She is a reporter at the North State Journal ansjonline dot com, also the publisher of her Substack newsletter. More to the story, Ap, how are you today? I'm good, Pet, and I'm doing all right. So we've been talking about the whole, you know piece in the Middle East thing. Just any thoughts on that. Are you optimistic? Well, they've received all twenty of the living hostages back. It's waiting on the room of all the ones that died as a result of being taken hostage by Hamas. I'm not optimistic about that one that Hamas seems to have not been able to find where they put the body. Yeah, which is just horrifying. In and of itself. But I think this is this is a historic event. I mean, I don't know that. I don't know that. I in my lifetime, I can recall anything is momentous in terms of hostage releases, you know, going all the way back to when the Iran hostages were finally So this this is big. And uh, you know the Trump administration credit, where's credits due? You know, they they've pulled this off. No, no, we're not allowed to do that. Ab We're not allowed to give Trump any bit of credit on this whatsoever anybody could have done. I saw also, I saw uh, Anthony Blinkeln, the former Secretary of State under Joe Biden, worthless guy, and he was he's saying, well, you know, basically, we negotiated this whole deal, and he just like took it off the shelf and and and adopted our plan or something like they're trying to claim though. At the twenty step plan that Trump put out is nothing even remotely close to what the Biden administration was talking about. Yeah, or you know, it was ultimately rejected before it was even put on the table, So. You know, yeah, it's just yeah, it's insanity. But I mean as I think I said earlier, and I think we all recognized, this is exactly what Hitler would do, you know, bring together all of these countries for a peace deal and connect them to its success to try to avoid war. That's totally what an Orange Hitler would do. So yeah, Babylon B had a headline Hitler Free the Juice. Oh nice, Oh that's classic Hitler frees the Jews. That's great record. So all right, so let's talk a little bit about a piece you've got up at your sub stack and more to the story headline, FBI drops Southern Poverty Loss and as partner. So first, what is the Southern Poverty Law Center? Who is this organization? Well, it goes way back to Silver, right, So they used attract you know, the KKK and that sort of think. That's sort of how they, you know, got their fame and fortune was tracking extremist groups, in particular white supremacists and the KKAK. But as that's that well sort of just started to dry up and white supremacists became few and far too far between the track, they started turning their eyes on anyone who is ideologically different than those on the progressive left. They've labeled, you know, organist churches and organizations that you know are just basically, you know, just Christian Christian denominations, and put them on their quote hate map, right, which has been a source of controversy for some time now. And you outline a couple of these organizations, Moms for Liberty, that terrorist organization. Uh, yeah, we know, Yeah, they landed on the hate map for what was you wrote here that they got labeled anti government general? So just a general anti government. Right, not specific policies pertaining to books and transgender policy. That's not at all what they were focused on, just in general. They were just anti government. They also put on the list Turning Point USA. Yep, just as past Spring. Totally hatefield. This is obviously why the left continues to call Turning Point, you know some hate bongerers and such. Now they did have historically, they had, and I think the Family Research Council, I think they're actually still on the hate map, even though. Even after they had that attempted terror attack at their offices by Floydlee Corkin's what was that back in. Yeah, like ten or fifteen years ago or something. Yeah, like the guy walked in and shot the place up killed a security guard. Yeah, because the I mean, like, who would do that? The Family Research Council, How would you even know this thing exists because it's like a it's a conservative like think tank, research firm or whatever. But they landed on that hate map, and this guy saw it and went in and tried to murder a bunch of the people there. He was intercepted by a security guard. If I recall who I think did get shot. Yeah, he got killed, correctly, but he stopped it. And he's brought Chick fil a sandwiches and to put on the dead bodies. That was part of this guy's point. I mean, wow, yeah. I did not know that. That's that's horrifying. And then you also had James Hodgkinson, which is always, for some reason left out of all discussions of left wing violence. For some reason, he was the guy that tried to assassinate like a third of the Republican delegation while they were practicing for a charity softball game. Yep, and this guy, so what was the connection? So do we know that at Hodgkinson was aware of the SPLC. He was, he had liked several of their fate He's following them on Facebook, like several other posts, including one that included the hate map I believe. Ah, okay, so that was how he was linked to. That a closer link than say, the guy Jared Lockner that went and tried to murder Gabby Giffords down in Arizona. We have a stronger connection of an actual visual graphic that was seen by the shooter that would have connected him to the target versus the Gabby Giffords attempted murder where there's no proof that Lackner ever even heard of the bullseye map that the Palin campaign had put up on a wall to target congressional distance. Yeah that was okay, yeah, never yet, no connection ever, but the left tried to make it such. In fact, just recently too, like within the last couple of years. I remember the New York Times in editorial cited the Gifford's attack as proof of right wing extremism based on that map. And it's like the guy never saw the map. He was he was a paranoid schizophrenic. He thought grammar was thought control, like he was insane anyway. So the Southern Poverty Law Center for people who are not aware they had what some sort of a relationship with the FBI. Yeah, it was sort of we don't know how far exactly it goes back, but there were documents that were dropped recently that showed that they had been offering basically tutoring and prompting FBI officials and others in the department with talking points so that they could go out and target certain groups. So it got kind of twist the inturney in there. But those documents were first unearthed by America First Legal and they have been looking into the Biden administration and their law enforcement priorities for quite some time, and they got these documents through Freedom of Information Act request which resulted in ultimately result in litigation against the Biden administration. And to quote the New York Posts who reported on this, so they said that by twenty twenty two, members of the Civil Rights Division were directly soliciting SPLC, which is a Southern poverty law center for civil rights issues. They should be quote tracking an inviting the group to attend quarterly to departmental meetings, and they were giving they were talking to the Biden DJ and got exclusive access to federal hate crime databases in order to quotet help craft talking points for the DJ and going after these organizations. And I mean, we had all those congressional hearings about the targeting of Catholic charities and Catholic institutions and Catholics in general. So one has to wonder if if all this wasn't tied to SPLC's activities behind the scenes. Well, sure, yeah, you think so. You know, also going after parents. Right school, anybody that spoke at like school board meetings or school board candidates or school board members that expressed any kind of opposition or hesitancy about you know, the sexually graphic books that were being put on the shelves for you know, middle schoolers and such. They got targeted. And so I was not aware of this. Also, but they are a nonprofit and so now what they're there are simply you write that there are calls for an investigation into the SPLC's nonprofit status because you're not allowed to engage in partisan activity. And I was unaware of this, but there are there's there's I guess an allegation or is there any proof of this yet that they've gotten money stashed overseas. Uh. Yeah, there were two reports that came out. I want to say. One was maybe from the Daily Wire, the Daily Signal. I'm trying to remember which one, but I do know that the Washington freebeekon several years back reported on they had over thirty million dollars stashed away in offshores accounts, which is according to nonprofit death you can't do that. Oh so yeah, you can't stash your money off offshore. It has to be here in US bank. So that was something that was dropped and that was easily I think two years ago that that one came out. Maybe maybe less, Yeah, but yeah, that's that's something that's I think that Congress is going to be taking a look at that there. You know, more than one of the Oversight Committee members has brought it up in the last two or three months in an open hearing. They've been mentioned a couple of times, and I think that you're going to see the House Judiciary Chair James Comber probably announced something that they're going to be looking into them. Well, couldn't happen to a nicer organization. AP always a pleasure, Thanks so much for joining us. I appreciate it, all right, thank you, Yes sir, yes, ma'am. Mecklimber County Judge on Friday afternoon, Ugh this okay? Do you remember the other day when a whole bunch of members of Congress came to Charlotte for a field hearing about crime? Do you remember? I played a clip. The clip was of a woman named Mia Alderman, and she talked about the murder of her granddaughter, Mary Collins, who was developmentally disabled. She was lured to an apartment, she was murdered, she was stabbed like one hundred and thirty times, her body was stuffed in a mattress. Four people were arrested, charged, and then she talked about what happened to some of them, particularly one of them was a woman and her name is America Deal and I believe she lives in South Carolina. And the grandmother said that this suspect, this defendant had cut off her ankle monitor several times had posted on social media like mocking the family and the courts and everybody else, like totally without remorse. Right. So she apparently had an appearance last week in court and on Friday afternoon, Mecklenburg County Judge David Strickland declined to revoke the bond. Declined to revoke, meaning he did not put her on a bond. He sent her back home. She was charged in connection with the murder of Mary Collins in twenty twenty. Her bond will remain the same after Judge David Strickland decided he would not revoke it and her ankle monitor would be removed despite requests from the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's office. So the DA is asking revoke her bond and keep the ankle monitor, and the judge said no, and no, she's going to be freed from the ank monitor which she had cut off. Like that's a big deal, you cut off your ankle monitor, Like they get a signal immediately and then they go and arrest you. And that the idea is if you cut off the ankle monitor, then you go back into the jail. That's the way that's supposed to work. I guess in her case, she gets a little bit of special treatment for some reason, even though the DA is like, do not take her off of the ankle monitor, and we want to hire bond, and the judge rejected both of those requests. America Deal, along with three other people, are facing charges for their alleged involvement in killing Mary Collins in twenty twenty. The prosecution said Collins was stabbed more than one hundred and thirty times and bludgeoned to death. Her body was found wrapped in plastic and stuffed in a mattress. The District Attorney's office and the ankle monitoring company said Deal has repeatedly violated the conditions of her bond. Well, then, what is the freaking point of a bond? What's the point why even bother? Just let her out right, Just save us all some court costs, save us some time, clear up some of the backlog in the court system, and not even have the hearing. What's the point if you can violate the terms of your bond and there is no ramifications for it except obviously a win. You actually you get a reward for it. You can cut your monitor off and then when the DA says, hey, we want you to increase her bond because she's been in violation of the terms of her release and she's cutting off the ankle monitor, So keep that on her and you get rewarded for violating the terms of your release. Why would anybody follow the terms of the release, especially criminals, especially somebody a cue boosed in a horrific murder who has already displayed on her own social media accounts that she has no remorse for what she participated in and is antagonizing and mocking the victim's family and the court system. What are you even doing here, Judge David Strickland, What the hell are you doing? The DA's office and the ankle monitoring company says she's repeatedly violated the conditions of her bond, including letting her ankle monitor die, as well as violating curfew over the past two years. Her attorney argued, she's not a threat to the community. It's not like she would participate in some gruesome murder. Oh wait, sorry, Okay, yeah, he didn't say that. But she's not a threat to the community. And look, she has a job. Look at that. Oh good job. You're supposed to have a job. Why are you, like to quote the philosopher Chris Rock, why do you want credit for something you're supposed to do. Also, the attorney said that she would cooperate with the prosecution. Okay, all right, so maybe this is what's happening. Okay, she's going to be a state's witness. Okay, well, then why is the district attorney asking you to keep the monitor? Why are they asking for the bond? Why do they have you back in court on this m I'm not convinced. That's just what her attorney argued, which that attorney is supposed to represent their clients, so I totally understand why they're making this argument. But the family of the victim that was in the courtroom visibly upset crying over this, Like, I am just at a loss for words at the lack of empathy for the family of the murdered that's on display here. You reward the defendant and further traumatize the victim's family. So this is one of your judges, folks in Mecklenburg County, Judge David Strickland, that's one of them. You know. Visit Creative video dot Com. Let's go to the phones, shall we and chat with Shirley. Welcome to the show. Hello Shirley, Hey, how are you? Hey? I'm well, how are you? I'm worried about this David Stirclin that's on the bench and he's going to be there until twenty thirty. What do we do in the meantime? Is there any way to get rid of him? There is a process for rem moving judges in North Carolina, but it would require some courage and backbone and a willingness to go against one's own party. Among local officials. Yeah, because he is a Democrat. Right, ran unopposed in his last election in twenty twenty two. Is he pretty consistent with this sort of you know, decisions from the barge that. I do that I do not know that I don't know. But how do you find out? I'll be glad to do the research. How do you find out? You would have to go back and find every docket that he has presided over, okay, and then find out like what his rulings were in all of those all of those individual cases. I find it amazing that people that have this power are able to put us in such danger. And then they say that you know, they're trying to keep the public safe. No you're not. No, No, you're not no this yeah, like yeah, when when the DA comes to you and says that they want to revoke this woman's bond for multiple violations, and your answer is no, I'm not going to revoke the bond. And not only am I not going to do that, but I'm also going to remove the ankle monitoring bracelet off of her, even though she has multiple infractions of letting it either letting the battery die or well I should I say she cut off the monitoring It could have just been that she let the battery die on multiple occasions. And maybe that's what they claimed, was that she never took it off. It just died repeatedly because you got to recharge it. Useless. Basically it was useless, right, she might have well had not might as well not have had one on. Correct, well, and now she won't. She was rewarded for it, so now she won't. So it's. Right up, my uh, I just don't understand it. Yeah, No, it's super frustrating, and yeah, yeah, it's it's very frustrating and unfortunately, Yeah. That big meeting with people, you know, people coming in to find out what's going on, that we're having problems in this area and and something like that. You find out they're just letting them go. And and to say the DA is trying to get him to be more forceful in his findings or his decision. That speaks volumes because that doesn't happen. Yeah, yeah, no, you're yeah, you're right now. There is a I'm trying to remember because it's been a while, but there is a There is an office in the court system that compiles data on on the out comes of cases per judge. So there is this data that exists. I've seen it. It's been years, okay, like it's been probably four years since I saw one report that somebody inside the system gave me to show the different bail rates and the types of bail that were being offered. So they do track this stuff internally. I am fairly confident that you can request it. I don't remember the office that compiles the data, but I have seen it, and it's a chart and it had the different judges, and it had the disposition of cases with the percentage of But it doesn't get granular, you know, It doesn't show you every individual case. It just gives you percentages of like how many people are they letting out, how many people are they are they remanding to. Custody, that kind of thing. Wow something. Yeah, so there is some data. So if you want to pursue it, yeah, like start asking around in the court system. Like I said, I wish I could remember what the office was, but it's been years since somebody showed me that document. Yeah, okay, all right, Charlie. I appreciate the call. I appreciate it. Yeah, you take care. Thanks for the call. Oh gosh, it's like, hmm, it's like the office of something. But I forget. It's what happens. I get older. I forget these things. I apologize. I have some texts and some emails. Democrats have quit talking about defending police. Now they just let criminals go. After all, it would cost money to build more jail cells. Uh yeah, well that was there. That was literally Their argument was that it's too expensive. And they talk about you know, the cars state, the prison industrial complex and all of this, but it's all aimed at one thing, which is to undermine safety. Because that's how you undermine the pillars that are the foundation of Western society. That's the point. That's why the Left is always pursuing these types of things. It's because they want to tear down these institutions of our society and they want to replace it with Marxism. Like that's the idea, that's always been the idea. That's why I say, like, the issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution. You just swap one thing out, stick another thing in. I'm not aware of what's happening on the stream. Apparently there are some technical issues. Has the judge given a reasoning as to why he made the decision? I see no reasoning in this report from WBTV. That's what I'm relying on. They were there in the courtroom, but there's no explanation off by the judge or in this story that explains his decision. So I don't know. So when I was a kid, my grandpa died with Alzheimer's, and before he died, my mom and my dad took care of him as he got worse. Forty years ago, there were no treatments and not much support for caregivers and family. But things are different today because of the work of so many people, including the Alzheimer's Association of Western Carolina. It's a great organization with awesome people with huge hearts. I've been a supporter for twenty five years. This cause means a lot to me. I participate in the annual walk to end Alzheimer's and I'm leading a Charlotte team again this year, and it's called once again Pete's Pack. You can sign up and you can join the team and walk with us. It's on October eighteenth, that truest field. Sign up at alz dot org slash Walk and then you could search for my team name Pete's Pack. There's also a link at the petepod dot com. There's also a link in the description of this podcast. Also, I'll be am seeing the Gastonia Walk on aber eleventh then, so you can make a team and join that one too, or make a donation and help me hit my goal of five thousand dollars. If you do, I really appreciate it. There are a bunch of other walks all over the Carolinas. You can go to alz dot org slash walk for all the dates and locations. We're closer than ever to stopping Alzheimer's. Can you help us get there. Will you walk with me for a different future, for families, for more time for treatments. This is why we walk from Allen Pete mandatory drug testing for all judges and magistrates. I'm listening. That's a pretty good idea. Jeff says he loves the philosophy of Chris Rock. Yes, he has some deep insights. And Kirk says, if I was Mary Collins relative, I'd have a hard time to not take the law into my own hands. Well, they did say the DA's office said that this murder trial, they expect the case to go to trial at some point in twenty twenty six. Mary Collins was murdered in twenty twenty six years just to go to trial. Stuart says, Pete, what would be the harm in suggesting people write the state legislature or the judge's office to vocalize their concerns of as blatant disregard for holding criminals accountable? I missed if he's federal or he's state. He's a state superior court judge Mecklenburg County. Does anybody have impeachment powers over this judge? So all right to answer the first question, what would be the harm. There is no harm. If you would like to write the judge, if you would like to write the state legislature, if you would like to write county commissioners, you could write to all of them. I don't know if that will actually result in anything, because again that's why I said to Shirley, it would rely on Democrats having some modicum of courage in making some sort of an effort against this judge. And I have not seen any indication over years that Democrats want to pursue any other type of judicial philosophy than what we have seen. They keep electing the same judges, literally the same judges, and they keep using the same judicial philosophy, So I don't have any Look, you can't even get people to try to move against the sheriff, right so I just don't see it happening with the judges. But you can absolutely write letters, post on social media about it. Sure you could do that, You could amplify. That's I'm amplifying this story right now in order to let you know what the WBTV story is and highlight this judge and this decision, which again there's no explanation for why he decided to do this. It doesn't make any sense. And that's what you know, honestly, That's what journalism is supposed to do, is to help the citizens make sense of decisions or issues of the day, and this decision is not explained. Now, maybe the judge did not offer an explanation. Maybe he did and it didn't make it into the story for some reason. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know if the reporter or they got two reporters, Katie Salt and Spencer Chrisman. I don't know if either of them were actually in the hearing, if they were actually at this court proceeding, or if they got the information after the fact. So maybe that's why they don't have the ex explanation from the judge, if one was even offered. I don't know. All I can do is tell you this. Information that I've got in front of me from the WBTV story and ask the obvious question, why why when the DA is asking for something like this, and you've got repeated violations that are supporting the DA's position, why do you then go the opposite direction and go softer not harder when the DA's asking for harder and you actually roll it back it just doesn't make sense. Okay, let me get Randy on before the end of the show. Here, Hello, Randy, welcome to the program. Yeah, hey, Pete, just suiting answer. I might be a little off base here. I think you're referring to issue with one of the judges. I guess I'm gonna chime in and say this. At the last several general elections of that I participated in, when you go all to all the judgeships that are available, and the people who are running, they're all Democrats. You might casey center up, Republican or conservative. Because I do my homework, I either looked to say if they're a Democrat or see which way they lean in their political beliefe. And it's my trying to thought that you probably can't get a Republican to run because he'd be losing money if he left practice of his private law practice. So I think we're just it's the judges and we just will chief select them because nobody else runs. Right. So this guy, this judge David Strickland, he was unopposed in his last election, the previous one before that. If I recall he ran against he had a Democrat primary. He won his Democrat primary, no general. So this is pretty standard, and there are a number of reasons for it. Randy, I appreciate the call. There are a number of reasons for it. One, as you mentioned, a lot of lawyers may end up taken a pay cut if they go to work as a judge, right, they could take a pay cut. The other is that in the legal community it is predominantly Democrat in Mecklinburg County, which means you have to raise money among Democrats because the bar is packed with Democrats. That's who they raise money off of, and that's who they've worked with, these judges and that sort of thing, right in the private practices and such, So there are a lot of personal connections but also political ties and so Republicans then if you try to run against an incumbent Democrat judge and you lose, now you end up having to appear before that judge. That's not ideal. So there are a number of factors why Republicans don't run against these Democrat judges in districts that are Democrat controlled. All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
