[00:00:25] or tablet.

[00:00:26] And again, thank you so much for your support.

[00:00:29] I got a chance this morning.

[00:00:33] Well, actually, it started yesterday.

[00:00:36] I saw some traffic moving around on social media.

[00:00:45] A football player named Buttkicker or something who did a speech and outrage ensued because

[00:00:55] he said some things that were not awesome for the left and the media, but I repeat myself.

[00:01:05] And so I get home and my wife comes home and we start talking and she mentions this speech.

[00:01:15] And so as I've said many times over the years, my wife, Christy is my canary in the coal mine

[00:01:21] when it comes to sort of cultural issues that or I should say political issues that

[00:01:28] cross over into cultural issues a lot of times.

[00:01:31] Right, like she's my go to source for like Real Housewives information.

[00:01:37] No, if she is aware of an issue that I have heard about in the political space, chances

[00:01:44] are that it is also moving about in a different space.

[00:01:50] Right, because I am really into the political space and yes, the cultural space.

[00:01:54] But there's a whole like there are many different cultural spaces or space space.

[00:01:59] I SpaceX anyway, when she mentioned it, I knew, OK, this is I'm going to have to go.

[00:02:06] I'm going to have to go find this.

[00:02:08] And sure enough, as soon as I found the video and watched this guy's speech.

[00:02:15] All of a sudden, I'm sure completely coincidentally, Facebook started showing me all of the posts

[00:02:21] of all of the people that I am, quote, friends with commenting about this speech and a lot

[00:02:27] of them not positive.

[00:02:29] Right.

[00:02:30] People are not happy with this guy's speech.

[00:02:33] So the guy's name is Harrison Butker.

[00:02:38] Butker.

[00:02:39] Butker.

[00:02:42] Anyway, he is the kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, which.

[00:02:48] Is like barely a position in football, as I understand it.

[00:02:51] So I'm not really sure how many people listen to the kicker regularly.

[00:02:59] But no, I kid.

[00:03:00] I'm kidding.

[00:03:02] He is he's won three Super Bowls and he like he's apparently the reason I think he was

[00:03:07] one of the reasons, if not one of the main reason.

[00:03:09] Well, it's a team sport, but he was one of the main reasons why they won a Super Bowl

[00:03:14] and got there.

[00:03:16] Right.

[00:03:17] So he's also what you might consider to be a traditionalist Catholic.

[00:03:24] In fact, I don't have this audio clip.

[00:03:26] I didn't pull it, but he spent he broke his speech down into like five parts.

[00:03:31] And one of the parts of the speech he actually talked about for a good, I don't know, solid

[00:03:36] three or four minutes because it was a 20 minute speech.

[00:03:38] He talked about a defense of the Latin mass.

[00:03:42] All right.

[00:03:43] So that tells you that like the the hardcore traditionalist nature of his Catholicism.

[00:03:51] OK.

[00:03:52] He is a big believer in the Latin mass.

[00:03:55] He advised all of the kids graduating from college at the at this commencement ceremony

[00:04:02] where he was invited to be the keynote speaker, a la, you know, Joey Seinfeld at Duke.

[00:04:08] He advised them to go find like when you're looking for a church and you're looking to

[00:04:11] move to a town or something, you need to try to find a Catholic church that does the Latin

[00:04:18] mass, even if it means that you go to a church where the priests aren't that great.

[00:04:25] He views that as like one of the most important things for the individual.

[00:04:29] So that's how traditionalist this guy is.

[00:04:33] OK.

[00:04:34] I had an uncle, my uncle Jack, who was actually a retired Secret Service.

[00:04:38] He actually rode the train back from California with Bobby Kennedy's body.

[00:04:45] Jack Callahan was his name.

[00:04:47] And he refused to go to any of the non-Latin masses after Vatican II.

[00:04:55] So basically, like my entire life, he was always this very reserved, very conservative

[00:05:00] guy.

[00:05:01] And Jack, he taught me how to play chess.

[00:05:03] But he he would not like he he did not like he was at our house one day.

[00:05:07] We had because my mom is big in the Catholic Church and she had a priest come and do a

[00:05:12] mass at our house one day and had all these people come over for I forget what the ceremony

[00:05:19] may have been an anniversary or something like that.

[00:05:21] And he would not he would not take communion.

[00:05:25] He would not participate in it because it wasn't in Latin.

[00:05:29] So that like that's how traditionalist this guy, Harrison, but Butker is.

[00:05:36] OK, now, depending on who you are watching or reading in the media.

[00:05:45] You would get a different impression, I think, of what he said at this commencement.

[00:05:53] And you see it in headlines like over at CNN, they said he was, quote, under fire.

[00:06:01] Who is he under fire from?

[00:06:03] Or should I say, from whom is he under fire?

[00:06:07] Right.

[00:06:09] People that don't agree with traditional Catholicism.

[00:06:12] Right.

[00:06:13] Yeah.

[00:06:14] Trad cats, I think, is what they're seeing the abbreviation.

[00:06:18] These are the people, by the way, that I think of the DOJ was getting very interested in

[00:06:23] trying to put people into Catholic churches, right, to try to do some some spying on the

[00:06:29] people, finding out if they're getting any insurrectionist thoughts and such.

[00:06:35] The trad cats.

[00:06:38] So they were not happy.

[00:06:39] But then again, a lot of them are leftists, and so they're just not happy people to begin

[00:06:43] with.

[00:06:45] They don't agree with the Catholic Church's teachings on all of the stuff that they cite

[00:06:51] as outrageous commentary like.

[00:06:55] They could not believe he had these thoughts on in vitro fertilization, abortion, premarital

[00:07:06] sex, contraception.

[00:07:10] All of which are Catholic Church teachings.

[00:07:14] These are beliefs in the Catholic Church.

[00:07:17] So if you're going to take issue with him, then you're taking issue with the Catholic

[00:07:21] Church.

[00:07:22] But see, they prefer a Joe Biden kind of a Catholic, which, by the way, this guy did

[00:07:27] mention at the beginning of his speech that, you know, Joe Biden, who's there giving himself

[00:07:31] the sign of the cross, the father, son, Holy Spirit, you know, the thing that Catholics

[00:07:36] do tap the forehead, tap the heart, left shoulder, right shoulder.

[00:07:41] You do the stations of the cross.

[00:07:43] And he did that.

[00:07:44] Joe Biden did that right on stage at a rally, I think, or maybe a campaign speech or something

[00:07:52] when somebody was talking about abortion rights.

[00:07:55] And the Catholic Church has been pretty consistent on the abortion issue to the point where it's

[00:08:02] still to this day, it makes me laugh when people on the left and in the media, but I

[00:08:06] repeat myself again, that they act shocked when the pope, this Jesuit pope, who's basically

[00:08:12] a communist, he's like, no, we still don't agree with abortion.

[00:08:15] Like, what are you saying, Pope Francis?

[00:08:18] You're supposed to be one of us.

[00:08:20] He's still a Catholic.

[00:08:21] Like, that's still part of the deal.

[00:08:24] Right?

[00:08:26] And so this guy, Harrison Butger, gives this commencement address and he mentions that

[00:08:30] Biden is at this event and he does the stations of the cross.

[00:08:33] And the point was that our leaders that are advancing this degeneracy of the culture are

[00:08:41] leaders in the political sense, but they are also Catholics.

[00:08:46] And so he says you cannot look to these Catholic, quote, leaders because they are not leading

[00:08:52] in the Catholic tradition.

[00:08:54] Right?

[00:08:55] They're abandoning these Catholic tenets.

[00:08:57] Oh, did I mention?

[00:09:02] Yeah, he gave this speech at a Catholic college to a traditionalist Catholic audience.

[00:09:11] Right?

[00:09:13] Benedictine College.

[00:09:15] Very, very Catholic.

[00:09:19] And I would point out enrollment numbers growing very rapidly.

[00:09:22] The church is growing very or the school is growing very rapidly.

[00:09:28] I took his theme of his speech, ran about 20 minutes.

[00:09:31] I've got some highlights for you, which, by the way, you're not going to hear all of the

[00:09:34] highlights.

[00:09:35] You're going to hear snippets, shall I say, selectively edited as the media classifies

[00:09:39] all James O'Keefe's videos as selectively edited.

[00:09:47] They selectively edit this guy's comments in order to rob them of the point, which is

[00:09:54] to, he says, stay in your lane, right?

[00:09:57] To adopt a vocation that serves God and your family, even if it's something that you aren't

[00:10:04] really interested in doing, but maybe you have a gift for doing it.

[00:10:10] And to serve God and to surround yourself with people who will keep you on that path.

[00:10:18] He said, you know, women sometimes are fulfilled by being moms and staying at home raising

[00:10:24] kids and oh my gosh.

[00:10:26] So there you go.

[00:10:27] That's the big takeaway here.

[00:10:31] As the National Review Editor-in-Chief Rich Lowry headlined, Harrison Butker is right

[00:10:37] about men and women.

[00:10:38] Okay.

[00:10:39] If you're listening to this podcast, you are obviously paying attention to the world around

[00:10:43] us.

[00:10:44] You also have really great taste, I might add.

[00:10:46] But if you haven't started getting prepared for various emergencies, I got to ask, what

[00:10:50] are you waiting for?

[00:10:52] Please call my friends, Bill and Jan at Carolina Readiness Supply, and they'll help get you

[00:10:56] started.

[00:10:57] If you have no idea how to start, they can help you.

[00:10:59] If you're an experienced prepper, they can help you too.

[00:11:02] Being prepared is just smart.

[00:11:04] We've already established that you're smart.

[00:11:05] I mean, you listen to this podcast after all.

[00:11:08] So let's put those smarts into action.

[00:11:10] Go to carolinareadiness.com.

[00:11:13] That's carolinareadiness.com, or call them at 828-226-7239.

[00:11:19] Carolina Readiness Supply has 2,000 square feet of supplies, as well as educational materials

[00:11:24] that you're going to need for any kind of emergency.

[00:11:27] Veteran owned Carolina Readiness Supply.

[00:11:29] Will you be ready when the lights go out?

[00:11:32] The Kansas City Chiefs have a kicker.

[00:11:35] Can I say Chiefs?

[00:11:36] They have a kicker.

[00:11:38] Not the one that's dating Taylor Swift.

[00:11:40] This is not the same footballer.

[00:11:42] It's a different one.

[00:11:43] He kicks the ball.

[00:11:46] And his name is Harrison Butger, and he has deeply grounded views and believes that if

[00:11:54] he doesn't speak the truth, few others in his position will.

[00:11:59] And by the way, if you look at the reaction that his speech has been receiving online and

[00:12:05] in media, he's correct.

[00:12:09] People get kowtowed.

[00:12:10] People get bullied.

[00:12:14] They're in fear of the reaction to saying the things that he says.

[00:12:17] So the first thing he does is he starts off with a call for Catholics to do what?

[00:12:23] To defend their faith.

[00:12:24] As members of the church founded by Jesus Christ, it is our duty and ultimately privilege

[00:12:29] to be authentically and unapologetically Catholic.

[00:12:33] Don't be mistaken.

[00:12:35] Even within the church, people in polite Catholic circles will try to persuade you to remain

[00:12:40] silent.

[00:12:41] There even was an award-winning film called Silence, made by a fellow Catholic, wherein

[00:12:45] one of the main characters, a Jesuit priest, abandoned the church and as an apostate when

[00:12:50] he died as seen grasping a crucifix, quiet and unknown to anyone but God.

[00:12:56] As a friend of Benedictine college, His Excellency Bishop Robert Barron said in his review of

[00:13:01] the film, it was exactly what the cultural elite want to see in Christianity, private,

[00:13:07] hidden away, and harmless.

[00:13:09] Our Catholic faith has always been counter-cultural.

[00:13:13] Our Lord, along with countless followers, were all put to death for their adherence

[00:13:17] to her teachings.

[00:13:18] The world around us says that we should keep our beliefs to ourselves whenever they go

[00:13:22] against the tyranny of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

[00:13:26] We fear speaking truth because now unfortunately truth is in the minority.

[00:13:31] Congress just passed a bill restating something as basic as the biblical teaching of who killed

[00:13:36] Jesus could land you in jail.

[00:13:39] But make no mistake, before we even attempt to fix any of the issues plaguing society,

[00:13:45] we must first get our own house in order, and it starts with our leaders.

[00:13:50] The bishops and priests appointed by God as our spiritual fathers must be rightly ordered.

[00:13:56] There is not enough time today for me to list all the stories of priests and bishops misleading

[00:14:01] their flocks, but none of us can blame ignorance anymore and just blindly proclaim that that's

[00:14:06] what Father said.

[00:14:08] Because sadly, many priests we are looking to for leadership are the same ones who prioritize

[00:14:13] their hobbies or even photos with their dogs in matching outfits for the parish directory.

[00:14:18] Whoa, whoa, whoa, now what's wrong with that?

[00:14:21] No one took offense to that?

[00:14:23] But I can't have a priest sending out the pictures of the dogs dressed...

[00:14:27] Okay, that is...

[00:14:28] Yeah, that's...

[00:14:29] That is...

[00:14:30] I don't agree with the dressing up of the dogs, especially in matching outfits.

[00:14:37] Nobody else got mad at that?

[00:14:38] There's like a whole culture out there of dressing up dogs and cats and such.

[00:14:43] We haven't heard from any of them.

[00:14:45] By the way, I am open to the idea that a punishment to him, on him, whatever, for these comments,

[00:14:55] I am open to the idea of banning the whole Kansas City Chiefs football team from the

[00:15:02] next two seasons.

[00:15:04] Or maybe giving up a whole bunch of draft picks and such?

[00:15:07] I think I'm alright with that.

[00:15:08] Alright, so you can hear at the beginning of Harrison Butker's address to Benedictine

[00:15:16] College, which is a traditionalist Catholic institution.

[00:15:20] So this is like he's talking to his fellow Catholics.

[00:15:24] And he starts off very critical of church leadership.

[00:15:29] And Jose Maria Escriva states that priests are ordained to serve and should not yield

[00:15:33] to temptation to imitate laypeople, but to be priests through and through.

[00:15:38] Tragically, so many priests revolve much of their happiness from the adulation they receive

[00:15:43] from their parishioners.

[00:15:45] And in searching for this, they let their guard down and become overly familiar.

[00:15:49] This undue familiarity will prove to be problematic every time because as my teammate's girlfriend

[00:15:55] says, familiarity breeds contempt.

[00:16:04] Do not speak her name!

[00:16:09] That's got the Swifties all upset.

[00:16:12] How dare you even make reference to Taylor Swift in this abomination of a speech?

[00:16:22] Next up, he says church leaders have fled leadership.

[00:16:27] Well, their responsibilities, let me say.

[00:16:30] They haven't left their posts, but they have fled their responsibilities due to fear.

[00:16:35] And Catholics suffer when they do.

[00:16:38] And he cites as one of the examples the leadership of the church during the COVID pandemic.

[00:16:44] The chaos of the world is unfortunately reflected in the chaos in our parishes and sadly in

[00:16:50] our cathedrals too.

[00:16:53] As we saw during the pandemic, too many bishops were not leaders at all.

[00:16:57] They were motivated by fear.

[00:16:58] Fear of being sued.

[00:17:00] Fear of being removed.

[00:17:01] Fear of being disliked.

[00:17:03] They showed by their actions, intentional or unintentional, that the sacraments don't actually matter.

[00:17:09] Because of this, countless people died alone without access to the sacraments.

[00:17:13] And it's a tragedy we must never forget.

[00:17:16] As Catholics, we can look to so many examples of heroic shepherds who gave their lives for

[00:17:20] their people and ultimately the church.

[00:17:24] We cannot buy into the lie that the things we experienced during COVID were appropriate.

[00:17:29] Over the centuries, there have been great wars, great famines, and yes, even great diseases.

[00:17:35] All that came with a level of lethality and danger.

[00:17:38] But in each of those examples, church leaders leaned into their vocations and ensured that

[00:17:43] their people received the sacraments.

[00:17:46] Leaning into your vocation.

[00:17:49] This was a recurring theme throughout his commencement address.

[00:17:53] And the reason I'm going over this stuff is because the media has ignored virtually all

[00:17:57] of his speech, save for about 10 to 15 seconds of sound bites that they have decided they've

[00:18:06] chosen to stir the pot over and to be outraged about and to drive engagement of their websites

[00:18:12] and such.

[00:18:13] The media has ignored that he was most critical of his own church leadership.

[00:18:19] Today, our shepherds are far more concerned with keeping the doors open to the chancery

[00:18:23] than they are with saying the difficult stuff out loud.

[00:18:26] It seems that the only time you hear from your bishops is when it's time for the annual

[00:18:30] appeal.

[00:18:31] Whereas we need our bishops to be vocal about the teachings of the church, setting aside

[00:18:35] their own personal comfort and embracing their cross.

[00:18:38] Our bishops are not politicians but shepherds.

[00:18:41] So instead of fitting in the world by going along to get along, they too need to stay

[00:18:46] in their lane and lead.

[00:18:48] I say all of this not from a place of anger, as we get the leaders we deserve.

[00:18:53] But this does make me reflect on staying in my lane and focusing on my own vocation and

[00:18:58] how I can be a better father and husband and live in the world but not be of it.

[00:19:04] Focusing on my vocation while praying and fasting for these men will do more for the

[00:19:08] church than me complaining about her leaders.

[00:19:12] Because there seems to be so much confusion coming from our leaders, there needs to be

[00:19:16] concrete examples for people to look to in places like Benedictine, a little Kansas college

[00:19:21] built high on a bluff above the Missouri River, are showing the world how an ordered, Christ-centered

[00:19:27] existence is the recipe for success.

[00:19:30] So this is one of the things he taps into, and he refers a couple times to it, is making

[00:19:34] order of the chaos.

[00:19:37] And I think this is why now his jersey is like the top-selling jersey at the NFL shop

[00:19:43] online.

[00:19:45] So many people are trying to find order in the chaos all around them.

[00:19:50] And the chaos is on purpose, of course.

[00:19:55] And so he keeps bringing this home, that there is order in the Catholic Church, there is

[00:20:00] order in Christianity, there is order in the traditions.

[00:20:07] And then he praises Benedictine College for its mission and its ascendancy, its growth.

[00:20:15] And then he says this line that gets everybody all upset because,

[00:20:21] how dare you talk about, not just Taylor Swift, but LGBTQ plus 2 IA2SL issues.

[00:20:29] In a deliberate movement to embrace traditional Catholic values, Benedictine has gone from

[00:20:34] just another liberal arts school with nothing to set it apart to a thriving beacon of light

[00:20:39] and a reminder to us all that when you embrace tradition, success, worldly and spiritual,

[00:20:44] will follow.

[00:20:46] I am certain the reporters at the AP could not have imagined that their attempt to rebuke

[00:20:51] and embarrass places and people like those here at Benedictine wouldn't be met with

[00:20:55] anger, but instead met with excitement and pride.

[00:20:58] Not the deadly sin sort of pride that has an entire month dedicated to it, but the true

[00:21:03] God-centered pride that is cooperating with the Holy Ghost to glorify him.

[00:21:09] Reading that article now shared all over the world, we see that in the complete surrender

[00:21:13] of self and a turning towards Christ, you will find happiness.

[00:21:19] Oh, sorry.

[00:21:21] Do not speak of the month of June and pride.

[00:21:29] All right.

[00:21:30] Yeah, no, like it's a joke.

[00:21:32] He made a joke.

[00:21:33] He's talking about pride being a sin, which is one of the seven deadly sins, right?

[00:21:39] And then also ties it into the pride month, June next month.

[00:21:43] And how dare you have that opinion?

[00:21:48] And that's really what people are saying.

[00:21:50] How dare you have that kind of an opinion?

[00:21:53] That's a double plus on good opinion.

[00:21:56] He then offered advice on finding success and happiness in the world.

[00:22:01] Being locked in with your vocation and staying in your lane is going to be the surest way

[00:22:05] for you to find true happiness and peace in this life.

[00:22:09] It is essential that we focus on our own state in life, whether that be as a layperson,

[00:22:13] a priest or religious.

[00:22:16] Ladies and gentlemen of the class of 2024, you are sitting at the edge of the rest

[00:22:20] of your lives.

[00:22:21] Each of you has the potential to leave a legacy that transcends yourselves

[00:22:25] and this era of human existence in the small ways by living out your vocation.

[00:22:30] You will ensure that God's church continues and the world is enlightened

[00:22:34] by your example.

[00:22:36] All right.

[00:22:37] Now, if you remember what I think it was Monday when we ran clips of Jerry Seinfeld's

[00:22:42] address, right?

[00:22:44] He had a different message and that's okay.

[00:22:47] That's okay.

[00:22:48] It was a different school talking to a different population and Jerry Seinfeld,

[00:22:52] a different guy than this kicker, right?

[00:22:54] It's all okay.

[00:22:56] I don't understand why everybody has to get so outraged over somebody else having

[00:23:00] a different opinion.

[00:23:01] By the way, if you are on the Twitter machine, a point of personal privilege,

[00:23:07] if I may, if you wouldn't mind, go on over to Twitter and look up a an account

[00:23:15] and report it for me.

[00:23:17] They are pretending to be me.

[00:23:19] The account name is at Pet Calendar.

[00:23:23] They left out the E and then they've they put my picture.

[00:23:26] They've they copied my entire profile.

[00:23:30] I got them on the ropes right now.

[00:23:32] They're temporarily suspended.

[00:23:33] So the more people that can report them as an imposter account, that would be helpful.

[00:23:38] I think because I've seen some people that had this happen to them and Twitter for

[00:23:42] some reason says no, that's not impersonating you like what they literally copied your

[00:23:48] entire profile and the worst and what happens then is that people think they're

[00:23:52] following me.

[00:23:54] And because what the account will do is it goes in and it follows people that

[00:24:00] already follow me.

[00:24:04] Those people then get notified.

[00:24:06] Oh, Pet Calendar is following you and they don't read it.

[00:24:10] They see it very quickly.

[00:24:11] So they click follow back.

[00:24:13] And so they're built.

[00:24:14] They're using my profile to build up a fake account, a spam account.

[00:24:18] I don't know if it's a politically motivated thing.

[00:24:21] They haven't tweeted anything yet.

[00:24:22] So I don't know.

[00:24:23] It could just be a spam bot kind of operation.

[00:24:27] So either way, it's not good.

[00:24:29] So if you could help me out there, I appreciate that.

[00:24:34] Rich Lowry at National Review.

[00:24:37] Points out that the NFL has distanced itself from Butgers unadorned socially

[00:24:42] conservative speech at Benedictine College, a Catholic school in Kansas.

[00:24:48] By the way, the Benedictine order, that's the same order as Belmont Abbey and it

[00:24:54] is known as one of the more conservative orders, although they do brew beer.

[00:24:59] Anyway, he's accused of potentially driving women away from the NFL and even

[00:25:05] worse, perhaps offending Taylor Swift by quoting one of her lyrics.

[00:25:11] Really?

[00:25:12] Okay, come on.

[00:25:13] Familiarity breeds contempt like that's that's not a Taylor Swift line that's

[00:25:20] been around for a long time.

[00:25:22] Okay.

[00:25:24] The first thing to say about this says Rich Lowry is that Butger is a

[00:25:28] traditionalist Catholic giving a speech to a traditionalist Catholic student

[00:25:33] body graduating from a traditionalist Catholic school.

[00:25:36] So should we really be surprised that he sounded a lot like a traditionalist

[00:25:41] Catholic?

[00:25:43] He wasn't going to endorse abortion or Pride Month or transgenderism.

[00:25:47] And if you are not a Catholic, Lowry says, I'm not his views on priests and the

[00:25:52] power of the Latin mass are going to leave you cold for one simple reason.

[00:25:56] They aren't for us.

[00:25:58] Right?

[00:25:59] So how is it that non Catholics could hear the speech and not be offended by it?

[00:26:05] He says leaves us cold, but not not that like you're in opposition to it.

[00:26:10] Just it doesn't ring true for you.

[00:26:11] It doesn't doesn't warm the cockles of your heart, right?

[00:26:15] It doesn't attract you.

[00:26:17] It's not resonating with you.

[00:26:19] But you weren't saying how dare you?

[00:26:22] You know, it's not inspiring that kind of a response.

[00:26:24] His line that has drawn the most fire was directed at graduating women.

[00:26:30] But for some reason, leftists think it's about that.

[00:26:34] Well, okay.

[00:26:35] Well, actually, that makes sense.

[00:26:36] Let this think everything is about them because it's raging narcissistic in its

[00:26:39] ideology.

[00:26:40] But he says to the ladies and I've got this audio will rack it up at the

[00:26:44] beginning of the next hour.

[00:26:46] He says, some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I

[00:26:49] would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your

[00:26:53] marriage and the children you will bring into this world.

[00:26:56] Oh, sorry.

[00:27:03] How dare you?

[00:27:06] Right.

[00:27:08] Think and think about the couching that he does here.

[00:27:12] Some of you may go on to lead successful careers, but I would venture to guess.

[00:27:18] So he's not stating all of you women, you know, you know, he's saying some of you

[00:27:24] may go into a professional career, but I would guess just taking a guess, just

[00:27:29] spitball in here that that the majority of you, not all of you, but the majority

[00:27:34] are probably most excited, not about the career path, but about your future life

[00:27:39] with your husband and kids and.

[00:27:42] And doing that, but there was surely making a sociologically true statement

[00:27:49] about the women in that audience.

[00:27:53] If he had been talking at Vassar, he may have couched his remarks differently.

[00:28:01] Even so.

[00:28:03] His observation has a more general applicability, according to an analysis of

[00:28:08] public opinion surveys by the Institute for Family Studies, strong majorities of

[00:28:12] mothers under the age of 55 agree that housework is a is as fulfilling as employment is.

[00:28:21] Did you know that?

[00:28:23] Majorities of women of mothers under the age of 55 say housework is just as fulfilling

[00:28:29] as employment is.

[00:28:31] I cannot speak to the truth or or or falsity of that.

[00:28:34] I don't know that.

[00:28:35] I'm just telling you what the Institute for Family Studies has found in its public opinion surveys.

[00:28:43] Depending on the year and the survey you want to cite, anywhere from 53 percent all the way up to

[00:28:48] 79 percent of mothers hold that view.

[00:28:50] Yes, some mothers find employment outside the home to be more fulfilling, but many stay-at-home moms

[00:28:55] quote see the work they are doing as valuable, important and satisfying.

[00:28:59] And you know what?

[00:29:01] That should be OK.

[00:29:03] That should be OK.

[00:29:05] For somebody to occasionally give voice to this perspective.

[00:29:09] It's a majority view among women.

[00:29:12] With kids, moms with kids over the age of 55.

[00:29:15] Like it's OK to say this.

[00:29:18] There's nothing.

[00:29:20] There's nothing awful about holding that opinion, which apparently a majority of the mothers over the age of 55 hold.

[00:29:25] All right. That'll do it for this episode.

[00:29:27] Thank you so much for listening.
