The latest media hit on Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett is a "selectively edited" video from four years ago that purports to show she objected to filling a vacancy during an election year. The video actually shows her arguing the opposite. Also, North Carolina Democratic candidate for US Senate, Cal Cunningham, might need to have MORE affairs, as he saw his poll numbers rise amid the sex scandal that broke open last week. After months of pressure from media outlets, the NC Dept. of Health and Human Services is now providing more data about COVID-19 hospitalizations on it's website. But the data still leaves important gaps. In one of the more hilarious stories about North Carolina politics, Black Lives Matter protesters are "asking" (not demanding) Gov. Roy Cooper veto a bill -- that his administration asked the legislature to adopt. Also, the NC DHHS finally announced a plan to test all staffers at nursing homes. The World Health Organization says asymptomatic spread of the coronavirus is "very rare." But NC officials seem to say otherwise. And while Gov. Cooper recommended yesterday that everyone who marched over the past 10 days be tested, he had not been tested himself. It's beginning to seem like there are at least two set of rules when it comes to battling COVID-19. Subscribe for FREE: https://thepetekalinershow.com/get-the-podcast/ Patreon: https://www.patreo...
Michael Harden from the Civitas Institute joins me for a discussion about how we built a high-powered and super-efficient food processing system, but it might not actually be the best way to meet our needs. Plus, it's clear that NC officials should have been paying more attention to COVID-19 outbreaks in nursing homes. From the farm, to the slaughterhouse and meat processing plants, to the restaurants -- the COIVD-19 pandemic - and the government response to it - has caused major disruptions to the supply and distribution system. North Carolina is almost last in the US in the number of people it has tested for the COVID-19, despite Gov. Cooper's administration focus on that metric as a key point in deciding when to re-open the state. Also, NC hasn't reported any of it's COVID-19 deaths to the CDC because we're one of the last states to still use a paper system for registering deaths. Sen. Warren Daniel joins me to discuss his proposed legislation that would virtually eliminate penalties for violating Gov. Roy Cooper's Stay at Home Executive Order (SHEO). Also, the NC Secretary of Health and Human services dodges questions on meat processing plant data. Some of the most basic questions being asked of our North Carolina officials don't get answered - like how are COVID-19 deaths counted and what roadblocks are there for getting more testing done? Do these officials not know? Or do they not want us to know? North Carolina Senate Leader Phil Berger announced $100,000 funding for Wake Forst Baptist Health & Atrium Health's COVID-19 testing research. Reporters didn't seem very interested to hear that the NC Secretary of Health and Human Services has been "resistant to prioritizing sample testing" -- or that Gov. Roy Cooper hasn't spoken with the legislative leaders about his "plan" to re-open the state. Subscribe for FREE: https://thepetekalinershow.com/get-...
