All right, as I mentioned in the last hour, and have mentioned previously, pretty consistently over the last few weeks. I know gas is high, and so therefore we should obviously go back to open borders and transing all the kids. That's obviously the rational thing to do. We should all just stay home, let the Marxist-infused Democrats win, and then let them take our country down that path, right, to woke 1.0, revisited. Makes sense to me. It's a perfectly rational explanation of why people would sit out. Because that's the way you teach people in government a lesson, right, is you go full commie. That's the thing, is you can vote your way in, but you basically have to shoot your way out. So I've been highlighting various stories as they come down the pike. Stories that I believe provide evidence that the parties are not in fact the same. And I know it is very lazy and in style to say there's no difference between the political parties. And I reject this. I understand the idea being like, oh, we're going to the same destination. We're just disagreeing over the speed, right? However, with the realignment of the political parties that we have been seeing for the last decade, ushered in by one Donald Trump, but also born out of the red diaper baby Barack Obama and his fundamental transformation of America that dragged the Democrat Party further to the left and the corruption that we have seen of our institutions in the interim as they sacrificed all credibility and trust in order to get Trump during the Biden administration, during the first Trump administration, right? There is a realignment occurring. What the parties will stand for and what they'll look like after the realignment is unknown. I don't know what it's going to look like. Now, if you think that giving the torch, handing it over to the Democratic Party that is ever increasingly reliant on its red-green alliance, if you think that's the way to get back to some other better order. I'm open to hearing that case, but I've not heard any real arguments, any persuasive arguments as to why that would be true. It just sounds stupid. It does. It sounds like a tantrum. That's what it sounds like. And so I bring to you stories to highlight things that are occurring under this administration, and with a Republican Congress that I believe would not be happening otherwise. Okay? These things would not be happening if Democrats were in power. And I cite as my proof Democrats being in power and them not doing any of these things. In fact, them opposing these things. For example... How about this crazy idea that if you are an illegal immigrant, you should not get welfare? How about that? Is that a crazy idea? That's a law. Like that was part of the immigration code for a very long time. You weren't supposed to be allowed to come into the country if there was a reasonable expectation that you were going to go on welfare. Because you cannot have open borders and a welfare system that gives benefits to anybody that gets here. because with the open border, you're going to have tens of millions of people come in, which is what we saw happen. Remember the Biden administration literally sued the state of Texas because Texas tried to enforce border security. That's what Democrats will do. And I say that they will do that because they have done that. They did it not that long ago. It was only like four years ago. Okay. They literally sued the state of Texas in order to keep the border open. Okay? So, along comes Donald Trump again. And despite the fact that Democrats and media, but I repeat myself, despite the fact that they claimed they needed a new law in order to get border security done, and they only acknowledged this in the last year of the Biden term, because they realized that they were going to get waxed with the immigration issue, right? That's when they come along and they say, okay, we got that guy Langford, the Republican. So he signed on to this deal and he's been, you know, hammering out. So it was a bipartisan bill and all of this, it was a trash bill. We broke it down why it was trash when it was proposed. And the thing went down in flames. Donald Trump opposed it as a candidate. House leadership, Senate leadership, like Republicans then started all lining up against this thing and it died. And Democrats and media told us that that legislation that was bipartisan. So therefore, obviously. Right. Holy. Because like that, that's the standard. Oh, you got a Republican to sign on. That makes it bipartisan. That means it is like from God. We have to do this thing. And if we don't do this thing, then we can't possibly secure the border. And then of course it goes down in flames. Trump comes into office and he secures the border. Like we've had net migration, a negative net migration for like the first time in a hundred years in America. And he didn't get any new laws passed. He did it all with existing laws on the books. That's the difference. So when people said that immigration, the open border, this was their primary concern, they were very worried about all of this stuff, and they elected Donald Trump, he comes in and does that. What do you think happens when Democrats win back control? Do you think they're going to keep Trump's enforcement in place? I don't. Why would they? They've been fighting it the whole way. And so here we now have this idea that, hey, if you are an immigrant, legal or illegal, particularly if you're illegal, but if you are an immigrant, you should not be on the welfare rolls. And so now we have states suing in order to prevent the administration from enforcing this. So this is from the New York Times. a coalition of States and local governments have sued the Trump administration over what they called a catastrophic new policy. It's not really new. That would make it harder for immigrants to obtain green cards. If they rely on public benefits. Well, yes, yes, that's, you're not supposed to come. You're not supposed to be admitted here legally and then put on a path towards a green card. If you are a public charge, that's what the law calls it. If you're a public charge, if you are relying on public benefits, then you are a net drain. The challenge brought by two separate lawsuits aim to block a policy that that the administration is implementing. The suit was filed by 22 states and the District of Columbia, and it argues that the policy would hurt immigrant families by forcing them to either turn away from public assistance programs to meet their basic needs or risk being denied green cards in the future. It also argues that the policy would harm states and localities by straining emergency rooms and reducing participation in food stamps, which would drain money from local businesses that depend on the federal benefits. Okay, so you're saying then that these businesses go out of business because they are solely dependent or overly dependent on government subsidies? That's what food stamps are to the business, right? The states also said they would lose billions in federal funding as people unenrolled from public assistance programs. Well, yes, that is what would happen if you're not supposed to be on the welfare rolls because you're trying to get a green card and you're not supposed to be doing that, then yes, I would expect people to unenroll. Oh, but then the states wouldn't get as much money. And so now the states are like, you can't do that. You can't take our money. Not your money. Well, I guess, I mean, it wasn't the state's money. It's the taxpayer's money. Who am I kidding? It's your grandkids' money that they're going to have to pay back at some point if we don't go belly up for. All right. So I'll go over some of this public charge rule as it's known and and some of the criticisms of it. Get to some of your calls here, too, in a moment. Hey, thanks for taking my call. Certainly. You know, there's one thing about elections I've never really understood. On the federal level, like the House and the presidency, we elect one party in. If everything doesn't go perfect, we take this attitude where we need to throw all the bums out and bring in the other guys. But on a local level, like let's take Charlotte, no matter how bad we run our city gets between the schools, the jails, the white rail, you know, go down the list, we will continue to vote Democrat every single time regardless of how bad the city is ran. Well, okay. So the difference is inherently the difference between local state and national elections, right? It's the Charlotte city council is divided into seven districts. Those elections are held citywide. And so you have a city that is comprised predominantly of Democrats. And so that's why Democrats constantly win. Same thing goes for Mecklenburg. But then when you get, To the state level, now you're into larger districts. And so the way those districts are drawn, and they encompass more than just a city or a town. They'll have rural areas and the like, and there's a lot of rural areas. And then you've got rules about how to draw those maps. And so that's why you end up having Republican leadership at the state level, just based on where people reside. And then at the national level, North Carolina can send 10 or 11 Republicans to the House. But then you've got states like California and New York, and they're sending 60 Democrats, 80 Democrats. So it's just the nature of the federalist model. That's why you end up with those differences. Because the people who are voting for Democrats at the local level, they are Democrats, and they are Democrat leaners in Charlotte. They're not voting for Trump at the national level. Trump did not carry Charlotte or Mecklenburg, right? Yeah, yeah, that is true. All right, well, I appreciate you taking my call. Yes, sir. All right, Dave, appreciate it. Let me jump over and get Ralph on. Hello, Ralph. Welcome to the show. Hey, I got a good connection today, Pete. But, hey, what I would like to see is the 80-20 issues in a commercial for, you know, that the voters voted for but got vetoed. And, you know, by Roy Koontz, and. Then also just they would. Pound that in. I mean, voter ID, how many times did he vote against that? I lost count. Yeah, I lost count. Yeah, I mean, it was a bunch. He fought voter ID for a decade. Him and Josh Stein, they wouldn't join in any of the lawsuits that all the other states did. Went in, there were 80, 20 issues. I had to go to a hospital yesterday. I had to show my ID. You mail a package, you have to show ID. And it's just ludicrous. And then when you try to talk to these people, and I was talking to a neighbor of mine who is a liberal, retired pilot, but he didn't believe that Cooper... And Josh Spine, they– I apologize. I'm getting back in my car from the client's office. But on some of these things about the Green New Deal, when Roy Cooper went up to New York and also didn't– I heard he diverted $ 100 million from the hurricane relief to give low-income families homes. Yeah, down east, not even in the Helene-affected areas. Yeah. Yeah, well, I mean, and this is, I mean, yes, it's a failure of the Watley campaign to highlight this stuff in their ads, I guess, because they're hammering away at the crime issue. But they are doing some of this stuff. They've talked about the Helene response and that sort of thing. But part of the problem, and I've got this, I got one of the, an example of this in the stack today of PrEP. which is the North Carolina media is covering this Senate race simply as a horse race. That's all they care to do. It's about polling, and it's about fundraising numbers. It's not about any issues. They're not talking about Governor Cooper, his record. They're not talking about how he would vote if he's in the Senate. They're not asking him these questions. Are you a vote for the DSA agenda? They're not asking him these things. They don't want to hurt his chances, it seems like. So they just cover it like a horse race. Ooh, this guy's in... He's in the lead. Oh, Roy Cooper's still in the lead. Oh, here's another poll. He's still in the lead. Oh, he's leading in fundraising. Oh, they're pulling their money from Whatley. Like, that's it. It's just horse race coverage. It is the easiest and laziest form of election campaign coverage. And who was the Democratic candidate that primaryed Cooper and then... uh, filed a lawsuit against him and lost in court, Cooper lost in court. He had to make a public apology. Uh, that was a Republican. Yeah. Yeah. That was a Republican when Cooper was running for attorney general. I think it was Jim, Jim O'Neill or Neil. I forget. Um, I think maybe, I mean, I, I might be getting him confused with the, um, the Josh Stein opponent, Mini Cooper. He had to do it too. Yeah, he did it too. They both lied about their Republican challengers in their attorney general races. And they both went to court in order to defend their lies, saying basically lying in campaign commercials is free speech. And I know there's a state law that says you're not supposed to do that, but we should be able to do it because free speech. Cooper lost his case years ago. He spent like almost a decade fighting it. and then did have to come out and apologize. Well, you know, and to today, I called Ted Budd's office on something you talked about a while back on Zoom, having like a one session every week or something so they wouldn't have to do a recess appointment. And I called him right before they went on break or right at break. And I called him again today, asked him why he hadn't called me back. I mean, Well, people need to get on these guys and follow up with them. And if I can get Michael Watley's phone number or I know nothing more, go through the email. I would tell him about these things. I hope somebody's listening from his camp, man. Well, go to one of his events. He does meet and greets all the time. You can go stop by one of his events and tell him that stuff. Absolutely. Ralph, I appreciate the call. Way late for news. All right, real quick. Every government number gets revised, right? Let me get into some of the details here on this policy change that the Trump administration is doing regarding the public charge rule. OK. The Trump administration says this policy is necessary to protect public resources and to restore the basic principle that immigrants must be able to support themselves. Right. The principle is that if you are to be welcomed into the country, then you should not be costing the country your host. You should not be costing the country money to support you. The effort is a revival of a similar policy that the administration tried to impose during his first term before it was met with legal challenges and then later reversed by the Biden administration. Elections have consequences. The parties are not the same. I know you're mad about gas prices. The answer is not to hand over the keys to the government to the people. who disagree with you on literally everything. You don't empower the Marxists because you're mad that you didn't get everything you wanted immediately. This is, by the way, from the New York Times. The policy is part of the administration's broader effort to crack down on both legal and illegal immigration. Ahead of the midterm elections, the Department of Homeland Security has tried to carry out its deportation campaign using quieter methods, including by pressuring non-citizens to leave the country by squeezing their access to jobs and federal programs. Notice what they did there? Non-citizens? Okay, well, who are we talking about? Non-citizens? Illegal immigrants, like that's what you're talking about, right? Many immigrants who do not have green cards. So again, illegal immigrants, like they're painting over, they're whitewashing who this population is in order to engender sympathy for them. And, oh, that's a terrible policy. They're just immigrants. Well, no, they're illegal aliens. Like that's what the law says they are. Many immigrants who do not have green cards are already ineligible for public benefits programs. Okay, well, wait a minute. If the illegal immigrants are already not eligible for public assistance, then why are states suing to ensure that they are not prohibited from getting public assistance? Why are you filing these lawsuits then? This doesn't make any sense. Immigrant advocates fear that the rule would discourage non-citizens from using benefits programs even if they have a U.S. citizen child or children who are legally eligible for food stamps, housing aid, and other programs. Ah, so these are the anchor babies. This is the problem with the birthright citizenship ruling, right? This is the problem when you say, oh, you're an illegal alien. You got over the border. Maybe you checked into one of these Chinese-run birth tourism facilities. You download the kid. Now the kid's a U.S. citizen, and now the kid is eligible for the benefits. The kid is eligible for the welfare. And so now mommy and daddy can apply for the welfare. So you're saying they're ineligible for welfare, right? But they're still getting the welfare because their kids are U.S. citizens. Federal law, get this, federal law has long barred immigrants from obtaining green cards if they are likely to become primarily dependent on the government for subsistence. That's the law. Immigration officers have historically considered the use of cash assistance programs or institutionalized long-term care. They've cited these things as you relying on government, you being a public charge. But not the use of benefits like food stamps or Medicaid. Why? Are those not public assistance programs? Are you telling me snap is not cash assistance? Well, no, see that's a debit card. And so it's not cash assistance, I guess. So what has happened is over the years, the bureaucracy has reinterpreted various things and they've allowed certain things to go and they've adhered to other prohibitions and And so in comes the Trump administration, and they're like, no, this is all public assistance. And so, no, you don't get access to any of this stuff because it's all public assistance. Who's suing? As you might imagine, it's the Democrat-led states because the parties are different. The political parties have different views about who should be on the public dole. There's another lawsuit filed by local jurisdictions that including New York City's Mayor Zoran Mamdani, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, the usual suspects. Mamdani said the policy had already resulted in some families foregoing benefits like food stamps, Medicaid, and affordable housing programs. That would be the direct cash assistance, the housing vouchers, right? Department of Homeland Security's own estimate found the policy could result in about 950,000 people choosing to unenroll from or forego enrollment in public assistance programs. So you're talking about what? Almost a million people. A million people, at least. U.S. Senator Mike Lee said, He said, the defining political question of our time is whether the United States of America is a nation that exists for the benefit of her people or an economic zone and welfare machine that exists for the benefit of everybody else. Hat tip to the Charlotte Observer. I give them credit whenever they publish an editorial from the Las Vegas Review-Journal because that editorial board is more conservative than And their editorial points out that the government has long placed restrictions on would-be immigrants. Those with a communicable disease of public health significance are inadmissible. So are individuals who have committed serious crimes, engaged in terrorism, or affiliated with the Communist Party or any other totalitarian party. Any alien whom a government official believes is likely at any time to become a public charge is inadmissible. This is not something that the Trump administration invented. Congress passed this law in 1882, okay? Just because bureaucrats have decided along the way to turn us into an economic zone, handing out welfare benefits to anybody that could get here illegally, doesn't mean the law doesn't exist any longer. All right. From the Las Vegas Review-Journal, oh, by the way, somebody, or Bernie found, Roy Cooper was sued by a fella named Dan Boyce when he was running in 2000 for Attorney General. It wasn't Jim O'Neill. That was the guy that sued Mini Cooper, a.k.a. Josh Stein. Because Josh Stein was lying about him. And so he sued Josh Stein under the state's law. Same thing happened. Roy Cooper lying about Dan Boyce. They filed a lawsuit, went back and forth for years and years, proving that Roy Cooper does in fact know how to litigate something that he really cares about. Unlike, say, releasing 4,000 criminals during COVID. He did not fight that. one lawsuit was filed. One Democrat judge was like, I think this is a great lawsuit. And Cooper's like, I fold. And that was it. So that was Cooper's ability. That was, you know, him fighting, but then he, I just had to do it because the court told me to do it. And no, actually a court did not tell you to do it. You decided to do it in the agreement that the court then accepted. See a collusive agreement between the left-wing groups that sued you. Anyway, um, Back to the Las Vegas Review Journal editorial. And again, kudos to the Charlotte Observer for publishing this. Not sure how many of their audience, their readership actually ever gets exposed to this kind of information. But that editorial board, I guess it's part of the McClatchy news organization. So they cross-published it. They pointed out that this public charge law is not new. It's been around for over a hundred years. And the logic is pretty obvious, right? Immigrants boost the American economy by working, starting businesses and the like, right? But the ones who come looking for handouts will drain the government coffers. America is now the richest country in the history of the world. But as our $ 40 trillion debt highlights, Even America is not wealthy enough to spend billions and billions and billions of dollars on illegal immigrants needing public assistance. Reversing course from the first Trump term, the Biden administration defined public charge very narrowly. They applied it only to immigrants receiving cash directly from the government or receiving long-term care that the government covered. This summer the Trump administration published a final rule that expanded the definition to include programs such as food stamps and Medicaid. If implemented this rule would save federal and state governments about 13 billion dollars every year for states it would be an annual savings of five and a half billion dollars They go on to point out that few things make Democrats more upset than efforts to restrict non-citizens from tapping into the American safety net. And they highlight, you may be old enough to remember this, I'm old enough to remember this, 2019, lo those many years ago, in 2019, there was a presidential campaign primary debate among the candidates seeking the Democrat nomination right there were 10 candidates on the stage and they were asked to raise their hands if they thought that the government health care plan Obamacare should cover people in the country illegally and out of the 10 candidates all of raised their hands. They all raised their hands, meaning they all thought illegal aliens should be able to be on public assistance and get Obamacare. There is a difference between the political parties. Once again, I know gas prices are high. So I guess the only rational response would be to put the party in power that wants to give amnesty to all of the illegal aliens and give them all free health care. Right? That makes logical sense. They also point out that the city of New York is suing over this change, Zoran Mamdani. He's basically saying that immigrants depend on welfare to make ends meet. And wouldn't that then make them public charges under the law? It would. Charles C.W. Cook, an immigrant himself, he said the idea that immigrants should get welfare services is absolutely insane. I say this as an immigrant, now a citizen, who had to promise not to use any welfare and who absolutely unequivocally should have been expected to do that. Right. This is not a welfare system for anybody who can get here. That's not what we should be running. All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening.
