have a very slim majority, and then Trump becomes a lame duck. And you know, Tillis exits stage left, and now Trump can't get anything done for the remainder of his two terms and is going to be battling impeachment that like that, that's what it seems like to me. In which case, then like, why are you a Republican? Why are you on this team? And I say that as an unaffiliated like I made that choice not to be on either of the teams. I did not run for office. I did not go to DC. You know, I did not do all of these things that Tillis did to play for this team and now to like kneecap them from behind. Like that's it. Just I've not seen a good explanation for this, and maybe there is one, I just haven't seen it. All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
