All righty, so just got through watching the live press conference that was held in Dallas, Texas. After I guess it was probably about three and a half hours ago, a shooter opened fire on an ice facility, killing two injuring a third before turning the gun on himself as agents approached the building upon the roof of which he took the shots. According to reports, there is at this point it's unconfirmed. I saw Carol Markowitz I think is her name, at the New York Post. She had gotten this from a source that the shooter has been identified as a twenty nine year old. And I don't name these people, so I mean obviously they've you know, they're going to be able to identify him. They have identified them, according to Markowitz's or Mankowitz Markowitz anyway, I closed out her tweet about the topic. At the press conference, they said that this was targeted violence and that bullets found on the rooftop. This was a picture that FBI Director Cash Patel tweeted out. There was a photo of I think about eight rounds and they had anti ICE messages written on the casings. Yeah, so we may never know what motivated this shooter. The three that were shot, well, two that were killed, one that was injured, were all ICE detainees. They were either I'm unclear if they were in a transport van and being unloaded, if they were outside of the van or what. Here's the associated press. Three people, including detainees, have been shot at an ICE Immigration Customs enforcement facility in Dallas, and the shooter is dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin later told Fox News no ICE agents were injured. The FBI said during a news conference that it was investigating the shooting as an act of targeted violence. Officers respond to a call to assist an officer on North Stemmens Freeway around six forty am Local time, and the preliminary investigation determined that a person opened fire at a government building from an adjacent building. Dallas Fire Rescue Department was also dispatched after a call reporting a shooting. Parkland Hospital received two patients from the shooting. The third person was dead at the scene. Dozens of emergency vehicles seen along the highway near the facility. It's along I thirty five east, just southwest of Dallas love Field, large commercial airports serving Dallas Fort Worth metro area. Traffic cameras near the scene showed six lanes of a normally busy freeway empty with cars in semi trailers ground to a halt on an interstate exit. At this point, they say motive remains unclear, because of course it does. We have I mean, this is just three hours, three and a half hours after the shooting, and so, as I do in all of these types of events, we should just wait a little bit. We don't need to rush in and make predictions and say, oh, I know what happened. I have a pretty look to me, like I have some ideas about what we just saw, too. I have some pretty solid guesses. I think that doesn't make them anything more than that they are guesses. I do note the silence coming from the experts in stochastic terrorism. This is not the first ICE facility that has been targeted. There was another shooting that occurred at a different ICE facility, I believe, yeah this one. So it is mentioned in the AP story that there was a July fourth attack at a Texas immigration detention center. It injured a police officer who was shot in the neck. Attackers dressed in black military style clothing who dresses like that, opened fire outside the Prairie Land Detention Center in Alvarado, which is southwest of Dallas. Eleven people charged in connection with that attack Antifa. They were ANTIFA. A man with an assault rifle fired dozens of rounds at federal agents as they were leaving a US Border Patrol facility in McCallan, Texas on July seventh. That man identified injured a police officer who responded to the scene before authority shot and killed him. So that guy's dead. That shooter was dead. Police later found weaponry, ammunition, and backpacks inside of his car. So the evidence that we know right now, the fact that somebody would gain access to a rooftop across the street or across a freeway, maybe from or an adjacent building at the least of an ICE facility and open fire on personnel at the facility. But more importantly, it's the writing on the bullet casings, making sure everybody knows why the assassin did this. They are opposed to ICE or were They were obviously not happy about immigration Customs Enforcement removing people from the country, and to show his contempt and disdain for ICE, he murdered two detainees to illegal immigrants injured a third. There was a piece at the Washington Examiner by John Schindler, and he served with the NSSAY, the National Security Agency, and as a senior intelligence analyst and a counterintelligence officer. He writes, I think it's a blog called twenty Committee, and I forget what the meaning of that is. But he had a write up at the Washington Examiner after, you know, Donald Trump announced the other day that he was going to designate Antifa as a what do they call it, like a dangerous terrorist organization or a major terrorist organization, something like that. And at the time when I relayed that information to you, I said, like, I'm not really sure what this designation means. Because there isn't an official designation that he is citing. And what Shindler is recommending is that Trump go ahead and name it as a foreign terrorist organization because that is what it is. And if you don't believe me, maybe you'll believe the European nations that have been banning Antifa in their countries because they know the history of Antifa. You may not the people who sign up for this and get radicalized by they may not, but the Europeans know, they remember what antifa is all about. So Shindler writes that much of this ideology falls under the rubric of antifa or quote anti fascism, a loose anti capitalist movement possessing cells against the West that agitates for quote unquote woke Bolshevism. There's a clue in there. It's not the woke word, it's the other one, Bolshevism. While it's increasing amalgamation with the extremist LGBT activists has been termed trantifa. The White House has already promised to ban Antifa as a terrorist organization, with the President castigating it as a terrorist group. Executing a ban presents legal challenges, though, although the government has banned certain foreign terrorist organizations since nineteen ninety seven, including Al Qaeda, Hamas Hezbala. The challenge is that, as the name implies, foreign terrorist organizations must be foreign. At present, there exists no mechanism to ban domestic groups that embrace violence to further their political aims. But what if Antifa is a foreign terrorist organization? And he says there's solid evidence for the assertion. So when I was a kid, my grandpa died with Alzheimer's, and before he died, my mom and my dad took care of him as he got worse. Forty years ago, there were no treatments and not much support for caregivers and family. But things are different today because of the work of so many people, including the Alzheimer's Association of Western Carolina. It's a great organization with awesome people with huge hearts. I've been a supporter for twenty five years. This cause means a lot to me. I participate in the annual Walk to end Alzheimer's and I'm leading a Charlotte team again this year, and it's called once Again Pete's Pack. We're closer than ever to stopping Alzheimer's. Can you help us get there? Will you walk with me? For a different future, for families, for more time for treatments. This is why we walk. Russ in a message on Twitter, says, the biggest problem with your wait a while approach Pete to these incidents is that it makes it so much harder to say, hey, this totally proves my preconceived notions when you have to make actual evidence support your claims. That's true, that's fair, that's true. However, on the upside, you don't get locked into a position before you know all the facts, right because like, for example, if I were to, I don't know, make a guess, if I were to articulate my guess, I'm going to say, radicalized leftist, twenty nine year old white dude, loser at life, hooked up to an online culture that told him his anger and rage directed outward at their perceived enemies, gave him the permission structure to go and try to kill a bunch of ICE agents. He is a terrible shot, missed and hit three illegal immigrants who were in the process of being deported, thereby murdering two and injuring a third the people that he was supposed to be protecting, once again proving he was a loser. So like that would be my guess. And if I were to take another guess at it, and again this is just coming from you know, twenty five years of experience in covering these types of events, I would have to guess that probably the permission structure that was erected over the last oh, I don't know, eight years or so about how ICE is a bunch of fascists, Gestapo Nazis. SS officers just following orders probably helped, you know, give him the assurances, the permission to go about this attack because he felt like everybody was encouraging him to do so and he would be remembered as a martyr for the court, for the cause just a guess. See, Now here's the thing. If I were to actually articulate this, if I were to say this, like on the radio or something, then if it came out that, you know, evidence presented otherwise it turned out he was not all of that stuff, and he was not radicalized, and he wasn't hooked up with these leftists online and stuff, then it would be you know, I'd have to admit that. Okay, I was wrong in my speculation in the immediate aftermath of the of the attack. But luckily I have not articulated this kind of a thing. I've not planted a flag here, you know, which brings me back to Antifa. On John Schindler's piece at the Washington Examiner, what if Antifa is a foreign terrorist organization? There's actually solid evidence for this assertion. Born in the nineteen thirties Germany on the orders of the fiery but mostly peaceful Joseph Stalin, did you know that about Antifa? On the orders of Stalin under the leadership of the German Communist Party, Antifa, in its DNA, is a violent revolutionary organization. With good reason. Berlin deems Antifa an extremist threat to democracy. Germany's domestic intelligence agency recently noted a sharp rise in Antifa related violence, observing that the potential threat posed by violent left wing extremism remains high. American liberals, including top Democrats, habitually pretend that Antifa is a myth or as Joe Biden called it, I believe it's an idea. It's just an idea. There's no organized group. It's not an organization. I mean, yes, fine, they have websites and Twitter handles, and they do meetups and print out materials and recruit people and give action plans and assemble and do direct action and dress alike and coordinate. But that doesn't make an organization. It's an idea. People. Yeah, Berlin, where Antifa was born, They're not so easily fooled by this crap. Okay, I'm not either. Anybody who has paid any attention to antifah and has done any modicum of research knows that it is in fact an organization. Just because some of the local cells aren't as organized as others doesn't make it just an idea. Right. This is not some myth cooked up by overheated Republican imaginations. Schindler says there are demonstrable connections between Antifa cells in the US and those in Western countries. Democrats have poo pooed Trump's push against Antifa as mere political theater, but multiple NATO partners agree with the White House. Hungary and the Netherlands are following Trump's lead, and other US allies are expected to do the same. Antifa is a transnational extremist group that endorses terrorism, and it's time we confronted it. I'm not gas lit on this. I refuse to be. Don't whiz on my boots and tell me it's raining. The financial and look, anybody who spends any bit of time in the political milieu up in Ashville knows Antifa exists. The financial dimension is key, however, because however much Antifa activists hate capitalism, the revolution requires cash. Oh irony of ironies, Trump has promised to pursue left wing donors, including famous ones like George and Alex Soros. That Alex is George's son who's taken over the criminal opera. I mean the organization even looking with looking at criminal charges under the RICO Act, the Racketeer, Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, which is employed by the FBI against gangsters, terrorists, and money launderers. RICO is a powerful tool for the Justice Department, but the drag net must be extended beyond just the Soroses. You have an entire web of NGOs that have been funding this stuff. See this is why Democrats want to just dismiss it as merely an idea. It's because they benefit from the radical street troops, the quote direct action, right. They benefit from the at least they think they did. They may not so much anymore. They may be waking up and realizing this is actually not helping us. There's convincing evidence. Also, get this that Cuban intelligence is materially supporting Trantifa radicalism in the US. That I did not know that, Schindler says. It's not surprising since Havana essentially created the Black Lives Matter movement a decade ago. One Utah trantifa extremist group called Armed Queer's Salt Lake City, which by the way, scrubbed its social media after the Kirk assassination, was openly affiliated with the Cuban regime, including its enthusiastic participation in Havana led activities known to be controlled by Cuban intelligence. I've said this for a while, the Left has a violence problem. Democrats need to police themselves. They need to expel these elements from their political party or they will go down with them. Let's jump over to the phones. We'll chat with Frank. Hello, Frank, welcome to the program. Hey man, Hey, how are you doing today? I'm all right. How are you so? I'm good? Good. So you know I'm a longtime listener. I don't call it a lot, but I called Vince a couple of times. We're good. It's not a contest, Frank, it's not a contest. You can call both of us. I know you all are beautiful. Hey, listen. Uh, you know they're gonna bust or Jimmy Kimmel's gonna bust this person for being such a big as shot, so he must be on our shot. Oh well yeah, I mean they could make that argument or something. Yeah, I don't know. I doubt they'll even pay any attention to crazy. It's so crazy. Yeah. I think the information that has come out so quickly about the messages that were written on the bullets, I'm thinking it's going to short circuit any kind of preempt preemptive sort of offensive from the left on. The exactly because antifa means anti fata or anti fascists, whatever you want. To call it, it's all hate. So we're going to leave it that way and we'll take care of the hate. Thank you sir. All right, Frank, I appreciate the call. Yeah, I mean it's it's there is always a race to set in place the narrative. And this is why you ended up with Jimmy Kimmel, as Frank just mentioned him saying what he said a week ago that got him indefinitely suspended for five days, which back in my day, an indefinite suspension lasted more than half a scaramoucci. But whatever, I know, I'm old, I guess. But antifa is a thing. It is an organization. They do organize, They have meetings, they do planning stuff. They give each other tips, and they share strategies and tactics and calls to arms and such. And when you have an institutional media apparatus that amplifies things like this. The accusation that Ice used a five year old girl as bait in order to capture a criminal illegal alien, and that wasn't true, but NBC News reported it is true. And what the actual story, according to Homeland Security, was that the criminal illegal alien was the target of an operation with previous arrests for domestic abuse, strangulation, vandalizing property, and he abandoned his own child in the car. The kid was not used as bait. The guy left the kid, left the baby, and ran out of the car. He was from Guatemala. He ignored law enforcement emergency lights darted inside of his house, abandoning his five year old daughter in the car. Officers helped rescue the child and called local police to report the abandonment. But the way NBC News reported it, headline ice held five year old autistic girl in Massachusetts to pressure father to surrender, according to his family, and then a day later you get an attack on an ICE facility. Back to the John Schindler piece at the Washington Examiner, he says it is best to think of ANTIFA as the armed wing of the Democratic Socialists of America, the left wing group that's successfully taken over much of the Democrat Party. The time to confront this difficult reality is now. The Trump administration must declare Antifa a foreign terrorist organization, cutting off its funding at home and abroad via sanctions before this crisis gets worse. May jump over to the WBT text line Driven by Liberty Buick gmc anonymous says, does anybody remember Occupy Wall Street whatever happened to them? Well, yeah, it's the same. It's what we're seeing was just a different iteration of that same ideology, right, the tenttifada that occurred on the college campuses against Israel, you know, the you know, pro Hamas Holais and such. The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution, right, and so that's why it's like they just swap out whatever the issue of the day is because it doesn't matter. The issue is actually the revolution. That's why Antifa with roots and communists Russia, right, that's why they lend themselves their services to whatever the what Ben Shapiro calls the omni cause, just you know, whatever they need to protest. They're down with Black Lives Matter, We're there, Queers for Palestine, We're totally there. Doesn't because it doesn't matter. The only point is to sow chaos and tear down Western civilization and the evil capitalist society and replace it with the utopia. Mark says, all protests seem to be organized. I say, we need to follow the money. George s I'm sure they can show that he funded a lot of organizations for protesters. They could charge him with RICO. A lot of the protests are violent. Rico would be perfect for charging him. Joseph says, if we went broken windows and locked them up for attacking government facilities or assaulting federal agents, we wouldn't have to wait until they started shooting. The same people protesting ice facilities are the same ones who rioted in twenty twenty, and are the same ones who attacked Atlanta's Cop City and then assassinated Charlie Kirk. They're all the same. So it's funny you mentioned the broken windows idea because I came across a piece I had it in the show prep stack for today. It's over at the Civitas Institute Civitas Institute dot org, written by tal Fort Gang who who is a legal policy fellow at the Manhattan Institute, and the headline is the broken Windows in American higher education. But it does have a more far reaching impact than just the university. You know. Stories are powerful. They help us make sense of things, to understand experiences. Visit creative video dot com. Talford Gang at Civitasinstitute dot org writing that a little known Jewish sage called ben assea as i anyway, he challenged his students in a message memorialized in the Ancient Ethical Guide known as something I cannot pronounce per ki avot anyway. He said, be quick in performing a minor commandment, as in the case of a major one. Fallible human beings cannot know which obligations are small and which are large, both in God's eyes and in the greater scheme of human events. What appears trivial may hold a community together. What seems like a minor failure may open the way to collapse. The sociologists James Q. Wilson and George Kelling gave that ancient lesson a modern expression in their famous yet widely misunderstood nineteen eighty two article Broken Windows. They argued that small signs of disorder, like graffiti, vandalism, public intoxication, those small signs signal a lack of enforcement, which in turn invites greater violations. When norms are not upheld, the boundaries of acceptable behavior blur, and soon serious crime follows. Many commentators have noted that the assassination of Charlie Kirk is a massive escalation in our simmering culture war and another in a rapidly growing pattern of political violence. But because the escalation was so enormous, many have lost sight of the fact that his murder is also the last of a pattern of lawless attempts to prevent Kirk and similar figures from sharing their mesas messages. In that light, it is a stark demonstration of the broken windows principle. Kirk had a long record of making appearances in contentious settings. He had been targeted with hostility for years. His events drew heckling and organized attempts to shut him down. His organization regularly had its campus booths defaced, ambassadors harassed, and events canceled because the university could not guarantee security. Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA were hardly the first to suffer such mistreatment on campus. Charles Murray, Alison Stanger, David Horowitz, and Colter Bill Crystal EO. Wilson. I would add Ben Shapiro, dozens of Israeli diplomats can all attest to the harassment and violence that heterodox speakers endured. None of those acts of opposition was ever acceptable, but they were accepted rarely, if ever, faced expulsion or social sanction. I've been talking about this for a while. This is the permission structure that has been built up over years. He points out in this piece that the guilt obviously belongs to Charlie Kirk's killer, but it would also be willful blindness to fail to note that this was yet another attempt to shut him up. And some significant portion of a portion of young people think that violence is an acceptable means to do so when more common forms of lawless disruption fail. A college that tolerates harassment signals to students that harassment is within the bounds of acceptable behavior. A university that treats vandalism as minor signals that property rights are not worth defending. Over time, students learn that certain rules are not enforced. That knowledge then alters their expectations, but more importantly, it molds their character. It frames the moral universe they inhabit. See rules, whether they are imposed by law or the Office of Student Life, rules are formative. They teach us what is expected of us. A well run institution does not simply prohibit extremes of behavior. It inculcates habits of self control, restraint, mutual respect. When administrators fail to enforce those rules, institutions fail in their formative role because they fail to communicate that they think living by the rules really matters, that being the kind of person that the rules expect is really any better than being the kind that flouts expectations. They do not produce responsible citizens, but permissive ones who assume norms are optional. This is exactly the same problem. Writ large. It's not just on the college CAMPI, it's through society, it is through our criminal justice system. In the next hour, I'm going to get into the debate that occurred in the North Carolina House over Arena's Law, named after Arena Zarutzka. Right, The shards of broken windows are also present in the cycle of demonstrations and doubtrage since October seventh, twenty twenty three. Occupations of administrative offices, vandalism of buildings, disruptions of lectures, harassment of faculty members. These are all violations of school rules, and they have been met with little more than slaps on the wrist. Students student groups vow then to escalate. They know full well that the rules are optional. What constrains them? What distinctions do they make between breaking rules, destroying your property, or destroying your body? Right? Hopefully it's something more than an internal moral code, because like they say that violence against political opponents is acceptable, So we can't trust that moral code. Broken windows at a societal scale, all right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
