This episode is presented by Simply NC Goods – Bill O'Reilly joins me to discuss his new book "Confronting the President: No Spin Assessments from Washington to Biden" and, in the wake of another assassination attempt on Donald Trump, how dangerous it is to be an American president.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_01]: forced to cover another
[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump by coincidence. I happen to be joined today by
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Bill OReilly his new book is called confronting the president's no spin assessments from Washington to Biden
[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Bill OReilly obviously the renowned broadcaster best-selling nonfiction author, I think 18 times over or something like that
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got 19 million books in print a host of the no spin news broadcast weeknights
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_01]: 8 p.m. Until or sorry and at 11 p.m. On the first TV a new media network
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: You can catch it on Roku Amazon fire Apple TV many others also the host of the O Reilly update heard on more than
[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: 225 radio stations and you can follow everything that he's doing at bill O Reilly comm Bill
[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the program
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_01]: You know if you keep doing so much your bio your intro is going to take up the entire segment
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you were really I don't know what does that now?
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And how you been I've been all right, I've been alright so I gotta ask you first off about the
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You know the the news
[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to the book here, obviously
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But so I mean is there anything in your research and doing this book and being the historian that you are
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: That have we seen stuff like this before to this extent that you're aware of
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: The United States always been a dangerous country and continues to be that now
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: We've had nine presidents
[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Attacked and
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Four were fatally killed
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So Lincoln Garfield McKinley JFK Ronald Reagan just barely survived
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: So we've had nine and Trump leaves the league with two
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So this is not anything new
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and it is new is the vitriol in the country itself
[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: not since the Civil War
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Has the hatred been this high and hatred of course fuels violence?
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So I
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Was surprised like everybody else yesterday. I can't say I'm I'm not surprised
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: That this guy would try it
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's a fairly routine story in the sense. It's the same old thing every one of the nine
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Assassination attempts on the president and you'll see because we go over every one of them in confronting the president's
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Were mentally unbalanced guys
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Never a woman. I'm sorry one exception the Manson follower with with four
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah as a woman squeaky from but they're all mentally unbalanced and there are just millions of Americans now
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Or mentally ill who are running around and anything could trigger them and that's what we're seeing
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: So you've heard the term stochastic terrorism. I'm assuming in this this idea that you know political rhetoric
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_01]: can lead to
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: violence
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: When you know misinterpreted by by the crazies
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you do you put any stock in that and if so does this seem like it would fit that example?
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's always been that way though here in America since John Adams ran against Thomas Jefferson
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: The only president that did he get it the hateful invective was Washington. He's the only one
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_00]: So the other 44 men all of them. I mean savage attacks
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Does that
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Light fuses? Yeah, it does
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think you need
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_00]: That kind of a thing all you need for crime to happen is
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_00]: a
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_00]: sociopath or a psychopath
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Just getting up one more. You know, I'm gonna do this. That's it
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Look, you know find out this guy and why you they a Secret Service
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Stopped
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Yesterday was just a loon you can see already
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: From his writings on the internet and the same thing with the guy in Butler, Pennsylvania
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: These are crazy people who don't want to live they know their lives are over by doing this
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey thing get away with it. They're not gonna get away with it. Um
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not good for the country to have so much hatred. That's for sure
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_00]: But is it?
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: A cause and effect I would say no
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So in your numbers there 40 45 presidents and you say nine of them had attempts on them
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And so that's like one out of five. That's those are not very good odds
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And they and there were a lot of
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: assassination
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Lots that were stopped for example, sir. I'm saying tried very hard to kill Bush the younger
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_00]: His father because his father, of course
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Defeated him in the first Gulf War and and those plots were foiled
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Iran would
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: absolutely wants to take Trump out and
[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_00]: The CIA and the NSA have been able to prevent that
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're gonna run for president, you're a target and I'm not saying that with any flippancy at all
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Kamala Harris is not believe me
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: They have to be all over her and same with Biden
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_00]: because the
[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Climate in this country is dangerous
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So, um, I think I've asked you this on one of your previous books as well
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: But how did you go about doing the research and you're you've been working with this fellow Martin Dugard as well
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So how did y'all go about doing the research and then sort of curating what makes it into the book and what what doesn't?
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_00]: What we wanted to do is provide a narrative of all
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_00]: 45 presidents and
[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Then let the reader
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Decide whether the president was good or bad for the country
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's what we honed in on the big things that happened
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: during the various administrations
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_00]: plus
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: What they were really like is people
[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Because public schools don't teach history anymore and we have a tendency to mythologize
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Presidents we didn't do that. We stripped it right down here. They are here's what they did
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's how they lived and here was the ultimate benefit or detriment to the country
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: So is it clear when you read confronting the president said James Buchanan
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Who came before Abraham Lincoln was by far the worst president that we have ever had?
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just clear because he could have tamped down the Civil War. He could have stopped it early, but he was a coward
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, and when Trump goes around going Biden's the worst president, that's not true. Trump doesn't care if it's true
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: He just wants to say that kind of stuff
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But the second worst president in our estimation my estimation is Joe Biden
[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Because he brought the problems to the country
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: He created the problems most of the failed presidents and about half of them were failures
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: They inherited problems and they couldn't solve a curb it over
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, the depression but Biden
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Not Congress not anybody else. He opened the border. He spurred inflation from 1.4 to 9 percent
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: He did it and so that's why I've got him is the second worst
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna ask you if you did rankings of these presidents and I don't rank them
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I did
[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_00]: State that in the
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Essays that we wrote on by I stated that that I felt that way. I
[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Feel that the reader has to know that
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: but
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't rank the presence want the reader to rank them. Mm-hmm
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: so in your estimation you've got Buchanan as though and I got it and that's the first one I've
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: First time I've heard Buchanan is ranked the worst. It makes sense though when you say it
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And Biden like if you have a group of like a couple of them best and worst in your mind in your estimation
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Not a ranking but like these are the guys that did the best for the country given the circumstances they got handed
[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you've got to get
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, Washington is behind Lincoln because Washington it did a magnificent job of forging
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The federal government and he had a lot of problems and you'll see what those problems were his mother didn't like him
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay FDR
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Made some pretty big mistakes
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: But boy, you know when you're handed the Depression and then World War two and we come out of
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The Depression and win World War two. He's got to be up there. Eddie Roosevelt was a magnificent president
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: James K. Pope nobody knows who he is
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: But he was responsible for having the United States go from Atlantic to Pacific
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_00]: His vision was incredible and he executed it. Well
[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_00]: so these are kinds of things you learn if you read the front of presence from
[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Cover to cover you will know more about American history than most PhDs
[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean given the state of higher academics today, I don't know if that's the
[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Bill O'Reilly the book is called confronting the president's no spin assessments from Washington to Biden
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You can get it at bill O'Reilly calm and follow along with all of the stuff that bill is doing bill
[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate your time as always. Good luck on the book. I
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciate you. I'm a and Pete good to talk to you. Yes, sir. Take care
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You know stories are powerful. They help us make sense of things to understand experiences
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Stories connect us to the people of our past while transcending generations
[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_01]: They help us process the meaning of life and our stories are told through images and videos

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_01]: They are your life told through the eyes of everyone around you and all who came before you and they will tell others
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Who you are visit create a video calm
[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_01]: All right. So who is Ryan Wesley?
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Routh or Ruth
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: route
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Routh whatever
[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_01]: the 58 year old man
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Accused of pointing an AK 47 at former President Donald Trump on Sunday afternoon
[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Has a prolific arrest record that spans several decades
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the things that I always
[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: That I always talk about in the wake of any of these types of events is
[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Beware of trusting first reports because
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Usually they are incorrect
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: right things become known later on after investigation and
[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Things that we thought were true. We're not turn out not to be true and then things that we
[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Did not know or thought were not true turn out to be so
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So I just urge people not to you know adopt a position and then let that harden into a belief
[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Right and now you have to defend the belief
[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to do that. You can you can approach it with, you know an open mind and say okay
[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Like what is the evidence right now?
[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_01]: suggest
[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_01]: my default
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Usually is as Bill O'Reilly just mentioned my default is crazy person
[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_01]: That because that's usually the case and for somebody to do what a lot of these shooters
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Do I would submit you must be?
[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: evil and or crazy
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Because that's not the actions of a normal person of a sane mind
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's where I that's sort of my baseline I start from that position
[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_01]: There is also you know when it comes to
[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Terrorism and I would submit that assassination is a form of terrorism although it's not
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_01]: textbook because it's not
[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Targeting, you know innocent civilians to affect the policy change. It's affecting a leader
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: But it is of the same family and there are you know, three types of people that do it there are criminals crazies and crusaders and
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: The criminals and crazies all seem to think that they're going to survive it
[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_01]: the crusaders generally do not
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_01]: so
[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: when it comes to this type of an event again, I
[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Default to crazy but I am open to
[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Evidence that suggests otherwise but so far it seems like the evidence that is
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Available looks like that is this this guy is this guy's nuts
[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And apparently has been for a while
[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_01]: He was arrested shortly after the incident at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_01]: authorities say Secret Service agents fired at him after seeing the muzzle of his
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: AK-47 pointing through a chain link fence one hole ahead of where Trump was playing so the Secret Service they
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're on a hole in front of Trump as he you know
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: makes his way around the course and so they go to the the next hole up and they they check it out and
[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Credit where it's due. Thank goodness. They I they could see a
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: gun barrel through the
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: hedges that are
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: up against the chain link fence
[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Because if they hadn't seen it then this guy would have you know live-streamed his murder of
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Donald Trump because they found a GoPro camera there too. He had it
[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Up against the like hanging on the fence
[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_01]: authorities are treating the episode as an apparent assassination attempt on Donald Trump according to the reported Fox News a
[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Background check on the name given by officials revealed that he currently lives in Hawaii and has faced dozens of run-ins with police
[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Stretching back to at least the 1990s which by the way somebody might need to tell the guy's son
[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Who seems to think that his dad?
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Would never do something like this has no history whatsoever to speak of on anything like that. Oh
[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's also a registered voter still in North Carolina. I pulled his voter card
[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Alright real quick. Let me introduce you to my friends Gabriel and Michelle two lifelong North Carolinians who are passionate about everything
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_01]: North Carolina they own simply NC goods
[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Which is a curated box service of only North Carolina made items food beverages home decor
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Skincare artwork pretty much anything NC and times running out to get the holiday themed box

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: You can do that house warmings birthdays Christmas host gifts grab some extra ones have on hand for when you need a quick gift
[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_01]: support small North Carolina businesses the easy way visit simply NC goods comm slash Pete and check out the various sizes
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Especially the jumbo box just for the holidays. That's simply NC goods comm slash Pete
[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna get into the stochastic terrorism angle in the next hour
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Or maybe a little bit sooner, I don't know no promises so
[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Ryan Wesley Ruth or Ralph Ralph
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_01]: the alleged gunman at the Trump Golf Club down in Florida and
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_01]: When it turned out that he was a North Carolina native
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I do what I usually do which is head on over to the Board of Elections website and
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Punched in his name and lo and behold two results come back for him
[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_01]: one of them is a
[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Inactive account is one of the inactive account, which was
[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_01]: theoretically removed
[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So there are two different searches you can run on people one is for active voters
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And then the other one includes any that have been removed or are inactive
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and so if you run that search you'll find
[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So he's got two different accounts basically one is for the inactive account and then one is for the active current account
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_01]: so in the inactive account, he has registered unaffiliated and
[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: He had voted in only the general elections in
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Elections going back to 1988 through 2000
[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so for 12 years he was voting in North Carolina
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But only in the general elections never in the primaries so you don't get any any indication as to what his
[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Political affiliation is now before I go any further. Let me point out
[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna go with the idea that he took a shot at the Republican
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_01]: nominee for president and
[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So I think his politics and again as I said earlier
[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_01]: He's crazy, but I think that's a pretty good indication of what his ideology might be
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Also the
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Harris Walls
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Bumper sticker on his truck in Hawaii where he lives
[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That's also a pretty good indication
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_01]: But he lives in Hawaii
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what the reports are saying that he lives in Hawaii. That's where the truck was pictured. That's where the house was
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But he still registered to vote in North Carolina. And in fact in the active voter profile
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: He has been voting since 2008
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Through this primary he voted in our March primary in the Democrat primary
[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the only primary that he has voted in
[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_01]: now he has on social media he had a pretty big footprint on social media and
[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_01]: He said he voted for Donald Trump in
[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_01]: 2016 but then he got very angry at Donald Trump. He was disillusioned
[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So for an eight-year period between
[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_01]: 2000 and 2008 he was not voting in North Carolina
[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he was in Hawaii during that time period but from 08 through 24
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_01]: He has been voting in North Carolina
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know how that squares with him being a resident or living in Hawaii
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't I don't understand that
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Not enough information at this time
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Also don't understand
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: How he's affording this lifestyle that he is leading
[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Not that he's living extravagantly, but he's traveling a lot
[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_01]: He travels a lot mainly to Ukraine
[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's he's been going over to Ukraine quite a bit made a couple of appearances up in DC as I understand it
[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_01]: too, but mainly Ukraine where he has been
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Over the last what three years since the war or two years since the war in Ukraine began
[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_01]: He's been trying to recruit mercenaries
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_01]: To fight against the Russians in Ukraine
[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Totally regular behavior for a construction worker from North Carolina, right went out to Hawaii and then
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Went to Ukraine. I guess I don't know so when I see there are reports that he's a registered Democrat
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe those reports are correct because according to the Board of Elections
[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He's a registered unaffiliated
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: the only primary he has ever voted in was the North Carolina primary in March and
[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he got to pick a presidential candidate there
[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So he was voting in you know, the down-ballot races in the Democrat primary
[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He is a native of North Carolina. Whereas list of arrests include simple drug possession driving without a license
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Expired inspection operating a vehicle with no insurance. Also the Greensboro News and Record reported that back in 2002
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: So this would have been during the period where he wasn't voting anymore
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_01]: He was no longer an active voter in North Carolina
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: But 2002 he was arrested after barricading himself
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Inside his roofing company's office during a three-hour standoff
[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: That followed a traffic stop in which he put his hand on a gun before fleeing
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Ralph moved to Hawaii in 2017
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So this would have been during that that period don't know what he was doing in the nine years between oh eight
[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, sorry. Oh eight and 24 is when he was a an active
[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Registered voter in North Carolina
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But Ralph according to the record cited at Fox News moved to Hawaii in 2017
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Susie voting in Hawaii also, I know it's like oh come on Pete
[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's not a big deal in comparison to the assassination attempt and I agree. However
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Seems kind of important
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Right seem seems like this might be an issue is this guy voting in multiple states
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He has since launched another construction company in Hawaii that builds simple housing structures for homeless people according to a LinkedIn page
[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That appears to belong to him
[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Although he didn't get very good reviews
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: there are a lot of people that left one star saying he didn't do the work and the work that he did do for others was
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: so terrible that the roofs were leaking a
[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Secret service member spotted the would-be gunman while Trump was playing on the course's fifth hole
[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Officials say he had been abandoned in a K 47 a GoPro camera and two backpacks along a chain-link fence that borders
[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_01]: The sixth hole of the course
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So when I was a kid my grandpa died with Alzheimer's and before he died my mom and my dad and all of us really helped
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Take care of him as he got progressively worse
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: 40 years ago there were no treatments and not much support for caregivers and family
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Things are different today because of the work of so many people including the Alzheimer's Association of Western, North Carolina
[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a great organization with awesome people. They've got huge hearts
[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been a supporter for like 25 years. This cause means a lot to me
[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I participate in the annual walk to end Alzheimer's and I am leading a Charlotte team this year
[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_01]: It's called Pete's pack you can sign up and join the team and walk with me
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's on October 19th at truest field in Uptown
[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Sign up at ALC org slash walk and then just look for my team Pete's pack
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's also a link in the podcast description here
[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Also, I'm gonna be MCing the Gastonia walk on October 5th
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So make a team and join us or make a donation to help me hit my goal. I would really appreciate it
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: There are a bunch of other walks around the Carolinas and you can go to a LZ org for all of the dates and locations
[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_01]: We are closer than ever to stopping Alzheimer's and if you can help us get there we would really appreciate it
[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Will you come walk with me for a different future for families for more time for treatments?
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_01]: This is why I walk
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So according to Fox News
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_01]: 58 year old Ryan Wesley Ruth or Ralph
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Do we have a pronunciation of this guy's name yet? Everybody keeps calling him Ruth, but I like Ralph and if you've seen him I
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Want to call him Ralph the mouth
[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Is his mouth is there's something going on there anyway?
[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_01]: He fled in an SUV after a member of the Secret Service fired on him
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: He was soon arrested. There was apparently a witness that
[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Took pictures of him and the car and got the license plate. So he got picked up very quickly
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I heard a report that he
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Thought that he had gotten away with it
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: No, you did not also Florida governor Ron DeSantis announced that he's gonna be his
[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Law enforcement agencies are gonna be conducting their own investigation into the matter as well, which I think is helpful
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_01]: a
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Couple of emails here a bunch of them
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Sue says no one seems to be asking the question of how did the potential shooter know that Trump was at the golf course?
[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It seems strange to me that he just happened to be at hole five or six when Trump would be there
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think great to listen your show sue?
[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, thanks sue for listening. I appreciate it. I have heard this question asked I heard
[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Vince
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Mentioned something along the lines this morning on his program
[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_01]: that
[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He was around Mar-a-Lago unbeknownst to him
[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: He he was not aware that he was in the vicinity
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but he just saw all of this law enforcement presence and stuff and
[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_01]: According to Vince you can tell when the president is at Mar-a-Lago because the security profile is enhanced
[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Now it's not enhanced to a level of say a sitting president
[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Which by the way, that might be something you guys could you know look at changing now after the second attempt on Trump's life
[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_01]: How about maybe giving him even more protection like a sitting president would have maybe okay just throwing that out there
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But depending on like what this guy's itinerary was like for the last, you know week or two
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Suspect he stalked the location. I suspect he hung out there waiting for Trump to get back and
[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_01]: again, if you're just kind of hanging out in the area, you'd be able to know if he's back and
[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I got another message
[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_01]: from John
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Who asks if I heard former congressman and former chief of staff to Donald Trump Mick Mulvaney
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: He was on he's on regularly with the morning show here. Good morning BT and
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I heard part of it. I did not hear this part John
[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Mulvaney knows that golf course well and described where the gunman was
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Literally just yards from the road
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: He mentioned how he had talked to the Secret Service about the security of that area a long time ago
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Right, so if you are doing recon work of the site
[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I suspect you're going to be able to figure out where to to stand where you would have concealment
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: not cover but concealment in the shrubs right and a sight line and
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: That's how he ended up being at that location
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So again, I don't know the answer to whether or not the guy had looked up Trump's schedule
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a publicly, you know released schedule
[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But if you know Trump loves golf, which I think everybody knows that he loves to play golf then
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: You can probably surmise when he's going to be making an appearance
[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_01]: If you just hang out at the golf course all day and it seems like that might be what this is what Hodgkinson did
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: remember the shooter at the
[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_01]: The Republican softball field where he showed up and tried to assassinate
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You know a third of the members of the Republican caucus or conference
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He just he just drove around and you know, let's listen in to his favorite left-wing
[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Programs and podcasts or whatever and he just staked out the location and like literally showed up that morning and
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_01]: asked a congressman in the parking lot after the
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The congressman was leaving and he I forget which one it may have been Duncan actually
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I forget who he asked but or maybe it was Wilson. I forget but he asked a congressman on his way out
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey is you know, are these Republicans out here? And the guy said yeah, and so
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Hodgkinson went back to his van
[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Got his gun came back and opened fire
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes it is that I don't want to say random because there was a level of detail and planning that went into it
[00:30:00] obviously
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_01]: but opportunity
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Neighbors of the man accused of attempting to assassinate Trump at his golf club
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Described him as quote a little cuckoo and claimed he left everyone on the street terrified this according to the Daily Mail
[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_01]: His home in North Carolina was raided late Sunday night
[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_01]: The pickup truck with a Biden Harris bumper sticker was found outside of his Hawaii home
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: A woman who lived next door to Ruth or Ralph in North Carolina described the says registered Democrat
[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't believe that's true as unusual
[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Described him as unusual and revealed that she was not shocked to learn that guns were involved once again
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Right. They go and they talk to people that know the shooter and what do we find?
[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: People say yeah, I could totally see how he would be the one to get busted for that
[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_01]: All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I could not do the show without your support and the support of the businesses that advertise on the podcast
[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you'd like, please support them too and tell them you heard it here
[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You can also become a patron at my patreon page or go to the Pete Callaner show comm again
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for listening and don't break anything while I'm gone
