Original Sin hits the shelves... and it's very bad for a lot of people (05-21-2025--Hour2)

This episode is presented by Create A Video – Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson appeared on the Megyn Kelly show yesterday to give details from their new book about the coverup of Joe Biden's cognitive decline (called Original Sin). But Tapper also got grilled by Kelly for his non-existent coverage of what was obvious to all Americans for years. That's the book, Original Sin, President Biden's decline, its cover up, and his disastrous choice to run again. This is the book that is now out on the bookshelves and available by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson. Full disclosure, I have not read the book. Further disclosure, I do not intend to read the book, let alone buy it. Okay, However, I allowed somebody else to do it for me, that being Megan Kelly, host of The Megan Kelly Show on YouTube. And I think she's on Serious XM now and she had I was looking forward to this. She had Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson on her show yesterday for an hour and a half. I watched it, so you don't have to. I've got the highlights. One of the things that I was not aware of as to like, why did they call the book original sin? And Tapper said that this was a comment that somebody made to him at some point. It may have been I forget when, like during the campaign or after the election or something, and some Democrat told him that the original sin was that Biden should not have run for reelection. That was the original sin that he that he said he was going to run for re election, and that's what necessitated the cover up. Even the title of the book is a cover up. There is a writer. I believe she's at the Free Press now. She used to be at Newsweek. Her name is Batya Saya Sungar Argon or something like that. I should have written it down. I've seen her. You've seen her too, I'm sure making the rounds on you know, various shows and podcasts and the like. But I think she is exactly right. She also joined the Megan Kelly Show yesterday and she made it a I think a very astute observation, which was that what the Tapper book is doing, what Tappa and Thompson are doing in this book is reputation laundering. That's what's going on. Right. The Democratic Party has an incentive to now blame Joe Biden and Joe Biden sorry, doctor Jill, you call her doctor Jill. To blame the Bidens, blame the people around him, because they're done. They are done, right, just they will. Nobody's going to trust them in positions of power again, right, like they they're they're they're torched. So you make them the fall guy and the meat. So that's the Democrat Party leadership, right. They want all of this blame to go just on the Bidens. We were deceived. We couldn't tell that he was slurring his words and having you know, long pauses and reading stage cues as if they were scripted, you know, comments like like we're supposed to believe they didn't see what more than half the country saw. Right, they were lied to, they were duped. They couldn't figure it out. That's that's their incentive. What's the media incentive. The media's incentive right now is to also blame the Bidens because they didn't. It's not our fault that we were deceived. We were lied to. We tried to get the story. Here's the thing you don't need people on the record, like you don't need people. You don't even need anonymous sourcing. All you need to do is watch the videos over the last four or five years. That's it. You are as a reporter just as qualified as anybody else to identify the behavior that you yourself are seeing. In fact, that's your job. Is literally part of your job is to go see the car crash, see the house fire, right, see the rescue, and report on what's occurring. You do it all the time. You could have done that with Joe Biden, just like I did with Joe Biden for the last five years. Play the SoundBite, watch the video and say this is what's happening. Something is not going on, something good is not going on here. If you want to go and ask the White House, hey, is he lost a step and they're like, he's fine, and he's doing jumping Jack's you know, while standing on his head, but fine, get their statement and put it in there too. However, however, you don't just stop that story after that one glitch on stage or the one mess up or something right. You create the body of evidence over time. That's also part of the job as a journalist. As a reporter. So this idea that the original sin was that he ran for reelection. He decided to run for reelection. That actually is not the original sin. The original sin was his first run because that's when the evidence was presenting itself and people around him knew it. And in this book they detail. Let me see here, I have a whole bunch of notes there was to do. Mike Donalan, who was named as one of the what Alex Thompson dubs the polyp Bureau. He was one of the advisors right to Joe Biden. He was on the campaign trail with Biden. This would have been in twenty nineteen, and they're on a bus tour, so it's pre COVID. They're on a bus tour and Biden cannot remember Donalan's name repeatedly. Donalin has worked with Joe Biden for like thirty years, and Biden kept blanking on his name. The original sin was not the decision to run for re election. But that's what Democrats and Tap and Thompson are advancing. This is what they want us to believe that Joe Biden was. You know, he was fine enough, he was fine during you know, he's just old in the twenty twenty race. But we know that it's not true. And what's his face? One of the Castro brothers, the Twins right, was running for president in the twenty twenty primary, and he made the comment on the debate stage in the primary about Joe forgetting what he's talking about and not having a good memory. He said it on the stage, and what happened to him? Nobody knows, right, that guy hasn't been in Democrat politics since. So I'm not buying your your cover story. I'm not buying the reputation laundering. However, it is important to hear the details that Thompson and Tapper have brought fully. Why well, it first off confirms the things that we've been saying, right, but we also need to know what they are willing to admit to at this time because some people still are not Some people still refuse to admit what we all could see, except maybe for Biden's bag dad, Bob Andrew Bates. This guy, he's a North Carolina political operative. Guy worked for the Biden White House in their press shop. And here's a excerpt from the book. Some of Bates's colleagues believe that Biden's inner circle took advantage of his loyalty and told him to deny things they knew were true. He, along with most of the press team, rarely met with the president and did not have firsthand knowledge of the president's wherewithal. They relied on senior staff for answers. Still risking his own credibility, Bates willingly became the White House's tip of the spear when it came to fighting off any reporting on Biden's acuity. The spokesman for the North Carolina GOP, Matt Mercer, says, so Andrew Bates wasn't important enough to be in on the Biden crime family conspiracy and became the senior staff's useful idiot. It's quite amazing, all right. If you're listening to this show, you know I try to keep up with all sorts of current events, and I know you do too, And you've probably heard me say get your news from multiple sources. Hello, Matthew, welcome to the program. Well, I appreciate that. I was just wanting to find out what the relevance was. Continues to be talking about Joe Biden. He's not the president anymore. What's the relevant so the relevance? You got to take me off speakerphone or turn your radio down there, Matthew. Wow, that didn't end the way I thought it was going to end. But okay, goodbye, Matthew. So I'm sure that was a good faith question that Matthew wanted answered. So I shall accommodate. You know me, I am a giver. So the relevance is multifaceted. Number One, Jake Tapper and Dlex Thompson wrote a book and that book hit the shelves today. So that's number one. So that would be three quarters of the word news, and it's new. New makes up most of the word news, and so that's new. And so you got the book that's out and it has new details about what we all just lived through for the last five years. So Number one, that's why it's relevant from a news perspective. Number Two, it happens to be the biggest political scandal probably in American history, if not one of them. That also makes it newsworthy and quite relevant, particularly again because we just lived through it for the last five years and we're only like four months five months removed from the end of this scandalous period. Number Three, that the scandal is that the there was a cover up in order to hide Joe Biden, the President's mental infirmity. Right, that's a huge scandal. Somebody is not mentally fit to hold the office that they are elected to, and they lied about it for years and we don't even know all of the people involved in the light, so we're still in a fact finding mode. Also, who was making the decisions at the times when the president could not. That's also a pretty big part of the scandal, because the president signed a bunch of bills into law, and he wrote executive or signed executive orders. If he wasn't signing him who was using the auto pen to sign in his hand? Who was using that device in order to sign all of these things? Pardons, for example, were people were people outside of the you know, presidency advisors, were they signing off on pardons and clemency and stuff? But also relevance. This is called holding people accountable. That's what this is. And I know for people like Matthew he probably likes Joe Biden or he's a Democrat and whatever, and he didn't stick around. I was going to ask him if he noticed any of the mental decline that Joe Biden was suffering over the last five years. I'm curious to know if he witnessed it and what did he think about media and Democrats. But I repeat myself trying to savage anybody that pointed it out. See here's the thing. When people like me were pointing these things out throughout the last five years, people like Matthew would argue that I was being mean, I was misconstruing things, cheap, fake videos, like all of the all of the attacks that I was subjected to, other conservative media people have been subjected to. Republican legislators were subjected to because they were noticing what we all were noticing, and then they would speak it. We would speak about it, and then we would be attacked. See this is a psychological operation. This is gaslighting. And now now that Joe Biden has no power, now that Joe Biden's value is zero to Democrats and media, now the truth can be told. Now you're going to come in and you're going to pretend that you just missed all of this for the last five years while savaging people that were not missing it, that were correct, We were telling the truth. Now you come in and say, Okay, that stuff was true. But now Matthew just wants to move on, and that's not how accountability works. In fact, you should apologize, Matthew. You should apologize. You should apologize to anybody that you tried to silence when they were pointing out these truths. Will you No, probably not, But that is the honorable thing to do when you have messed up, when you have called other people liars, you've impugned their motives, you've called them names, and then it turns out that they were actually correct and you were not. That's the charitable explanation. Less than charitable is that you were involved in the cover up. And so no, when you do those things and you try to silence those voices and they turn out to be correct, you don't then get to say, let's move on as soon as the reckoning starts. That's what's happening right now. This is a reckoning, and I am not done until I burn it all down. Media, the people in it, the Democrats who knew, because we're starting to get names now, all of them, all of them need to pay a political price for this because what they perpetrated was a massive syop gas lighting on the American public. And they did it why, Some did it for their own power preservation that were around the president, because they were enjoying the trappings of the elite lifestyle, right, they had access to power that they otherwise could never achieve because they couldn't win the election. Maybe people were enriching themselves. I don't know, right, this is the reckoning, Matthew. You don't get to say, oh, let's move on now. That's not really relevant anymore because he's not the president. Dude, He's only been out of office for four months. This is an ancient history. I'm not litigating Watergate here. The book is out today and we're learning more information two dates, Like, for example, did you know that they apparently filmed a ninety minute fake town hall in the spring of twenty twenty four before the debate. They did a ninety minute fake town hall. They brought in Democrat operatives to act as the audience. They recorded a fake town hall, and then they couldn't use any of the video. Biden was so bad they scrapped all of it. Now, you're telling me that people didn't know that you packed a town hall with people. Everybody in that room knew something was wrong. It was so unusable they had to scrap it. So yeah, sorry, the reckoning is hurting you, hurting your feelings or something. Maybe go ask the council for a payoff. I don't know, but you're not going to get any quarter here. Here's a great idea. How about making an escape to a really special and secluded getaway in western North Carolina. Let me get to Travis first. Hello Travis, thanks for hanging. On, mister Peg. I'm good. What's up. I'm listening to this idea that Matthew had of just moving on putting in the past. The problem is that this is a past it's interest because whoever was setting policy under the Biden administration will almost certainly be in the next Democratic administration, and we don't know who they are. We don't no, But for example, what was the process in the White House on the executive side of writing the inflation reduction at right? What was the process in signing the executive orders regarding school school dad education dead Well, we those people are still out there. They've never been subjected to serious questioning because they got to do everything in the shadows. So this isn't past its future. I agree. No, you know, the Matthew's question was not a good faith question. It was an attempt to, uh get me to stop talking about a subject that damages his preferred political party. That's I need to take notes on that because I'd like to be able to stop conversation. There you go, Travis, I appreciate the call man. Thank you. Oh that's good. That's a great point. All right. So let me get to some audio. Here is Jake Tapper on how he dialed back his coverage of what he says both Trump and Biden in the days or weeks leading up to the debate, that infamous debate in June of twenty twenty four. Yeah, twenty twenty four. Why, I'm oh, my gosh, my Joe Biden. No, this is why. So listen to this. This is not he does not equit himself well on this, but this is his answer. I will acknowledge that after I was named moderator co moderator of the debate, I tried to make sure that my coverage was fairly vanilla, both about Trump and about Biden, because I just wanted to get to the debate, and you know, the Biden people and the Trump people, I'm kind of frankly surprised that either one of them agreed to have me as a moderator because both sides disliked me so much. But yeah, I remember that that moment, and I remember that moment the glitch at the immigration event and not getting much attention outside of conservative media at all. And Alex and I are here to say that conservative media was right, and conservative media was correct, and that there should be a lot of soul searching, not just among me, but among the legacy media to begin with all of us for how this was covered or not covered sufficiently. So I mean, I'm not here to defend coverage that I've already acknowledged. I wish I could do differently. Let me bring Alex in. Thank you for your patience Alex, and apologies for the I think. He's fine. Based on what just happened. But Jake and I are actually friends, and this is all said in look the context of I know my audience wants to hear asked, and Jake has told me before he wanted the opportunity to answer these questions. So, Megan, we didn't come on the show thinking that this was going to be a softball interview. I understand, like, listen, listen. As a first of all, nobody flagellates Jake Tapper more than Jake Tapper. Okay, Like I get it. I understand I am fallible. I make mistakes. It's not just the Biden coverage. I mean, I go back and I look at like I wish I had been covering terrorism more before nine to eleven. I wish that I had covered the WMD with more skepticism. And there's you know, a million things, this is definitely among them. And conservative media absolutely has every right to say we were hip to this and the legacy media was not. Now, I do not accept that I was part of a cover up. I do not accept that I was just providing cover for Joe Biden. I think a lot of these clips are not fair. The one that is fair is the Laura Trump clip, and I own it right. We've played the Laura clip, Laura Trump clip on this show multiple times over the years where he attacked her when she pointed out in the twenty twenty campaign that Joe Biden was obviously having some cognitive issues, and he lit into her and said, you're not qualified to make this kind of a diagnosis, so I'm sure you're making it. You wish the best for Joe and all of this, It says stutter. That's what he said. Oh you're what do you think kids would stutters must think having you know, listened to you make fun of his stutter, She's like, it's not a stutter. I don't even know he had a stutter till you just said it. Yeah, this is the gas lighting, right. And to Tapper's point, and to Matthew's totally good faith question, he Tapper says, the Legacy meet it needs to engage in some soul searching on why everybody missed it. That's a process that is right now. That's why this is relevant. The people that occupy these positions that are supposed to be informing the public about what is and isn't happening. The ones that are supposed to be skeptical of people in power holding them accountable, that they completely and utterly failed at best and at worst, we're part of the cover up. That's why we're talking about it. As I have said repeatedly, I believe this is the biggest political scandal in our nation's history. You can disagree, and you can turn on another show where they will tell you that Joe Biden is still doing jumping Jackson running laps around his twenty two year old staffers because he's just so young and sprying with it. You can go find those outlets. I'm sure they exist. They will tell you what you want to hear. All right. So the spring is here, a time of renewal and celebrations. All right, So Tapper is asked by Megan Kelly about how the book is being received or not. I guess do you care what the ladies of the View say, because that's kind of in your not your personally, but it's in the left wing ecosphere and they are having a very negative reaction. I'm sorry to tell you to original sin. They don't like your book. Guys. They don't appreciate that it's being published now. And I wonder have they read it? Have they had you on? Have they invited you to come on to discuss it? They have? They have not? They have they have. We have gone to them any number of times and said we would love to come on the show to discuss They obviously were where President and First Lady Biden went for their prebuttle of the book, and we thought it would be it would only. Be fair to have us on. But the View, and for that matter, Fox News seems to enjoy using our scoops talking about every thing we learned in the months of investigative journalism and what we're revealing in this book, but they're declining to have us on to discuss it, which is regrettable because I think this is an important thing for people to come to terms with when it comes to the view or to explore in terms of the depth of what we Alex and I have been able to find out. In terms of Fox News, I will say that there is clearly a contingent of people on the left who want to bury their head in the sand on this issue and pretend it didn't happen, and pretend that it's not part of the reason why Donald Trump and the Republicans controlled the White House, in the House, in the Senate, and why Democratic poll numbers are in the toilet. I think that is part of why Democrats are where they are. This gas lighting all right. David Axelrod, Obama's guy, said that we should set aside the discussion of the allegations in the book because of Biden's cancer diagnosis. Kelly asked, do you agree with that? Well, if I didn't, I don't think i'd be here. I mean, I think what happened. The country here, you do? I think we need to be discussing this. I think obviously we have sympathy for President Biden, both in terms of the prostate cancer and in terms of whatever other health issue he is grappling with. And we talked to many neurologists who spent you talk about how you are on a text chain with your producers. The night of the debate, we talked to one of the top neurologists in the world, who you know, has is on a text chain with a number of other top neurologists, and they spent much of twenty twenty four trying to figure out what was wrong with Joe Biden, whether it's louis body dementia or Parkinson's or something parkinsonian. And they don't know then they're not qualified to say from a distance. But it's a. Serious question and the larger issue of transparency and group think questions for the Democratic Party and the public and the news media. These are all really important conversations to have. I don't think that our story, I don't think that our book is mean. I think it is just accurate and clear eyed. And I think this is a conversation the country needs to have, not just about President Biden, but about all presidents. It's like I tell my kids, it is not mean to say something that is true but not necessarily complimentary. I mean, it's not if it's true and you are not saying it with the intention to hurt somebody, it's not quote mean. They're not going to get away with that. Sorry, Alex, you wanted a weigh in, go ahead. I actually just wanted to say one more thing about the media coverage and this question, which is, you know, when Jake came to me with this idea. You know, on every beat, there are some suck ups, there's some people that are lazy. But I never felt that Jake, even if he fell short on the age issue, I never felt he carried the water for the Biden people. And I hope your listeners who may be skeptical of Jake at least like give the book a chance. Give the book a chance. And then Tapper explains the value of the book while accepting the criticism that he missed the real story in real time. People were shocked on June twenty seven, twenty twenty four, because there was, to a degree a cover up of how bad his decline had been. So even if and if, even though many folks including you, were covering this. It still was shocking what people saw on June twenty seven. And the only other point I'll say is I'm not disagreeing with the fact that conservatives were right on this and that people in the legacy media, including myself, should have been paying closer attention and more attention. I'm granting all of that. But the reason why I think there is interest in this book is because people want to know more beyond what they saw in front of the camera. They want to know how this happened, and I think I think that is what we provide through this deeply sourced, unflinching account of what really went on behind the scenes. Right, And I agree with him on this. This has to occur, and there has to be space for Democrats to come to terms with this. And yes, people held accountable for whatever roles they played in advancing the cover up. All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
