Customs and Border Patrol reportedly going to be coming to Charlotte. Outrage has ensued. How dare federal agents come to a city in America and attempt to enforce federal law. The last time this kind of a brew haha happened, I believe there was a firing on Fort Sumner. Sumter Sumner was the guy that got beaten down with the kne right Fort Sumter Citadel guys, as I understand it, guys from the Citadel were the ones that fired on the on the Fort down in Charleston. But I digress. But now, thank goodness, the Charlotte Observer editorial board has entered the conversation has entered the chat. They're not happy, obviously, they're open borders as well. No, no, we're not. We're not open border. Yeah, yeah, you are, you got you are. You believe that anybody on the planet should be able to come here for whatever reason, even without a reason. Totally fine. You know, the the actions of the former administration laid bare who was open borders and who was not. Because, as I've gone over many times on this program, the blanket asylum status that was provided by Alejandro Mayorkas in clear violation of the law, y'all were for that. Nobody cared about it. Republicans started squawking about it. You didn't care. So like, I'm perfectly happy to have actual policy debates and discussions about how best to address immigration, illegal immigration, legal immigration and all that. But I learned years ago that people don't want that, particularly Democrats. They do not want to have this conversation. Everything is about the fields. So the editorial board over at the Charlotte Observer, they say, quote, the main question is why why? So you know me, I'm a giver, So I'm going to offer you the answer to your question of why is CBP coming? You ready to take into custody lawbreakers? That's it. That's why they're coming because there are people in Charlotte that they oper are going to target to try to pick up and deport. And if you don't want those people deported, well see my previous statement about being open borders. They go on to say, though, because they just merely ask the question, they know the answer to the question, they just ask it in order to pivot into this other explanation, there is a case for immigration enforcement. Oh really, is there there's a case for that, particularly when it comes to addressing the minority of undocumented immigrants who engage in violent crime? So what's sor are you saying that there's no case for immigration enforcement for people who came here illegally and have not committed a violent crime? What about people who commit nonviolent crimes? Is there a case for immigration enforcement for them too? Why don't you make that case? I would love to hear you guys dissect that case. See, but you're not interested in and actually dissecting that case or doing an examination of that. No. No, you're just using that as the springboard as the sort of I'm not saying that that was good, But now you're gonna pivot over to explain why maybe in some cases. It is good. There's nothing to suggest that Charlotte has an immigration or is an immigration hot spot that's grown out of control, or that immigrants in Charlotte are a particularly acute threat to public safety. That doesn't matter. That's a strawmend. That doesn't matter. We don't need to be designated as some sort of hot spot. Not relevant. They're coming for a quote brief stint, as has been reported. We don't know what that operation is. You don't know what the operation is, you have no idea, You have no idea, but you feel confident enough to come out and say that they shouldn't be here because we are not a hot spot. Tell me what would be a hot spot? What's a hot spot? They don't define that. They just say we're not one, with no definition. This is so lazy. This is what I'm talking about when I say intellectually flabby. All they have are these slogans and bumper sticker bromides, just these appeals to empathy. These are not arguments, right, You're not defining the debate. You're basically just saying I don't want to argue that stuff where you know you would get waxed. So I'm not arguing this other stuff. I'm just saying this thing without any evidence, sending masked immigration agents with tactical gear to Rome City streets. Again, you don't know if any of that's going to happen here. You have no idea because you don't know what the operation is. Is at best a last resort and Charlotte is not in a position of needing such intervention. Again, you don't know if that's a last resort. President Trump ran on a campaign of doing this very thing, deporting illegal immigrants. Why so many, because so many were allowed to enter under the previous administration, to the point where even after the election failure of the Democrats, even Democrats acknowledge to get a little out of control, and the fact that they lied and you, Observer Editorial Board, lied about we need new legislation to address this. No, No, the executive branch did not need new legislation. You just needed somebody to enforce the law. And that's what's occurring right now. So you are anti law enforcement. You do not want the laws enforced. You want amnesty, right, That's what this is actually an argument about. And you don't want to have that argument because again, you would be waxed in that argument. The most likely explanation is that it's a political move. That's a lie too. You don't know that. That's the most likely explanation that could be part of it. In fact, I would probably bet that, yeah, there's some political motivation behind it as well. Sure Trump ran on this promise. This is him showing people he's fulfilling the promise. Okay, but you don't know that it's that that's the only reason they're coming here. If so, it's a counterproductive one that will disrupt lives and create an atmosphere of fear, especially for Charlotte's Latino community. Once again, I point out ICE is already doing operations here. They're already doing this. Also, it's not a counterproductive move. It's only counterproductive. If you want to give him this to all illegal immigrants, then yes, that would be counterproductive. But if you are of the mind that people who entered the country illegally should be sent home as I am, and there are ways to do that. But there are all sorts of ways to do that. For example, I would be okay, like, what is the cost of these operations? Maybe we take the cost of the operations, break it down on a per capita basis. For however, many illegals got sent home. You find out what that cost is per illegal alien, and then you offer people that money. So if it costs ten thousand dollars to deport somebody under the current law enforcement strategy, then why don't we offer people ten thousand dollars. Here's ten grand go back home, or nine grand. We'll save ourselves some money, right, or we can do it the hard way, right, that's a potential way to go. See. But I'm coming at this from a different fundamental assumption, which is or fundamental premise, which is illegal immigrants need to go home. That's what Trump ran on. That was the main issue that got him elected, one of the main issues that got him elected. This is what people have said in polling as well. And because y'all do not want to deport illegal immigrants, you think every one of them that got through should be able to stay. You're coming up with all of these excuses, all of this demonization of ICE and CBP, and of course Donald Trump, you know, you're coming up with all of these justifications and rationalizations for the thing that you don't want to actually argue, which is pro amnesty for everybody that got here, which, by the way, is an insult to everybody that did it the right way. We are getting reports from different community members that ice slash CPB is active across all the Queen City this morning. This morning, Operation Charlotte's Web seems to be in full effect. Best advice I can give for villagers who do not have immigration status and are vulnerable to arrest and deportation. So illegal aliens. So you're telling people who are breaking the law by being here, you have an attorney telling them, quote, shelter in place, stay inside, don't open the door at your home, don't drive, stay your bleep at home. If you see federal body snatchers, please call the hotline at seven oh four seven four zero seven seven three seven. Be vigilant, be safe, take care of yourself and each other. Mm hmm. Aren't you an officer of the court, Like, don't you have some like responsibility to uphold justice and the law? Buster, Welcome to the program. Hello Buster, Hey Pete, how are you? Hey? I'm good? What's going on? Well? I would encourage that lawyer to go back and read the rules of professional responsibility. I'm not sure that her or his interpretation of that is the same as as as minor yours. Yeah. Anyhow, I wanted to tell you about an experience I had just recently. You know, when when the CBP people come into a town and the community comes out to greet them with soup cans and you know, skateboard and things like that, a lot of times the National Guard has been brought in to restore order. And I was up in Washington, d C. A few weeks ago when the National Guard was out and still on the streets because the mayor, I guess this Muriel Bowser, still had welcomed their presence, you know, after Big Balls got beat up and you know, things went out, and you know, people who were at the outside after our restaurants were getting accosted and you know everything else. So I just want to say that, you know, people are afraid that you know, having you know, customs people come to Charlotte, you know, or even if the National Guard have to come in to protect them. You know, Washington, d C. Is an example of how it was done right. And I was in between flights of Dallas and had the day free, so I rode the Metro into the city and as I came up you know, out of the Metro down by the White House near Farragut Square. You know, I had a couple of these uniformed guys. You know, the one thing I noticed about them is they wouldn't ride the escalator. They were running up the stairs and you know how deep those stairs are, two steps at a time, just you know, nice healthy people of male and female agents. There were, you know, in fatigues or uniforms. There were some plane closed people with them, and you know, the ones who had the uniforms on were armed, and you know, but you never felt threatened. They were on the street chatting. Passers by would say hi to them, and I think they were welcomed by the people up there, and they were just keeping the peace. And the reason they were keeping the peace is there was enough of a police presence. Everybody knew that it was time for the bad guys to take the day off, right, And you know, I thought, you know, well, I'll go around and talk to some people who were local. And you know, a lot of the people that you meet on the street when you're up on the National Mall or around the monuments or chorists. But I did talk to one guy who was there, who was a congressional staffer who had his parents there with him, a young, you know, young guy, and I probably looked like an old geezer, and so you know, he probably guessed my politics and I guessed his politics, and I think he worked on the minority side. But you know, he he told me that, you know, things had really gotten better and that he felt safer. And I think if our community would embrace them in that spirit, you know, it's going to be a good thing to get you know, some of these you know, drug gangs away from Charlotte. No, we don't have anything like that in Charlotte. Bust, Oh we have. Yeah, we don't have like the Latin Kings operating here. We don't have any of these types of entities or organizations. Yeah, thirteen Sinaloa. No, No, no, they've they've they've passed over Charlotte. Of course, of course there's a there are far bigger cities between Atlanta and DC for them to put down roots in. We all know that. Yeah, Well, I just I think I think we could. You know, if people just don't freak out, you know, good things will happen and they'll be here and they'll be gone. It doesn't sound like they're really here to patrol the streets. But you know, if things go sideways, I mean, if you come after them with a soup can or a skateboard, you're gonna end up with your notes in the pavement and your hands cuffed behind your back. Yeah, as yeah, as you should. Buster. I appreciate the call, sir, all I have a great weekend. All right, let me get a couple of messages here off the text line, Jeff says, Pete, could you use the fifty thousand watt blow torch and tell Ice and CBP not to forget about Gaston County. That's why do they got to just stay in Charlotte now? To be fair, I don't know if they're just staying in Charlotte seven oh four number. My question is if they don't want anybody warned, why do they even tell us they are coming here? Yeah? I don't know. I don't know why there was this advanced notice given to New Orleans and to Charlotte, although I did see somebody here, it is Bain says, a lot of advanced publicity. Could it be this is actually a second phase learning where the illegal immigrants go? When they're told that they may be arrested. Who's helping them, who's housing them? Would they be considered accomplices? Would it lead to the discovery of a network of safe haven's. That's pretty important. I say ICE has some hunches and this is an attempt to prove connections. The same can be said about the protesters. Ice has eyes on groups and want to track their sourcing and movement. Just a thought, and then he says, I'm told the military does similar things. They will move assets in foreign countries to see how the enemy responds. Often there's no plan to stage an attack, but you gain valuable intel by watching what triggers another nation's movement. Everyone has certain thresholds and patterns of activity. There's movement in New Orleans too, lots of interstates hither and Yon. Yeah, that could be it as well. That you know, like, just because news leaked out that they're coming here, doesn't mean they already weren't here. Here's a great idea. Let us take a listen to the news conference that was held today. I've got several sound bites, basically the entire thing chopped up into digestible chunks for us. Sorry about that imagery there. This is the press conference for joining us today. I am North Carolina House Representative member representative I used to do. I just forgot my name. Thank you so much for joining us. We're all gathered here from many branches of government, from obviously our state legislature, our school board, our county commission, our city council members. Because we do not want ice here. We do not need a border patrol. As I've already said, I'm not quite sure what border we're patrolling here. Are we patrolling Rock Hill or South Carolina. We don't have borders here in North Carolina that need to be protected. Okay, So much of our political discourse is derailed by leftists pretending not to understand basic things. I don't understand what borders do we have? We do have borders. We have a lot of borders, actually, Yeah, North Carolina, Charlotte, Charlotte City limits, all the small towns, the six small towns, they all have borders. Mecklimber County, Scott borders. We have a state border, so we do have borders. Now you're talking about national borders. No, well except for the coastline. But Charlotte, No, doesn't have national borders. That is correct. However, the administration can reallocate agents and officials and law enforcement officers in order to do these types of targeted operations. They're allowed to do this. So I again, like, let's not be derailed by you pretending not to understand the basic thing. We don't need to be protected from Virginia, Tennessee, North South Carolina. And I'm sorry, but people are not joining us in Wilmington. So there's absolutely no reason for us. You have ice that you have border patrol here. This is a safe city. Our crime rates have gone down since the previous year. This is just another something out of the playbook. When you look at Washington, d C. The National Guard was picking up litter. So if they want people here to help us pick up litter, I think we've got that covered as well. We don't. We don't need people here to help us clean up our city. We can take care of our city. We can take care of our own in twenty sixteen when there were protests. We had a democratic governor imagine that, and a democratic mayor, and when they thought that things were too much, they actually called in the national guard. No one here is called in the national Guard. No one here is called in border patrol. We know how to take care of our city, We know how to protect our city, and we simply do not meet them here. Okay, So no, and no, you don't know how to protect the city. You don't. That's been clear with the increase in homicides, that's been clear the recent crime since COVID, like all of like the catch and release judicial system like, it's clear you do not know how to actually do this, and it's also clear that other big cities do not know how to do it, or if you do know how, you refuse to do I also know that there were no judges at this event today. So next up we will hear from Representative Jordan. Love Chez. She doesn't know the people's names her own colleagues. Thank you everybody, good morning. In the interest of brevity, I will try to keep my remarks short. First, thank you to never one of you for being here this morning. Thank you to my colleagues across our local government for being here this morning, for my constituents, for all of our constituents. I just want to say that we see you, we are standing with you, we are here for you. I feel your pain. Over the past several. Days, I've had conversations with community members, with leaders, with neighbors, and each time we talk about this expected enforcement operation from the federal government. And I'm speaking to people across all races, across all backgrounds, across legal statuses, and the common denominator is fear and concern. We've seen what has taking place in other cities across this country when the federal government gets involved. We have seen the undisciplined agents pointing weapons at unarmed civilians, the indiscriminate rounding up of civilians who are sleeping in their homes in the middle of their night. In Chicago, we have seen the worst of law enforcement. And as a lawmaker myself, I know laws must be enforced, but the how matters, And whenever you decide that creating the perception of peace through fear tactics, through militarized agents walking down the street, that doesn't feel like a safe for a welcoming community. To me, that feels like a prison, and that is Oh my guy, We're just like Gaza. We're an open air prison. Trump is turning us into Gaza. Is not what the people of House District one twelve we're asking for. That is not what the people of the City of Charlotte are asking for. The people now some people are asking for you should talk to different people. It sounds like you're only talking to people that agree with you on stuff. That's what that sounds like lacross Mecklunberg County. We do not want that here. So I stand with our local law enforcement leaders, our executive leaders like Mayor Lyles, who have asked for greater communication from the federal government because the interest of all of us, I believe is the safety of our constituents, is the safety of our city. And we want to make sure that everybody knows we are standing with them. And we also want safe cities, but we want to make sure we do it in the right way. So thank each and every one of you all for being here again, and I believe I will be passing this off next to account back to representative. Do appreciate you. All, all right? So he wants to do it the right way, and the right way yields the result of amnesty. Again, if you just listen to all of these remarks with an understanding that all of their positions and arguments are predicated on a belief that anybody who gets here and says ali Ali oxen free and whatever name of tongue they have like, then they should be allowed to stay. That's it. That's the predicate. Everything else flows from there, all of these other excuses and rationalizations and justifications that it's all done in service to that. That's it, all right. If you're listening to this show, you know I try to keep up with all sorts of current events, and I know you do too, And you've probably heard me say get your news from multiple sources. Hey CJ, welcome to the show. Thank you. I just wanted to say I don't care what these politicians say. I haven't been downtown in or uptown in years because it's not safe. Washington, d C is safe. We're not safe because a lot of these men that are mentally ill and women, they're out there and they're carrying night and gosh only knows what until they build a hospital where they should be in where they can watch them. They're out on the street, and then they keep letting them out. I think they should I think these politicians should be well eradicated to something because they're not doing their job is an absolute joke. So they do something. I think that should come here and police the streets and get all of these people who are meittially il off the street. But they're going to put them. Well, CG. They need to build a hospitals. They can build other things that can build. A hospital, Yeah, well we used we used to have one. They shut it down, the Darthy Dix Hospital up in Raleigh area. And this is one of the things that the local FOP said when they endorsed the idea of the National Guard coming to Charlotte was that it will relieve some of the pressure on CMPD, which is understaffed. But that is not what I understand the CBP role to be. But I appreciate the call. Have a great weekend, CJ. CBP is apparently coming to do a brief stint. They've got operations that they're going to be running. There's another thing to keep in mind here too. The alarmism is a it's a tried and true strategy of leftist agitators and organizations, and they have an incentive. These organizations and politicians have an incentive to make people afraid because that makes those people a little more sticky to the organizations and the politicians. Right. It shows the people that are getting these warnings, shows them that this activist organization is looking out for them, and that breeds loyalty. So they have incentives here as well. Let me pick up the audio from the press conference. We have so many people here to speak. I'm actually going to stalk to one of our community members who actually came up from Charleston without having to go through border patrol, who is representing. Scius Waca Waca, Waka, get it, just across the border. Get it. I'm one of my brothers and sisters. It's a good morning to be here on this chill, but it's an exciting morning to be here travel from Charleston. I am My name is Nis Brown. I am the union representative for the North Carolina area. I represent the workers here in North Carolina, and I came to stand in solidarity with our politicians, our community leaders, our working families, our children, the entire Charlotte community. I actually want to say that I'm a union leader that believe in making it clear that our priority is to protect our workers, no matter who they are, no matter the color of their skin, It doesn't matter where they came from. Our priority is to protect our workers. So would that include the workers that have their wages undercut by illegal labor? What about those workers? I mean, it's sciu. Right. The part in US custom and border control here in Charlotte does not make sense. I'm with you, sister, in our city is an attack on our community, our workers, and our first amendments. The deployment is a pattern from the administration that target democratic led city. Well, all of the cities are Democrat led, and you guys can't seem to do anything different, you know, like all of these democrat led cities behave in the same ways. So yes, that's where you're going to send these types of operators. Especially those led by black leaders. Ah, there it is who choose. To welcome all of God's children. Legal and illegal. See again, notice there's never any differentiation between legal and illegal. Never. I don't know. About you, but Charlotte is a Bible city and we believe that we love everybody. All of us are God's children. So no workers should feel fair being in the city of Charlotte. About ones that commit violent crime, should they fear feel fear in the Bible city. No, yes, curious city. Oh they get to some questions from the media. Spoiler alert, no hard questions. Be detained, assaulted, taken by federal agents simply for showing up for work. No, no, no, they were. They're taken into custody because they were legal aliens. That's that's the reason. It's not just because it's not because they showed up for work. We don't need immigration and custom and force coming into Charlotte disrupting our city, creating fear in our city and workplace, trying to divide our community and to make surete a less safe place. No it yeah, it's not a less safe place. It's only going to get less safe if you democrats and activists start acting like dumbasses and start attacking law enforcement. That's what makes things unsafe. See, when you think that the laws don't apply to you. And I understand why you would think that, because you're literally advocating for lawbreakers to not be held accountable under the law. So I understand, like this is your mode of thinking, But try to put yourself in someone else's position. They think that if you break the law, that you should not be allowed to break the law and that there should be a penalty, and that's what you're seeing. So as long as you guys don't attack law enforcement, it's not going to make us less safe. All right. That'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening. I could not do the show without your support and the support of the businesses that advertise on the podcast, so if you'd like, please support them too and tell them you heard it here.
