[00:00:28] Give it up for the education system, everybody. Total victory in New York City last night. Oh my gosh, K-12 and higher ed must be so proud. This is what you wanted. You got it. Be proud of it.
[00:00:48] News Talk 1110-993-WBT. Pete Kaliner here. Yes, yes, the New York City mayor's primary in the Democrat Party, which is now obviously captured by the socialists because the socialist Democrat or Democrat Socialist, whatever you want to call it, just won the primary for the mayor's race in New York City.
[00:01:12] And it really is a testament to the, quote, education and what happens when you have a government run system that prioritizes activism and the revolution. You get revolutionaries and activists and that's what you got.
[00:01:33] And now you're going to get it good and hard. Lots of it. Can't wait to see the bread lines at your government run grocery stores that your Nepo baby mayor entitled brat jihadist adjacent commie is going to give you.
[00:01:57] But you're going to pay for it. You're going to pay for it. And then you're going to keep paying for it because it's free. Yeah. Also, your transit system, that's going to be fun to watch collapse. Right. Not like a lot of people use that, like New York has the highest ridership numbers of any any metropolitan transportation system. So that's going to be fun when he makes that all free for you.
[00:02:25] Quote, quote, free. This is a man, 33 years old. This is a guy who believes capitalism is theft. He is now going to be the mayor of America's financial capital. What could go wrong?
[00:02:43] By the way, Charlotte banks, if you are an employee right now at a Charlotte area banking institution. Got an idea for you. If you are not the person to make this call, you need to get it in front of somebody who makes this call.
[00:03:01] You need to be recruiting heavily from Wall Street. You guys need to be making all sorts of overtures, all sorts, all sorts of contract offers to people working in New York City right now. Just bombard them, hire your headhunters, go get them, bring them here. Because we're the second largest financial capital, right?
[00:03:28] Well, we yeah, we became that after we we bought Bank of Earth, got them out of San Francisco. See that Charlotte saved all those bankers from San Francisco before that collapse. And now New York voting to to do a San Francisco style suicide for themselves. Now we can go get a bunch of them and bring them here. What do you say? So you could totally take that idea.
[00:03:56] Just might want to recommend some sort of screening that might go on there with the candidates that you do bring to the Queen City, because we do not need any of the people that voted for this Zoran Mamdani. We don't need his supporters coming here. We want to get everybody that voted against him or that didn't even vote in the Democrat primary. We want those people to come. This guy and I say the word communist and I'm not saying that like, oh, you're just a dirty commie.
[00:04:26] I'm not saying that. I mean, he is a dirty commie. Well, I do think he bathes because he's rich. He's a Nepo baby. Yeah, his his one of his parents. I think it's his father is a professor. You want to take a guess where? That's right. Columbia University. I know, because of course it had to be Columbia University. Dude is a self-avowed socialist, which is what communists call themselves,
[00:04:53] because they know the word communist has such terrible baggage, namely the 100 million dead bodies attached to this evil ideology. So they call themselves socialists because it sounds better. And look, they're European socialists. It's like it's totally fine. Home values on Long Island probably going to skyrocket as people flee New York City. Florida as well.
[00:05:21] The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, went to Twitter and made a comment about how they're going to have this, you know, in a more a greater influx of more people coming from New York down to Florida. But also, you know, we're going to see financial cities like ours here in Charlotte, but other, you know, fast growing regions and cities and states around the country are probably also going to see more net migration.
[00:05:52] It's just sad, but I don't think they learn without the pain. And these, I saw a video, just reposted the video of when it was announced that this guy, Ma'am Danny, had won. And it was a video from the floor among his supporters. And so they're all like cheering and going crazy. They finally have won, right? We won.
[00:06:21] Now we're going to get to implement all of our socialism. Yes. And what is notable about the video, namely the participants in the video, the people that you see in the video, they're all white. Which, have you been to New York City? That is not exactly the predominant demographic for the Democrat Party.
[00:06:46] See, but this is the socialist wing of the Democrat Party, which is ascendant in the Democrat Party. Why? See my initial comments about the education system.
[00:06:59] When you indoctrinate kids that communism is cool and capitalism is theft, as this guy says, you cannot be surprised when the little activists that you have trained up now want the power that you thought they were going to help protect for you. See, when you train up your street thugs, right? Your little Red Guard army.
[00:07:22] When you bring those people into the party and you offer them the ability to sniff the throne, they eventually want the throne. And that's what we just saw. The establishment, and don't get me wrong, I've got some commentary for the establishment Democrats as well. You reap what you sow. Okay?
[00:07:46] You guys are just as much to blame because all of this that we just saw in New York City, this mayor's race, these are the fruits of your labor. You built this. One of the only things socialists build, actually, is chaos. That's what they create. Chaos. This from the New York Post.
[00:08:12] Socialist Zoran Mamdani's stunning victory over three-term ex-governor Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral primary is, quote, a political earthquake that will pressure the National Democrat Party to move further left, according to political analysts. There's a guy quoted, I think, it's a guy, Basil Smickel or Smickel. He says, it's an important moment in political history.
[00:08:43] Mamdani's victory provides a moment for progressives and younger voters to shape the future of the Democrat Party, there is no doubt. Lee Maringov, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, said it's a political earthquake. An unknown defeating Andrew Cuomo is a changing of the guard. More Democrat voters are younger and their views have to be taken into account. I've been talking about this for years.
[00:09:13] I've been calling the Democrats the Elysium Party for years. No better example of it than what we just saw. The uber-wealthy and the affluent white female liberals or the awfuls, the AWFLs, the awfuls. They are what gave this guy his victory. People with the college degrees and white upper middle class and above.
[00:09:41] That was his base. The working crowd? They voted for Cuomo. And they lost. Now, there's still a general election. We shall see what happens there. Here's a great idea. How about making an escape to a really special and secluded getaway in western North Carolina, just a quick drive up the mountain. And Cabins of Asheville is your connection. [00:11:07] and make memories that'll last a lifetime. I got a message from Mark on Twitter who says, I saw an awful, that's an affluent white female liberal, AWFL, I saw an awful on Twitter this morning saying how excited she was because now they can actually show how well socialism works. I'm looking forward to it as well. It's finally going to really be tried, everybody. Oh my gosh, this is so amazing.
[00:11:38] Transport Workers Union President John Samuelson said, quote, The results of this primary are epic. The Transport Workers Union was one of the few labor unions, and he was like one of the only labor leaders, to pay Mamdani any mind whatsoever. Most of the other unions and leaders backed Andrew Cuomo. Mamdani's economic populist proposals to make life more affordable
[00:12:07] by soaking the rich with higher taxes to pay for freebies resonated with blue-collar voters, including bus and subway workers he represents, according to him. Now, according to the exit polling, that's not true. It appealed to people who have guilt. They have guilt about their wealth. They believe the Western civilization, and America specifically,
[00:12:34] is inherently, systemically, institutionally racist, and sexist, and oppressive. And so, they want to give away the wealth to, I mean, other people's wealth, to the less fortunate and the oppressed. Right? This is a massive experiment in virtue signaling, or suicidal empathy, if you will. Now, New York Post reports that Andrew Cuomo
[00:13:03] is just the latest scandal-scarred candidate to fail in a comeback bid after resigning as governor. I mean, it was a long time ago, remember? It was way back in 2021, so nobody remembers that, when he was facing sexual misconduct accusations, which he denied. This was the guy that the establishment Democrats put up to run. This was the guy, Andrew Cuomo. Andrew Cuomo
[00:13:33] had so besmirched his reputation and his legacy. It wasn't just the sexual harassment or misconduct accusations. He had angered teachers and their unions for not giving them everything they wanted every time they demanded it. He had, remember, locked everybody down as governor and may or may not have killed a couple thousand elderly people
[00:14:01] with his policy locking all of the nursing homes. But he's also old. Right? He's part of this, like, sort of dynasty thing that the Democrats have going on in their party. Um, and maybe in years past, he may have, he may have been able to pull this out. Maybe. But I don't think,
[00:14:30] I don't think after Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, the coup against Biden and the, uh, the installation of Kamala Harris, right? The, uh, the rigging of the primary against Bernie Sanders. I don't think, like, I think a lot of younger Democrats are really mad that they don't actually get to practice the democracy that the establishment people keep harping on.
[00:15:00] Also, Cuomo ran a pretty bad campaign. He focused almost entirely on Trump. And that's, I mean, that might get you a job as, like, the Manhattan prosecutor or something. But, it didn't, it didn't help. You're not talking to voters about stuff that actually matters to them. Right? They may want to appoint a DA that's going to go after Donald Trump and, you know, charge him with hundreds of crimes so then you can run around saying,
[00:15:30] he's a convicted felon. Like, that's fine for a DA. But for the mayor, you want somebody who understands the challenges you have and, and that's somebody you want in that position. Of course, if you're outnumbered by awfuls, well, you're out of luck. So, you might want to move out of New York City because they just keep, they just keep electing worse and worse candidates.
[00:16:01] You may recall there were other defeated candidates that were trying comebacks like, remember this guy? Elliot Spitzer. Remember that guy? Client number nine. He tried to come back. It did not go well. Who else? Oh, in this very election last night, Anthony Weiner. He was trying to come back, too. He was running for a seat on the New York City City Council. And, yeah,
[00:16:30] he did not fare very well either. He lost, too. It was a pretty flaccid performance for Weiner. Um, what else do we have? Oh, one Democrat Party source said that a Mamdani victory will cause headaches for other party incumbents. Fellow Democrat socialists may feel emboldened to challenge Democrat incumbents for Congress, such as Dan Goldman and Jerry Nadler. And I am here for it. Seriously, Democrats,
[00:17:01] congratulations on your victory. You have earned all of this. All right, if you're listening to this show, you know I try to keep up with all sorts of current events. And I know you do, too, and you've probably heard me say, get your news from multiple sources. Why? Well, because it's how you detect media bias, which is why I've been so impressed with Ground News. John, with an email, yeah, with an email, Pete, so you are saying that Wiener failed to perform last night. I, yes, he did. He absolutely did. It happens to a lot of guys. It's okay. John, another John up in Jersey, says, not just anger
[00:18:29] at the legacy candidates, the people voted for free everything as well as defunding the police. I pray the middle and lower class folks who need to escape are able to do so. No, see, they never can. The hoi polloi, they're always trapped, you know. The uber wealthy that live up in, you know, Westchester, like where AOC came from, she's not a Queens girl. She came from Westchester, okay, but being a Long Islander or anything north of the Bronx is Canada,
[00:18:59] in my mind. And that's north of the Bronx. Oh, she claims to be a Bronx girl. Was it a Queens girl or a Bronx girl? I don't even remember. It's a lie though. It's a lie. Either way. Zoran Kawame Mamdani, that's who just won the Democrat primary for mayor of New York City. Self-avowed socialist. Ran as a Democrat socialist. In a tweet, I don't know from when this is, I think it was probably around the summer of fiery,
[00:19:28] but mostly peaceful protests of love. He says, we don't need an investigation to know that the New York Police Department is racist, anti-queer, and a major threat to public safety. What we need to do is defund the NYPD. That's who is now in charge. Bill Malugian from Fox News, citing some of the things that Mamdani has previously called for. Besides abolishing NYPD,
[00:19:57] he also would very much like to abolish prisons, abolish medical bills, abolish private health insurance, ban all guns, legalize prostitution, create safe injection sites, so you'll be able to go to a safe zone to shoot up. the end of cash bail, decriminalization of all drug possession,
[00:20:28] the ending of or abolishing of sentencing enhancements, which is, you know, when you're a repeat, repeat offender, that kind of thing, like that becomes then an enhancement to your sentence, whereas if you were a first-time offender, it only would have been this one sentence, like, oh, you would get, you know, a year, but, you know, you've committed 70,000 crimes, and so now they're going to give you a year and a half. That's an enhancement, right? And he also, of course, wants to end all cooperation
[00:20:57] with ICE because New York, as we are well aware, is never a target for terrorists who come into the country illegally, right? He also wants to raise the minimum wage to $30 an hour. He wants to pay for all of this stuff by increasing the taxes on corporations as well as the really rich, like his parents, probably.
[00:21:30] This is, yeah, this is Logan Dobson, used to work for Senator Cory Gardner, Republican, the last Republican senator out of Colorado. He says, a core tenet of socialism is to have lots of rules so that the socialists can decide who gets punished for breaking them and who does not. He's exactly right. Billy Binion, he is a reporter at Reason,
[00:22:00] a libertarian magazine. He says, a lot of people say Andrew Cuomo's career should have ended with his sexual harassment scandal. And that was bad. But it should have ended before that, when he altered data and lied to taxpayers after his policies helped kill a bunch of old people. It's kind of wild. that isn't seen as the final straw. The problem for guys now like Cuomo, these party establishment folks, is that
[00:22:30] they have raised up a generation of leftist activists that proved very useful when they were trying to exert pressure on their enemy, Donald Trump. And, to a lesser extent, all Republicans, the whole basket of deplorables and such. But when you are seen as insufficiently fighting for your side and you are then rigging
[00:22:58] your internal party processes in order to maintain your grip and your fellow establishment candidates' grip on the party apparatus, those shock troops that you deployed against, you know, cops and ICE agents and Republicans in general, they will now take the power from you. I am reminded the first time I saw this happen and it wasn't violent or anything like that, but the first time I saw this happen was up in Asheville.
[00:23:29] And I know that's a total shock, right? But we saw it happen in Asheville and it was this little race. It was for the Register of Deeds, a race that nobody ever really cares about, you know? Like, nobody knows who the Register of Deeds is, they don't know what they do, whatever. There was a guy who was the Register of Deeds for a very, very, very long time. I'm trying to remember his name now, I think it was like Otto something, but big-time
[00:23:58] power broker Democrat Party had been, you know, his family, I think, they had been, you know, involved in Democrat Party politics and governance and such for decades, like a generational establishment Democrat kind of guy, but more probably of like a blue dog Democrat. And he retires. And he recommends as his replacement his number two, this woman who had been in the Register of Deeds office for almost as long.
[00:24:28] So she knew what she was doing, right? And he said, she's qualified to, you know, to take this over, she should be the pick. Well, the Democrats have an internal vote on the whole thing and she loses. She then challenges the guy that she lost to and loses again in the race. The guy she lost to Drew Reisinger, who was one of these leftist activist
[00:24:57] you know, silver spoon kids. The new guard, if you will. And I pointed this out at the time, it's the very same thing that we're seeing here, which is that Democrats built their machinery to oppose the Republicans, right? The problem is that that machinery for them, once they lose control of it from the inside,
[00:25:26] then you're done. You're done. Because they thought the machine would protect them from Republicans. But the Republicans, like the Republican voters, they all left Asheville, right? They moved outside of the county, they fled to the surrounding counties, much like we see here in Charlotte. A lot of Republicans moved to Union and Gaston County, Iredell County, Cabarrus County, because they don't want to live under the Democrat state. And what you are then
[00:25:56] left with is this internal battle. We see it on the Charlotte City Council. I saw it on Monday night. We'll get into that tomorrow. I've got some audio that I need to pull from that. It occurred at the very end of the meeting, so I haven't had time to pull it all off. But it's another example of this dynamic is that you build this machinery. I would submit it's sort of an anti-democratic machinery. It's a political machine. And when you lose control of the internal apparatus, then you're
[00:26:25] done. You don't get to stay in power because you're not leftist enough. You're not young enough. You're not fill-in-the-blank enough. Whatever it may be, whatever the activist wing is elevating as its primary criteria, criteria, right? Are you non-binary? Are you a BIPOC? Right? Are you some sort of oppressed class? And God help you if you stray off on any one of the litmus test issues for the leftist wing. And that's
[00:26:55] difficult for logical or rational blue dog conservative Democrats because the left keeps changing what the litmus test criteria are because the issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution. And so if you're not down with the revolution, if you still harbor some affinity for America, for the free markets, for patriotism, for the military, for whatever, like and the leftists say,
[00:27:25] no, no, no, that's an institutional racist entity. You can't like that anymore. And you made comments about it in the past where you were supportive of it. So that means you're out. What does Governor Kathy Hochul do now up in New York? Does she endorse Memdani as the Democrat nominee? What does Chuck Schumer do? This according to Democrat sources talking to the New York Post. In 2021, Hochul stayed neutral in the mayor's race in Buffalo when the incumbent Byron Brown lost to the Democrat socialist India
[00:27:55] Walton in the party's primary. Brown then won re-election though in a general election landslide as a write-in candidate. Do we see something like that happen in New York City? You'll never guess who is elated, elated, over the jihadist adjacent commie that just won the Democrat primary up in New York City.
[00:29:23] It's, it's somebody in North Carolina. It's somebody who's a Democrat. I'm narrowing it down. See if you can guess. She's breezy. There's a big hint, that big hint right there. I mean, if you're on Twitter because she goes by a breezy Clayton and this Anderson Clayton y'all and she cusses. That's how she wins back the rural vote. Yes, yes, she is the
[00:29:53] chair of the North Carolina Democrat party and she tweeted out, IDK, which means I don't know. I don't know about y'all. See, there it is. There's another rural vote. Every time breezy Clayton says y'all an angel gets his wings. I don't know about y'all but I regained a lot of hope last night and see municipal elections. Here we come. So, Democrats,
[00:30:23] heads up, your chair of your party would very much like to see socialists knock off establishment, moderate, if you can call them that, more palatable Democrats. She wants to take your party further to the left. She wants the socialists to win. She's very excited about it. That's
[00:30:53] who you guys have as your chair. You might want to do something about that, unless, of course, you think that you can turn all of these cities into socialist hellholes. I mean, sorry, utopias. Sorry, utopias. Still, Mamdani's leftist vision, again, this is the New York Post article, Mamdani's leftist vision on public safety and strident opposition to Israel may not play as well in the general election as in the primary. Keep in mind, by the way,
[00:31:23] New York City has the largest Jewish population of any city on the planet outside of Israel. There are more Jews living in New York City than anywhere else besides Israel, which kind of blows up that whole the Jews control everything narrative, I think, right? If you just got some anti-Semite that's now the mayor of the city, I don't know, I got a message here. I'm not sure if he has a
[00:31:53] keffiyeh, but if I had to guess, I would say definitely. Also, yes, Sean, he wants the government to take over the grocery stores, so all of the whole foods will now become some foods. I think that's where that heads. But don't count out Eric Adams. No, I'm serious. He's still in the race. He
[00:32:23] left the Democrat party. He's running as an independent. We'll see how that works out for him. There's also a Republican in the race. That's Curtis Sliwa, who could either one of them could benefit from Mamdani's primary victory over Cuomo. Now, Cuomo could also run. There's another ballot that he or a party's ballot that he could jump onto, run as another party name.
[00:32:53] So, New York does not have that restriction, so Cuomo could then make another run for it. I think that would be very stupid. Cuomo's people, his voters, his donors, they need to put their money and their votes behind somebody other than Mamdani, other than Cuomo. Because Adams is saddled by his own corruption scandals, despite federal charges being dropped. He can run as
[00:33:23] the more moderate law and order and fiscally responsible candidate. He can cite a drop in crime and an improved post-COVID-19 pandemic economy. Curtis Sliwak can make the same argument. He was actually the founder of the Guardian Angels. There's also another guy named Jim Walden. I don't believe he owns any woods, but he's also running, he's an independent. Yeah, Cuomo could also run on an independent fight and
[00:33:52] deliver ballot line, but many supporters may now switch to Mandami as he's the Democrat nominee. So it's all still up in the air for as far as predictions go. Although if you look at the betting markets, Mandami is the odds-on favorite to win in November. And then New York City will get exactly what it deserves. All right, that'll do it for this episode.
