Ap Dylan from the North State Journal. You can read her work at NSJ online dot com. She also has her substack newsletter called more to the Story. Hello, Ap, how are you hey? Pete? How are you doing? I am doing well, doing well, all right, So let's get into some of the stuff you've been working on over at North State Journal. You've got a piece. House committee calls school superintendent back for hearing. This is the Chapel Hillcarborough City School Superintendent Rodney Trice. So what's he in trouble for? Well, apparently there are a bunch of books in their libraries and their elementaries that violate the parents still of rights. They talk about gender transition, gender ideology, and those things are banned for grades K through four underneath that bill. But it looks like they're also gonna call in the library. Guy, oh, the media specialists media director. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're calling him in as well. I sent a letter to him, which co chair of that comnaittee, Brendan Jones from Columbus County, sent a letter to him inviting him, and he posted that on social media, along with several copies of images from some of the books they found. One was called Twas the Night Before Pride, where a family taking their little babies to a pride show that features a BDSM couple kissing. Another book called I Am Max that describes how babies can be transgender, yeah, infants, and then another one called Maddie, which is a general neutral term for both mommy and daddy replacing those terms. So and he's got images of those things all up on his on his X speed there. All right. So who's doing this, Like, who's going to the libraries in these schools and check it and taking the pictures of the books. Well, apparently he's got staff looking into all these things, and they found one hundred and fifty five such books. All right, And didn't Rodney Trice make an appearance before this committee previously. He did in December with their board chair, because the two of them had made statements, well the board chair anyway, made statements that they weren't going to implement the Parents' Bill of Rights. They were going to do things their own way that you know, this isn't this isn't what we want to do in our in our district. So so we're going to nullify the state law. We're going to ignore the state law. Yeah, they he was. I mean, these comments were public record. They were made during a meeting, so it was live. There was a video of. It, you know, I mean, And if I remember, wasn't Trice the guy who he claimed not to have any idea if any of the books were in where is that? When Brandon Jones was like chucking the books into the garbage can behind him or something. Yes, yeah, and Trice and he. Sort of said, I don't know what you're talking. I'm not familiar with those titles. I would have to come back to you with that list. So he didn't wait for Trice to come back with the list. He went and did it himself. But before going to Chapelhill and beinging the superintendent there. He was the director of the Office of Equity Affairs Waite County Schools, where he denied that they were doing DEI and CRT training when I got the slides from the training that the office provided and they were going around systematically to every school training teachers in this and I have got a four part series at North State Journal for folks who want to go list that up. And when was that? That was four years ago ago? Yeah, yeah, he left right after that after my stories came to light. It was definitely at odds of what he was what he was doing there. And one of the training companies they were using is run and founded by former Senator Greg Meyer of Durham, Orange County. They were using him to do his output to do training for these things for staff and for leadership and that sort of stuff. And they had paid them hundreds of thousands of dollars. We County paid them tax pay money for that. Yeah. And we mentioned Meyer last week because he was the Yeah, he was the state senator. He just took a job. Where where did he go? I forget the. NT Justice Center, right right right? Yeah? Yeah, So okay, So and then I guess they're going to replace him. Did they already replace him? They did with that guy Garson. That's right, That's what we talked about later. Yeah, the vice chair of the Democrat Party is replacing. Him his nose. Yeah. Okay, speaking of replacements, we have a replacement for the late Mike Klampett. He was a state representative out of western North Carolina. He represented Swain County, Transylvania County, and Jackson County. This is District one nineteen. He passed away from cancer, if I recall correctly, right, So now they've. Yes in March, Yeah, so they've She had won that primary though, but Ferguson was the next runner up, so she likely was top of the ticket for folks in that in that district too, and the Republicans there who were choosing who would replace him, I mean several people I think through their hat in the ring, a couple, two women from Jackson County and a gentleman from Transylvania County also through their their hat and the ring. So Ferguson is she grew up. I'm the Cherokee in the qualit community of the Cherokee Nation, so she's the first Cherokee tribe person to be going to Raleigh. Ever. Yeah, huh. Ever Anna Ferguson, Yeah, from from the Kuala Boundary, I think is what they call. It, yep, And so the Cherokee Indians you have, that's she's she's the first one to go there. Yeah. I've got a quote from her, and I'm going to get a story up hopefully to there tomorrow with this transition. But she came in second to clamp It in the March primary. Clampit brought in almost fifty seven percent of the vote, and Ferguson came in second with almost thirty eight percent of the vote. So she was she was not that far behind, but you know, he was still obviously popular in his distinction. That's a plus three Republican. Yeah, so she'll face who is she faced she's facing in the fall. I think it's Mark Burroughs. Yeah, Democrat Mark Burrows is who she'll face to keep the seat. Well, what's interesting is over you know, say, the last well the last fifteen years since the Republicans won control of the legislature. What's been interesting to watch is the developing relationship between the Cherokee and the Republicans in the state. Like they there are a lot of the Eastern Banded Cherokees. They are big, you know, donors to the Republican Party. They do fundraisers and stuff for them out there. Yep. So that's so, that's interesting. So shoot, well the first Eastern Banded Cherokee in the legislature. Okay, So let's uh yeah, let's also talk about what could be the first state takeover of a city in almost a century. This is Rocky Mount. What's going on in Rocky Mount? Well, the Local Government Commission last week sent a warning to the city at its meeting that any further budget problems could trigger them to take over the city's finances, which is a rare occurrence, especially a rare occurrence for the size of Rocky Mount. Basically, they had a lot of closed door meetings over the last few months, several letters went back and forth, and there was a state audit that found that they had some serious issues going on there, he documented. According to Bolierc's performance audit, he characterized as being quote on the brink of collapse. It documented a seventy percent drop in the city's cash and investment balances from one hundred million in twenty twenty three to twenty eight point or twenty one point eight million in August twenty twenty five, and he said that was driven by quote, unchecked spending. So there's no alligations. Yeah, wait, there's no allegations of like corruption or anything at this point, right, is this mismanagement. Their mismanagement, Yeah, bad missmanagement. Compensation rose twenty seven percent during the same time period in twenty twenty four, capital purchases rose one hundred and fifty three percent, while revenues had fallen by two percent. The audit blamed stuff like hiring an oversight of the former city manager or revolving door in the finance department. They have five directors that came and went in that position in a rapid succession. Also, they had chronic delays in the required financial reporting. They were related in some of their audits. Some only arrived in draft form and weren't weren't ready to be seen actually, but they turned them over because that's all they had. So there were some serious problems going on there and I expect to see that revisited at the next meeting of the LGC in May. Okay and Rocky Mount's got a population of just under fifty five thousand. That would be a very large city for the state too. Yeah, to do this, Yes, and you know it's it's it's a town that Roy Cooper has claimed, is you know, being from the Rocky mount area. I put that out on accent. A lot of people were like, but he's from Nashville. I like, well, he spends you know, almost twenty something years, twenty eight years, you know, doing a law on Rocky Mountain. That's where he gave his farewell speech when he was governor. So what would you like them to say? Yeah, all right, we will leave it there, Ap Dylan, I appreciate it. You know, stories are powerful. They help us make sense of things, to understand experiences. Stories connect us to the people of our past while transcending generations. They help us process the meaning of life, and our stories are told through images and videos. Visit creative video dot com. Now Eric Swalwell, shall we lets guys, The New York Post has gone ham on Swalwell. That's what the kids say. They they've got there at like half a dozen stories. It is quite clear what is going on, what has been going on with the Swollwell reporting or the lack thereof, for you know, almost a decade, and then just the deluge of stories against him, which has now prompted him to drop out. He has dropped out of the governor's race. He was the leading Democrat in the polls, not that he was leading in the polls, he was actually trailing two other Republicans. Like that's why this stuff came out. This was an oppo dump. These Democrats have known this stuff for almost a decade and they sat on it. Reporters have known about these quote rumors for a decade and they didn't report on it. But now as early voting is around the corner in California, I think it starts up on like May fourth, And they were afraid that Swolwell leading in the polls. But he like he may not have been the guy for the job because of all of this stuff against him. So because all right, I'll break it down, he is part of the there were six sixty one candidates. There are sixty one candidates in this what's called jungle primary, because all that matters is if you finish top two, the top two votainers. Exactly right, people, this is a real opportunity for us to really push the votainer word into the public lexicon. You know, the two votainers they then go to face each other in the general election. And that is a system designed to help Democrats, right, because the idea being that it'll just be Democrat on democrat. They thought, like this is perfect for us because like only twenty five percent of the registered voters in California are Republican now, like there are more people who vote for like Donald Trump. I think he got like I think he was somewhere around forty percent of the vote went for Donald Trump in California. But they are like shut out. Republicans are shut out of governing at like all the levels in California. And so they have this jungle primary in a way to make sure that Republicans can't ever pull an up set and win or whatever and then lo and behold because the jungle primary, and because Democrats have done such a fantastic job of running that state into the ditch that now you've got Steve Hilton I believe is his name, and you've got a sheriff. I'm drawing a blank on his name. He's in second place in the polling, and they're both Republicans, and you could end up because of this jungle primary, you could end up now with two Republicans on the ticket. And so this is an effort to try to get swallwell out. Unfortunately, it seems like the main beneficiary of this is going to be that billionaire moonbat Tom Stier. Yeah, what could He's one of these green energy nutballs. So How it started was on Friday, San Francis Chronicle publishes this story detailing how four women I'm sorry hang on. The first story. Was one woman I believe, and then CNN did a follow up with others. So four women have accused married Eric Swallwell of horrific acts of sexual assault and misconduct, including a former staffer who claims he raped her. Like, if you could not detect that this guy was slimy years ago, then your internal gauge is off. Okay, this guy has been a slime ball ever since he first emerged in the public space. Remember also, this guy was savaging Brett Kavanaugh, saying all these crazy things and me Too movement, and he's all on board with all of me too and Kavanaugh's you know, this assaulter and all of this stuff. California governor's candidate campaign was hanging by a thread over the weekend, I mean like Saturday. It was like they had to take down his campaign website's endorsement list. They disabled the donation page. People were demanding refunds and stuff. Endorsements were getting pulled. The alleged victims aired bombshell details of what they say happened to them. One of the women, a former staffer, claimed he raped her when she was drunk and left her bruised and bleeding during the twenty twenty four attack. Twenty twenty four, so like in between, like this guy's been a talking head on miss Now and CNN for years. He led the impeachment against Trump, one of them against Trump. He also claimed she woke up naked next to him in a hotel room in twenty nineteen after a heavy night of drinking and felt physically that like they had had sex. Woman who said she first met Swalwell online alleged she also awoke next to him in a hotel after a drunken night, adding he allegedly kissed her and touched her leg without consent. There's more. It's all coming out against this guy. Congressman Eric Swalwell long a slimy member of the legislative body up in DC. He's from California and yes, uh. To answer the question on the text line, a couple people are like, Hey, isn't that the guy that was accused of like sleeping with Fang Fang, the Chinese spy. Yes, yes, it was same person. In fact, this is from Jim garrity at National Review back in twenty twenty, he wrote this is this is what he wrote. Congressman Eric Swalwell is a giant waste of space. He is a trying too hard gun confiscation, promoting nuclear strike on Americans, endorsing Biden death, speculating white man who's running to increase diversity. Congressman who was in the twenty twenty Democratic presidential primary for about ten minutes, he consistently pulled at zero. He broke his promise to not run for congress again. There are noisy concerns about his role in uncontrolled methane emissions. Remember that where he was doing the interview and it sounded like he passed gas. Yes, and now Axios again, this is twenty twenty. Axios is reporting that a Chinese national named Fangfang or Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese spy, worked as a fundraiser for him and interacted with him until she left the country back in twenty fifteen. Yes, that Eric Swalwell. In just the past year or so, Garretty says, I've written about California's dire long term financial picture, worst in the nation, cost of living and affordability crises. The state's dead last in migration rate for six straight years. It's bottom five rankings among all fifty states in affordability, growth, employment, energy, infrastructure, air and water quality, fiscal stability, state tax competitiveness, quality of life for retirees, car accident rates, drunk driving, road quality, gas prices, grocery bills, inflation, cost of regulatory compliance requirements, labor costs, housing market costs, and electricity costs. It's also in the bottom ten in public safety. They are bottom five in every one of those categories except public safety, where they're in the bottom ten. Just about every measurement you can think of. California is grossly underperforming everywhere else. Swalwell's campaign touted him as quote the fiercest face of the Democratic resistance. The problems in California don't have anything to do with Republicans or Donald Trump. It's the state's policies, Gavin Newsom and the Democrat controlled legislature. You think Eric Swalwell was going to fix that stuff, But California may have just dodged a bullet there because now he's out. He dropped out. I had his statement that he filmed and posted to social media. Yeah, we'll take a listense only a minute. Man. A lot has been said about me today through anonymous allegations. I thought it was important that you see and hear from me directly. Okay, these allegations of sexual assault are flat false. They're absolutely false. They did not happen, they have never happened, and I will fight them with everything that I have. They also come on the eve of an election where I have been the front runner candidate for governor in California. I do not suggest to you in any way that I'm perfect or that I'm a saint. I've certainly made mistakes judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife, and to her, I apologize deeply for putting her in this position. I also apologize to you if in any way you have doubted your support for me. But I think you know who I am. For over twenty years I have served the public as a city councilman, as a member of Congress. He's such a give prosecutor who went to court on behalf of victims, particularly on behalf. Of sexual assault victims. That's who I am. And have always been a sexual assault. This weekend I'm gonna spend. Time with my family and friends, and I appreciate those who have reached out to me to show support, and I look forward to updating you very soon. Update. He's out, he is, He posted onto the Twitter machine. I am suspending my campaign for governor to my family, staff, friends and supporters. I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I've made in my past. I will fight the serious false allegations that have been made, but that's my fight, not a campaigns all. Right, So he's out. Where was he? Uh? He said he was, you know, spending time with the family, but he actually was not at home. He was apparently hanging out at a twenty six million dollar Beverly Hills mansion of his eccentric billionaire benefactor, a guy by the name of Stephen Klubec. Multiple sources confirmed the video Swallowa recorded was taken from a room inside the ninety seven hundred square foot home of Kluebec, who's also been shacking up with an alleged honey trapper accused of burglarizing the home of rich older men in Los Angeles. Update on this story, Kluebec kicked Swallwell out that broke within the last hour or so, he's been kicked out of the house. Now one of the other oh, hang on, sorry. One of the other Democrats running in the Jungle primary is Katie Porter. Katie Porter, she's the one that screams at her staffers. She's the one that like threw the hot mashed potatoes on the head of her husband. This is a nasty person. She also is a former congresswoman, one of the many candidates, and she called on Swalwell to to drop out. Democratic political strategist based in Los Angeles, Michael Trujillo said he had heard of improper relationships between Swalwell and staff as far back as twenty seventeen, but even he was taken aback by the rape allegations. He says, quote, narcissistic sociopaths think they're the good guys. So no matter what Eric Swollwell has been accused of, he still thinks he's a good person. Well, and you heard it in that statement, like, look at me. I've been a public servant all this time, I've held these elected offices, so I couldn't have done this thing. So he's going with the it was consent. It was just an affair. I was cheating on my wife, but I wasn't actually committing the assaults. I there's an investigation that has been opened, a criminal investigation by the Manhattan DA. Old Alvin Bragg is on the case. We'll see what he can pull off there. But what's really amazing is how there were all these rumors. I'm seeing reporters on Twitter talking about how, oh yeah, we had heard about this for years, but you know, but what so like you just don't track the story down. Well that one of them was like, well, that's not my beat, That's what one reporter said. It's it wasn't my beat. I tried to get somebody to cover it, but it wasn't my beat. Right. Let me go ahead, get David on real quick. Hello David, welcome to the show. What man? You my favorite? Oh god, I appreciate it. And your your last name is felt ka L I N E R. You got it? No, d tell you this man, this is Shodenfreud, because this is the same guy that was blowing Cavanaugh out yep, it was blowing Trump out. Right yep. And now, brother, when I saw this Friday, I was like, whoa, where's this coming from? And now I get it, man, because. You they don't want to split the votes, right, the Democrats are dumping all of this OPA on him before early voting to get him out so he doesn't split the Democrat votes. Yeah, and then and you end up with two Republicans at the top of the ticket running against each other in the general. Yeah, well I told you, call scratter, I said, he sounds like Bill Clinton MC call. Yeah, yeah, you're see. See what you're doing, Pete. Is you're jumping and seizing. Or how do you say pouncing? Yes, we are pouncing and seizing. Right, yeah, you're pouncing and seizing. But when I'm seeing Pelosi and Shift and all these other people like you got to get out of here, brother, right, you got to Alvin Bragg. Hey, we're going after you. Well, and notice what they first wouldn't do. The first thing that all those Democrats did. The first thing was drop out of the race. Drop out of the race. They kept telling him to drop out of the race. They didn't tell him resigned from Congress. They didn't say that. Yeah, they said drop out of the race. And then when it became obviously, well if it's so bad that he shouldn't be in office, said he has to drop out of the race. Shouldn't he actually be out of the Congress as well? And now you're seeing calls for that to occur. And if he doesn't do it himself, there's a growing momentum to do an expulsion to remove him from the Congress, and you might get a twofer along with Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez from Texas, who's accused of much of the same stuff. So they may move on both of them, and so both of get expelled together. Hey man, I love it. It's crazy, all right, buddy, Hey, hey, real. Que I will tell you that I don't get to catch all your program during the week, but when I'm by myself on the weekend and I do my bluetooth. Man, yeah, I'll go back and listen to what I miss. Man. Well, I appreciate that. Yeah, you can get that at the peatpod dot com. Subscribe and they come right to your phone or tablet. I appreciate the opportunity to plug the podcast, David, thanks, sir, appreciate it. Yeah. So Tim Young, who's a comedian, but he runs his mouth on Twitter all the time. That's his name Tim runs his mouth anyway. He says, Democrats have unloaded their entire file on Eric Swallwell to try to get him to drop out of the race. If he stays in which he should. Says he'll split the votes and open a lane for Republicans to win. Rob Province says the press and the entire Democrat party knew he was a rapist and a sexual predator, and they kept it as secret until he was in the way and needed to be removed. For example, Stephen Tavares, he is a journalist in San Francisco, and he says, I've covered Eric Swalwell since he was a member of the Dublin City Council shortly after being elected to Congress in twenty thirteen. His behavior towards women was known by all levels of our local government and the Alameda County Democratic Party. And then people started dog pilon this guy, like, well, why didn't you say anything? Why wasn't anybody reporting this stuff? And he said, nobody has been more critical of Swalwell over the years than me. I tried repeatedly to get the stories out. I can't force women to speak out, and when they chose not to, I didn't push. I also knew that Swalwell was known to threaten litigation, which he has done. His lawyer sent cease and desist letters. Oh but wait, there's more. New York Post headline Eric Swalwell paid illegal Brazilian live in nanny under the table with campaign funds. They're investigating him for this too. Accused of violating immigration and employment law to keep his illegal live in Brazilian nanny in the country when his South American babysitter's temporary work authorization was about to expire in twenty twenty two, he and his wife lied to the FEDS to keep Amanda Barbosa working for them. This is a new complaint filed Tuesday with the Department of Labor. Another complaint, filed to the Department of Homeland Security back in February and previously unreported, accuses Swalwell of paying the nanny under the table with campaign money lord for a period of two years when she didn't hold valid work authorization. Slight problem for the nanny and the Swalwells is that she was big on social media. She posted a lot of pictures while holding the Swalwell's kids with them like at the White house Easter egg hunt, so evidence that yeah, she's still employed by the family in this period when she had no legal right to be employed at all. Slight problem. All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
