[00:00:23] every episode for free, write your smartphone or tablet. And again thank you so much for

[00:00:27] your support. During the newscast there at the top of the hour, a video was released I believe

[00:00:33] or maybe it was a live video or something but Kate Middleton reveals that she has cancer.

[00:00:44] Princess of Wales 42 years old announces she is battling cancer undergoing preventive chemotherapy.

[00:00:53] It reassures the nation quote, I am going to be okay in highly emotional and unprecedented

[00:00:58] video. It was okay. So it was filmed earlier in the day, sorry Wednesday it was filmed and

[00:01:10] she revealed the news had come as a huge shock and that she and William have been doing

[00:01:13] everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family came

[00:01:17] days after she was seen smiling with Prince William as they left their favorite farm shop close

[00:01:23] to their Windsor home. So there was something, look I don't follow all of the royal family stuff

[00:01:32] because some people fought a revolution to get away from them so like I don't follow as we

[00:01:39] obviously I hope that she recovers fully I wish all the best for them I don't have any ill will

[00:01:45] towards them or anything and offer up prayers for strength and comfort for her family and friends

[00:01:52] and those who are fans I guess and follow the royal family and all that. But I thought I had seen

[00:02:03] something a couple of days ago where they had like remember they had like photo shopped or did

[00:02:09] AI or something on some photograph that was put out and they they realized like oh this isn't

[00:02:17] really a photo. This wasn't legit and then I think that's what kind of blew all of this up I

[00:02:22] guess they were going to try to keep it all secret. I'm not aware of what kind of cancer she has

[00:02:29] she didn't say but I'm sure that'll come out at some point because you know the royal family is

[00:02:34] not very good at keeping things under wraps. Oh that's funny John says I was at that dead show as

[00:02:46] well although I never made it past the parking lot. Ah the Gravel Dead Show at RFK that year would

[00:02:51] Bob Dylan opened. I was there the day it rained and then Dylan played and then they opened with

[00:03:02] I believe it was Shake Down Street and they did a whole lot of songs rain related.

[00:03:09] I almost didn't make it out of the parking lot that's a different story.

[00:03:15] Let me see here get through some of the messages. I know you're wrapping up but in regard to

[00:03:21] the baseline zero budgeting I was legitimately wondering what is the purpose of continuing to pass

[00:03:26] new laws all the time. In the military in my industry you write a SOP and standard operating

[00:03:32] procedure then revise as things come up wouldn't it make more sense for GovCo to revise strike or amend

[00:03:38] existing laws unless it's only for grandstanding purposes well yes that is somebody needs to do

[00:03:46] something right. I don't believe a couple of months is enough time to make a judgment on Mike

[00:03:52] Johnson's job performance right. Well again Mark like that's your approaching it.

[00:04:05] I yeah I find that hard to believe that TMZ admitted the video is okay I'm not I don't even know

[00:04:11] that I'm not even like it just got carried by everybody and so now I'm supposed to believe that

[00:04:18] the video is fake too okay to like all right well then you know what we're just going to talk about

[00:04:22] other things then because there's no point in covering anything on the news because everything

[00:04:25] is fake right I don't know. Everything is everything's deep fake. Except I will say except Mark

[00:04:38] Robinson this guy he will tell you straight up Mark Robinson he'll be like yeah I wrote that

[00:04:44] stuff on the Facebook page what of it I'm running for governor anyway right. And this may come

[00:04:51] as a surprise but some Connecticut lawmakers they're now using Mark Robinson's Facebook posts and such

[00:04:59] to try to win businesses to their state up in Connecticut yeah yeah they're going to try to make

[00:05:09] this play look yeah they're claiming they're claiming that there are a lot of people and a lot of

[00:05:14] businesses that have relocated to North Carolina us being the number one state for business right

[00:05:21] that all of these people are coming here but because Mark Robinson won the nomination

[00:05:28] for the governor of for the Republican party to run for governor not that he's even won

[00:05:33] the governor's race yet just that he won the nomination in the Republican party that's enough

[00:05:40] to get businesses now to flee North Carolina and move back to Connecticut where they can enjoy

[00:05:46] the burdensome regulations and the much higher taxes. So oh yeah and also the crummy weather you got

[00:05:55] that going for you as well plus the proximity of Massachusetts and nobody really wants to live

[00:06:02] that close to Massachusetts ever I said it I'll say it again too and if I wasn't on an FCC

[00:06:11] controlled airwaves I'd say something else but I'm not going to anyway Democratic

[00:06:18] Democratic Senate leaders who I would remind you they are politicians okay these Democratic

[00:06:27] state senators in Connecticut are in fact politicians much like Marjorie Taylor Greene

[00:06:35] right has has been mugging for cameras here and trying to get some some coverage for herself

[00:06:41] and some of this stuff so too will these politicians in Connecticut it's at a much lower level

[00:06:50] so you know smaller stage it is Connecticut right it's not like it's New York that they're always

[00:06:55] comparing themselves to and are never the same but it doesn't matter point is they are politicians

[00:06:59] they're going to make a play here for some PR and you know what if they can help out Josh Stein

[00:07:05] one of their fellow Democrats down south here where you know all of their family relatives of

[00:07:11] and friends have moved to North Carolina so they're trying to influence North Carolina politics by

[00:07:17] doing Josh Stein a solid so they wrote two officials not here come on now no no these Senate leaders

[00:07:29] in Connecticut wrote a letter to Connecticut's Department of Economic and Community Development

[00:07:36] and urged them to quote explore opportunities to attract businesses from the state of North Carolina

[00:07:43] to relocate to Connecticut so they're telling their own commerce department hey you may want to take

[00:07:49] a look at North Carolina maybe they got some businesses we can poach okay did they need a letter

[00:08:00] sorry oh hang on a second did they need a letter to try to poach businesses guys I think I might

[00:08:06] have I think I might have a reason as to why you're losing business if you don't even know that

[00:08:11] you're supposed to be going into other states and trying to poach their businesses your economic

[00:08:16] department is terrible your commerce department needs a gutting my goodness I mean I guess kudos

[00:08:23] to these senators for like recognizing what it is the commerce department supposed to be doing but

[00:08:29] wow what an indictment on the people in your commerce department that you have to write a letter

[00:08:33] to let them know hey there's a guy who's a Republican down in one of these other states maybe use

[00:08:39] that weaponize him against these businesses get him to move because I'm sure businesses would pick

[00:08:44] up and move their multi-million dollar operations to go spend more in taxes and suffer with more

[00:08:50] burdensome regulations in Connecticut based on the fact that a guy won a nomination not even the

[00:08:57] election yet I'm sure yeah these guys got their fingers on the pulse of business it's amazing the

[00:09:04] Connecticut isn't a business juggernaut already to clarify from the earlier tweet the video today

[00:09:13] is not alleged to be a hoax the video that was released today where Princess Kate says she has

[00:09:23] cancer says it's treatable um that's not rumored to be a hoax the tweet that said there was a

[00:09:32] rumor of a hoax it was not actually admitted to by TMZ it was reported by TMZ that conspiracy theorists

[00:09:43] said the video of her and her husband walking out of some farmers market that was a hoax

[00:09:49] but the the metadata from the photo does not indicate that it's a hoax

[00:09:57] but conspiracy theorists say it's a hoax and it's a different video okay I just wanted to set

[00:10:01] the record which by the way now all of the networks are all over the uh

[00:10:06] that story and uh marjorie Taylor green as the producers here have noted off the TV screens now

[00:10:14] oh she'd have gotten away with it too the work for you dang kids

[00:10:20] oh yeah that's that's a that's a tough one right there man right you get all this worked out you

[00:10:27] got it all lined up and then like drop the drop the news you're all over the capital he'll

[00:10:32] steps you're doing the press conference you're doing the interviews you're all over the place

[00:10:36] and then all of a sudden Kate Middleton comes out and says she has cancer and now knowing gives a

[00:10:40] flying fig Newton about your motion of vacate oh by the way my galagher now is announced he's not

[00:10:46] going to serve out the rest of his term so apparently the house really stinks

[00:10:57] uh Paul Kane from Washington Post

[00:11:02] uh says I just wrote about the house's great resignation members who are quitting midterm

[00:11:07] Ken Buck out today that's now six who have left early and representative galagher

[00:11:14] says that he is quitting midterm but he's going to do it next month I cannot overstate how awful

[00:11:21] the house is now members hate it so you guys I don't know

[00:11:31] I I don't know what advice to give leadership or anything nobody's listening to me anyway

[00:11:40] I'm just like you watching it and I'm just like this is it does seem to be pretty awful

[00:11:50] and I don't think constantly threatening leaders with removal if you don't get a hundred percent

[00:11:57] of all your demands and you're one of you know four hundred thirty five members

[00:12:03] and then running out to the cameras and and you know making the speeches and whipping up people

[00:12:09] against your own party members your own majority like I'm not sure that's the winning strategy

[00:12:16] it might be for the individual it that's true it might be good for that individual member of congress

[00:12:23] I don't know if that if it's the best strategy to actually help save the country

[00:12:28] but I know people that say it is this is the only way to do it we got to burn it all down to save it

[00:12:34] um

[00:12:37] by the way speaking of burning everything down

[00:12:39] Connecticut

[00:12:41] trying to stem their business losses they are trying to persuade business leaders that are in

[00:12:48] North Carolina like hey why don't you move up to the nutmeg state

[00:12:54] and by the way we are open to changing our name from the nutmeg state to something cooler but

[00:13:01] there's they're like hey we're totally interested in in getting you here if you are interested in

[00:13:06] you know moving to a state that's got progressive values which I thought

[00:13:12] like we're we I thought we've been watching over the last decade or so in real time

[00:13:18] what business leaders think about all the progressive values at the state level I thought

[00:13:22] like it's pretty clear that they're not really big fans a lot of them are leaving and

[00:13:27] anyway so

[00:13:28] uh can etiquette they're on the they're like hey uh we should go and try to recruit them because of

[00:13:34] mark robinson mark robinson and robinson's campaign uh said quote who cares what these

[00:13:42] northeastern liberals have to say since they took control of Connecticut Democrats raised taxes

[00:13:47] and spending creating a parade of jobs and businesses packing up and leaving their state they

[00:13:51] should stop with silly PR stunts like this and take a page from North Carolina conservatives

[00:13:55] playbook cut taxes on families and businesses reduce regulations and stop wasteful government spending

[00:14:03] um the north carolina chamber of commerce is also quoted but kind of disingenuously

[00:14:10] all right do the current world events have you wondering whether we are teetering on the edge

[00:14:14] of catastrophe are you concerned it's going to reach our shores okay so what are you doing

[00:14:19] about your concerns let me help carolina readiness supply at carolina readiness dot com whether

[00:14:25] you're looking to expand your emergency preparedness supplies or you have no idea where to even begin

[00:14:30] carolina readiness supply can help you food water purifiers tools first aid kits instructional

[00:14:36] materials camping and hiking supplies even because being prepared is just smart carolina readiness

[00:14:42] supply as two thousand square feet of supplies and educational materials that you'll need for any

[00:14:47] kind of emergency in wainsville and always at carolina readiness dot com veteran owned carolina

[00:14:53] readiness supply will you be ready when the lights go out um oh i was on the uh

[00:15:01] w-r-a-l story headline citing robins in his nomination can etiquette aims to poach north carolina

[00:15:07] companies which again if you're not trying to poach companies from every other state what are you

[00:15:12] even doing okay but there's a quote here from the north carolina chamber of commerce the quote in

[00:15:20] the w-r-a-l story uh is written up as such the north carolina chamber of commerce which in the

[00:15:26] past has spent millions of dollars backing gop candidates said a right word shift in the state's

[00:15:34] march fifth primary elections was a quote startling warning of the looming threats to north carolina's

[00:15:44] business climate quote many of the races we were watching turned for candidates that do not share

[00:15:53] our vision for north carolina that's what the chamber wrote in a newsletter although it did not

[00:15:59] single out robins and by name the chamber made a number of other endorsements in the primary but

[00:16:04] not the governor's race which is apparently typical uh of past years two now it's my understanding that

[00:16:13] was not actually about um republicans becoming uh republicans winning like robins and winning

[00:16:22] and him being somehow anti-business it's more about candidates who are

[00:16:27] not good for business or not business friendly democrats uh who have won some races

[00:16:34] what else oh um then there's this section it's got a subhead policy not rhetoric

[00:16:47] for decades north carolina has been a magnet for companies from high cost regions attracted

[00:16:53] by the state's low tax rates business friendly labor laws proximity to international and interstate

[00:16:58] travel research in uh universities and a deep pool of educated professionals

[00:17:04] and it's not uncommon for state leaders to try to capitalize on another state's political drama

[00:17:09] last year north carolina democrats proposed luring the wall disney company out of florida as it faced

[00:17:15] increasing scrutiny from republican governor ron de santis and other officials by the way

[00:17:21] ahead of that one workout i know we're getting ready to open disney world in charlie no we're not

[00:17:29] right so what's interesting it says policy not rhetoric is the subhead policy not rhetoric

[00:17:39] okay so what is the context or what is the meaning of this letter from a group of

[00:17:44] Connecticut state senators to the Connecticut department of commerce why should i care

[00:17:53] what's the point of this story if you even now acknowledge that relocation experts and economists say

[00:18:01] it would take more than just campaign rhetoric to cause companies to overlook north carolina's

[00:18:06] favorable business climate why are you doing a story then what do i always say

[00:18:14] i have very little patience or tolerance for media people who pretend that they are not participants

[00:18:19] in the political arena this is what i'm talking about this is a perfect example of it they did

[00:18:26] a three-page story on this letter that basically says some some democratic politicians in Connecticut

[00:18:37] don't like mark robinson that's what they're saying

[00:18:42] oh stop the presses for that right but no no they got to fill the you got to fill the news hole

[00:18:48] so here they are doing a three-page story at w r a l the house organ for the state democrat party

[00:18:56] uprooting a company is an expensive and disruptive endeavor and relocating a company from

[00:19:00] north carolina to the northeast would likely increase the cost of business all things being equal

[00:19:06] the median household income in Connecticut was about ninety thousand dollars

[00:19:11] and that is about thirty six percent more than the median income in north carolina

[00:19:19] right so you're trying to woo businesses to Connecticut from north carolina so they can have

[00:19:25] uh... they can be forced to pay their employees more money just to afford to live there

[00:19:30] and they're going to have to charge more money not just to pay their employees but also

[00:19:36] to pay the taxes that are higher there too also the weather sucks

[00:19:42] business people businesses looking at locating when they look in north carolina

[00:19:47] they're going to look at broad policies tax policy wage policy education policy economic incentives

[00:19:54] it's going to be policy that they're focused on not campaign discussions said nc state university

[00:20:01] economist mike wallden but i guess the democrats in north carolina or uh... uh

[00:20:07] Connecticut disagree right they must disagree again

[00:20:13] like why are you doing this story w r a l why is this newsworthy one of the first questions you

[00:20:21] ask yourself when you're in a newsroom is who cares in other words why is this news

[00:20:28] why is this news well w r a l wants to let you know that some people a thousand miles away

[00:20:36] don't like mark robinson and they're going to try to take our businesses they're trying to take our

[00:20:41] jams they want our germs right that that's that's the play they w r a l wants to apply pressure

[00:20:50] on the readers or the viewers to oppose mark robinson because it might cost them their job

[00:20:59] you might lose your job if you vote for mark robinson that's the point and that is a political point

[00:21:07] the b r a l is engaging in politics because they may they may do the one mic wallton quote here

[00:21:14] saying yeah basically this is just garbage then they also spent you know they follow that up

[00:21:18] with a whole page about the bathroom bill right h b two and all that and then they conclude by

[00:21:25] saying political observers will be watching to see if business sentiment toward north carolina shifts

[00:21:31] and whether that will ultimately sway undecided voters we w r a l will do our part to help make

[00:21:37] that shift happen i'm kidding they don't say that last part but that that is what they're doing right

[00:21:42] political observers will be watching to see right so what this thing like it'll be interesting to see

[00:21:48] will it you don't know that that's a prediction it might actually actually not be interesting to see

[00:21:53] and it might not happen right whatever you think is going to happen

[00:21:59] if it shifts for the worst like we hope it does can etiquette will be waiting with its pitch

[00:22:05] right it's pitch being a whole bunch of words about open and welcoming communities and all

[00:22:10] that stuff proud to protect our socially progressive values which so they're really trying to appeal

[00:22:15] to all business leaders right but you're going to afford the high taxes and the burdensome

[00:22:19] regulations please come to canadica that should be their pitch

[00:22:26] wait ralf is very worried all right ralf welcome to the program hello ralf

[00:22:30] well i think good afternoon good afternoon just starting to answer all your drivers need to slow down

[00:22:37] a little but anyway i'm gonna lose a lot of sleep over this huge story i mean it's very disheartening

[00:22:44] it's upsetting i'm just very worried about the state of north carolina now since they pointed

[00:22:52] this out to me and you know this is why we need to shame the media we need to go in front of their house

[00:22:59] and shame them and brother neighbors i think you know what might happen here is that w r a l might end up

[00:23:07] having to move to canadica you know i mean that with i mean the shrinking new staff the size

[00:23:13] of their operation right i mean they're they're progressive values it seems to me like uh like maybe

[00:23:19] they should maybe they should make a run for the borders as well and uh and head on up to canadica

[00:23:26] that would be i mean that'd be a win win ralf i appreciate the call i got to run thank you sir have

[00:24:43] cicada or cicada and there flexing their muscles here okay the u.s will experience a rare phenomenon

[00:24:51] to spring two brewed of cicadas are expected to emerge from the ground simultaneously our state will

[00:24:58] likely see one of these brewed starting in april or may this is according to katie perol to solve off

[00:25:05] at axios dot com cicadas are harmless and beneficial to local environments or so she says

[00:25:11] so they're not considered pests but they sure aren't noisy the high pitched buzz

[00:25:15] the male cicadas mating call there could be like up to a million per acre brewed x i x which i think

[00:25:23] is nineteen is going to appear in charlotte plus western north carolina parts of the triangle as well

[00:25:28] meanwhile brewed x i i or eight is expected in states across the midwest at the same time so brewed

[00:25:36] nineteen and eight have not specifically co-emerged since eighteen oh three

[00:25:47] five five five five five five five

[00:25:53] after the cicadas mate the female puts her eggs in a tree the adults die off the eggs hatch

[00:25:57] within a month they uh they then fall to the ground they burrow into the soil at the base of a tree

[00:26:02] and latch on to a root they feed off of the root fluid for thirteen years

[00:26:09] and then they all come out of the ground and make a really noisy racket it's an all you can eat buffet

[00:26:15] for cicada predators like snakes and skunks and possums and birds this year's cicadas

[00:26:21] they're only going to stick around for about a month they can aerate your lawn but they are

[00:26:27] very expensive uh they improve water filtration into the ground and they can add nutrients to

[00:26:31] the soil that they decomposed you know the thing to keep in mind here is these guys get like the

[00:26:37] most amount of coverage of any insect i've ever seen like what is the deal cicadas

[00:26:46] like do you know any other life cycle of any other insect no nobody does

[00:26:54] whoever they've got work in their PR i mean there's pretty fantastic i gotta it's yeah they're

[00:27:00] pretty good by the way it's like the sound of it's the same volume as like a jackhammer

[00:27:06] it's pretty loud yeah roughly equivalent to a motorcycle or a jackhammer the high pitched buzz

[00:27:12] or mating salt can reach up to uh a hundred decibels nuts all right that'll do it for this

[00:27:19] episode thank you so much for listening i could not do the show without your support and the
