So Last hour, I got a text from a 704 number talking about the gas prices. And just to reset, just to reset, I am not arguing that any one thing is responsible for the election results that we saw. It was a culmination, in my view, in my opinion, it's a culmination of a lot of things. Different things, different groups of people, demographic shifts and such. Right. Anger among the Democrats that's been boiling for a decade. Right. So there's there are a lot of components. And so like people who come forward and say, you know, it was the Iran war, not the tariffs, or it was the tariffs, not the Iran war or gas prices. Right. I reject the false choices. Because I don't think it's an either or I think it's an and. Both or both and right. So, this text, I carried it over to this here. Oh, this is from Tom. Oh, hang on. Let's add Tom's name into the contact field. Tom. Boom. All right, Tom, you are now identified on the text line. Tom says... A dollar in 1967 is about $ 10. 70 today. So gas is about right. People grumble, but pay $ 12 to $ 15 for a burger. My mom and aunts did their own nails. Men's haircuts were $ 1. 50, now $ 25. Higher education, health services, and construction are the problem. All heavily involved with the government. Until Starbucks, nail salons, and restaurants start shutting their doors, I can't drum up much sympathy for the affordability cause. Our fathers and grandfathers sacrificed tremendously in World War II to save the world. We should do the same to deal with Iran. America sadly has gone soft. Okay. On the gas price argument, I have not been the softest shoulder to cry on when it comes to when it comes to this argument, okay? I've had arguments, I've had debates with people about this, that if your sole motivation for either sitting home during the election or voting straight Democrat on the ticket or whatever was because of gas prices, I'm going to be honest, I think you behaved foolishly. I do. I'm not saying you're stupid. I'm just saying you behaved foolishly. Okay? Number one reason, the people that are now empowered do not believe in lower gas prices for you. Everything that they have done for decades has been actually to increase the price of gas and fossil fuels in general. So empowering them is not going to likely lead to a reduction in your gas bill. for obvious reasons, right? Number one. Number two, the reason why the gas prices and people have been, you know, why are they so high in all of this? And the Iran war drove up the gas price and all that, right? We were told that gas was going to, the barrel of oil was going to go to $ 200, $ 250 or something. Never did. And when you look historically at the price of a barrel of oil and you look at, like, the amount of money, like there's a built-in sort of Iran surcharge because the market prices that risk. It always has. And we talked about this when, you know, when we hit Iran and then Iran's like, we're closing the Strait of Hormuz and all this. By the way, the Strait's been open. We've been moving oil through there. We're now pre-war levels of oil going through. You don't hear about it anymore. You know things are going well when you don't hear about it anymore. We don't hear about the Strait of Hormuz. That was, everybody was talking about that three months ago. Nobody's talking about it now, now that the amount of oil flowing through the region is back to pre-war level. Nobody cares. It's not helpful. Oh, also I saw, where was it? Yeah, here we go. I'm pleased to report that the economy is good now. Democrats won, so the economy is doing really well. This from the Associated Press. U.S. Jobs market bounced back last month from a disappointing September. Layoffs are low, and most Americans enjoy unusual job security. U.S. Employers created a surprising 165,000 new jobs in October. Unemployment rate dipped to 4.1%, which is basically full employment amazing what one election can do like i mean the economy is going to be roaring as soon as democrats actually get sworn in at least according to the media i'm assuming david asman writing over at fox news pointing out the incredible irony of this election is that Democrats won largely on the issue of higher gas prices when those same Democrats have done everything they can to raise gas prices when they're in power. The first executive order that President Joe Biden signed, do you remember what it was? The very first executive order he did? It was to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline. That was a 1,200-mile-long pipeline, and that would have brought somewhere in the neighborhood of 830,000 barrels of Canadian oil every day to U.S. refineries. The U.S. Gulf Coast refineries that the Keystone Pipeline would have served are built and optimized to process Canada's heavy, sour, crude oils. They make it into high volumes of, you want to guess what kind of fuel? You want to guess? Take a guess. diesel, and jet fuel. That's what Joe Biden vetoed. That's the kind of fuel that we are in most need of right now. But we don't have the pipeline to move 830,000 barrels of oil down to those refineries, which are running at capacity because Democrats have blocked all new refinery construction. In fact, they're closing refineries. The last refinery, I believe, just closed in California. Right? So, They have been constraining supply. They have been raising the prices on all of these fossil fuels. They have been blocking distribution systems like the Keystone Pipeline. February 24th, 2015, President Barack Obama vetoed the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act, which was passed by Congress, right? Obama vetoed it. Trump came in, green-lighted it, green-lit it, And Biden came in and killed it. But they're going to lower your gas prices. How about the electric vehicle mandate? Remember that? Under Joe Biden? General Motors absorbed $ 11 billion in losses and cancellation of its EV infrastructure plans. Ford took a $ 19. 5 billion electric vehicle right down. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal was basically shoehorned in parts into Biden's infamously named Inflation Reduction Act. I called it the Inflation Production Act. The act's multi-trillion dollar green energy spending boondoggle became a major factor in the Biden administration's 21.5% cumulative inflation, which is still part of the unaffordability crisis that Democrats now blame on Donald Trump. 21.5% cumulative inflation during Biden's presidency. They created the unaffordability crisis that they now campaigned on and are now going to solve? They're going to make stuff cost less, to quote Roy Cooper? Regarding the price of gas under Obama, it peaked at $ 4. 55 a gallon in some areas in May of 2011. If you adjust that for inflation, that would be $ 6. 78 a gallon. Under Biden, it peaked at $ 5. 03. That would be $ 5. 79 a gallon. The highest spike under Trump, $ 4. 55. But gas prices, everybody. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was gas prices. I've got a bunch of other data here about the, uh, about the shifts and the demographic changes in the, uh, uh, in the election cycle. Uh, but before I move on from the guests, let me, uh, go to Mark. Hello, Mark. Welcome to the show. Hi, Pete. Um, I wanted to bring up at least, um, you know, two, uh, three talking points here. All right. As long as they're fast, otherwise I'm going to limit you to one. Okay. They're fast. Okay. Our domestic, our domestic inventories of, of blends of gasoline are changed by annually. The, the, Non-summer blends, our inventories are being stocked up now, and then gas prices go up again to bring the summer blends online. We export the fall and winter blends year-round, and refineries are regularly scheduled intervals or taken offline for maintenance. The president had some things that are discussed by other talkers, and this would need to be explained before we even shot the first rocket missile launch. or the first plane went to air to attack Iran, and possibly the chambers of Congress would have been a toss-up on the 4th. I'm editing my own self today, Pete. Good job. Thank you for your time. Oh, all right. You got all three of them in? I got all three of them in. All right. Yeah, no. It sounded like you're suggesting that President Trump lacks message discipline on some of this stuff. Yes, he did. He did do that, yeah. Yes, and that's one of the things about Trump that everybody should know. Yeah, like he did not make the case very well. That's right, and also they needed to be, would not listen to his advisors, the rumor of having a war room starting at the PAC a lot earlier, like January 21st. of last year. Yeah. Well, I mean, my understanding is based on what I have, Oh, okay. Mark's gone. Um, my understanding is that, uh, the way it unfolded was that like Iran was approaching the point where they would have the, the shield of, you know, the drones and the long range missiles, they could hit Europe. They could maybe even hit American territory. Um, And at that point, then they were like, we're going to now, like we're, we're now racing the last mile to the nuclear weaponry. And that's why he moved when he did. Let me see here. This, so this is from, I have a couple of things here. Let's see. Where was the first one here? Okay. So Justin Hart at a publication called rational ground, he says, Who were the Republicans who voted Democratic this time? Not MAGA. About 9 in 10 of these people who were Republican voters who then voted Democrat, about 9 in 10 of them do not call themselves MAGA. Only 1% of MAGA Republicans crossed over compared to 15% of other Republicans. So this has always been the case since Donald Trump came down the escalator. There's always been a group of Republicans, we can call them sort of the Tom Tillis types, that loathe MAGA, that loathe Donald Trump. The voters that Trump won over in 2024, because they were not with him in 2020, he won them back in 2024. But then they left him. 18% of his voters under the age of 30, 13% of his Latino voters flipped. The Latino crossovers top issue? Not immigration. Barely even registered. No, no, it was cost of living. Oh, what about the Iran war, Pete? No. Among the Latino voters who crossed over, the Iran war was cited by 2%. That's what I mean. It depends on what group you're looking at as to what motivated them to leave Trump and the Republicans. Um. There was a, relatedly, I saw there was a clip from ABC News. I think it was Martha Raddatz, but I forget who it was. She was out in Texas, and she's doing an interview with a real estate developer, and this guy tells her that he voted Democrat, Republican real estate developer, and he voted Democrat because ICE deported his employees. who were illegal aliens. Like, see, this is why people in MAGA, conservatives and some Republicans, like people were saying, you need to go after the employers. You need to go after the employers. Mark Penn, he was the old Clinton pollster. Remember him? He said Hispanic voters were the key swing vote in 2024 and they swung back this year. Working class voters felt pinched by inflation and they blamed Trump for it rather than Biden. Why? According to the voters, tariffs. There was about a 10 point national swing from the Trump high watermark, which is 5% to change their mind. But that makes a huge difference. in the outcomes, right? So a 10-point swing among these voters. All right, real quick, every government number gets revised, right? Every projection gets walked back. Gold does not file corrections like GovCo. There is a link in the podcast description. Or if you want to talk to somebody, you can call 888-465-3049. 704 number says, I was listening to your breakdown of the why. And it brought up a discussion I had with a friend on Wednesday. You talked about losing young white males, born-again Christians, and the battle of messaging. Have you looked into this correlation to what I call the Insta-face-twit messaging war and how demoralizing the assassination of Charlie Kirk was to reach those young Christian males and energizing them? I mentioned a little bit about the collapse of evangelical Christians as part of this core voting bloc. Um, but I have been compiling stuff, what you're talking about, synthesizing the analysis and such. Um, we'll get to that next week. Uh, Charlie had mastered the social media messaging battle. The radical left has learned that they can go to any lengths as long as it, uh, progresses their cause, which is domination and power. They have convinced anyone who listens that the only solution is to destroy the opponent physically as well as emotionally. Any chance they get cancel culture, uh, may have been deserted, but I'm afraid it was replaced with scorched earth. Yeah, there was a demoralization campaign waged on the quote-unquote right, the new right, the alt-right, the woke right, the horseshoe right, post-liberal right, whatever you want to call them, right? In the wake of what should have been this moment after Charlie Kirk's assassination, what should have been this unifying thing. for everybody to get around we had a not small online influencer operation launched to rip apart the elements of the mega coalition that to me is very obvious very obvious and Um, John says was, Oh yeah. Susie Wiles is out. Uh, Stephen Miller is in, um, gas tax, a major factor that Dems will not lower. Yeah. When the gas tax comes back, uh, what do you think Democrats in the legislature are going to do with that? Um, Josh says it's amazing how the economy, uh, stunk on Tuesday, but Wednesday, it's the best thing happening. Isn't that amazing? I guess just because Democrats want... I mean, pay no attention to what the stock market did. That was a bloodbath when all these companies realized that Democrats are going to be attacking them criminally, as they've been promising. Why are gas prices still higher if the Strait is open? Eric, I have spent... I don't even know how many hours breaking down all of the factors involved in the price of oil, right? And if you are genuinely interested to know what goes into the price of a barrel of oil, I encourage you to research that. Or you can go back and listen to my podcast. Go to thepeatpod.com. You will see all of the episodes that I have done. You go to the website, type in a search for oil or gas or something like that. I have about three minutes here, and I'm not going to run through the entire oil refinery and production and capacity issues and the world markets and all of that stuff. I encourage you to research that. if you are actually asking the question because you want an answer, if you're asking the question as a substitute for making an assertion, I would encourage you to just make whatever assertion you want to make rather than put it in the form of a question, which I take generally, I try to deal with people as if they're asking me a question in good faith. Okay. Um, I don't understand why they get pipeline started again. Oh, the, yeah, the Keystone pipeline. I think, I think, I think, They're not. I think Keystone said they're not going to do it anymore. Same song and dance. The Democrat politicians prey on their voters, political and economic ignorance. Joe says your all things can be true. Thesis is correct. Thank you, Joe. Appreciate that. The common thread. is message and daily weekly message discipline. Democrats were successful running against themselves while Republicans failed to run on their successes because of message discipline. Yeah. That is, to me, that is a large problem. Obviously, there are actual factors and problems and issues and policies and all of that is true. However, Mark Penn, he says, Shifts among blacks, Hispanics, and young men, they all headed back to Democrats pretty much across the country, a 10 to 13 point shift. Democrats got their messages through and went on offense against the administration on inflation, healthcare, corruption, ICE. They had no actual programs. but the negative frame got through. Republicans had it all, but those in Congress had no real agenda of any substance that people could fight for or fight back with. The Republicans then largely played defense and had no offense. They stuck largely to a 2024 rhetoric. With the border closed, it did not answer the questions and issues that people had in 2026. president and VP led a big turnout operation. They got the vote out, but this was a swing election, and we learned these new groups were experimenting with the Republicans in 24, not adopting them for life. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, meaning people had high expectations in 24 and in 26, saw a divided country, and no matter how good the economic numbers may look compared to 2022, the They felt unhappy due to the cumulative effects of inflation and saw tariffs and other policies as working against them and not for them. The Dems won the message war and got their voters back. For now. For now. This is a little segment we like to call pre-gaming with Brett Winterbull. And it wouldn't be that segment without one Brett Winterbull. Yes. No more. No fewer. Thank you very much. One Brett Winterbull. Order up. I love being here on Fridays. Every Friday is a different thing. Yes. Every Friday is different. It is different. That's true. All right. So what do you want to see... the Senate do in the final month before we go full commie? You know what? I'm good for anything. Wow. I mean, I really am. That's a lot of latitude you're giving. Because yesterday, I blew my head off when I was talking about. Well, you look great. I know. But I was... Considering. I was doing... No head and all. I did a whole lot on the Blueys. The Blueys? The Blueys. Oh, the Blue Slips? No, the Blueys. The Blueys who were gloating with all of the stuff that was happening. And I said, well, listen, look at how far we are falling down. And that's a tough thing. So I'm sitting there and I had these people and they were panicked. And I want them to remain panicked because... we're going to get a lot, we're going to get a lot of smacking and that's going to be a tough thing. I think. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm, I'm, I'm for anything, right? Well, it's as they say, it's always darkest. Oh, it's before pitch black. It can get plenty darker than that. Yes. Well, I, I did an hour yesterday. People were accusing me of black pilling everyone when I was talking about the, the, uh, national popular vote interstate compact. Wow. You know what that's about, right? Yes. And, uh, the flippage of Pennsylvania state legislature, along with the one in Michigan and I believe Wisconsin, that now gives them the 270 votes. And so we may have seen the last presidential election. It's very possible. Decided by the electoral college. Very possible. And we are on the brink of World War VII. No, 12. 12. It would be 12 because we, Remember, according to Ilhan Omar, we had 11 already. That's right. We already had 11. So we're 12 this time. I forgot that. Yes, yes. So, yeah, so they're going to have– if they run those bills, Pennsylvania already ran the bill. It's sitting in one of their committees. So now with the Democrat trifecta there, they'll probably push that through like Virginia just did. And if you think about it, like North Carolina, we're literally one seat, one seat that Danny Britt is holding onto by like 280-something votes, whatever it is. from flipping, from giving North Carolina a trifecta. And they would then rapidly undo everything that the Republican-led legislature for the last 15 years has done to create the economic conditions in the state that are touted by guys like Josh Stein, governor, and now Senator Cooper. Like, they cited all of these... All of these metrics were number one for business. We were awesome. We're doing all these fantastic things like, and all of that stuff, all of it was Republican governance in the legislature. Yep. They're claiming credit for, well, look, that's you. Are we, are we shocked? Are we surprised? Are we, we knew this was coming. So do you think the Democrats overreach? Cause you know, every time. Yeah. A hundred percent. Okay. Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. then do they suffer ramifications? Well, you got 720 days till the next election. But who's counting? All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
