This episode is presented by Create A Video – Jonathan V. Last - a NeverTrumper - says Democrats should have packed the Supreme Court and made Washington, DC a state in order to prevent Trump from winning the election.

[00:00:28] In Texas, there's a county called Star County. And the population there is 65,920. 97% Hispanic. In 2016, Hillary Clinton carried that county by 60 points. In 2020, Joe Biden carried Star County, Texas by 5 points.
[00:00:54] And this week, Donald Trump carried that county by 16. A 97% Hispanic county went for Trump by 16 points. Democrats got some figuring out to do. Why did Harris lose the election? Politico's story. Quote, we ran the best campaign we could, considering Joe Biden was president.
[00:01:26] That is according to one Harris aide, granted anonymity to speak freely.
[00:01:36] It's not our fault. It was Joe. Joe Biden is the singular reason Kamala Harris and Democrats lost tonight, said this person.
[00:01:46] Another Harris aide, another Harris aide, also anonymous, said it was clear that Biden should have made a graceful exit much, much sooner, allowing Democrats to hold the primary they believed Harris would have won.
[00:01:58] So in this alternate reality that they are living in, right, where Joe Biden's cognitive decline was known by people closest to him, like Kamala Harris.
[00:02:12] Right, that people would have forced him out prior to the disastrous debate performance.
[00:02:19] And then they could have had a real legit primary, which she totally would have won because she was so awesome in her first run for president in 2019, which she had to actually exit before any actual primaries were held because she was doing so poorly.
[00:02:39] But she totally would have won this time around. So resounding was the thumping that some of the party next the some of the party's next generation leaders were signaling the need for a deep autopsy of the party's failures to stop the red wave.
[00:02:57] Quote, this is not just someone using this to explain their priors, right?
[00:03:06] This is pretty systematic, said Democratic Representative Brendan Boyle of Philadelphia.
[00:03:12] Quote, this is a solid Republican victory and the largest Republican victory by a presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan in 1984 in Pennsylvania.
[00:03:23] I don't think any Democrat who wants to improve upon this situation should sugarcoat this.
[00:03:34] I wonder if she had picked Josh Shapiro, if things would have been different.
[00:03:41] Governor of Pennsylvania, more of a moderate guy, supposedly.
[00:03:46] I mean, for a Democrat, but.
[00:03:48] Had crossover appeal, you know, wasn't Tim Walls and all that baggage that Walls brought.
[00:03:55] Does make you wonder.
[00:03:57] But then it also makes you question why she didn't pick him in the first place.
[00:04:02] Was it his Jewishness?
[00:04:05] She didn't want to alienate the the pro Hamas crowd inside her base.
[00:04:12] Was that it?
[00:04:13] Were there were there so many anti-Semites inside the Democrat Party?
[00:04:19] Coalition that she couldn't do it.
[00:04:21] Was that why?
[00:04:23] Which, by the way, she lost Dearborn, Michigan.
[00:04:26] She went for.
[00:04:27] Yeah, she lost that went to Trump.
[00:04:32] Organizing was supposed to be where Democrats had a clear edge.
[00:04:36] It wasn't the only department, though.
[00:04:39] Under the radar that was falling short of expectations.
[00:04:43] Politico reports.
[00:04:44] In a shortened race where the two candidates' daily activities often overshadowed mechanics,
[00:04:51] Harris went weeks running even with or even trailing Trump on TV and on streaming services.
[00:04:57] Indeed, the freewheeling and unstrategic Trump seemed to mask the quieter and yet ultimately
[00:05:05] effective campaign that his advisors were waging in ads that battered Harris for days on end
[00:05:11] without responses.
[00:05:15] Do you remember seeing the one that Trump was running on a bunch of the digital platforms?
[00:05:22] Harris is for they them.
[00:05:25] Trump is for you.
[00:05:28] It was a devastating ad.
[00:05:30] Using her own words in her own appearance where she talked about giving transgender surgeries to inmates
[00:05:40] and how she did that.
[00:05:42] How she's the reason why that's allowed.
[00:05:45] Democrats led by the Future Forward PAC.
[00:05:48] You've heard that name, I'm sure.
[00:05:50] FF PAC.
[00:05:51] They launched unprecedented spending into battlegrounds with a focus on Harris as a middle class warrior.
[00:05:56] Oh, wait a minute.
[00:05:58] Wait, was she from the middle class?
[00:05:59] Did she grow up middle class?
[00:06:01] I did not know that.
[00:06:02] That would have changed everything.
[00:06:03] See, if I had known she had grown up middle class, surrounded by people who took care of their yards,
[00:06:09] like maybe I would have voted for her.
[00:06:11] Hmm.
[00:06:12] That was a missed opportunity.
[00:06:13] Trump and his allies spent tens of millions of dollars on spots that left a more visceral mark,
[00:06:19] such as those featuring Harris's support for providing taxpayer-funded gender transition-related medical care.
[00:06:29] They still don't get it.
[00:06:31] They still, media, political, you guys still don't get it.
[00:06:35] You're still using these kinds of euphemisms.
[00:06:40] Taxpayer-funded gender transition-related medical care.
[00:06:45] Yeah.
[00:06:46] For detained immigrants and federal prisoners, others captured her unwillingness to separate herself from Joe Biden.
[00:06:54] She had just more than 100 days to mount a campaign, something viewed by Democrats who know her best as an advantage.
[00:06:59] See, now they're saying it was a disadvantage.
[00:07:02] But remember, at the time, they were like, this is really going to benefit her.
[00:07:06] She only has to run for 100 days.
[00:07:08] And then they kept her out of the media spotlight, you know, no interviews, just doing the campaign stump speeches.
[00:07:13] I talked about this at the time.
[00:07:15] I said this is because she has a history, a record, a reputation for not doing the homework, right?
[00:07:22] She doesn't learn the messaging.
[00:07:24] And that's why she ends up going to these, you would think, like safe interview opportunities.
[00:07:30] She's like going to talk to some kids about space or whatever at like a museum.
[00:07:35] And it's supposed to just be a photo op for the Veep.
[00:07:38] And she ends up saying just stupid stuff because she has she didn't do the homework.
[00:07:42] She didn't prep ahead of time.
[00:07:44] And so she shows up there.
[00:07:46] And rather than looking natural, she looks unprepared and silly.
[00:07:51] And she speaks in these word salads.
[00:07:53] So they're like, OK, we're just going to run campaign events.
[00:07:57] We're going to put her words up on a monitor in front of her.
[00:07:59] Just read off of that.
[00:08:00] And then eventually she will have committed this stuff to memory.
[00:08:04] And it worked.
[00:08:05] That strategy worked.
[00:08:07] The problem is that's all she had in her head.
[00:08:11] So when you get asked a question and you don't know how to respond, you start trying to pull from the teleprompter.
[00:08:19] Right.
[00:08:20] Stuff that's just stuck into your brain because you've said it so many times and then it comes across as rehearsed.
[00:08:26] She's a terrible candidate.
[00:08:28] She was in 2019, 2020 during that presidential run.
[00:08:33] She was a terrible candidate when she got named Veep and she was a terrible candidate.
[00:08:37] Now, that's why they were like, oh, 100 days.
[00:08:39] We could totally pull this off.
[00:08:41] She will be the empty vessel candidate.
[00:08:44] Right.
[00:08:45] They thought this was her advantage.
[00:08:46] It would free her from an ideologically packed, contested primary and the rigors of a protracted general election campaign.
[00:08:56] And that was the problem.
[00:08:59] That's what I mean.
[00:09:00] Candidates matter.
[00:09:02] The abilities of a candidate matter.
[00:09:05] You know, stories are powerful.
[00:09:07] They help us make sense of things to understand experiences.
[00:09:10] Stories connect us to the people of our past while transcending generations.

[00:10:08] Let's go over and talk with Terry.
[00:10:10] Hello, Terry.
[00:10:10] Welcome to the show.
[00:10:12] Hey, Pete.
[00:10:13] Thanks for having me on.
[00:10:15] Yes, sir.
[00:10:15] I listen to you every day.
[00:10:17] Thank you.
[00:10:18] Just like Brett.
[00:10:18] I mean, I listen to Brett, too.
[00:10:21] I mean, it's not a contest, Terry.
[00:10:23] It's not a contest.
[00:10:23] But if you had to choose, who would you choose?
[00:10:25] I don't know.
[00:10:25] Who would you choose?
[00:10:26] It's perfect.
[00:10:27] It's perfect entertainment for a retired person like myself, okay?
[00:10:31] Okay.
[00:10:34] I was just wondering if you heard any of the opening monologue of last night's 11 p.m. talk shows on CBS, NBC, or...
[00:10:44] I did see Jimmy Kimmel crying.
[00:10:47] And I saw Stephen Colbert cussing.
[00:10:53] Well, I was...
[00:10:54] Because I was thinking, those monkeys that escaped from the South Carolina facility, I think one I made from New York City, and I think his name was Colbert.
[00:11:08] Terry, thank you, sir.
[00:11:11] I appreciate it.
[00:11:12] All right.
[00:11:13] So, Terry is talking about authorities in South Carolina are warning residents to lock their doors and windows after more than 40 monkeys escaped from a research facility last night.
[00:11:26] The primates broke loose from an alpha genesis facility in Beaufort County, or Beaufort County.
[00:11:33] I never remember which one is which.
[00:11:36] Traps have been set up.
[00:11:38] Thermal imaging cameras are being used in an effort to locate the fugitive monkeys.
[00:11:43] In an update posted today, police confirmed 43 rhesus macaw primates escaped.
[00:11:51] None have been captured as of the mid-morning.
[00:11:54] One researcher said, quote,
[00:11:55] Perhaps it was a bad idea to breed monkeys with genetic codes that gave them the inherent knowledge of how to break out of cages and research facilities.
[00:12:04] I'm just kidding.
[00:12:05] I made that quote up.
[00:12:08] We taught them how to open locks and escape from our facility.
[00:12:14] And then they opened their locks and escaped from our facility.
[00:12:18] Planet of the Apes.
[00:12:19] Right?
[00:12:20] How that started?
[00:12:21] I think so.
[00:12:22] And the 12 Monkeys documentary with Brad Pitt.
[00:12:27] Right?
[00:12:28] Sorry, I'm just kind of thinking through.
[00:12:30] Like, are we in the prequel?
[00:12:32] Is this?
[00:12:33] Like, because at some point, guys, like, nobody's going to believe the scripts on these shows anymore.
[00:12:38] You know?
[00:12:39] Like, it's getting too ridiculous.
[00:12:41] It's like when the show introduces a baby.
[00:12:44] You know?
[00:12:44] When the sitcom brings a baby into the cast and it's like, all right, this show's done.
[00:12:49] It's always the case.
[00:12:50] Whenever they bring a baby in, then it's like, this show's over.
[00:12:54] It's like jumping the shark.
[00:12:55] You know?
[00:12:58] Um.
[00:13:00] I have another clip to play.
[00:13:01] It's a bunch of never Trumpers.
[00:13:04] Uh.
[00:13:04] At the Bulwark.
[00:13:06] The Bulwalkers.
[00:13:08] Um.
[00:13:08] I will do that after the news.
[00:13:11] But there's a guy named Eric Contrarian on Twitter.
[00:13:14] And he says, this is what never Trumpers are really mad about.
[00:13:17] They spent 10 years telling everybody that Trump was turning the party into an irrelevant rural white party.
[00:13:22] Uh.
[00:13:23] When it was actually their candidates that just sucked.
[00:13:25] So.
[00:13:26] There you go.
[00:13:26] All right.
[00:13:27] So I think I cleaned this up.
[00:13:28] I think there was one cuss word that I had to cut out here.
[00:13:30] But have you heard of a guy named Jonathan Last?
[00:13:35] Just a word of advice.
[00:13:37] Never bet on him in a race.
[00:13:40] No.
[00:13:40] He is a never Trumper.
[00:13:42] He's with the Bulwark.
[00:13:43] Which was where a bunch of the never Trumpers went.
[00:13:46] Uh.
[00:13:46] To.
[00:13:47] Uh.
[00:13:47] You know.
[00:13:47] To.
[00:13:49] Bash Trump, basically.
[00:13:50] Um.
[00:13:51] And, you know, they've been funded by never Trump donors and such.
[00:13:55] And, um.
[00:13:56] You do have to admire the grift.
[00:13:58] I saw somebody commenting on this, like the, uh, the Lincoln Project guys.
[00:14:03] Like Rick Wilson.
[00:14:05] And the one that, like, made the moves on the young boys.
[00:14:08] But the, uh, the Lincoln Project.
[00:14:11] Um.
[00:14:12] They have siphoned.
[00:14:15] Millions of dollars.
[00:14:18] From Democrat donors.
[00:14:20] Millions of dollars.
[00:14:21] To produce ads.
[00:14:23] That appeal to nobody except.
[00:14:26] Hardcore leftists.
[00:14:30] Now.
[00:14:31] And they're never Trumpers.
[00:14:32] These guys.
[00:14:32] They, they rip Trump all the time.
[00:14:35] But think about the brilliance of that grift.
[00:14:39] Right.
[00:14:39] After having worked on Republican campaigns for years and years and years.
[00:14:43] Losing all the time.
[00:14:44] They've now shifted their focus because they're the true conservatives.
[00:14:48] And they're attacking Trump.
[00:14:51] And they're siphoning all these millions away from Democrat donors to make these ads that don't move the needle for anybody other than the people that already hate Trump.
[00:15:01] That is brilliant.
[00:15:03] Right.
[00:15:04] I mean, that's like seven dimensional chess right there.
[00:15:07] You're taking Democrat donor money that otherwise would have been used for actually effective ads.
[00:15:14] And you're putting it into this organization of people that can't make any money in the current iteration of the GOP.
[00:15:23] And so they rebrand themselves.
[00:15:25] And you're like, yes, Lincoln Project, we love you.
[00:15:28] And you're basically just, you know, as this, uh, this guy said on Twitter earlier today that like you're, they've just paid for their beach houses.
[00:15:35] That's brilliant.
[00:15:37] I don't have the mind for that stuff.
[00:15:39] You know, like I just, I never think like that, but it's a really, so I don't know if that's happening with the bulwark.
[00:15:45] Um, but, uh, here is, uh, one of the things that Jonathan last said at the end of a podcast, um, that they were doing with a bunch of people.
[00:15:54] Um, what's his face?
[00:15:55] Bill Crystal was in on this call.
[00:15:57] Tim Miller was there.
[00:15:59] Sarah Longwell.
[00:15:59] So, uh, the voice that you're going to hear though, is Jonathan last Jonathan V last JBL.
[00:16:04] And he says, this is his recommendation.
[00:16:08] For, or I guess his, uh, his postmortem, his assessment on election night as to, um, why the Democrats weren't doing so well.
[00:16:16] And his, his belief here is that, uh, they needed to be more radical.
[00:16:21] That's really why they dropped the ball was that they weren't radical enough.
[00:16:27] I have always thought it was a coin flip election.
[00:16:30] I never imagined that Trump could win a resounding victory.
[00:16:35] Right.
[00:16:36] The way he has tonight.
[00:16:38] JBL.
[00:16:39] This is one more imagination.
[00:16:41] Bill and news outlets.
[00:16:42] He hasn't won the resounding victory.
[00:16:44] It looks like he's going to, I think.
[00:16:46] He's, he's, he's going to win the popular vote.
[00:16:50] He's going to win a larger, he's going to win a larger share of the electoral college than he did in 2016.
[00:16:57] I, I, I, this is again, this is something that I absolutely failed to imagine was possible.
[00:17:04] Uh, and what this speaks to is a structural failure of the Biden administration, which approached the moment of authoritarian, the Biden administration approached the authoritarian attempt with the idea that like, we're going to fake it until we make it.
[00:17:26] And we're going to, we're going to get back to politics as normal by doing politics as normal.
[00:17:33] What?
[00:17:33] We are going, I don't even know what he's saying.
[00:17:39] He's just like, he's just like vomiting slogans and axioms and such that don't make any sense.
[00:17:47] We're going to fake it till we make it.
[00:17:49] What does that mean?
[00:17:52] Well, I think, I think he's going to give us a little bit of a peek behind the curtain here, folks.
[00:17:56] Going to do a whole bunch of popular legislation.
[00:17:59] We're going to work with Republicans.
[00:18:01] We're going to try to help red states.
[00:18:03] We are, we're going to let the attorney general do whatever the he wants.
[00:18:06] And we are never going to look crosswise at him because we're not going to politicize anything.
[00:18:11] Right.
[00:18:12] That right.
[00:18:12] That's what we all remember.
[00:18:14] Right.
[00:18:14] Merrick Garland, non-political, total non-politicization of the DOJ.
[00:18:20] Right.
[00:18:21] Right.
[00:18:22] Yeah.
[00:18:23] Yeah.
[00:18:24] And if we just act normal enough, everything will go back to being normal.
[00:18:29] Mm-hmm.
[00:18:29] Yeah.
[00:18:30] And it turns out that the hour was already later than anybody realized in 2020.
[00:18:36] Well, anybody?
[00:18:37] I don't know.
[00:18:38] I kind of feel like that's all we've been hearing is that Donald Trump's an authoritarian.
[00:18:42] Donald Trump's a fascist.
[00:18:44] He's Hitler and all this.
[00:18:45] I kind of feel like people were beating that drum for like, I don't know, eight years.
[00:18:48] What they should have done was they should have been quite radical.
[00:18:52] Oh.
[00:18:53] They should have made D.C. a state.
[00:18:55] They should have actually expanded the Supreme Court.
[00:18:58] They should have done a whole bunch of stuff that would have been deeply unpopular and would
[00:19:02] have caused enormous Democratic losses, but would have restructured the framework in such
[00:19:09] a way as to make it harder for the next authoritarian attempt.
[00:19:14] And this is, I think, the lesson Democrats will have to take from this is not going to be like,
[00:19:22] oh, well, we can't be PC or whatever.
[00:19:24] They're going to take from this that what they need is their own strongmen.
[00:19:30] And I don't know that I could sit here and tell them that they're wrong.
[00:19:34] I mean, Kamala Harris went around the country with Liz Cheney doing an outreach to Nikki Haley Republicans.
[00:19:39] And she was given a stiff arm by the voters for that.
[00:19:45] They're not interested in outreach.
[00:19:51] I used to read Jonathan last.
[00:19:55] I've interviewed this guy.
[00:19:56] I had him on the show years ago when he wrote a book, and it was a good book.
[00:19:59] And I used to enjoy his writings.
[00:20:01] But this, like, either this is a deep, long con grift or, like, dude, you need to find something else to do
[00:20:13] because you obviously don't know what you're talking about anymore if you ever did.
[00:20:19] Like, oh, I can't believe that these Nikki Haley supporters stiff-armed Liz Cheney.
[00:20:25] How many did you think there were?
[00:20:27] Did you not see the primary?
[00:20:29] Did you not witness how soundly she was rejected by Republican voters?
[00:20:35] Like, why do you think, what do you think happened there?
[00:20:38] That's just, and your, your assessment is that the Democrats should have done all of the radical things that they have said.
[00:20:47] And that's not to protect against authoritarianism.
[00:20:50] It is to assert control by them.
[00:20:54] How do you not see that?
[00:20:55] It's crazy.
[00:20:57] Gosh, I wonder why nobody listens to you.
[00:20:59] No, actually, I understand.
[00:21:00] I will get to some of these emails.
[00:21:01] In fact, here's one right now.
[00:21:03] It's a Pete mail.
[00:21:04] From Joseph, who says,
[00:21:06] Pete, have any of the usual haters like Mike or Sean called in?
[00:21:11] I'm afraid I missed him.
[00:21:13] This is all I care about.
[00:21:14] Thank you.
[00:21:17] No, I haven't heard.
[00:21:19] Haven't heard.
[00:21:20] For some reason, I don't know.
[00:21:21] I don't know why.
[00:21:24] All right.
[00:21:24] So let's go to the phones here.
[00:21:26] I got some random topics, I guess.
[00:21:28] Scott.
[00:21:28] Hello, Scott.
[00:21:29] Welcome to the show.
[00:21:30] Pete, how are you?
[00:21:31] Hey, I'm all right.
[00:21:31] I really love your show because you have such great historical connections to Charlotte.
[00:21:37] You bring such great stories from the past.
[00:21:39] I just wanted to circle back around since Sheriff McFadden's in the news.
[00:21:45] And let you and your listeners know that he has a well-instoried history with CMPD.
[00:21:53] At one point, he had a TV show, which was kind of cool, actually.
[00:21:57] Yeah, it was called I Am Homicide.
[00:22:01] Literally, that was the name of it.
[00:22:02] Because that's what he said to people when he would go and show up to investigate murders.
[00:22:07] That's what they would call him.
[00:22:08] And so he just started, I guess he just adopted that name and he would call himself Homicide.
[00:22:13] Well, he also unofficially worked as a chauffeur for Chief Rodney Monroe, mostly because Chief
[00:22:22] Rodney had crashed too many cars that he couldn't drive himself.
[00:22:27] But the skinny was that he was such a miserable homicide detective that that was the best place for him to be, was a chauffeur for Chief Rodney Monroe.
[00:22:38] That's just what I wanted to tell you.
[00:22:39] Well, and I recall, if I recall correctly, didn't he get...
[00:22:43] He couldn't testify at some point, right?
[00:22:46] Right?
[00:22:47] He had giggly-oed.
[00:22:48] No, I don't know that for a fact, but I've heard that too.
[00:22:50] Yeah, that's what I heard, or something to do with, like, when he was leaving, that he may have taken some files or something.
[00:22:56] But he would never discuss it.
[00:22:57] He would never talk about whatever personnel demerits he got.
[00:23:02] And it came up during the debate in his run, what, three years ago, two years ago, for re-election.
[00:23:09] And I remember, I'll never forget, he said that you can't...
[00:23:12] He won't talk about any of the negative stuff unless you're willing to talk about all the positives of his entire career.
[00:23:20] Well, that's positive.
[00:23:21] He's a pretty terrible sheriff.
[00:23:23] I waited 11 months for consideration for a conceal and carry during COVID.
[00:23:28] And I just couldn't even fathom that it would take 11 months to do something that every other county in the state takes about two weeks.
[00:23:35] Right, almost like it was intentional.
[00:23:38] You think?
[00:23:39] Yeah, well, maybe that's...
[00:23:40] I think that might be actually why he got sued twice and told to stop slow-walking all of the permits and then promised to make it better and then didn't.
[00:23:51] And so he got sued for the second time there.
[00:23:53] Yeah.
[00:23:54] Yeah, he's just...
[00:23:54] He's terrible.
[00:23:55] He's a terrible...
[00:23:56] I call him Not My Fault McFadden for a reason.
[00:23:58] Yeah.
[00:23:59] So nobody surprises Chief Quitt verbally with a lot of bad press.
[00:24:06] So I am looking forward to 4 o'clock because apparently WBTV is going to be releasing the audio that was recorded of McFadden going off on one or more of his tirades
[00:24:22] where apparently he made allegedly racist comments.
[00:24:27] Oh, I had no idea.
[00:24:29] You're welcome.
[00:24:30] I'm glad I did a promo for it.
[00:24:32] There you go.
[00:24:33] Scott, I appreciate the call.
[00:24:35] Yeah, I mean, that's completely shocking.
[00:24:40] Never would have guessed that the guy who set up checkpoints and speed traps in North Mecklenburg as one of his first acts as sheriff because he wanted to write tickets for white people.
[00:24:53] I never would have thought that he may be harboring some malintent.
[00:24:57] You know, it's just completely out of the blue.
[00:25:03] Spencer, welcome to the program.
[00:25:05] Hello, Spencer.
[00:25:06] How are you, sir?
[00:25:08] Doing fine, Pete.
[00:25:09] Good.
[00:25:09] I'm glad to hear that.
[00:25:11] They're both spelled identically, but it's Buford, South Carolina and Beaufort, North Carolina.
[00:25:20] The South Carolina sounds like they're putting a D on the end of it.
[00:25:24] Buford.
[00:25:26] And the North Carolina is Beaufort.
[00:25:30] So that's why I get them confused.
[00:25:32] What about B-U-F-O-R-D?
[00:25:35] I don't know.
[00:25:37] I think that's Buford.
[00:25:40] But down near Hilton Head, the thing that looks like Beaufort is pronounced Buford.
[00:25:48] See, I refuse to try to keep these straight.
[00:25:51] They're going to have to come to some sort of an agreement on this.
[00:25:55] I'm not responsible for pronouncing these places.
[00:25:59] Like, you can give me Mebin, and I will learn to pronounce Mebin correctly, right?
[00:26:04] Because there's only one Mebin.
[00:26:05] There's not another town in South Carolina that took the name Mebin and says, no, we're
[00:26:10] going to pronounce it Mebane.
[00:26:11] Like, they're not going to do it.
[00:26:12] They haven't done that.
[00:26:13] So there needs to be some sort of a treaty.
[00:26:18] Yeah, and then you get into Fuquay Verena.
[00:26:21] See, but even there, there's not another Fuquay Verena that I'm not going to try to make up
[00:26:26] another pronunciation for on an FCC license station.
[00:26:29] But, like, if they came up with, if they took that name, same spelling, and then pronounced
[00:26:34] it differently.
[00:26:35] Like, no, it's like in Atlanta.
[00:26:36] Do you know what they call Ponce de Leon Street in Atlanta?
[00:26:41] I got no idea.
[00:26:43] Ponce de Leon.
[00:26:45] Ponce de Leon.
[00:26:46] I've heard that.
[00:26:47] I've heard that.
[00:26:47] That's what they call it.
[00:26:48] It's not Ponce de Leon or Ponce de Leon.
[00:26:52] It's Ponce de Leon.
[00:26:53] He was an explorer.
[00:26:55] Anyway.
[00:26:56] Yeah.
[00:26:56] So, like, I'm not doing two pronunciations for the same spelling.
[00:26:59] Spencer, I appreciate the calling.
[00:27:01] Yeah, that's just my own rule.
[00:27:03] I live or die by it.
[00:27:04] All right, that'll do it for this episode.
[00:27:06] Thank you so much for listening.
[00:27:08] I could not do the show without your support and the support of the businesses that advertise
[00:27:12] on the podcast.
[00:27:13] So, if you'd like, please support them, too, and tell them you heard it here.
