[00:00:28] In this live continuing coverage of the apocalypse, 704-570-1110. Now we don't know, like we're keeping you posted in all sincerity and seriousness. We are keeping you posted on the weather, but we're having fun while we do it.

[00:00:48] I have been doing this kind of coverage for many, many, many years. I have gone out to stand on the side of the road to tell you not to drive on the roads. I have gone out and braved the elements to tell you, do not brave the elements. I have been essential personnel. And so I feel comfortable dictating the terms of a little operation that I like to call Snow Man on the Street.

[00:01:17] Wherein I deputize everybody in the audience to call in with their news reports. There are a couple of rules. The first rule, I'm going to ask you when I throw it to you, I'm going to give your name and your location, like your town or your city, whatever.

[00:01:37] Or if you've got like a cross street area you want to say, that's fine. Tell Steve the call screener and you're going to say your name and where you are. And then I'm going to throw it to you.

[00:01:47] And I'm going to say, Joe, in Charlotte, what's the mood? That's the question. I throw it out and that's how you start your report. What's the mood? Because that is, of course, the question that true journalismers use when they don't know what other question to ask.

[00:02:07] You see it all the time. When they're doing this scene setters, reporters will do a scene setter like so, you know, standing in front of this building where something is going to happen in another two hours.

[00:02:22] And then the anchor will ask some silly question like, what's the mood? What's the mood? What's the mood? In the sports world, they have a, it's not the same, but they have a similar type of a crutch where they just say, talk about, which isn't really a question.

[00:02:35] It's a demand, but talk about whatever. Talk about this. Talk about that. And then the coach just talks in sports ball coach talk. And then that's the end of the clip.

[00:02:44] And it has just been a complete waste of time, which is really the point. Okay. Because I don't need, like, I can actually look, hang on a second. Let me look out the window.

[00:02:54] All right. I have no precipitation outside the window here in West Charlotte. Nothing. The mood is disappointment.

[00:03:04] Okay. So that's the first thing that you do. Answer the question as I toss it to you. What's the mood?

[00:03:09] And then when you're done with your report, when you've, you've told us all of the interesting facts and data, you've really transported us all to your location.

[00:03:21] So we, you've painted the picture. It's like, we're right there with you. Remember, you have to throw it back to me. You got to say back to you, Pete, because if you don't say back to me, Pete, then I'm not going to know to start talking because I'm going to let you do your report.

[00:03:36] Okay. Those are the rules. You can talk about the road conditions and the precipitation, people's behavior, whatever you want. It's two rules though. What's the mood? And then back to you, Pete.

[00:03:47] Now, if I ask you a follow-up question, just a heads up, you have to start your answer with great question, Pete. Okay. And no, you're not being paid for any of this work.

[00:04:01] Operation Snowman on the Street is strictly voluntary internships.

[00:04:07] So, we now go out to Phil in Belmont for this update. Phil, what's the mood?

[00:04:17] Hi, Pete. The mood is very, very great today. We're out here on I-85 southbound and the snow is starting about exit 27, which is Belmont.

[00:04:29] We are now down to exit 14 on the south side of Gastonia. The road is getting wet at about exit 17, Highway 321.

[00:04:41] But it's very small snow flakes coming down and the road is getting wet and we may have to turn on the windshield wipers next week sometime.

[00:04:54] Oh my gosh.

[00:04:55] It's coming down so hard.

[00:04:56] Have you ever seen the road wet before like this?

[00:05:03] Yes, sir. When it rains, it usually does get wet over here in Gaston County, but not always.

[00:05:10] But the snow is still dry and it's blowing around on the roads.

[00:05:16] And that's our report here from Gastonia now. Back to you, Pete.

[00:05:22] All right. Thank you, Phil. Compelling and rich.

[00:05:25] From Phil in Gastonia, we now go over to Stanley County and we have this update from Bill in Stanley County.

[00:05:33] Bill, what's the mood?

[00:05:36] Excellent question, Pete.

[00:05:38] The mood here in Stanley County is dry.

[00:05:42] Dry with the rural roads have not been treated with salt brine for the 10, maybe 20 people that live in this rural area of the listening area.

[00:05:57] The ABC store is open and doing a brisk business.

[00:06:03] But other than that, there is little to no traffic on the roads.

[00:06:08] Back to you, Pete.

[00:06:10] Bill, that is fantastic information.

[00:06:12] Thank you, Bill.

[00:06:13] We appreciate that update.

[00:06:16] Hang on a second.

[00:06:18] I need to go over here first.

[00:06:20] Okay.

[00:06:26] I don't have a location for this individual, but in a communique from my producer,

[00:06:33] I'm under the impression that this is our own colleague, Bo Thompson.

[00:06:36] Bo Thompson, what's the mood?

[00:06:39] Cautious optimism.

[00:06:41] Hmm.

[00:06:45] I am right next to Calvary Church, Pete.

[00:06:48] And I just want to add one question to your list of go-to classic questions.

[00:06:54] And that would be, what was going through your head when you saw the snow?

[00:06:59] What were you thinking when you first saw the precipitation?

[00:07:04] I'm thinking, I think I've seen this before, but maybe not.

[00:07:08] That's right.

[00:07:09] But maybe not.

[00:07:10] So, Bo, you're outside Presbyterian Church?

[00:07:15] Outside?

[00:07:16] Well, I'm not at Calvary.

[00:07:18] I'm at the stoplight in front of Calvary doing something else.

[00:07:20] Oh, okay.

[00:07:20] But down here, you know, Pineville Matthews Road, and I'm here to tell you there's a whole lot of nothing right now.

[00:07:25] I thought for a minute there you had me confused because I thought, are you doing your remote broadcast today?

[00:07:33] I was like, do I need to be promoting the fact that you're standing someplace?

[00:07:39] No, but if I keep talking, then they ask me to, so I better go.

[00:07:43] That's right.

[00:07:44] All right, so have you seen any precipitation sticking to the ground yet?

[00:07:52] No, nothing sticking to the ground, but I can confirm a few specks.

[00:07:56] A few specks on my windshield.

[00:07:59] And?

[00:08:01] And I'm trying to come up with a clever thing to say that was going through my head when I saw the specks, but...

[00:08:06] No, no, no.

[00:08:07] Really, it's just...

[00:08:08] You gotta lock it out.

[00:08:10] Oh, Bo Thompson live in Pineville Matthews.

[00:08:15] There you go.

[00:08:15] That's Bo Thompson.

[00:08:16] Thank you, Bo Thompson, for the compelling and rich report.

[00:08:21] We now head over to Charlotte, where Spencer is located.

[00:08:26] Spencer and Charlotte, what's the mood?

[00:08:28] The mood is good, Pete.

[00:08:30] This is Spencer Rackley reporting to you live from the backyard of the astronaut,

[00:08:35] where he's rolling all of his telescopes back into the garage to protect them from the flurries,

[00:08:40] the light flurries that are beginning to fall.

[00:08:43] Everything seems to be safe here near Park Road Shopping Center.

[00:08:47] As I said, the mood is good.

[00:08:49] Back to you, Pete.

[00:08:52] Gosh, I mean, that sounds like a very dicey situation there, Spencer.

[00:08:55] Is it?

[00:08:58] Great question, Pete.

[00:09:01] It's not too dicey yet.

[00:09:03] It's just beginning to flurry.

[00:09:06] You can't be too safe, though, with that equipment.

[00:09:08] Spencer, we appreciate the call.

[00:09:10] Stay safe out there, Spencer.

[00:09:11] You know, don't take any chances unnecessarily there.

[00:09:14] Gosh.

[00:09:15] Harrowing experience, Spencer just relayed.

[00:09:17] I felt like I was right there.

[00:09:19] Compelling and rich, indeed.

[00:09:20] Here's a great idea.

[00:10:37] You can also send your reports on Twitter at Pete Calender.

[00:10:41] I will try to get to them all.

[00:10:43] In this January 10, 2025 edition of Operation Snowman on the Street,

[00:10:53] or Snowperson on the Street, whatever,

[00:10:56] where we have deputized all of the listeners to report in,

[00:10:59] I will toss it to you with the question of what's the mood?

[00:11:02] You will then give your report, and then you shall lock it out with Back to You, Pete.

[00:11:09] These are vitally important elements of the tale.

[00:11:14] 7-0-4-5, 7-0-11-10.

[00:11:17] I do have some communiques that have come across the transom.

[00:11:22] This from Jeff.

[00:11:25] Coming to you from Belmont for a weather update.

[00:11:28] The mood here is in abundance of caution for the safety of our citizens.

[00:11:31] We continue to assess the science and the data to determine if it is snow.

[00:11:35] Recommend that everyone quarantine at home and stay away from hot spots.

[00:11:40] Back to you.

[00:11:42] Compelling and rich.

[00:11:47] Grant, South Gastonia joins us now.

[00:11:50] Grant, South Gastonia.

[00:11:52] What's the mood, Grant?

[00:11:54] Hey, Pete.

[00:11:55] That's a great question.

[00:11:55] The mood here is definitely exciting.

[00:11:59] People are just blown away.

[00:12:02] We actually are having accumulation of snow on the ground.

[00:12:08] It is just amazing.

[00:12:10] In fact, we also have called on Mother Nature for some additional information

[00:12:15] as a flock of non-seagulls have been seen flocking together looking for food

[00:12:22] in preparation for the upcoming storm.

[00:12:28] And back to you, Pete.

[00:12:29] Compelling and rich.

[00:12:31] Thank you, Grant.

[00:12:32] That is a fantastic report from South Gastonia.

[00:12:37] Let's head on over now.

[00:12:38] Out of Davidson, this is Robert.

[00:12:41] Robert in Davidson.

[00:12:42] What's the mood?

[00:12:45] Good afternoon, Pete.

[00:12:46] The mood here in Davidson, I would describe it as a combination of apprehensive and also joyful.

[00:12:54] As you know, Pete, we're in northern Mecklenburg County,

[00:12:57] and Davidson is an idyllic, liberal sanctuary.

[00:13:02] And I've seen a couple of people wearing...

[00:13:05] I can tell that they're apprehensive because they're not used to seeing snow,

[00:13:08] but they're wearing these red sweaters.

[00:13:11] And on the sweaters, I've seen a couple of these that says,

[00:13:15] he is now a felon.

[00:13:18] And they seem joyful with that.

[00:13:20] So we're seeing a few flakes and a few snowflakes here, Pete.

[00:13:28] And back to you.

[00:13:29] Now, that's compelling and rich.

[00:13:32] Thank you, Robert.

[00:13:33] It's not something you would automatically associate with the snow.

[00:13:39] That's, you know, to people walk around with the sweaters about felons.

[00:13:44] That's odd.

[00:13:46] But people begin to do odd things during catastrophes.

[00:13:50] So we have a message from Bob in Myers Park who says,

[00:13:56] The mood in Myers Park is cloudy with cautious indifference towards nature's spitballs.

[00:14:03] Back to you, Pete.

[00:14:05] Another message from Jay reporting from South Charlotte.

[00:14:09] On the poor side of the creek of number 12 at Quail Hollow Club,

[00:14:13] it is spitting sleet at the rate of maybe .001 inch per hour.

[00:14:20] Oh, the humanity.

[00:14:24] Back to you, Pete.

[00:14:25] Okay, thank you, Jay.

[00:14:30] Joe and Hunter Biden now reporting in from Belmont.

[00:14:34] Joe and Hunter Biden, what's the mood?

[00:14:38] Yeah, Pete, this is the soon-to-be former president, Joe Biden.

[00:14:46] I just wanted to let you know here in the – come on, man.

[00:14:51] In the Belmont, it's a little bit of white flurry there on the ground.

[00:14:57] And, well, you know – hold on a minute.

[00:15:01] Hunter, get off of that.

[00:15:03] That's not yours.

[00:15:04] That's for my ice cream later.

[00:15:07] Oh, my goodness.

[00:15:08] Back to you, Pete.

[00:15:10] All right, well, Joe, I hope it all gets sorted out over there.

[00:15:14] I'm not sure what's going on with that person in the background there.

[00:15:17] But, gosh, these are scary times.

[00:15:19] Just, you know, be safe.

[00:15:21] Be safe.

[00:15:24] We now go to our colleague, Brett Jensen, who is live in South Charlotte.

[00:15:28] Brett Jensen, what's the mood?

[00:15:31] Well, thanks, Pete.

[00:15:33] The mood right now is pure joy because everyone's excited that it's finally snowing.

[00:15:37] And I just went to the Harris Teeter.

[00:15:39] People are excited and stocking up still.

[00:15:42] And although there is still plenty of milk and bread to be had, but it has just finally

[00:15:46] started snowing in South Park and in South Charlotte.

[00:15:49] And this is what people have been waiting for all day.

[00:15:51] And you got to give the lockout.

[00:15:56] Oh, sorry.

[00:15:57] And back to you, Pete.

[00:15:58] Great report, Brett Jensen.

[00:16:00] Compelling and rich.

[00:16:01] That's our colleague, Brett Jensen.

[00:16:03] Stay safe out there.

[00:16:04] Don't take any crap from anybody at the grocery stores.

[00:16:08] Get your ingredients for the milk sandwiches, though.

[00:16:13] Hmm.

[00:16:14] We're now going to head out to approaching Columbia.

[00:16:18] Jean, what's the mood, Jean, on your way to Columbia?

[00:16:24] Well, Pete, the mood is very intense.

[00:16:27] We are just north of Columbia, South Carolina, heading south on 77.

[00:16:31] We have ice accumulation on the vehicle.

[00:16:35] Fellow drivers have fear in their eyes with hands at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel.

[00:16:41] The sound of the ice and rain hitting the windshield is deafening.

[00:16:45] Back to you, Pete.

[00:16:47] Oh, my.

[00:16:47] That's a harrowing tale.

[00:16:48] I feel like I'm in the car with you, Jeannie.

[00:16:50] Thank you.

[00:16:51] Stay safe.

[00:16:52] Compelling and rich.

[00:16:56] Paul in Lake Wiley.

[00:16:58] Paul, what's the mood?

[00:17:02] Hey, thanks, Pete.

[00:17:04] Out here at Five Points in Lake Wiley.

[00:17:06] Got a little bit of wet roads going on here.

[00:17:09] The mood's sort of like a park and church at the moment.

[00:17:12] It's a little bit irritating, but it'll pass and we'll get over it.

[00:17:16] But other than that, everything's going well.

[00:17:19] Back to you, Pete.

[00:17:20] Paul, have you noticed any kinds of rioting or people running out into the streets completely

[00:17:27] at a loss over their emotional faculties?

[00:17:33] Thanks, Pete.

[00:17:34] No, we got a bunch of goombas out here.

[00:17:37] They're, you know, driving at two extremes.

[00:17:40] They're either driving like, you know, an old lady or like Richard Petty out on the Charlotte

[00:17:45] Motor Speedway.

[00:17:46] There's no reasonable drivers, you know, kind of in the middle.

[00:17:51] Back to me.

[00:17:51] Back to you, Pete.

[00:17:52] Okay.

[00:17:52] Thank you, Paul.

[00:17:53] I appreciate that.

[00:17:54] Thanks.

[00:17:54] A great report.

[00:17:55] Compelling and rich.

[00:17:57] All right.

[00:17:57] I hope you had a happy holiday season, but tell me if something like this happened at

[00:18:02] your house.

[00:18:02] Your family and friends are gathered around.

[00:18:05] Maybe y'all are in the living room.

[00:18:06] You're laughing, swapping stories, reminiscing.

[00:18:09] And then somebody says, hey, dad, remember those old VHS tapes?

[00:18:13] Did you ever get them transferred?

[00:18:15] And then the room gets all quiet.

[00:18:17] All eyes are on dad who says, oh, you know, well, I've been meaning to, but I just haven't

[00:18:22] gotten around to it.

[00:18:22] Look, don't let those priceless memories sit in a box for another year.

[00:18:27] All right.

[00:18:27] Create a video has been helping families in the Charlotte area preserve their history

[00:18:32] since 1997.

[00:18:33] Simply bring in your old camcorder tapes and create a video will transfer them to a USB

[00:18:39] flash drive for just $14.95 per tape.

[00:18:42] You have a big collection.

[00:18:42] They've got a discount for you.

[00:18:44] And next year, instead of talking about those memories, imagine gathering the family to watch

[00:18:50] them together.

[00:18:51] Talk about a memorable gift.

[00:18:53] So do what I did.

[00:18:54] Trust the experts at Create a Video, conveniently located in Mint Hill, right off I-485 and

[00:19:00] online at createavideo.com.

[00:19:02] We are running Operation Snowman on the Street, where we are taking your reports live.

[00:19:09] I will toss it to you.

[00:19:10] You've been deputized.

[00:19:11] There's no pay.

[00:19:12] You've been deputized.

[00:19:13] I will toss it to you with the question of what's the mood?

[00:19:16] You then end your report with back to you, Pete.

[00:19:19] Otherwise, I will not know your report is over.

[00:19:21] But first, some breaking news.

[00:19:26] I have detected what might be considered a flurry outside the WBT studios here in West

[00:19:35] Charlotte.

[00:19:37] I'm not quite ready to panic yet, but I feel like I can still count the snowflakes as they

[00:19:42] fall.

[00:19:43] It's not really a flurry.

[00:19:44] But I'm going to call it that because if you're not terrified, I'm not doing my job.

[00:19:51] We go back out to the field.

[00:19:53] Carl at the airport.

[00:19:55] Carl, what's the mood?

[00:19:59] Cautiously optimistic.

[00:20:02] Can you hear me?

[00:20:04] Yes, Carl.

[00:20:05] We can hear you.

[00:20:05] Go ahead, Carl.

[00:20:06] This is a longtime caller and listener to WBT Carl calling in.

[00:20:11] Everybody knows me.

[00:20:12] Okay, Carl.

[00:20:13] What's the mood?

[00:20:15] Cautiously optimistic.

[00:20:19] And I'm at work, so I waited 10 minutes to punch in just to talk to you.

[00:20:25] So is this Mr. Calendar?

[00:20:28] Yes, Carl, it is.

[00:20:29] Carl, you need to give us a report about the situation on the ground at the airport.

[00:20:35] It's starting when I left South Charlotte.

[00:20:37] I was probably a half mile from where Bo called in from.

[00:20:40] And 485 is clear all the way to the airport.

[00:20:43] And it's starting to get a little bit heavier.

[00:20:47] Gaston County always seems to get their snow before we get ours.

[00:20:51] Did I hear it was four inches in Atlanta?

[00:20:54] That does sound correct.

[00:20:55] I have seen video evidence of this information.

[00:20:59] That's not good for us.

[00:21:01] So I'm here at work, like I said, so I can't disclose my exact location because I'm supposed

[00:21:06] to be working, which I'll be doing as soon as I get off the phone with you and when I

[00:21:10] throw it back to you.

[00:21:12] But I appreciate it.

[00:21:14] And can I send you an expense report for the 10 minutes I didn't call again?

[00:21:18] Yes, you can send that over to us and our accounting department.

[00:21:20] We'll take a look at that, Carl.

[00:21:21] Although I will point out you are not technically an employee, but you can send it.

[00:21:26] Right.

[00:21:26] But I play one on the radio.

[00:21:28] Exactly.

[00:21:29] All right, Carl.

[00:21:30] Back to you, Pete.

[00:21:31] Thank you, Carl.

[00:21:31] That's a fantastic report.

[00:21:33] It really brought us like right there to the scene.

[00:21:40] Janice now with a report from Unionville.

[00:21:44] Hello, Pete.

[00:21:45] Janice, what's the mood?

[00:21:46] Well, the mood here is very impatiently excited from two grandsons waiting very, very eagerly

[00:21:55] at the window for something to happen.

[00:21:58] And nothing is happening in Unionville as of right now.

[00:22:02] And they're standing there holding their snow boots and their snow bibs and pants very,

[00:22:09] very impatiently waiting for the snow to start.

[00:22:11] Now, Janice, Janice, are they aware of the concept of time?

[00:22:19] No, not at all.

[00:22:22] That's going to be very difficult then.

[00:22:25] Yes.

[00:22:25] And you can keep explaining that they've got another probably half hour or so, but they're

[00:22:30] still going to be standing by the window impatiently excited, waiting for anything to look like snow to fall.

[00:22:37] And hopefully they'll be putting on their snow boots and their bibs soon.

[00:22:43] So back to you, Pete.

[00:22:45] Compelling and rich.

[00:22:47] Thank you, Janice.

[00:22:48] We now head to my good friend Ray in Raleigh.

[00:22:54] Former Governor Cooper, what's the mood?

[00:23:03] Hmm.

[00:23:04] You seem to be having some technical difficulties out of Raleigh.

[00:23:11] Roy, can you hear me?

[00:23:14] Now we'll have to we'll have to bail on Roy.

[00:23:17] We'll come back to him if he's able.

[00:23:21] I got a report here across the transom from I don't know why that did that, but from Stan,

[00:23:27] who says Pete reporting from the Biden White House and it is snowing so fast.

[00:23:32] I need a bigger straw.

[00:23:34] Back to you, Pete.

[00:23:36] Thank you, Stan.

[00:23:39] Next up, we have Mike from the field in Monroe.

[00:23:45] Mike, what's the mood?

[00:23:47] Pete, the mood is panic.

[00:23:49] It's panic.

[00:23:50] I repeat panic.

[00:23:51] The food lion is out of milk and bread.

[00:23:55] Have there been any fiery but mostly peaceful riots that you have witnessed yet?

[00:24:01] Well, right now there's three sheriffs at the food lion and I'm afraid to go back to the scene, Pete.

[00:24:10] It's chaotic.

[00:24:11] It's desperate, Pete.

[00:24:14] I got to go, Pete.

[00:24:15] I got to go.

[00:24:16] They're coming toward me.

[00:24:17] Back to you, Pete.

[00:24:18] All right.

[00:24:18] Stay safe, Mike.

[00:24:20] Oh, my goodness.

[00:24:21] That's really a tough situation.

[00:24:24] Riveting.

[00:24:29] We now go to...

[00:24:32] Who is this?

[00:24:33] I'm getting in my ear here from the...

[00:24:36] Okay, this is Mark in downtown Charlotte.

[00:24:39] Mark, what is the mood?

[00:24:40] Hello, Pete.

[00:24:41] Things are still good right now, but we do have a significant amount of accumulation coming down.

[00:24:47] And you can see the snow coming down right now.

[00:24:50] And there's actually a bus pulled over at the side of the road, which is about a 10-second backup in traffic.

[00:24:55] Back to you, Pete.

[00:24:57] Compelling and rich.

[00:24:59] Thank you, Mark.

[00:25:00] Really sets the scene.

[00:25:05] We go now to Dave, live in Waxhaw.

[00:25:07] Dave, what's the mood?

[00:25:09] Hey, Pete.

[00:25:10] Good to see you.

[00:25:11] Good to hear you.

[00:25:13] Mood here is concerned.

[00:25:15] I'm a little bit concerned that that other fellow that was calling from the airport may be an air traffic controller.

[00:25:20] And then, of course, wasn't surprised at all that Roy was missing in action when you tried to go to him in Raleigh.

[00:25:27] But the mood here, we've got a little bit of snow coming down, not impacting traffic at all.

[00:25:34] We're just cruising down the road, enjoying some great radio.

[00:25:38] This is a really good bit, man.

[00:25:40] Over to you, Pete.

[00:25:41] Thank you, Dave.

[00:25:42] I appreciate the...

[00:25:43] You stay safe out there.

[00:25:44] We appreciate the report.

[00:25:45] Compelling and rich, as always.

[00:25:47] You can always count on Dave.

[00:25:49] He really is one of the good ones.

[00:25:50] Yes.

[00:25:51] We go now to Ned, live in the field from Lincoln County.

[00:25:55] Ned, what's the mood?

[00:25:57] Hey, doing great, Pete.

[00:25:59] Snow is starting to stick to wooden areas like decks and pull-behind trailers.

[00:26:03] Those ladies have cars in garages.

[00:26:06] Pickup trucks are outside getting covered with snow.

[00:26:08] And we're reporting live from the west part of Lincoln County, which would never be confused with Lincoln Tun or East Lincoln, which is pretty much just northwest Mecklenburg.

[00:26:20] Back to you, Pete.

[00:26:21] That's some vital information about the geographic designations, too.

[00:26:25] Ned, thank you.

[00:26:25] Compelling and rich.

[00:26:28] Operation Snowman on the Street continues.

[00:26:30] Again, if you're not terrified, I'm not doing my job.

[00:26:34] All right.

[00:26:34] If you're listening to this show, you know I try to keep up with all sorts of current events.

[00:26:38] And I know you do, too.

[00:26:39] And you probably heard me say, get your news from multiple sources.

[00:26:43] Why?

[00:26:43] Well, because it's how you detect media bias, which is why I've been so impressed with Ground News.

[00:26:49] It's an app and it's a website and it combines news from around the world in one place so you can compare coverage and verify information.

[00:26:57] You can check it out at check.ground.news slash Pete.

[00:27:03] I put the link in the podcast description, too.

[00:27:05] I started using Ground News a few months ago and more recently chose to work with them as an affiliate because it lets me see clearly how stories get covered and by whom.

[00:27:15] The Blindspot feature shows you which stories get ignored by the left and the right.

[00:27:19] See for yourself.

[00:27:20] Check.ground.news slash Pete.

[00:27:24] Subscribe through that link and you'll get 15% off any subscription.

[00:27:27] I use the Vantage plan to get unlimited access to every feature.

[00:27:31] Your subscription then not only helps my podcast, but it also supports Ground News as they make the media landscape more transparent.

[00:27:39] In these uncertain times with precipitation bearing down on the region, we have implemented Operation Snowman on the Street.

[00:27:47] You file your report.

[00:27:48] I will ask you what's the mood.

[00:27:50] You file the report and then you lock it out.

[00:27:53] You end it with back to you, Pete.

[00:27:56] Again, if you're not terrified, I'm not doing my job.

[00:28:01] We now head out to the field where we have Ben in Huntersville.

[00:28:08] Ben, what's the mood?

[00:28:11] Hi, Pete.

[00:28:11] I'm calling you from Huntersville, high above the city in my helicopter.

[00:28:14] It is gray and terrifying.

[00:28:17] The demon danger has begun to fall.

[00:28:20] Back to you, Pete.

[00:28:22] That is compelling and rich.

[00:28:24] That's a good use of the gnat sound there, too, Ben.

[00:28:26] I feel like I was in the chopper with you.

[00:28:30] I just have a communique across the transom from Dennis, live from East Charlotte near the Independence Motor Freeway at Bojangles Arena.

[00:28:40] As I sit in my living room, I am noticing there are no squirrels playing in the yards in my neighborhood today.

[00:28:46] As a daily observer of the neighborhood squirrels, I can tell you this is a sign of a potential weather disaster.

[00:28:52] I am seeing a few flakes that have just started.

[00:28:56] Back to you, Pete.

[00:28:59] We now go to Lake Wiley.

[00:29:03] JB in Lake Wiley, or, well, at Lake Wiley.

[00:29:06] JB, what's the mood?

[00:29:09] Thank you for taking my call here, Pete.

[00:29:13] The situation here, the mood is calculating, and I don't want it to be calculating in some type of nefarious way or sinister way.

[00:29:23] But I'm sitting here, and it looks like calculating the rate at which this snow is falling out here right now.

[00:29:32] To get to that one-and-a-half-inch level, it's going to be sometime around mid-March.

[00:29:37] So I think maybe, you know, we could take a pause from the panic button.

[00:29:45] But, you know, this weather thing, it's really strange.

[00:29:49] It's dynamic.

[00:29:51] Some people don't seem to understand that.

[00:29:53] They think it's just static, but it's dynamic.

[00:29:55] The only people who can really tell what's going to happen with the weather is the climate change activists,

[00:30:00] because they know what it's going to do in 100 years.

[00:30:03] Now, so, you know, we just do the best we can.

[00:30:07] And back to you, Pete.

[00:30:09] Compelling and rich.

[00:30:12] Thank you, JB.

[00:30:15] We now go to East Charlotte.

[00:30:19] Sarah in East Charlotte.

[00:30:21] What's the mood?

[00:30:23] Oh, well, Pete here.

[00:30:24] Sarah and Barry reporting from East Charlotte, and it's a little bit confusing here.

[00:30:28] It seems that it's full of just absolute, total misinformation.

[00:30:34] There's absolutely no flake falling from the sky.

[00:30:37] And as we say this, we are now, oh, wait, here come the drones.

[00:30:42] The drones are coming in.

[00:30:43] They must have heard that we were telling the truth, that this was all information.

[00:30:47] Oh, my gosh.

[00:30:48] We've apparently lost Sarah.

[00:30:51] We'll check back in with Sarah when we can.

[00:30:53] All right.

[00:30:54] That'll do it for this episode.

[00:30:55] Thank you so much for listening.

[00:30:57] I could not do the show without your support and the support of the businesses that advertise on the podcast.

[00:31:01] So if you'd like, please support them, too, and tell them you heard it here.

[00:31:05] You can also become a patron at my Patreon page or go to thepetecalendershow.com.

[00:31:10] Again, thank you so much for listening, and don't break anything while I'm gone.
