So at the end of the last hour, I mentioned a bit of the developing news over the last eighteen hours or so, which is that Barry Weiss, the founder of the Free Press, she is reportedly on the verge of having her publication acquired by Paramount and then because Paramount owns CBS News and part of the deal, according to puck News, part of the deal is that she would be given control of CBS News. And as you might imagine, the people working at CBS News are in meltdown mode. How dare they be managed by Barry Weiss? Of all people, Barry Weiss. She was sort of canceled back during the summer of fiery but mostly peaceful riots and looting, and because she defended her editor who had published an op ed by Senator Tom Cotton who said, hey, you know what, maybe we should send some National Guard into these cities that are being looted by the rioting. And he was then canceled by his own newsroom people inside the New York Times. They went after him, he was ousted, she defended him. She ended up becoming targeted by these leftists in the New York Times newsroom as well, and then she went off and started the Free Press. And so what Dylan Bayer's reported at Puck News is that the talks have been accelerating for the last few days. The CEO of Paramount sky Dance, which is the parent company of CBS, has been apparently trying to woo Barry Weiss for more than a year, and he says, I'm now told the two sides have agreed in principle to a deal and lawyers are hard at work finalizing a formal agreement. It's expected to be worth more than a one hundred million dollars deal, and whatever the number comes in, it's going to land her a king's ransom or a queen's ransom. Just a little over five years after her dramatic departure from The New York Times. As part of the deal, Dylan Byer says, the plan is to give Barry Weiss a role at CBS News that would, among other things, task his fellow millennial with guiding the editorial direction of the division. Barries avowedly pro Israel and anti woke worldview. By the way, she is a liberal. Okay, just for the record here, she's a liberal's she was anti woke though she did not like the cancelation. She did not like the group identity Politics and such, and they did not like her because she was anti woke, but also because she is pro Israel and how dare she right? So it would inevitably inspire blowback from various corners of the newsroom, which it already is today, and could dramatically change the editorial posture and reputation of one of the most storied and certainly self important institutions in American journalism, and Buyers points out that's probably part of the point, because if you got a bunch of people that are at CBS News that won't eve you bring in somebody like Barry Weiss to now manage them in a way that is less partisan, that's more ethical. Then they will leave on their own. So it's a it's a way to help clean house without actually having to fire a bunch of people. I suspect that is part of what we are seeing go on right because The Rap, which is a lefty website. Sharon Waxman and Adam Chitwood, they wrote about this that an individual with knowledge of the deal said Paramount did expect there to be resignations as a result of Weiss's acquisition, or what I would call a win win. When she went on to found The Free Press, it has grown into a robust media platform that consistently criticizes left leaning cultural and social views, has a successful response to progressive media and mainstream outlets that lean to the left. Again, she is of the liberal persuasion, but she recognized that the leftists were going too far right that and this is part of the problem with leftism is that it can never go too far. It always keeps going. As the Kamis say, fullword. That's why they name their publications full word, and that's why they use fullword as their slogan all the time, and progress and all that, but they never tell you where the destination is, except if they do say it's like utopia, right, where all the problems are solved, everybody makes all enough money, there's no poverty. Right. They're selling a vision of perfection, which of course is unattainable. And so they just say forward and progress, and they never tell you where the destination is. They don't tell you where the end zone is, which is what I was asking way back during the HB two, like where's the end zone? Where does this end? When is enough enough? When are you satisfied? And I never got an answer from anybody that I ever talked to on the left or in the Democratic Party ever. So this idea that she is somehow positioned as like a right winger and she's not simply because she challenged the direction and the pace that the left was going. Oh and of course that she's pro Israel, which I think that's that's really the problem here for a lot of the leftists, that she's pro Israel, which, by the way, I just want to give it up. It's been a banner week for the anti Israel folks in the media that I repeat myself, banner week, really, like there are now I think there are three different hamasaganda stories that were pushed out that media regurgitated dutifully as if they were true, and now they've been debunked just in a matter of days. And by the way, the Israeli government just totally stinks at doing this. They're not good at the propaganda war at all. This is people online. These are social media users, a couple of right wing influencers and journalists and such, but for the most part, it's just people online that see these stories and sort of do a rapid response. They just poke some holes in, you know, some of the narrative. They ask a couple of questions and we find out, oh, another story that's been a lie from the very beginning. There was I've got I've got a list here going. This is Eton Fischberger, who starts off on Twitter. He says, the first one was that the Hamas terrorists were claiming victory for abducting four IDF soldiers in Gaza. Remember that story spread like wildfire, slight problem. It did not happen, right, it did not happen. Everybody was so excited on the Hamas holes side, so excited. Then there was the anti journalism campaign run by NGOs to paint Israel as deliberately targeting journalists and then you find out, oh, actually the quote journalists were like commanders in hamas, but they would just put on a vest that says media and then it's like, oh my god, they killed a media person. Yeah, he was also a platoon leader, So I mean, there is that, right. So that was the next one. And then we had the genocide scholars who voted to say what Israel is doing is a genocide, and then that one fell apart. So when I was a kid, my grandpa died with Alzheimer's, and before he died, my mom and my dad took care of him as he got worse. Forty years ago, there were no treatments and not much support for caregivers and family. But things are different today because of the work of so many people, including the Alzheimer's Association of Western Carolina. It's a great organization with awesome people with huge hearts. I've been a supporter for twenty five years. This cause means a lot to me. I participate in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's and I'm leading a Charlotte team again this year, and it's called Once Again Pete's Pack. You can sign up and you can join the team and walk with us. It's on October eighteenth, that truest field. Sign up at alz dot org slash walk and then you can search for my team name Pete's Pack. Also, I'll be am seeing the Gastonia Walk on October eleventh, and so you can make a team and join that one too, or make a donation and help me hit my goal of five thousand dollars. If you do, I really appreciate it. There are a bunch of other walks all over the Carolinas. You can go to alz dot org slash walk for all the dates and locations. Were closer than ever to stopping Alzheimer's. Can you help us get there? Will you walk with me? For a different future, for families, for more time, for treatments. This is why we walk. So we got four different stories just in the last week, the story of for Israeli soldiers abducted by Hamas they were not that did not happen, The dead journalist collusion story that was fake. Then we have the International Genocide Scholar story. This one's pretty crazy. The IAGS, the International Association of Genocide Scholars or IAGS, or as I call it, the IAGS, they passed a resolution declaring that Israeli is committing genocide in Gaza. Mainstream media outlets from The New York Times to The Washington Post to Reuters described the association as a leading academic voice on the subject. On Monday, The New York Times wrote, the International the Association of Genocide Scholars, a leading group of academic experts on the topic, declared that Israel's policies and actions in Gaza met the legal definition of genocide. So the first question is, what the hell is the IAGS. I've never heard of this, but then again, I haven't heard of a lot of things, so figure, Okay, well, maybe somebody should look into what the IAGS is. As the association's title would indicate, it is composed of genocide scholars, as opposed to genocideal scholars those are usually found in prisons. But anyway, its members actually include academic scholars. This is from their website. Academic scholars, human rights activists, students, museum professionals, memorial professionals, policymakers, educators, anthropologists, independent scholars, sociologists, artists, political scientists, economists, historians, international law scholars, psychologists, and one of my favorites here literature and film scholars. That's who comprises the IAGS. Like, okay, well, what if you don't fit one of those seventeen titles, do not fear you? Two can be an active member of the IAGS. All you need to do is fill out a biographical form and give them some money. Not even a lot of money. It's one hundred and twenty five bucks for one year membership. They do have deals, so you can you can pay two ten for two years, or if you want to just knock it all out with a lifetime membership, twelve hundred dollars and you can be a lifetime member of the IADS. And what do you get for that good question? You get access to the association's internal list serves like emails and such. But wait, there's more. You get access to their newsletter. And if that's not enough, you get access to their job listing notifications as well as calls for papers and biennial conferences. So here's the business model. You pay some money and then you can propose some petitions, and then you get to vote on those petitions. That's it. That's the Scholarly Association. So according to their bylaws, again from their website, if a resolution is to pass, voting has to be undertaken by a quorum of more than twenty percent of the paid membership. The association says it represents six hundred members from all continents. Here's the problem with the Gaza genocide resolution. Of the six hundred members, only one hundred and twenty nine of them voted, so that would be twenty two percent voted at all on the resolution. That's according to Sarah Brown, a longtime IAGS member who actually served on its advisory board. The IAGS told The Washington Post that eighty six percent of respondents voted in favor of the resolution, So that would be like one hundred and ten yes votes out of the one twenty nine. Okay, but you have six hundred members, so that would be just eighteen per of the total membership. While it's unclear exactly who voted on the resolution, there was a reason to believe that at least some of the respondents were not actually genocide scholars. I know, this is shocking several have little to know online footprint, including any affiliation with like a university of any sort. Salo Eisenberg, an independent scholar. He actually went and registered as a member of the IAGS, and he found that eighty members, or roughly thirteen percent of all of the quote scholars, came from one country, Iraq, which I was not aware that there was like that kind of critical mass of genocide scholars all residing in Iraq. Eisenberg inspired then a wave of individuals to start joining the IAGS. So if you see anybody put in their bio that they are a genocide scholar, if they're listing themselves as a genocide scholar, this is the joke. Because people started flooding the website yesterday. They would pay like thirty bucks for a monthly membership so they could gain access to it and then call themselves a genocide scholar. And the response was so overwhelming and the lie was so exposed that the IAGS purged all of its new members and then took down its public membership directory and then deleted its Twitter account. It seems balanced. Some articles agree with me and others I get the other side. She wrote, Barry Weiss wrote a fantastic piece when gender rejecting care came into the cultural consciousness, and she nailed it. So I was sold. Yeah, Look, the free press carries pieces from all sorts of people, and that's like, that's the point is that you're supposed to be having those types of discussions of the you know, these controversial and important issues of the day, rather than simply advanced seeing one particular viewpoint all the time. You can do that if you want to as a a newspaper, sure, but then you can't really complain when you're not reaching as wide of an audience as you otherwise might. Rodney says progressives or commies are always going forward but always bringing up the past, right, well, because the issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution for comies, that's the way it goes, right, So whatever they need to say in order to justify whatever the position they're doing today is, they will use that argument. This is from an anonymous nine to eight to zero number. I was going to pursue it. But what do you think Should I just pay the thirty dollars and become a genocide scholar? I mean that Look, that's a very perfectly reasonable career path. I mean, look, thirty bucks and now you're a genocide scholar. That's a pretty good return on your investment. Right. Then you could start getting appearances on all sorts of cable stations and such. Right, Although I think I'm not sure the IAGS is going to have as good of a reputation anymore, given what we've seen with their implosion over the last twenty four hours. So this is from what am I reading this from? Ag Hamilton his sub stack. He's a independent journalist, he says. On Tuesday, there were new membership accounts created on the IAGS website for people dropping thirty bucks. So they had all these new membership accounts created. Some of the names on the list serve Adolf Hitler. He became a genocide scholar, as did Cookie Monster that was another one of the members. The exact composition of the original voters is unknown. It keep in mind all of this was revealed not by the media outlets that extensively cited the IAGS, but rather by independent media and social media users right essentially trolls with thirty bucks Like that's what exposed all of this. And then there is another one, another lie that came to light. I oh, hang on, Melissa wants to know if any of the membership levels in the IAGS offer a Greta Thunberg bubblehead. I don't believe so, but you could probably go on to like eBay and just find some old he Man action figures and just paint like a Palestinian flag on his chest, and that would I mean it would Basically it's a spinning image. So it's the same thing. It's a commentary on her haircut. People. Okay, look have you seen her recently? She's got the he man haircut. I don't know why who told her that? But anyway, then there was this, there was a guy making the rounds. I did not cover this story because the whole thing just stunk and I did not know who to believe on all of this, but I did. I have covered the GHF, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, right, They've been operating these food supply sites in Gaza in order to starve Hamas of its revenue stream. Because when the UN runs the humanitarian aid, Gaza or Hamas financially benefits from it, they steal the aid. The UN has said this, they steal the aid, they sell it to the to the Gazans. And again, if you want, if you really want to help Palestinians, you want to help the people of Gaza, you have to make sure that Hamas does not stay in control. Okay, because with Hamas in power, the palestinians plight never gets better, never so the GHF has been in there, and a couple of weeks ago there was a guy named Tony Aguilar who made this claim that he saw this little kid named a Mirror just get get undown by the IDF while he was trying to get food. Turns out and there were there were. The GHF pushed back and said, look, this guy is not to be believed. He's a disgruntled worker. He made all sorts of threats against the GHF. He made he tried to extort us to try to get his job back. There was all these So there was all this swirl around this guy. So that's why I didn't cover it, because I couldn't tell which was true and which wasn't. Right. Well, it turns out, as I did, suspect a little bit of BS going on with this dude, And now it turns out there's a video of the boy alive and well not gunned down. So that was a lie too. See I'm starting to see a pattern here. How about uh, how about this one? This is actually from the Associated Press. A confidential report by the United Namesation's nuclear watchdog, circulated to member states and viewed by the Associated Press, states that Iran increased its stockpile of uranium enriched to near weapons grade levels before Israel launched its military attack on June thirteenth. That material is a short technical step away from weapons grade levels of ninety percent, so they did have nuclear stockpiles they were enriching to right up to the weapons grade level. Interesting, they had increased their stockpile of the highly enriched near weapons grade levels. According to the IAEA, approximately forty two kilograms of sixty percent enriched uranium is theoretically enough to produce one atomic bomb if it gets enriched up to ninety percent, And to go from sixty to ninety percent is super quick, It's super easy to do. Once you get to sixty, it's like just a short jump to the ninety. From what I understand, that's what all the reporting says. So they had forty two kilos at sixty percent more than or sorry, forty two kilos is what it takes to make one bomb, and they had increased that amount. Okay, forty two kilos for one bomb. You know how much they had enriched four hundred and forty one kilos, so, in other words, ten times the amount for one bomb, So they could have made ten atomic bombs. The confidential report also said that Iran and the IAEA have not reached an agreement on resuming inspections of sites that were affected by the bombings, which we were told were completely unjustified. There was no evidence that any of this stuff was having, that Iran wasn't working on a bomb, and it's like, it's just absolutely absurd, And now here we are a month later, two months later, and it was true. All Right, you hear me talk a lot about incentives, right, Well, let's talk about incentive trips, the kind that companies offer employees to fire them up and reward their teams. Visit incentive trip kit dot com because great trips deserve even better returns. I mentioned nuclear, as George W. Bush and Homer Simpson would call it. Thought this was pretty interesting that the US Department of Energy says that it has made an initial selection of eleven projects for a pilot program seeking to develop high tech test nuclear reactors and get at least at least three of them to begin operating in less than a year. As artificial intelligence and data centers boost power demand, the US is aiming to develop small nuclear reactors, which developers say will be cheaper to build per megawatt of output than today's larger reactors because the parts could be replicated in factories. Good, it's about time, Holy smokes, Thank goodness, Yes, more of these. Look. I don't know what China's got planned, I mean, beside the invasion of Taiwan, probably, I mean, what do you think they're hoarding all that gold for. But anyway, I don't know what they got planned. I just think it's a good idea for us to be completely energy independent and to have these small reactors around hardens our infrastructure. I think it's a good idea of the Department is doing this because Donald Trump issued an executive order back in May trying to speed up the permitting of nuclear reactors and reform the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The order allows the Energy Department to authorize the test reactors without going through the NRC, because the NRC is an independent agency, and so this is meant to get around that regulatory burden. Small modular and so called advanced nuclear reactors have been talked about in the US for years, but the only ones operating are in Russia and China. So yeah, let's get some of those online. Speaking of Russia and China, the Chinese President Winnie the Pooh aka Jijinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been overheard discussing organ transplants as a means of prolonging life on the sidelines of a military parade in Beijing. I mentioned this offhand as a joke and people thought it was just a joke, because for some reason, people sometimes have a hard time deciphering when I'm kidding and when I'm not. I don't I never kid. I don't know why people think I'm kidding. Anyway, Putin suggested even eternal life could be achievable as a result of innovations in biotechnology. The unguarded moment was captured on a live stream carried by Chinese state TV, so you know, somebody getting whacked for that, And as the two leaders, along with North Korea's Kim Jong un, walked together through China's historic Teneman Square, where absolutely nothing has ever happened, particularly some sort of pro democracy protest where they killed a whole bunch of college kids. Nothing like that. So apparently the translation was like, oh, yeah, you know, seventy is it? GI's translator could be heard saying in Russian that so Winnie the Pooh was saying that, you know, somebody now who was seventy. These days they say at seventy, you're still a child. Okay, I don't know who's saying that. I mean maybe the people that are surrounding Jijinping because they're afraid of getting whacked if they say you're getting kind of old G so maybe they're saying, oh, seventy is the new twelve. It's totally fine. And then they start talking about harvesting organs organ transplants, which I'm sure they're not doing. All right, that'll do it for this episode. Thank you so much for listening. I could not do the show without your support and the support of the businesses that advertise on the podcast, so if you'd like, please support them too and tell them you heard it here.
