Make the WNBA abide its stated principles | Hour 1

I'm old enough to remember it when people started saying really crazy things and they were out in the streets chanting the crazy things, and then some people in power started implementing the crazy things as policy. Man, that was crazy, right. It's like, man, who it was like five years ago? But ma'am what a time, right? I mean, Okay, some crazy things were said, some people's lives got ruined. Okay, sure, but I think you know, woke won. It was just kind of a crazy time. That's what Alexandria A Kazuo Cortez left on this week on ABC News with Jonathan carl Here's how that sounded. Is that is that Francesca Hang has made clear her present stances to her life. She's moved away from right, she's. Moved away from it. And I have a local city councilman that has this uh saying woke one was crazy. A yeah, it still is and we're still in it. It's not over, despite Piers Morgan writing a book called Woke is. Dead, he's over in England. Don't take his authority on any of this. The problem This is from a Twitter account angerand Des Susie or something. I don't know what his real name is, but he says, the. Problem with claiming that you did and said insane things not because you believed them, but because you were swept up in a mass hysteria. It doesn't excuse your having said and done the insane stuff. It actually just marks you as a person who will do the crazy things if you think they're popular, and we'll get people to like you and give you power over them. And he's exactly right, He's exactly right this idea that, oh man, we said some crazy stuff like abolish the police, abolished the prisons. I hate Thanksgiving America deserved nine to eleven. I mean, now, all of these DSA, these anti American positions, anti West positions right a sudden, it's a liability. Oh we just said some crazy things back then. Who among us youthful indiscretions or something Christian hinz, He points out. Democrats think they can brush this off without actually conceding anything like, oh wow, you know what crazy time you know? But he says, you do not get to laugh away the generational enemies you created. Does calling woke one crazy mean you now oppose any of the ideological positions that wokeism demanded of you? Of course not. They haven't changed their minds about any of this stuff. These things have come to define the left. At this point, no Democrat can oppose them without losing their own primary. So does anybody honestly believe that AOC or any Democrat would vote to end transing kids, to keep the southern border permanently closed, to deport all all illegal aliens, to stop openly discriminating against white dudes in hiring practices, college admissions, or the legal code. No, if they return to power, they will continue to pursue these same crazy ideas, which brings us. To basketball. And oh my goodness, I am so here for this story. I actually got check this out. I opened up the email inbox and I got an email from Jesse, and Jesse just says I am a prophet, and he attaches to it an email that he had sent to me a decade ago, March thirty first, twenty sixteen, and we were talking about what men in women's bathrooms and the NBA ten years ago. Here's what he wrote ten years ago. I am fed up with all your potty talk, Pete. No one gives a poop. Get your mind out of the toilet. But seriously, but not really, with the NBA's protest to HB two, I think this is a prime opportunity for benchwarmers and players who didn't make the cut to start identifying as women and try out for the WNBA. If turned away, they can shove their protest of HB two in their face while chanting bigot. If they don't take my advice, they'd just be flushing their career away and I'd wash my hands of the matter. Don't poopoo this idea, it's a breath of fresh air. So he called it ten years ago. This is what we were talking about ten years ago. Right with HB two, we were a bit ahead of the curve here in North Carolina on this whole debate, to be. Sure, but I am all for this. These two former NBA players now that are going to enter or say they will enter the WNBA Draft. The first one to announce this was enes Kant Freedom. That is a he changed his name. He added freedom to it, I think when he became a US citizen. He was a former NBA first round draft pick number three overall in twenty eleven. He played eleven seasons for the Jazz, the Thunder, the Knicks, the Blazers, and the Celtics, and he announced he is declaring eligibility for the draft. He posted a video. He said he believes he qualifies under the league's current eligibility guidelines and intends to challenge how the WNBA applies its inclusion policies. Here's what he said, after a careful consideration in reviewing the current eligibility guidelines, I am officially declaring myself a WNBA prospect. If simply declaring who you are is all that's required, then I meet every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA. My team and I have carefully examined the eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self identification and inclusion. Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the draft. I'm definitely not here to mock, make fun of, or to disrespect any community or personal choices. I am simply asking that the current rules be applied equally to everyone, and rules that represent the very values many WNBA players and coaches have publicly advocated for my team, and I are prepared to ensure these guidelines are applied equally, consistently, and without exception. So first there was Enuskant Freedom announcing he would enter the WNBA draft claiming to be transgender, because that apparently is all one is required to do, is to just claim that this has always been the problem. By the way it's always been. The problem is like, how do you make these decisions on whether or not to you know, provide the the puberty blockers and the hormones and the even surgeries for children, and you know, how do you start transing these kids? And it's like, well, if the kid says it, if the kid says I'm not a boy, I'm a girl, then it's like okay, good enough for us. And like that is not an objective standard. And so he's testing the limits of that standard and applying it to the WNBA, which, like, I've never seen an organization make as many terrible decisions, you know, counter productive decisions as the WNBA. It's like just every other week it seems like there's another example of them doing something really stupid to drive people away from their sport rather than you know, riding the way of popularity that they have recently been enjoying thanks to the performance and the rivalry of but Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese and Sophie Cunningham, like you've got these you've got these stars, and they're bringing people into the game and you're you're like driving the fans away with this kind of stuff. Like they you see, like a week or so ago, they posted a video of like from the All Star Game, of two of the players betting on the game. They made a bet with each other on the game. That's not allowed. You're not allowed to like Pete Rose is not in the Baseball Hall of Fame because of that. You're not allowed to do that. And they just put a video out and the league promoted it. The league shared the video, all right, So first it was Enis Canterer Freedom, and now it's Royce White. Former NBA first round pick Royce White says he too will declare for seven w NBA draft. Oh earlier this week, I made the announcement I'm transgender. I'm a woman. I'm I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purposes of basketball professional basketball. So I'll be declaring for the w NBA Draft in twenty twenty seven as well. I mean, I think I'd be unstoppable, you know. But I'm I'm a team first guy. You know. I'm a I'm a past first kind of player. I do the little things, you know. I led my team in all five major stack categories at at Iowa State University. So I do a little bit of Everything'll do whatever the coach needs me to do. I'll do whatever the girls need me to do. I think the WNBA could come out and make a definitive statement about about guys playing in the in the women's Association. But you know, hey that that that be, that'd be probably too much like right, so, and I don't want to be discriminated against. Now, I want I want fair treatment. I'm a black, I'm a young black hopefully United States senator that like that would like a fair chance to participate as a sometimes identifying as a transgender woman athlete. Uh yeah, let let's see what the w n b A says to this. I think they're meeting. They announced the league was going to be meeting to review what a woman is they see. And this is why this is important to test these things in this way, is because when they are telling you these things that are not true, that like men can become women, there's no physiological advantage. Do you know, Like, does anybody in the w NBA dunk? As far as I know that, there are no there's no ability to dunk the basketball in the w n b A. I'm not a fan. I don't watch it, but that's what I have been reliably informed about. So you're gonna tell me there's no physiological advantage to put men competing with women. And when a decade ago when all. Of this stuff first exploded with the House bill to debate about access to locker rooms and bathrooms, and then the NBA was like, how dare you We're you know, we are you know, we're We're against bigotry. We're going to pull the game out of Charlotte. Right. I remember, and I'm listening to people tell me things that are obviously not true. They are trying to gaslight me. And now, as AOC said, oh my gosh, woke one was so crazy. So I guess there's going to be a woke too. Is there a woke too? It's all still going on, right because the WNBA has now they they've been forcing this issue. The reporters that asked these questions of the athletes, that's how all of this started, this latest round, that's how this started. A reporter went up to Sophie Cunningham, who's a teammate of Caitlin Clark for the Indiana Fever and asked her about should boys be able to play on girls' sports and she answered she said no, they shouldn't. Now, as far as I like I've seen Sophie Cunningham has, she does like, you know, like the basketball camps for little girls. So this is something she does. She she wants to, you know, get more girls playing athletics. And so when they asked her, she said, oh, also she's a Christian, so got to ask her. And then of course the outrage ensues, and now all the other players are like, how dare you? I would have no problem with a trans woman being on my team or playing against us, And you get the coaches coming out saying this stuff. It's like, why are you guys? You're the WNBA. There's obviously a difference. Otherwise you would be in the NBA, but you are not because it's not the m NBA, right, just the NBA. You have your own. Little league that the NBA funds for women. You've got these You've got these players now that are exposing this product to like a lot more people, and you just seem intent on destroying it. John Daniel Davidson over at the Federalist, he said, no matter how the WNBA responds, whether to allow these men into the league or to clarify that they are not eligible, either way they go on this, it'll expose the lie that's at the heart of this that a man can become a woman simply by wishing himself. So that's why this is important. And yes, it also makes a mockery of the WNBA, which I'm usually for because my goodness, like, they're so terrible now rearing news. You've heard me talk about reporters in the sports world. They are some of the most left wing people and most ignorant about their own politics. But they they're just awful. And not all of them. There are some good ones, to be sure, But this guy, I guess, unless it's Ai David Suggs writing at sportingnews dot com, what the WNBA rulebook actually says about men playing in women's league. Yeah, so we'll get to David Suggs in a moment. Oh, the WNBA, indeed, what does the W stand for? It is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. But thankfully, two men who identify as women for the purpose of playing basketball are going to force the WNBA one way or the other to articulate an objective standard. Whatever it's going to be. We shall see. I don't know, they're meeting today to discuss what is a woman? And by the way, all of this was prophesied. We've heard, like you had the documentary. Juwanna man, you have the other documentary, Lady Ballers. Right, they create an entire team of men that are not good enough to play professionally but can beat women. This is not a new concept. This is just finally forcing the left to live by the standards that it claims to support. Let me go over to the text line, Actually, well no, hang on, second, I mentioned David Siggs at sportingnews dot com. So can these guys do this? In as Cantor Freedom is one of the men, his latest publicity stunt doesn't appear likely to land him in the WNBA. Article thirteen, section one of the Collective Bargaining Agreement states, quote, only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA. O. Wow, I guess you got him, Sugs. You totally you totally close this case. Huh only players who are women? So okay, Well, what's a woman? Oh? I'm not a biologist. I don't know. I'm We're gonna have to get a definition here, Suggs say, that's what he's testing. Article thirty four, section six of the Collective Bargaining Agreement vows to strike out discrimination. I don't know what that means. Through the edict, the league, it's teams, and the players Union promised to not discriminate against or in favor of any player because of religion, race, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status or activity or lack of activity. I don't know what that means. So like you could be a lazy person and you're going to get discriminated against or something like no, no, no, if you are really really lazy, we will not discriminate against you in this league that ostensibly measures athletic ability and competition, I don't understand, Like a lack of activity, I don't know what that means. But you notice what's not covered there, gender identity mm hm. Also because of religion, race, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, or activity. Well, sex is not listed there either, so you can discriminate based on sex. But then that brings you back to the first question again, what's a woman? And like a question that is so very simple for most people to answer all around the world and throughout all of human history, the left pretends to not know the answer. More from this piece by Suggs, which again I'm not sure, like maybe he's foreign, he may be British or something like because it's sporting news, and maybe that's like the British thing, like sporting news, you know. Like I don't know because like some of the phrases that he uses in here, it's either AI or he's not very good. But anyway, there has been just one transgender and non binary player in WNBA history, Leyshia Clarendon, who played for the Fever Dream. Wait a minute, you got two teams, ones called the Fever, once called the Dream. So when they play each other, it's a Fever Dream matchup? Is that what I'm reading? Is that what I'm reading? So? Leashia Clarendon played for the Fever Dream, Sun, Liberty, Links, and Sparks across her twelve year career, so she was averaging like two years per team. Every two years she'd be on a different team. Canter Freedom, who played eleven seasons in the NBA, has made trans athletes. The target of his scorn. Before you get the idea where this reporter is coming from, in twenty twenty three, he flirted with putting on a wig, identifying as a woman, and attempting to embark on a WNBA career during a rant on x oh so. In other words, to do the same thing. So that's not actually making trans athletes the target of his square. His scorn is directed towards the WNBA. That's what he's doing, is that when the outrage will begin. Is that fair to all the women who spent their whole life chasing their goals? Where are all the women's rights activists and feminists? He said? So he's been retired since twenty twenty two. Now. In the collective bargaining agreement, According to Suggs, only players who are women are eligible to play. The league does not have a public facing policy regarding transgender athletes, making no specific reference to their eligibility in the collective bargaining agreement. This is not the first time that this has come up either. Last year there was discussion about this also after was the NWSL I think the National Women's Soccer League or something. They wanted a stricter policy. There was a defender named Elizabeth Eddie, and she requests that the league implement a new process to determine eligibility. She called on the league to require only people born with ovaries to be eligible to play. She also suggested the league test players via a gene test, which was used at the World Athletics Championships last year. Such tests, though, can prove faulty and dehumanizing. Zambian soccer star Barbara Banda was left out of the twenty twenty two African Cup of Nations after failing to meet the competition's gender rules due to elevated testosterone levels. Her test wasn't handled properly. She has continued to be subjected to anti black and transphobic abuse in the years since the results of her test went public, with transphobe jk Rowling calling her a man in a social media post in twenty twenty four. Both the NWSL and the Orlando Pride were forced to put out statements denouncing the language directed towards Banda during games. So you see where this guy's coming from. He just throws in the name transphobe on jk Rowling. Now, I do not endorse all of the people attacking this person, Banda, Barbara Banda, whatever, like that's uncalled for. You shouldn't be doing that. But you also shouldn't be labeling jk Rowling as a transphobe either, because she's not. All she's saying is that, like, there are women's spaces and there were men's spaces for reasons, again an opinion held by the vast majority of the human species since we've been around. So this former WNBA player, Leshia Clarendon, made history as the first active non binary and trans players. So I got two check marks there. She got the non binary and trans in the NBA. And don't worry about misgendering Leshiah Clarendon because he she They uses all the pronouns, all of them, and so this reporter proceeds to use them all as they describe Clarendon's career. Yeah, so inclusive. See, here's why the WNBA story matters and why you're going to get people that are wanting to dismiss it or call you names because they know where the public is on this matter men playing in women's sports. That is a very unpopular position that the left has been force feeding the culture for a decade that this is what you have to do, this is what you know, this is what is right and humane and everything else. And now that like they've lost some races and politically they've been damaged by some of this stuff. Woke one, as AOC called it. Now they just want to kind of laugh past it. They want to pretend that they weren't doing these things for the last decade, destroying people's lives, ruining businesses and such. Right, it's all part of that, remember the old cancel culture stuff, the cancelations. Right. They don't want to take any kind of responsibility for their role in advancing these toxic ideas because they haven't abandoned them. They just know it hurts them politically. So, for example, our pal Paige Maston over at the Charlotte Observer Deputy opinion editor, Republicans are determined to weaponize transgender issues in North Carolina's US Senate race. Again, the Republicans have not weaponized trans gender issues. Republicans have responded to you, You guys have transgressed. The left has pushed these things under the premise of progress. The constant tearing down of norms and standards and institutions. That's the transgression, that's the weaponization. The response is not the first act, obviously, it's a response. But now she's going after Michael Wattley for highlighting this controversy up in Wake County, a trans teacher, and she says a classroom is not a locker room, and it's not a sports competition, so the arguments about privacy and fairness don't apply here, right, So okay, so you don't think men should be able to play on women's teams, or you're just saying you can't use that argument because this is different. To suggest that every transgender person is a predator and therefore should be barred from holding certain jobs displays a level of bigotry that feels far too familiar. It's like something out of Jesse Helms's anti gay playbook, except it's twenty twenty six and picking on an oppressed group of people is somehow still a legitimate campaign strategy. Now, the controversy out of Way County is that the teacher is a male dressing as a female and is in front of very young students. That's the transgression, and that's not weaponizing. She says. It also threatens to erase any political advantage Wattley may have had on the topic, because you know, while the public is with us on the sports teams and stuff, they're not for discrimination and employment. For example, because we know Page is very interested in helping Michael Wattley in his campaign. Good advice, all right. That'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
