[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Good morning and welcome to the Vince Coakley radio program.
[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Hope everything is well in your world.
[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_01]: As you know, there are a lot of people in our region who are not doing well.
[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_01]: They are at a place of serious challenge.
[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean really we're talking about survival.
[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And of course this is getting national attention. New York Post.
[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Death toll triples in Asheville area after Hurricane Helene guts North Carolina.
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And they quote from their story, there were bodies in the trees.
[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_01]: The death toll from catastrophic flooding in the Asheville area more than tripled to at least 40.
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about just Asheville area.
[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_01]: There are other areas with fatalities.
[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Survivors in remote mountain towns describe seeing the bodies of victims stuck in trees.
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Nationwide, 133 fatalities from Hurricane Helene which has cut a path of death and destruction across the southeast since making landfall last Thursday.
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_01]: This accounts about bodies in trees under rubble from a person in Black Mountain, a village of 8400 people 12 miles from Asheville.
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: That community all but destroyed.
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The rain smashed the mountains of Buncombe County which contains Asheville washing away whole communities and floodwaters and mudslides.
[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Roadways, buried, dissolved altogether leaving victims cut off from rescue crews.
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: It's quite a mess out there.
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And one person who's gotten a close look at some of this and he joins us yesterday.
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: It's done a little more getting more of a look of what's taking place in other parts of North Carolina.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Our good friend Brett Jensen who joins us now.
[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Brett, good morning and welcome back man.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you Vince, I appreciate it sir.
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Tell us more about your journeys and what you've discovered just in the past 24 hours.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah you know since last time we spoke was on the far side of Shelby getting close to Rutherford County and Polk County and that's when, almost right after I spoke to you is when I lost self service.
[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_05]: And was able to get up to Lake Lore and close to the Chimney Rock Village area.
[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Was able to actually get to Lake Lore.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_05]: And if you go to my ex-account at Brett underscore Jensen then you will see the videos that I posted and it doesn't even look like there's a lake there.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Vince, I showed the video to my girlfriend and she was like well where's the water?
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like no that's the lake.
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_05]: But there's so much debris you can't see the actual water.
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_05]: With parts of houses and just mass destruction and somebody said yeah that's part of what came down into Lake Lore from the Chimney Rock Village.
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was talking to officials up there yesterday and they were saying that the water because you know you're getting a funnel from both sides of the mountain going down to the valley almost like a sieve.
[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And it was so intense that the water started flowing in the opposite direction like the river and the lake was going in the opposite direction upstream which caused even more havoc.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And so you've got downstream water now going against upstream water and just massive over three feet of rain that they were getting and it just caused mass mass destruction.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_05]: So everything you see in my video of Lake Lore essentially came from Chimney Rock Village which is pretty much gone for the most part.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_05]: It's pretty much not even standing there anymore and then I was able to make my way up to Hendersonville and Asheville and just tons of damage obviously is one might assume.
[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_05]: And yesterday in Asheville they had just some of the gas stations had just started opening up because they just started getting electricity yesterday for the first time.
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Not everywhere but a couple places and there were cars 40 deep trying to get in line to get to these gas stations to get gas.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_05]: And so it's they are it's going to be a long time before Asheville a major city going to be a lot.
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Billmore Village was eight feet underwater.
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean think about that for a second like eight to 10 feet underwater built more village and you know right near to Billmore estate.
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like maybe a couple blocks or a mile or so from that in the same vicinity.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Billmore Village completely underwater.
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_05]: You know tractor trailers had been lifted up and sitting on top of knocked over trees now.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And so that's how deep the water was it was rushing everything and carrying everything.
[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_05]: And there's the only way out of Asheville is I 26 South you can't go east on I 40 you can't go west on I 40 you can't go north in the upper like on the side of the roads.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_05]: The only way out as someone told me yesterday is either I 26 South or the airport.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_05]: That's the only way out of Asheville right now.
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow this is absolutely incredible and as you might expect this is going to take quite a while to clean up the mess that is out there.
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: What are you seeing in terms of resources being brought to bear in terms of I mean obviously people have needs of food and water and other supplies in addition to fuel.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: What are you seeing in terms of people coming in to help and providing these things.
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_05]: So yesterday I saw electric trucks you know trucks that you know try to put you know power poles together in the power lines back together electric trucks coming from tech license plates that had Texas license plates that had Florida that were driving up trying to get to the mountains of North Carolina.
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_05]: You see I know here locally you know Gaston County police Gaston County Sheriff Mecklenburg County Sheriff's CMPD Moresville PD everyone is sending officers up there for like two and three days at a time and then coming back.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I spoke I spoke to one high ranking officer today who said that people up in Buncombe County said hey can you do me a favor can you try and reach here the numbers from all my officers and my majors.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Can you call my majors because I don't have access to call them can you call them and see if they're okay and still still living and wow so they did they called all these people and said hey can you know are you is everything all right are you able to do what can you do what can you not do.
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_05]: And so people are doing that and you know we've got over 40 people dead just in Buncombe County alone that's where Asheville is then you've got I was told yesterday up to seven people in Rutherford County that have been dead.
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Avery County looks like it could be a complete disaster up there in Avery County where they're like there's almost you know more than 100 people unaccounted for up there where they're thinking the death coal could be 2550 75 people just in Avery County.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And so that's what we're seeing everywhere and lack of water but you when you drive up there.
[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_05]: You see all these trucks going up there just big very huge pickup trucks with just pallets of water everyone was just trying to take water up there just because there is no water like the water systems the sewer system still aren't working I believe in seven counties.
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow this is a disaster I mean that's probably one of the most accurate words you can use and we continue to see the manifestations of this all over the area.
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And there are a lot of people who certainly very interested in helping out and we're going to talk more about that a little bit later on.
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So Brett Jensen we so appreciate the work that you've done in bringing this to our attention and I look forward to talking to you again very soon.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I appreciate that Vincent again if anyone wants to see the videos from Lake Lord that I was talking about Brett underscore Jensen on my ex account.
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: All right Brett underscore Jensen on X and you will find this ace reporter and the the all of the journey that he has captured over the past couple of days I think you will find this to be quite fascinating.
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to tell you about breaking news occurring this morning it's not a surprise the hostilities between Israel and Iran.
[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Now we have this story breaking this morning according to a White House official Iran is preparing an imminent ballistic missile attack against Israel imminent.
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_01]: This report indicating the United States actively supporting Israel's defensive preparations.
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: This is according to official speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter a directed military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran.
[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: That is the warning they're sending out now whether this is heated that's another story.
[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's going to be heated.
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we're heading down the road to probably open war between Iran and Israel.
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean so far at least Israel.
[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We've seen Israel straightforwardly trying to take on terrorists and at the same time Iran has been hiding behind proxies getting their proxies to do the dirty work.
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Now the question is is Iran going to take a step of escalation and carry out this direct military attack according to the White House.
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: That is going to happen imminently.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll keep you posted if anything happens this morning we will certainly let you know.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: We started off talking about Hurricane Helene and this is a storm.
[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's caught so many people by surprise in terms of the severity of this.
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And I've heard a number of times people say at least as relates to the Carolinas they have compared this to Hugo and some because of where they are and how they have been directly hit.
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_01]: For them it's much worse than Hugo.
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no doubt this is going to remain in their memory for quite some time.
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_01]: CNN reporting at least 130 people died across six states and officials fear the death toll is going to rise.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Many more remain missing.
[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You heard that figure here in Western North Carolina the expectation and concern is for 600 people or so who are not accounted for yet.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully it's just a matter of communication for many of those people.
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: They have fled to find safe ground for a time and they will be back.
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: That's our hope and expectation.
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's how they're reporting this.
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Many more remain missing perhaps unable to leave their location or unable to contact family where communications infrastructure is in shreds.
[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You heard that earlier in our conversation with Brett Jensen about one of the things to try to get people to do is to have other departments make calls for them to reach out to their own police and their own deputies because they can't reach them.
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: The communications infrastructure is just shut.
[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Hundreds of roads remain closed especially in the Carolinas hampering the delivery of badly needed supplies more than 2 million customers still without power.
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a medium chance a new storm develops in the western Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico later this week.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Too early to know where it will go from here so anyone near the Gulf will need to monitor the forecast.
[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And as you know it's not just the Gulf.
[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: President Joe Biden will visit some of the affected areas later this week.
[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Communicating that he will do so as soon as it will not disrupt emergency response operations.
[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump expressed condolences to those affected by Hurricane Eileen and receiving recovery briefings.
[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's the broad picture of what's happening nationwide and regionally.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Coming up we're going to tell you how you can get involved and we're also going to tell you how you can find help.
[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of you it's not just a matter of yeah I need food and water right now.
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of you have disasters that are far beyond just immediate needs.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You've lost a home or you've lost a job a business whatever it is and we've got some information for you as well on how you can get some help.
[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the things that's gratifying about horrible situations like we were observing especially in western North Carolina is the spirit of volunteerism.
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_01]: The people stepping up to the plate who are just saying you know I may not have a lot but I want to share what I have.
[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: It might be resources it might be manpower.
[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot of things that people are doing and maybe for many of you you're wondering how do I help?
[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Where do I start? Where do I go in terms of efforts that are reliable?
[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: That's I know that the resources are going to go to the people in need.
[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to encourage you to go to the WBT page just go to WBT.com and you will find a link there that says how to help.
[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Donate to support recovery efforts in western North Carolina after Tropical Storm Helene.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is click on that and it tells you all the information that you need to know.
[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll just tell you about some of these along the way.
[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_01]: There's the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.
[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_01]: This supports nonprofits providing essential aid to storm victims including food, water, cleaning supplies and other emergency resources.
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_01]: All contributions will be dedicated to disaster relief efforts.
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_01]: The United Way of North Carolina services the funds fiscal agent distributing grants and reimbursements to nonprofits working in affected communities.
[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And you can actually go to the link as to where to make your contribution right there on the page.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, this is WBT.com. It's a place to mail your contribution.
[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: You also have the American Red Cross. There's a link where you can do that.
[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_01]: If you would prefer to do so you can also call or text Samaritans Purse.
[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: North Carolina based ministry.
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: They deploy staff, equipment, recruit thousands of volunteers to deliver emergency assistance victims of natural disasters.
[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Like what we have just observed.
[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a link for Samaritans Purse.
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Salvation Army of the Carolinas.
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_01]: A link to donate there.
[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Baptist on Mission.
[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: World Central Kitchen.
[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Operation Air Drop.
[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_01]: They're best at Concord Regional Airport.
[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of cool.
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Texas based 501C3.
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Dedicated to providing rapid relief to communities impacted by natural disasters.
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And there are other resources for people affected by Helene.
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: This is especially for people who have been victims of the storm.
[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the Department of Public Safety in North Carolina.
[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_01]: The Red Cross.
[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_01]: USA.gov.
[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Disaster Assistance.gov.
[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Drive in C.
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You can check for road closures.
[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Duke Energy.
[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Finding out about power outages and the timetable to hopefully get back on.
[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So all of this again is WBT.com.
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll see a link how to help.
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Just click there and all the information I have just described to you, you can find it there.
[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So do not fear if you missed what I've just told you.
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_01]: The other thing I reported about the news and observer.
[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot of needs out there that go beyond just the immediate needs for food, clothing, water.
[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: There are long term needs that some people will have.
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's a need for some.
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're one of those people.
[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_01]: You need to apply for federal aid available through FEMA.
[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_01]: The Federal Emergency Management Agency.
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So we already have the major disaster declaration.
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So as a result, there are a number of people in certain counties who are able to apply for funds for temporary housing, repairs and rebuilding of homes, rather needs like medical expenses, damage to an essential vehicle, funeral expenses, childcare expenses and much more.
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: There is a total of 25 counties that are approved for this.
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure if you go online and look this up, you'll, you should know pretty early as to whether you would be qualified to do this.
[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_01]: But you can go to the FEMA website or you can call the FEMA helpline, 800-621-3362-8613362, online disasterassistance.gov.
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Disasterassistance.gov.
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned just the counties that are in our immediate area.
[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Avery, Burke, Haldwell, Kataba, Cleveland, Gaston.
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And those are the only counties I see on here that are probably within our listening area.
[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_01]: There may be some listening online beyond this, but there's a total of 25 counties.
[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you are in this place, I would just suggest you go to the website, disasterassistance.gov and get the help that you need.
[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Interestingly enough, this is one of those occasions where we also learn about our economic system.
[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_01]: How many people did you hear in the reporting from Brett Jensen?
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Talk about the need for cash.
[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Craig posted this on social media.
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: This storm showed the importance of paper currency.
[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: When everything went black, that card wasn't worth the plastic it was made from.
[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep, that's a problem.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Which is one of the reasons why whenever you have an emergency situation that is coming,
[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: one of the preparations you should make is to have cash.
[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you have cash as in money because you do not know whether those ATMs are going to work
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and you don't know whether the places where you're going will be able to accept them if the power is out.
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So, the power of currency.
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: You continue to hear this clap trap about millionaires and billionaires paying their fair share.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember Rush used to have it on his page.
[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that is still there, if it's still up.
[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's some really good information that I suspect most people have no idea.
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the truth of the information that is there.
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking about where tax dollars come from.
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think most people understand this subject.
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I want you to listen what I'm about ready to share.
[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of you have already heard this before.
[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_01]: This is not new.
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: But this is the kind of thing that needs to be publicized so that people are not manipulated by idiots.
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And yes, I don't mind saying these are idiots.
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's really probably worse than saying that they're stupid.
[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: These are evil people because they're lying to you.
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a matter of ignorance.
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I think these people know the truth and sometimes they're telling you something that is absolutely not true.
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And they know it's not true, but they want to manipulate.
[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so what is it?
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Matt Walsh posted this.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: The top 1% of income earners pay almost 50% of federal income taxes.
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Let me repeat that again.
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The top 1% of income earners pay almost 50% of federal income taxes.
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: The top 10% pay 75%.
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: The bottom 50 pay 2%.
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_01]: In what way is this fair?
[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: How in God's name do you make it more fair by making the people who already pay for almost everything pay even more?
[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_01]: What definition of fairness are we using here?
[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a good question, isn't it?
[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the reality.
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You can have politicians telling you all kinds of fiction designed to manipulate you and give you an impression that rich people aren't paying this or that.
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just not true.
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So be aware of this.
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And anybody who tells you otherwise, they don't know what they're talking about.
[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: They really don't.
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of economics, the last thing we need right now, shortages.
[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they could happen.
[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_01]: AP reports dock workers at ports from Maine to Texas started walking picket lines early today in a strike over wages and automation that could reignite inflation and cause shortages of goods if it goes on more than a few weeks.
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_01]: The contract between the ports and about 45,000 members of the International Longshoremen's Association expired at midnight.
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And even though progress was reported in talks yesterday, the workers went on strike.
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Strike affecting 36 ports is the first by the Union since 1977.
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a long time.
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Was that 47 years?
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Workers started picketing at the Port of Philadelphia shortly after midnight, walking in a circle at a rail crossing outside the port in Channing.
[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_01]: No work without a fair contract.
[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_01]: The Union had message boards on the side of a truck reading, automation hurts families.
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_01]: ILA stands for job protection.
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Local ILA president, Boyce Butler said workers want a fair contract that doesn't allow automation of their jobs.
[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Folks, it's coming.
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You know this.
[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of these jobs, let's be honest, they're going to go away.
[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Shipping companies made billions during the pandemic by charging hard high prices.
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Now we want them to pay back.
[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to pay back.
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It's saying the Union is going to strike as long as it needs to get a fair deal and has leverage over these companies.
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So this is a pretty important subject.
[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: We've told you about two things going on.
[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_01]: We've got war in the Middle East and we've got domestic issues here with this strike,
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_01]: which could cause some real supply chain issues if it goes very long.
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Things that the White House is certainly keeping an eye on.
[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_01]: On Sunday with the prospect of a strike, this is obviously on the minds of White House officials.
[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, so much so.
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe we can give Joe Biden the benefit of the doubt and the fact that I think there was a helicopter either dropping him off or waiting to take him.
[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_01]: It looks like he was returning home.
[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So it may have just dropped him off.
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So it may have been loud.
[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_01]: You also know that in addition to the conflict between Israel and Iran,
[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_01]: we also have ongoing hostilities between Israel and Yemen.
[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So when you consider all these things together,
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: you have a little confusing situation that happened on Sunday
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: when Joe Biden was asked a couple of questions by reporters.
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I want you to ask, listen to the questions and then Joe Biden's answer and see if he knew these reporters were talking about.
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Here is Biden from Sunday.
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Mr. President, will you deploy more U.S. troops to the Middle East?
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Mr. President, has Mr. Yahu come too far?
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Any comment on the strikes in Yemen, Mr. President?
[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_02]: In case you couldn't hear it, here's what he said.
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: On the strikes in Yemen.
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I've spoken to both sides.
[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: They got to settle the strike.
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm supporting the collective bargaining effort.
[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I think they'll settle the strike.
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oops.
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness.
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_01]: What are people thinking when they watch this?
[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_01]: He was asked about the Middle East, about Israel, about strikes in Yemen.
[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And he somehow thought this was a reference to a possible strike that is now underway.
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So at this point, there is nothing that's been worked out between both sides.
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But the President sure hoped that would happen.
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And welcome to hour number two of the Vince Coakley radio program.
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Did I hear that correctly in the news?
[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Brandon Dixon mentioning these dock workers want 50% raises?
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_01]: What?
[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_01]: This is absolutely crazy.
[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and one of my frustrations, I talk about this all the time.
[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_01]: The government should not be in the business of choosing winners and losers.
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: They should not.
[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_01]: But unfortunately, this is the way big government works.
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: They pick and choose where they're going to intervene.
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And they pick and choose places where they're going to leave things alone.
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Case in point.
[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Why are they leaving this situation alone with the dock workers?
[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Because they're union workers.
[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And they hope that they loot these companies for all they can get.
[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: They're on the side.
[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: They've picked a side.
[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty clear what the side is.
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not telling you I'm against these dock workers.
[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying that in general, the federal government, I just stay out of these things.
[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I was describing to you some days ago with the situation, with spirit airlines,
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_01]: when they were attempting a merger, federal government got involved.
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is going to destroy competition.
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So now you've got spirit airlines on life support.
[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_01]: If we have time, we'll talk about what's happening there because I think they are losing some of their service here in Charlotte as a result.
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_01]: What does that do for competition?
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You nitwits in the nation's capital?
[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So they're going to interfere.
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to pick and choose places where they're going to interfere with the free market.
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And the results are sometimes you use the power of government and it ends up destroying.
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_01]: But I'll get off my soapbox on this one.
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It just annoys me how selective and arbitrary our government is when it comes to these matters.
[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_01]: All right, before we go into other things, let's talk about transformation Tuesday.
[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a couple of quick items for you that I think you will appreciate.
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_01]: My friend Lauren posted something that I thought was very, let's just say provocative.
[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's what he posted on social media.
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: This thought came to me yesterday being saved isn't just about me being saved from hell.
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It's about me being saved from making your life hell.
[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the mark of a true follower of Christ.
[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that clever?
[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_01]: There's something to this.
[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Being saved isn't just about me being saved from hell.
[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It's about me being saved from making your life hell.
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the mark of a follower of Christ.
[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so frustrating to see so many professed believers with what amounts to no self-awareness.
[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Apparently no self-awareness.
[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: The entire focus is on God blessing me and that's really what it's all about.
[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Me, me, me, me, me.
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not exactly authentic Christianity when you're focused on yourself.
[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_01]: There's another post and I'm looking for this because a good friend of mine posted this
[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and I thought it was really an excellent observation.
[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's see if I can get to it quickly.
[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is good.
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Unforgiveness.
[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'll stop here because I save so many things that honestly I will never get to on this program.
[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: It's really that simple.
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I was about to say I don't know how to deal with that.
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But get a little of this quote from Max Lakato.
[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: The key to forgiving others is to stop focusing on what they did to you and start focusing on what God did for you.
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh.
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that powerful?
[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, how many times our human nature is we want to keep talking and talking and talking and talking up what somebody else did to us.
[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And how horrible it was.
[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you understood how horrible this, what this person said to me, you can understand.
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_01]: What?
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm in trouble forgiving.
[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and I'm not downplaying genuine hurt and genuine things that happen that are horrible.
[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: But let me repeat this again.
[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: The key to forgiving others is to stop focusing on what they did to you and start focusing on what God did for you.
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Trying to remember.
[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I think this is in Matthew 18.
[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a story about the unjust steward.
[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that who it is?
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a story essentially of God forgiving this guy a whole, whole lot.
[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he goes out after being forgiven by his master.
[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_01]: He goes out and he tries to beat down a friend of his for a nickel and dime grudge.
[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus was showing us this is what we do as human beings.
[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_01]: We have a great debt to our Father in heaven.
[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And yet, even as he offers forgiveness, we turn right around.
[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And we want to exact revenge.
[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm talking to you.
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking to me.
[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_01]: We need to be people of forgiveness.
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But it starts with being forgiven by God and having a relationship with him once we are forgiven by him.
[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_01]: That empowers us.
[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's really key because that's what the gospel is about.
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not about principles and ideas and values and all this other, you know, candy cane stuff that you hear a good part of the time.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_01]: It's about the power to live the life because without the power, you have nothing without the indwelling Christ in your life.
[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_01]: All of these things that God calls us to are going to be elusive because if we could do it on our own, we wouldn't need him.
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Right?
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Very simple.
[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I told you those things would be helpful.
[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to briefly comment about Pete Rose.
[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Major League Baseball announcing yesterday evening the passing of Pete Rose.
[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Can you believe he was 83 years old?
[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Major League Baseball's hit king passed away at his home in Las Vegas.
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_01]: He was found by a family member, the family asking for privacy.
[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The cause of death unclear.
[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_01]: There will be an autopsy to determine.
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Rose was in a wheelchair.
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_01]: He appeared to be in good spirits recently, continuing to sign autographs and take photos with many fans out there.
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Rose even took a picture along Big Red Machine teammates Dave Concepcion, George Foster, Tony Perez and Ken Griffey Jr.
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_01]: His nickname was Charlie Hussle.
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_01]: For his tenacious play, one of the greatest baseball players to ever grace a diamond, earning 17 all-star game nods,
[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: winning three World Series titles and the 1973 National League MVP.
[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_01]: No player in the 100-plus year history of Major League Baseball had more hits than Pete.
[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_01]: 4256 hits over his 24-season career.
[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Also led the Major League Baseball in games played 3562 at bats, 15,890 played appearances, 14,053
[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was versatile on the field playing first base, second base, third base and the outfield.
[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Playing the majority of his legendary career with Cincinnati Reds also played for the Phillies, the Expos before returning to SINSEE.
[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Finishing his career as a player manager.
[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You know about the controversy.
[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Ban from baseball for betting on baseball and ultimately he admitted to it in the mid-2000s
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and this lifetime ban would end up being in place and as a result the ban has never been lifted.
[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's never listed, never lifted so people now wondering will he have a rightful place in Cooperstown?
[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the question.
[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll just mention briefly growing up in Indianapolis that was our team, the Reds
[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and it was cool to listen to those games on the radio growing up as a young kid.
[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The big red machine, I remember that so well but we say adios to Pete Rose passing away at the age of 83.
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go on to a call from Frank. Good morning, Frank and welcome.
[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, Vince. How are you bud?
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: All right, sir.
[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Good. I'm from a little town up in eastern Kentucky by the name of Jackson.
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure you probably know about that.
[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yes, I'm familiar with Jackson.
[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_04]: There's flooding going on in North Carolina. Folks see this and I know they know it's bad.
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_04]: But unless you live through this, you have no idea what they go through.
[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And my only point is this is going to be a continuance.
[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_04]: I hope people keep supplying them with their needs because this stuff goes on for years.
[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And a lot of them that do have homes standing, they think that they're going to get to go back home only to find out they've been condemned.
[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_04]: And this happened up.
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_04]: This just brings back a lot of memories.
[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_01]: It's okay. Take your time, man.
[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_04]: But this is going to go on for a long time, Vince.
[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_04]: And I know, I thought if I was canned health, but the ones that can, I just hope they don't do one time and just quit.
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Because these people are going to flip.
[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_04]: They're going to suffer for a long time.
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I hear you. I fully understand.
[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you say that you still live in that area in Kentucky where this was in the past?
[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't live there now, but I had, I lived there growing up and I saw many floods come through the mountains.
[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I remember those.
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_04]: And the ones that hit in 21 and 22, a lot of my relatives lost everything they had.
[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_04]: People lived in their homes for 50 years and it's all gone.
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's devastating.
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_04]: But it just brought back so many really terrible memories.
[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_04]: And like I said, what they see on TV, they think it's just awful.
[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_04]: But unless you've been there, you don't really grasp the whole picture.
[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_04]: They need your prayers and they need your generosity.
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Continual faithful support is what you're talking about.
[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I so appreciate your call.
[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I really do.
[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Frank, thank you for calling and please do call again.
[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And especially if you see this fading from our minds and from our hearts, we need reminders sometimes.
[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So thank you very much for your call.
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember some of those floods.
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember one of my memories from back in Kentucky.
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I was in college at the time and I had a classmate.
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He, I remember one day he came to class and that morning I had learned that his grandfather,
[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_01]: who was a former governor of Kentucky, had died in a flood.
[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_01]: He was just driving, I think driving to or from his home and ended up being swept away by floodwaters.
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Just horrible.
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And I know that was devastating for my friend back in college.
[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And it again, just another example, these kinds of things affect everybody from every walk of life.
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And the point Frank has made is one which is very important.
[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's not forget, let's not keep a focus on this today, tomorrow, this week and then we move on to other things.
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's check in.
[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's make sure that they're getting the help that they need, especially from our government.
[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean these are our tax dollars.
[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So let's make sure that they are not forgotten.
[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go out to a call.
[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe this is DW.
[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Good morning and welcome DW.
[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Hello.
[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, sir.
[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It's all you.
[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Hi.
[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you very much.
[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I was reflecting on the situation in the mountains.
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think it's more than a natural disaster.
[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_03]: This is actually because of its extensive damage and leaving people homeless.
[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_03]: This is really a refugee crisis.
[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that because of that, the federal government as well as the state government has to treat it as such.
[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_03]: And they have to treat these people the way they're treating the people that are coming over the border in Mexico.
[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_03]: They should shut down the border for now because we've got to take care of these people.
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_03]: These are our people.
[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_03]: And I can't believe Trump is out there doing what he's doing and Biden is just sort of hanging out and the other one, whatever Kamala is doing, just virtually nothing.
[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_03]: But these people are our people.
[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_03]: They're our family.
[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_03]: They need to be helped.
[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're the ones that need to get the $4,500 debit cards to help them get back on their feet.
[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm looking at the mountain there and Chimney Rock.
[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Those people, they've got nothing left. Nothing.
[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_03]: What are they going to do?
[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_03]: What do you do when you walk out and all you see is ruin, disaster?
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_03]: There's nothing you can do.
[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_03]: You want to just sit down maybe just forget life.
[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_03]: We have something that we have to do.
[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And all I can say is that my government right now just disgusts me.
[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_03]: They are doing nothing.
[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all I have to say, Vince.
[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you so much for your show.
[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for your faith.
[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And thank you for what you do.
[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate that DW.
[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks a lot for your call.
[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I would just say especially of the state and local folks that I'm hearing about,
[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_01]: especially with so many volunteers out there.
[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_01]: They are working their rear ends off.
[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_01]: They really are.
[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think you know that as it relates to the federal government,
[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I've come to the place that I limit my expectations.
[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's appropriate because I think the bigger this government gets,
[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_01]: the more incompetent and the less helpful they are.
[00:45:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, this is really not the kind of thing the federal government does well.
[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I think back to was it the great Chicago fire?
[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_01]: That city recovered without help from the federal government at all.
[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So first and foremost, I think we have to be reminded at times like this,
[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_01]: the importance of having each other.
[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And we've got to walk that out.
[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what do we do?
[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And the call we had earlier reminding us not to forget about these folks.
[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So we don't have this hyper focus on this now.
[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And then a few days from now, I will forget we'll move on to the next shiny object or next crisis.
[00:46:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's remember the long term help these folks are going to need for things to get back to some semblance of normal over on email in reference to Pete Rose.
[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Now there's a bet on every pitch, run and nuance of the game.
[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, isn't it ironic?
[00:46:54] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of players have done a lot worse than Pete Rose.
[00:46:57] [SPEAKER_01]: He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Russell writes in about the dock workers and a couple of people have sent this in.
[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_01]: The dock workers union rejected the 50% raise over five years offer they had.
[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_01]: They're holding out for 77% over six years.
[00:47:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I stand corrected.
[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_01]: How many of you would like to have raises like this?
[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_01]: My goodness.
[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, hey, if you can pull it off, good luck.
[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Good luck.
[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's absolutely crazy.
[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Quick items on the war some headlines from Drudge.
[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_01]: The Pentagon prepares for drone on drone battles at military bases.
[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Talk about high tech positioning forces in the Middle East to deter Iranian attack.
[00:47:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that going to work?
[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're going to know very soon.
[00:47:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Aren't we story about the terrorist leader Nasrallah suffocated in agony from toxic fumes.
[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Netanyahu, the Iran regime change will come sooner than you think.
[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And this story according to Ahmadinejad, the massage infiltrated an intel unit.
[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is what they do and they do it very, very well.
[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_01]: One other quick item before we continue.
[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, when we come back, you're going to hear some interesting audio for one from Hillary Clinton.
[00:48:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, she's still around.
[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And you also hear more from Jesse Kelly.
[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Some interesting insights on what's going on with our country and with the presidential pursuit of Kamala Harris.
[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_01]: But first, Mark Robinson according to CNN.
[00:49:07] [SPEAKER_01]: This could be a devastating story.
[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_01]: CNN reported last week on North Carolina Republican group and editorial nominee Mark Robinson making inflammatory and racist remarks on a porn websites message board.
[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Now they have polling data measuring the potential impact of that investigation on the race.
[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Robinson looks like he may suffer the largest defeat in more than 40 years for major party nominee for governor in North Carolina.
[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_01]: The CNN SSRS poll puts Democrat Josh Stein at 53% to Robinson's 36% among likely Tarheel state voters.
[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_01]: This came after the publication of that story.
[00:49:53] [SPEAKER_01]: 17 point advantage larger than is lead in any poll taken this year.
[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Significantly larger than the 11 and 10 point margins that Stein had in surveys from earlier this month.
[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So unless something changes in a significant way, this is going to be a beatdown on election day.
[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_01]: There's really no kind way to put it.
[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Final stretch of the Vince Cochlear radio program on this Tuesday.
[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go out to a call from Don.
[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Good morning. Welcome Don.
[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey Vince.
[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_02]: We were talking about this in a Bible study last night and it came up that what's going to happen with the voter situation up in the mountains and the areas
[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_02]: South Carolina and Georgia that were impacted by this because a lot of this area, of course I know what's over kind of used to be heavy Democrat
[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_02]: but a lot of this area is Trump country.
[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_02]: How well what's the board of elections going to do to help rectify everybody gets to vote?
[00:50:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting. So what impact do you think this will have?
[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to be detrimental because based on what you said previously taking that into account the federal government,
[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think in the North Carolina board of elections being heavily Democrat controlled.
[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's going to be a lot of activity as far as making sure people can vote.
[00:51:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I know food and water shelter is the main criteria but there's a lot of people that would still be able to vote if the polling places were open
[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_02]: and things were available so that they could get there.
[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_01]: So you have a concern just about accessibility. That's a big concern of yours?
[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes sir. That is tremendous.
[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I know there's a lot of factors involved but they just everybody like I know it's a minor thing at this point
[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_02]: but it is a critical situation because it would affect the election particularly in North Carolina.
[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I certainly understand what you're saying here and I will tell you this.
[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_01]: These are folks who desperately need North Carolina and I can tell you this.
[00:52:12] [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to make sure that they do everything they can at least to look like they care about the folks who are in this area.
[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, North Carolina is it's a must win. An absolute must win.
[00:52:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, you're going to see a lot of political posturing.
[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of political posturing associated with what is taking place.
[00:52:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Time-wise let's go to an appearance by Hillary Rodham Clinton on Firing Line.
[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_01]: This is a broadcast with Margaret Hoover and it's kind of interesting that we're getting the same thing.
[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Same, same song and dance and keep in mind you guys know if you're within the sound of my voice
[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_01]: you are fully aware of what's going on with mainstream media in terms of who's side they're on.
[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no question about it. It's not even close.
[00:53:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But for Hillary Clinton the mainstream news media apparently is not doing enough.
[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_01]: We have a couple of clips here from this interview. The first thing she says is she talks about the importance of the media
[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_01]: warning about that dangerous guy Donald Trump. Listen up.
[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_00]: The press that's not supporting Trump blatantly, very persistently.
[00:53:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The press that's trying to be the press, be objectives, be reporting the facts.
[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_00]: The press needs a consistent narrative about the danger that Trump poses.
[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Because people may still look at the dangers. I don't care. It doesn't affect me.
[00:54:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to vote for X, Y or Z. But at least people need to be woken up and given the facts about what he has done, is saying and would do.
[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And I anticipate that something will happen in October as it always does.
[00:54:28] [SPEAKER_00]: The Russians, as I said earlier, are very active in this election.
[00:54:35] [SPEAKER_00]: We know the Iranians are active as well. Chinese use as TikTok or they certainly did against Biden and for Trump.
[00:54:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're a little less pro-Trump right now.
[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_00]: So you look at where people get their information and they get their information largely from social media.
[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_00]: And so the campaign is doing the best job it can to combat that.
[00:55:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Combat both domestic and foreign false disinformation.
[00:55:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I think is funny at the end? Fighting false disinformation.
[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, if it's disinformation, it's false. And if it's false, it's dis...
[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_01]: This is a double negative, folks. But anyway, who cares?
[00:55:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you have Hillary Clinton warning about what is ahead. What is ahead?
[00:55:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Could it be some new October surprise? Well, according to Hillary Clinton, yep, brace yourselves, folks. Here's Hillary again.
[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_00]: But I anticipate there will be a full-court press in October. The digital airwaves will be filled.
[00:55:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And why does that matter? Because the press that is pro-Trump anyway, oftentimes stories are put on digitally that then are picked up by, let's say, at Fox and others.
[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And then those stories are stories. So the mainstream press reports on them.
[00:56:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And so that story then takes on a life of its own. There will be concerted efforts to distort and pervert Kamala Harris who she is, what she stands for, what she's done.
[00:56:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look, I mean the crazy story about me running a child trafficking operation out of a basement at Bay Pizzeria.
[00:56:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't laugh. Don't laugh. It was a huge story. And it got one young man in North Carolina to get in his car with his, you know, assault rifle and drive up to liberate these non-existent children
[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and shoot up a pizzeria in Washington D.C. This is dangerous stuff. It starts online, off and on the dark web.
[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_00]: It migrates. It's picked up by the pro-Trump media. It's then reported on by everybody else, which makes sure it has about 100% coverage.
[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And people believe it. So I don't know what it's going to be, but it will be something and we'll have to work very, very hard to make sure that it is exposed as the lie that it is.
[00:57:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you mean dangerous stuff like talking about the threat to Republic that is Donald Trump, the, no, it's not even Republic, the threat to democracy.
[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, that certainly doesn't have anything to do with the fact that two people have tried to kill him. Your words, Miss Hillary Clinton, surely would not have an impact on something like that, would it?
[00:57:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, these people are such hypocrites. Hypocrits. This woman is the epitome of disinformation. Miss Hard Drive, my goodness.
[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I just thought you'd be entertained by the utterances of Miss Hillary Clinton. We're going to save the Jesse Kelly audio for tomorrow. It's really interesting stuff.
[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_01]: For right now, we have to go. Thank you very much for joining us on the broadcast today. Have yourselves an awesome day and God bless you. Adios.
