Lefties worry about Trump's changes to census counting | Hour 3

This episode is sponsored by Revelation Gold Group – A report in Politico shows Democrats' growing concern that changes to the way the US Census is conducted could harm their future electoral prospects. The Trump Administration is making rule changes to the Federal Register to stop counting illegal aliens in the 2030 Census. It's a lengthy process that would take a lot of time to reverse if Democrats win the presidency in 2028.

So Politico is a kind of worried and that's always a good thing. Um, Sorry, that's anyway, Politico is a little bit worried. And so they went to Democrats to to do the story of all of their shared worrying about the counting of the counting of the U.S. census in 2030. It's one of the things that I know as Americans, like we are impatient. We don't take the long view on, well, really anything. We don't. It's like we don't think in these terms why yesterday I tried to go over and explain how the stuff that we're looking at in this election is actually going to be impacting the 2028 election. Right. The National Popular Vote Compact, where they're trying to do an end run around the Electoral College. That's about the 28 election. OK, so the left, they have they have been, you know, working on this project for a very long time. And by necessity, they've had to because we were not founded as a leftist project, right? Our country was founded with free market principles, individual liberty, limited government, right? And these are all antithetical to the left. And so they have been working, you know, since Karl Marx wrote his satanic screeds, and they have been working towards, and they were, by the way, if you read his poetry, he loves Satan. Anyway, ever since then, this has been the project of the left is to convert this country. And not everybody who is a Democrat knows any of this. They don't think deeply about this stuff. They just know they've been told it's their civic duty to go out and vote. And that's the only part of that equation you ever hear is, oh, you got to vote. That's your civic duty. Yeah, that's just half of it, though. The first part is that you have to be an educated citizen. And I don't mean that you graduated high school or even worse, you went to college, right? No, that's not what an educated citizenry is. It's not what is meant when we talk about, you know, an educated citizenry in order to exercise the vote. It's not just graduating so you know algebra. Okay, well, that's actually not true because you graduate now and you don't know algebra. You don't even know how to read. Anyway, the point is that you understand the civics. Is it any wonder why civics education was slowly dismantled over multiple generations, right? You get rid of the history. You get rid of the civics. People then don't understand what made America exceptional. Exceptional as in we're going to do something different in this country than the historical norm. And lo and behold, boom, right? We have set the pace for the globe for the last 200 years, 250 years. People don't pay attention, though. And that is the way a lot of people in elected office prefer it. They just want you to go vote for them, right? Just turn out and vote. Just go vote. I'm not going to educate you on any of these issues because frankly, you don't care. And I don't care that you don't care. I just want you to vote for me. And then I'll make sure that I do things right. I'm looking out for you, you know, and you, okay, fine. Your life might get worse, but vote for me. I'm going to make it better. Oh, okay. He's going to make it better for me. And look, I have a slogan. Like Roy Cooper's make stuff cost less. Who could be against that? No, I want to run on a campaign of making stuff cost more. Like that's stupid. But if you don't have an educated citizenry that doesn't understand civics, doesn't understand the long game, doesn't know what the electoral college is, they think that, oh, did we play them in football this season? Right. Like that's that's what you have to overcome. And so you're trying to to convince people. to pay attention to this stuff that they don't want to pay attention to. They got TikTok videos to watch, right? And so that's why I go over this stuff because the 26th election will impact the 28th presidential election. And the 28th presidential election will impact the census. And the census is really the rub here. And that's why this administration has been trying to rework the way the census is conducted. Namely, stop counting illegal aliens. Because when you count illegal aliens in the population and those aliens cannot vote, you are diluting the votes of legal Americans, citizens. That's what you're doing. And in areas where you may have a high concentration of illegal aliens who cannot vote, but they are counted in the census, that area will then get congressional representation. But you won't have anybody there to vote out the member of Congress because they can't vote. It's like the perfect setup for maintaining power. You get a seat drawn for you, right? based on the number of people living there. And then a large portion of them can't vote for you or against you. So this is why this is important. And you have states that have higher concentrations, higher populations of illegal aliens. And those numbers, those population numbers, increase the number of seats that you get in the House of Representatives. that allows you to have majorities, right? This is what Democrats are doing. And time is running out on this. That's why it's like, if it seems like things are kind of getting really amped up, like this is part of the reason why. Democrats know this. That's why they're fighting all of the census stuff. That's why, like, this is the end of the game, basically, right? They have to prevent the census from, from excluding illegal aliens. They have to do this. Otherwise, they will lose. I've seen different estimates over the years, but it could be somewhere between 10 to 15, even as high as 20 congressional seats. And that means they won't get a majority. And that means then they can't effectuate any kind of legislation. So The Trump administration trying to push through the changes to the census has them very worried. So this story came from Politico earlier this month by Eliana Green. The next census determining America's political representation and billions of dollars in federal funding will take place after Donald Trump leaves the White House. But his administration is moving now to leave his mark on the count. Former Census Bureau officials and advocates critical of the Trump administration. Okay, so these are Trump haters, right? These are people that they don't like Donald Trump. They are critical of the Trump administration. That means they hate Trump. They are cautioning. Note the use of the adjective. They're not just saying, right? They're cautioning. So we can trust them because they're just putting out a caution to everybody. They're cautioning. that some of the changes being put into motion now by the agency could be difficult for a future administration to reverse in time for the 2030 count, right? So even if they win the White House in 2028, they are going to have very little time to orchestrate a reversal of the things that Trump is doing if he is successful in keeping them in place. So obviously brace yourself for lots of litigation. particularly Trump's attempts to remove undocumented immigrants from the total count. They have a quote from Tory Velkoff, who was formerly the chief demographer and associate director for demographic programs at the Census Bureau. And Tory says, quote, the census is a big, big boat. And if you suddenly want to make a left turn, it's hard to do that. Interesting that she chose left turn versus right turn. Yeah. So they are the Trump administration's proposing a rule to the Federal Register, which if implemented, if implemented, would overhaul the process for calculating who counts in the constitutionally required national census. To me, this is imperative. This is imperative. Because it's not just about the House seats either. The House seats, that number of House seats that are allocated or apportioned to a state, those House seats are also used to determine if electoral college votes. How many electoral college votes you get to elect a president. And remember yesterday's topic about the end run around the electoral college? Why do you think Democrats need to do that? All right, so from the Politico article, under the proposed rule to change to the rule to the Federal Register, and it takes a long time to do that process, and the idea here is that it would change the definition of a person's quote-unquote usual residence to remove undocumented immigrants from the count to determine political representation in Congress due to their, quote, lack of a sufficient tie and allegiance to the United States. Okay? The proposal could also extend beyond illegal aliens to leave out those whose legal status is less durable and indefinite than a green card. Depending on how the Bureau, the Census Bureau, defines illegal which immigration statuses qualify, some individuals who are legally living in the U.S. may be left out. And that's supposed to be scary. We're supposed to be, oh my gosh, no. Like, well, yes. If you are temporarily living here, right, that means that you're less durable and indefinite, right? So we don't know when you're going to be going back to your home country or You don't have any ties here, right? You've only been here a couple years. You're working on a work visa or something, right? No, you don't get counted. You can't vote, so you shouldn't be counted. Now, Trump's critics say they are preparing now for a legal battle on constitutional grounds. They argue that these changes are unconstitutional in practice and are, remember always, by the way, the Constitution is there for the left and The Constitution is there to restrain Republicans from doing anything. It is not there to restrain the left from doing anything. To the left, the Constitution is a living, breathing document that can be changed whenever they need it to be changed. However, they will cite the Constitution. They have this newfound respect and love for the Constitution whenever they can cite it in order to stop the right from doing anything. That's it. They argue that the changes are unconstitutional in practice and are awaiting the Census Bureau's next steps while exploring potential legal challenges if it moves forward. So here's a question. Should we be counting visitors? Tourists. Should we count tourists? Should we apportion congressional seats based on the number of tourists? Why not? They're here. If that's the only thing that is required is for their presence in the country, if that's what makes them countable, then why not count people who are here for a vacation? Okay, I'm not a monster, so let's go with a one-month vacation, right? So if somebody is vacationing in the States and they're here for a month, they're probably at an Airbnb that has an address, and so they should get counted, right? Why not? Oh, they're here temporarily. Right. But so are the people on work visas, student visas. They're here temporarily. Oh, but that's longer. Okay. So it's not a matter of the, it's not a question of their temporary status. It's a matter of what, how long the temporary status is. That determines whether we count them. So what you're arguing then, It's like the old axiom, we've already determined what you are. We're just haggling over price, right? So it's not a principled stand about temporary versus permanent. It's an argument about when temporary is no longer temporary. Temporary becomes something else. It's not permanent, but it's also not temporary, like a tourist. So it's only after a certain amount of time. So what, a year? You can be here a year and then you get counted in the census. Like, what's the what's the figure? Oh, well, they rented an apartment. Is that it? So if you sign a six month lease or a three month lease, that means now you get counted. Is that the deal? What if you sign a one month lease? Hmm. What if you what if you're going month to month on your lease? Do you not get counted anymore? See what I mean? Like this is you're opening up all of these different questions because you can't define temporary. You're trying to define it, but you can't because it's just an arbitrary figure. This is why you shouldn't count anybody that's not a citizen of the United States. That's what the purpose is supposed to be about, is to count the people who are Americans and participate in the governing of this project. All right, real quick. Every government number gets revised, right? Every projection gets walked back. Gold does not file corrections like GovCo. Or if you want to talk to somebody, you can call 888-465-3049. All right, from the text line, 704 number said, replacing Tom Tillis with Roy Cooper is a zero-sum gain. I disagree. How much worse than Tillis is Cooper? Very. I don't see a lot of daylight. Okay. Is this a bit? Is this a bit? Are you putting me on here? If you don't see a difference between Tillis and Cooper, then what are you looking at? I'm not saying Tom Tillis is fantastic. I'm not saying he's a great conservative champion and he's helped usher in all these conservative victories and been an ally for Trump and all of that. However, Tom Tillis... is a member of the Republican Party. And as such, he adds a seat in the U.S. Senate. As such, that helps give the Republicans a majority control of that body. As such, they are able to move votes, put things up for votes. They get to run the committees, right? All of that power that rests with the majority party in the Senate. That is dictated by the number of seats that a party controls. And so just giving away a seat to a Democrat means you empower them. And then they get to run the agenda. They get to kill votes or call votes. They get to issue subpoenas. They get to do impeachment. They get to do the investigations. You're empowering them. So even if Tom Tillis... was the worst Republican ever. He still, as a member of the Republican Party, he still helps the Republicans control that body. Now, maybe you don't think that's worth it. Maybe you want to burn it down and who cares? I would prefer not to empower a party that has gone so far to the left that they're electing literal socialists and self-avowed communists. Like, that's me. I would prefer not to empower a party that is welcoming a Muslim Brotherhood guy into their ranks. I would prefer not to empower the Red-Green Alliance. I would prefer to not be subjected to impeachments of all of the cabinet members, impeachments of the president again. Like, I would prefer not to empower that. But that's just me. Your mileage may vary. 704 number says if they get rid of the electoral college, the electoral votes, and therefore the census will be moot. Well, this is why they're attacking it from all of these different angles, right? Because if they. Like the the Electoral College is one or the national voter, national popular vote compact, interstate compact. That's one way to get at the federalist model, as we went over yesterday. Right. And the way and you have to do that and you've got to do it quickly because the fear here is that you're going to lose census counting. You're going to lose Electoral College votes. Right. And so the more states you can pile into this compact, if you lose the seats, you'll already have the states as part of the compact. And then the popular vote dictates. And then you probably see a lot more chicanery with illegals voting. We're not running out of bumper songs. We have a regular rotation. Thank you, David. Don't give them any ideas, Pete. They already have these ideas. I'm not. I'm not telling them anything they don't already know. Um, friend of mine once said, you don't have to explain anything you don't talk about. Seems to be the case as to why Ray Cooper won't hold a debate. Yes, exactly. Uh, Brenda says the reason reporters don't ask questions to Roy Cooper is because they. Know he won't answer. Uh, he is a joke and a jerk. Um, Jeff with a G says, when did we actually start counting non-citizens in the census anyway? The first time I heard the question come up, I just thought, duh, the whole idea just seems preposterous to me, but it's obvious why Democrats want it. This has been going on for like a century. So, yeah, it's been going on a very long time. So this is the way that the Trump administration is going to try to get around the Supreme Court ruling on the birthright citizenship thing, right? This is also part of that part of that effort. Another line from the Politico article, the census determines how federal dollars are spent and also how the House is apportioned, right? I already covered the apportionment part of it, but the federal dollars, right? That's a population-based formula. This is another reason Democrats are worried that if you stop counting illegal aliens, then they're not going to be getting as much federal funds, right? So what does that mean? It means cutting off the reward system that sanctuary cities and sanctuary states have been enjoying. That's the other part of this, is that. If you admit 10, 15, 20 million illegal aliens into the country, as Joe Biden did, and then you bolster your population counts. In cities, in congressional districts, and in states, you're now getting more money from the federal government. That's a reward system. It is rewarding cities and states that give sanctuary. Because then when you advertise that, like, don't worry, we'll never arrest you, we'll never deport you, we're not going to cooperate with ICE and all of that, message goes out, message received, illegal aliens go to your jurisdiction. You get more money. That is a reward, a reward for nullifying federal law, a reward for ignoring federal law. And so this would also eliminate that reward system, because now if you want to run a sanctuary city, you're going to have to pay for it yourself. Here's a quote from Jay Young, executive director of. The liberal-leaning good government group, or as I would define them, the leftist activist group, common cause. They're all over the place. Common cause. Even if the Democrats took over both chambers of Congress and the presidency, and they wanted to change everything that Trump had done before, they would not have time to fix a lot of this stuff. Because going through a rule change in the Federal Register takes a long time. And so that's what Trump has been doing. So they're going to try to slow it down through litigation first. He says, a lot of this stuff, it really takes a decade. The agency's proposed rule went beyond changing who was counted. It also suggested collecting less information on Americans as well. Talking about the census rule changes that the Trump administration has been putting through and has got a lot of people on the left worried because they're not going to count illegal aliens in the census count. It's going to impact the Electoral College. It's going to impact the number of House seats. It's going to impact the amount of federal funds. They also proposed removing questions about race and ethnicity on the short-form census, as well as other questions used in the census count, in addition to leaving out questions about sexual orientation. The rulemaking marks a major departure from Trump's first term, during which the Supreme Court struck down the administration's rushed bid to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. The reason the court struck that down at the time was because they didn't follow the proper procedures. So this time around, they are following the correct procedural path with the proposed new rule. So essentially, now they know how to follow the rules, and they're using that to get what they were trying to get in the first term. The constitutional text says person, persons, or a whole number of persons. It doesn't say citizens. This is going to be their argument. By law, the administration is supposed to submit broad plans for what is to be included on the census. They have to do that three years before the count. And final questions have to be done two years before the count. And both of those deadlines are within Trump's term. So this is the problem Democrats see on the horizon is that they're not going to be able to change these things unless somehow or another they get a court or multiple courts, right, to say that, oh, no, no, you can't ask those questions or you can't not count illegal aliens. After Trump's attempts to add a citizenship question were rejected by the Supreme Court in his first term, the administration tried various administrative means to try to break out undocumented immigrants. But the effort ultimately puttered out when the data could not be delivered before Joe Biden took office, because when he took office, his administration promptly killed off those efforts. Right. Why would you want to know how many illegal aliens are coming into the country? Well, when you plan to. Admit 10, 15, 20 million illegals into the country, you don't want people to know. You don't want that to be part of that count. Right. Yeah. Richard says, Pete, the person that needs to look in the mirror and realize what they have done to the Republican Party and democracy. is Trump himself as he ran off senators who were rhinos that would have helped him control the Senate and folks in the house of representatives who would have helped him keep that. He thought he was a King maker. It sure as hell ain't working out that way. Weak candidates have let the woke liberals in the door and we may not get them back out. Well, I mean, yes, um, there's a, that's a very good reason to stay home, Richard, stay home and do not vote for any more Republicans because Donald Trump, um, Right. He's going to live forever and be president forever. It's not like he's going to be out of office in another two years. So best to just. Surrender. Yeah. But I don't know how much clearer I can be on this. Like, I understand people want to they want to lay the blame on all these different people. You want to blame Trump. You want to blame the rhinos. You want to blame the media on. Blame, blame, blame, blame, blame. Right. OK, but OK, so. That's all looking backward. What are you going to look forward to? What's the path forward? This is what I call blackpilling, right? This is nihilism. All is lost. Nothing matters. It is a bleak way to live. So what are you. Going to do? What are you going to do to try to put better people into. Office, right? You're going to donate money to campaigns. You're going to volunteer on campaigns. You're going to volunteer to go work the election polls to make sure they're being run. Correctly, right? Are you going to come out in support of various policies and the like and assign your name to petitions or whatever it may be? Are you going to organize? Are you going to join the Republican Party to make sure that crazy people don't take over the party? These are all things that people can do. So I don't believe when I hear a lot of people that complain about this stuff, I don't believe that they're doing anything other than just complaining. And it's like this blackpilling is just a justification, a rationalization for surrender. And for laziness. That's what a lot of this stuff comes across to me as. But that's just me. All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening. I could not do the show without your support and the support of the businesses that advertise on the podcast.
